** spoiler omitted **
You are correct; only the caster can not take other actions unless they have the appropriate feat. Since Darnak would be the caster of his abundant step ability, he was not able to attack that turn.
If Sparel dd's everyone across the room, everyone else still gets their full actions (after the spell).
Cool. That's what I thought.

Well, that was a long post. In case anyone noticed, I accidentally posted the round earlier by hitting "Submit Post" instead of "Preview." I use the Preview mode to see what the dice results are so I can describe what is going on.
If anyone did see the early post, you noticed that I only did one caster level check at first on the spells to speed things up for me. I decided against that because I did not feel it was fair to those who Spell Resistance. SR is basically your Armor Class against spells. I'd never do just one attack roll and say that hit everyone in the group. So I changed the post to reflect rolls for each player.
If I forgot to make a SR roll for you, please let me know. So far as I can remember, the two monk and our mystic theurge are the ones who have that defense.
As always, let me know if I've forgotten something. This combat has shown me that I'll probably need to use something a little different in the next module just to keep up with all the effects in play. But we can worry about that after we finish Root of Evil.

GM_Arbiter |

Darnak hasn't gone yet. It's Malak's turn next. Then follow the chart.
Malak 13
Sparel 10+
Tree 10
Darnak 6
Treants 3
EDIT: I see what part of the problem is. I posted something about end of round two when it was the end of Round One. I had just posted twice in the round because there are so many people acting here. This is a bit difficult to keep track of while posting during breaks.

GM_Arbiter |

Also, I'm taking a look at the bestiary and such. Yeah, there are some CR 25 things that cannot hit the tank except on a crit. I may speed things up a bit and just start throwing the group at things several CR higher. I'll still run Witchwar Legacy, but the chances of anything actually hurting the group is very low.
In fact, I don't see a reason to run this into high epic levels under Pathfinder rules. I don't have the time to build everything from scratch for this. I'll probably reskin monsters I can get from the bestiary online and go from there. We'll see how things go.

Javell DeLeon |

Gotcha. My bad. Cool then.
As per not getting hit:
I built this dude strictly for defense. His offense is far below the others, but in my thinking, I was figuring that I'll eventually hit them, before they hit me. :)
Needless to say, I was quite impressed with that Dino crit. I figured that would be the one time I could get hit. My AC not being up to snuff on the first round of battle is Darnak's initial weakness. Seeing how it's only a 51 normally.
Otherwise, it's a minimum of 55 due to fighting defensively and crane style.

Javell DeLeon |

Hey, well that will work out pretty good for Darnak then, I think.
Since Malak goes before me and now that he's flanking her, I should get the +4 on all my to hit rolls for flanking, correct?
AND if that's the case, then with my crit roll(that is assuming a 47 hits) there should be AoO's for the 'Outflanker's'.

Curious about this last part, are you saying your going to scrap the game before it gets in high epic levels?
Also, if you need some help with epic challenges, I can offer some assistance. I'll PM you the details.

GM_Arbiter |

This game is meant to help me gauge the Pathfinder system at high levels. I know I can just add stuff to make things more difficult. I'm focused on the rules so I can see where the bad parts are to avoid them in the future.
I want to keep my work in this low because I already am on call 24/7, playing in a game, helping design monsters for a varient game, helping my family and working at a different job as well. And that doesn't cover my own personal stuff.
Basically, I'm planning on cutting out some of the "speed bump" combats since they don't actually consume resources and reskin some things on occasion. There are fewer high-level monsters than low level creatures.
Also, we'll probably have to add some standard spoilers to each combat post about current buffs, so I don't have to hunt things down when I post on my dinner break.

GM_Arbiter |

Let me give an example of what I mean. This module called for me to roll 1d6 to determine the number of DC 25 Climb checks the party had to make to navigate each passage between the rooms. I did that at first, but it became obvious there wasn't a challenge there. It was just some dice rolling. Waiting a day or so for everyone to post rolls to get past a speed bump just slows things down with little to show for it, in my opinion.

::I can't do anything in this shape. I don't suppose anyone has a break enchantment or greater dispel magic handy?::
Yay! Inquisitors get Break Enchantment.(Looking at YOU, Akor) ;)
Of course, he has to learn it, but at least he gets it! Whew! Man, I was sweatin' that one. I didn't know WHAT we were going to do.Man, that's a relief.
And greater dispel magic. So, you're good.

GM_Arbiter |

Yes, I did receive the PM. I haven't had chance to look over all the offerings, but it is a great resource. Thank you.
Sparel, you also have another option. You could issue a telepathic plea to outsider whose True Name you know. Normally, you have to speak the name but thinking it loud enough might make him come for fear you tell someone else to say it ...

Well that's just a freaking cool ability!
Sparel: "Well if I can't get out of this predicament, I'll just call on one of our local diety's herald. They owe me one anyway. Why? Because I'm me. It's just best we leave it at that." He says with a wink.
Makes me think he'd be calling on the Silver Surfer from-- Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Just awesome. :)

Sparel Radtymah |

what? you could go all killer rabbit on the hag.
I can't believe I didn't make the Monty Python reference before you. *smacks forehead*

Javell DeLeon |

That Monty Python bit is pretty good stuff!
DO
NOT
UTTER
SUCH
BLASPHEMY
EVER
AGAIN!!!!
I actually have no idea what monkeygod means by this. It's not in the movie. Well, at least not that I can remember. Maybe you didn't like the movie?

Sparel Radtymah |

Haha! Ive been waiting since yesterday for you to attack as a rabbit so I could say ::Its got vicious fangs:: or ::That rabbit's dynamite!::
For the moment the rabbit just looks indignant and encourages you to break enchantment or GDM.

Silver Surfer and Galactus are two of my favorite characters, I even own the first appearance of both. Big G is not some weird cloud/gas thingy...
Seriously though, how is Thad able to fire at the hag? Once Sparel made the comment when I asked, I thought it meant we couldn't fire down because Reverse Gravity would froce our arrows up to the ceiling. I mean, if the spell doesn't prevent ranged attacks its kinda silly...especially since its an ongoing effect

The arrow is flying fast enough and hard enough that the pull of gravity (either direction) won't effect it until it slows down. It's not flying far enough to slow down in this case. it's the nature of arrows or any ranged weapon.
Technically it does effect it, but not significantly with the area of the spell. Plus it doesnt specifically say so in the spell description.

Oterisk |

I always just figured that when gravity is reversed, the ceiling becomes the floor and the floor becomes the ceiling. Can I fire my bow at something on the ceiling? I think so.
That and how did she know we all had rings of feather falling? Otherwise its a good spell. It works great against hordes of melee mooks.
I also have to say I've always had a soft spot for Galactus. Poor guy is just hungry. How can you hold that against him?

Essentially what I meant, but you said it better.

GM_Arbiter |

*grins* Nice speech, Thad. Nice roleplaying everyone. I enjoyed seeing how your characters reacted to all of this.
Just a few things. I try to avoid speaking directly to the players through a DMPC to tell you what to do. If you guys want to hit the beach and get a tan, say the word and we'll do it.
That said, I do have a rough plot and outline for this game. But I can handle twists and turns just fine, so feel free to do what you and your characters think best.

Sparel Radtymah |

Druid's vestments
Lavender and green ioun stone (29 spell levels remaining)
Dusty rose ioun stone
Headband of Inspired Wisdom +6
Ring of Freedom of Movement
Greater Ring of Acid Resistance
Bracers of Armor +6
Cloak of Resistance +3
Three vials of diamond dust worth 250 gp each
Jade circlet worth 1,500 gp (art, animals, etc. sell for full price, not half like magic items)
Two doses of true seeing ointment
Scroll of Word of Recall (20th caster level)
Scroll of Planeshift (20th caster level)
Scroll of Antipathy (20th caster level)
I'd like the Ioun stone and one of the rings. The Freedom of movement ring preferably, though I can see how another may need it too. If not I'd like the acid ring.
We can save the diamond dust for resurections, restorations, etc.
Can someone besides me use the scrolls? I don't really need them if someone else can use them they can have them.
The bracers will only add an effective +1 armor for me, so those aren't that useful. As for the rest I either have better or have no direct use for it.

Javell DeLeon |

Man, Arbiter, some great descriptions in thost last few posts dude! Man that was some absolute fun!
And I love Sparel's description of the building. Very descriptive, fellas. Well done.
Really the only thing useful for Darnak is the ioun stone. But you guys with lower AC's will need that more than me.
Hey Sparel, if you combine the bracers and the ioun stone, that's a +2 better to your AC.
And just for the record, Darnak's gonna need 24 hours to get his Vow Of Silence bonuses back. ;)

Sparel Radtymah |

Hummm... Look what I found in the Ioun stone section.
[quote PHB]The pale lavender and lavender-and-green stones work like a rod of absorption, but absorbing a spell requires a readied action
Still useful, but it's not automatic.

Oterisk |

I'm good with my equipment. The only thing I could use is the lavender and green Ioun stone, but I think it would be better served with someone who does not have SR or has a low save.
That last bit was a lot of fun! I kind of felt bad that when I checked it at the end of a busy day that I had 22 new posts, but I think I posted just in time. I will have to keep a better eye on you guys. :P
