Also, just in case you've collectively forgotten, I'll be in Australia for 3 weeks beginning next Wednesday. While I will still post, it will be during Australian hours and at a drastically reduced rate (for me). I will endeavor to get in 1 / day unless it's a travel day.
I did forget. No worries, you always find a way to sneak a post in. Safe travels. Hope things go well.
TheBobJones_GM |
Just a gentle reminder that we are back on 24-hour posting schedule. And that is a minimum. The Villa is a pseudo combat situation which is always nice to have a more frequent posting rate. Lastly, it would be nice to wrap this puppy up and move along. You all have lots to talk about afterwards and I am very excited about what is to come.
Arimar |
Okay that puts me at the villa and completes Arimar's transformation! Thanks for reading, boys, and thanks for joining in at the perfect time, GM. Now, let's figure out what we know about the handmaiden (maybe somewhere private from Lanvi?), discuss with Lanvi her renegotiated terms and then move on to the Temple.
... and with that many posts, I think I've made up for any future deficit while I'm in Australia. ;-)
Benaiah the Heretic |
I loved that story... so awesome! Really well done!
Arimar |
Nice to see you dice rolls carry over to whatever character you seem to play in my games. Jerk. :).
It has been incredible. I'm sure, though, that when I really need them to roll well I will get screwed. ;-)
Really glad you boys liked the read. Can't wait to 'meet up' in character.
Gwendolyn "Cadence" Mehra |
Just finished Arimar's story. I waited to make sure I had plenty of time, and didn't need to rush through it. I'm glad I waited and could sit back and enjoy it. Awesome job, Damien. That was great! Totally digging the transformation of Arimar and all the character building you did. I loved the courtroom/judgement scene, super neat :)
Arimar |
Sorry about the delay boys, was a busy weekend getting ready for Australia. I'll try to get a couple of good posts in before Wednesday (when I leave).
Arimar |
... and Chris, really happy that you enjoyed the story and didn't rush through it. I think I mentioned to you on Friday night that I did it all as an homage of kinds to the Avatar Trilogy (old school pulp fantasy set in the Forgotten Realms). Mortals ascending to godhood and then bickering and keeping past tensions, managing their new way with actual gods being upset by what was happening and all kinds of stuff like that. Fantastic. I like to think of Golarion's pantheon as quite similar, with Aroden, Cayden Cailean, Norgorber and Iomedae technically all being gods who were once mortals (though Aroden ascended a bit differently).
Arimar |
That last comment reminded me, GM...
Updated the table of rolls with all of Arimar's new stuff. Enjoy!
Arimar |
Hey John, I know I've got a lot of aliases (thanks for bearing with me on those).
Would you mind removing all those that aren't Arimar? They're mostly inactive now, and while I may use them in the future, but no need to have them cluttering up the space on my campaigns list. ;-)
For reference, they are:
– Aβadar
– Captain Reginald Romsky
– Phara§ma
– Sarenræ
– The Underdog
– Urgathøa
Arimar |
@Malgrim: I just noticed your main stats haven't been updated to level 6 overall (I was just peeking as to what your secondary class was and noticed you're still level 4 / level 1. Should be level 5 / level 1 now.
Also, @GM, thanks for removing my aliases! Less clutter feeds my OCD. ;-)
TheBobJones_GM |
No problem. With the current posting rate I find myself with plenty of spare time Oh snap!
Arimar |
Okay, last post for today and for probably the next two days while my family and I travel to Australia!
Have fun boys, and see you on the other side of the world. Hopefully my text won't come through upside down also.
Benaiah the Heretic |
Enjoy your trip!
Arimar |
Found some time at LAX. With your current posting rate, I'll easily keep up! :-P
TheBobJones_GM |
On that note, I have had such an abundant amount of free time that I have a special holiday encounter for all of you with some special guests. You'll have to roll up new toons hopefully you all won't be dead, and I would like you to keep your characters secret even from me so once I post some character creation guidelines, no cyber stalking!
Not to worry, we are not replacing your primary characters.

Crib Notes
In order to restore the fountain you will need to restore the aquifer, rebuild the fountain structure, and acquire the hoshen.
I am going to handwave the recruiting the laborers and engineers for the fountain and aquifer. You will be introduced to two named NPC, that were hired from the Whale’s Belly: Foreman Daceileum Surly & Senior Carpenter Branarm Om. What I do need to know is how upfront are you all going to be about restoring the fountain. , ie. Ishbaad told everyone and his mother that we were the Black Riders Reborn. What I am looking for is how circumspect you are going to be.
To restore the fountain proper, your jumping off points are.
- Aquifer - see The School of the Four Winds.
- Rebuild the Fountain - see Quarriers' Guild
- Hoshen - see Museum of Ages, Doctor Ernst Landis.
Expect each of these quests to last a bit less than a module, and expect to level after each.

I just wanted to say, sorry for the lack of posting. I'll make sure to get a post up today, and make up by posting more this weekend. Work ended up being very busy the last two days, and having to present multiple presentations ended up taking a lot of my time. Anyway, I'll get back into the game and sorry again.
Arimar |
At a cafe. Hotel WiFi doesn't work. Will hopefully be able to post on Sunday at my uncle's. Sorry!
Arimar |
EDIT: Moved to discussion.
Re: Surly & Om
Sorry, I thought these guys were part of the guild. I take it Surly is referring to the Quarriers' Guild then? I know you hand-waved our introduction to them and they're laborers, but if they're not with the guild then how did we know about them and why are we talking to them first instead of going through a guild?
Also, what carpentry needs to be done in restoring the fountain? Wooden supports and stuff are for mines (and possibly larger sewer / aqueduct passages) but anything involving water typically avoids something that can rot and split like wood does.
Arimar |
Also, I have a contact in the Mindurian family... but as Reginald Romsky. I think I might try to parley that somehow. May need to bend some paladin codes to do so, but I did a pretty decent job of obfuscating the truth without directly lying at the party.
TheBobJones_GM |
Re: Surly & Om
The are the laborers/engineers that are going to rebuild the fountain.
I hand waved trying to find workers. You are meeting them merely to get an introduction to them, to decide what level of information you are going to share, and be introduced to the problem of the stone. Which is now accomplished. Just waiting on Benaiah and Gwen to see if they wanted to add anything. One seems smitten by Gwen ;)
You are also going to restore the aquifer at some point. Digging down usually needs shoring, and lifts and such.
After having worked for my village water department, and for AT&T installing phone lines, you are going to need carpenters to build the supports and structures. Trust me on this.
TheBobJones_GM |
Also, I have a contact in the Mindurian family
You do?!?! OMG?!!?? It was almost like it was planned. Weird how that works ....
"Alas, my endeavours were fruitless"
"Captain Reginald Romsky made a friend, but he's unlikely to be ever able to make use of it."

I'm sorry for my posting rate guys - Life is changing and is far different than it was the 2+ years ago when we started this crazy journey. I am trying to keep up, and believe me it kills me when I can't post.
I promise I am trying!!!
Arimar |
The reason I said that wasn't because the dwarf wouldn't be a useful contact, but because Arimar himself was changing. Part of that was losing a lot of disguise and bluff when becoming a paladin. As such, 'Reginald Romsky' is unlikely to be able to make a repeat appearance. I've got some ideas, though, that involve stretching the truth without lying (once again).
Benaiah the Heretic |
I know this isn't in character and so defeats some of the purpose, but I'm not sure how to bring it back up, and don't know when I will have a proper amount of time to sit down and do it right. So I just wanted to mention a few things on here because I know you are looking for them from a player perspective.
Where Ishbaad wasn't so circumspect about who he was, Benaiah is going to treat this project on a much more "Need to Know" basis. He isn't sharing anything about the purpose of the project unless necessary to accomplish whatever task we are working on.
For example, in talking with this most recent guild, he might go so far as to bring up that they are working on a re-building construction project for someone with exacting requirements and wants that particular stone. Since it historically seems to be a status symbol of sorts, that shouldn't seem terribly unusual, at least in Benaiah's mind.
Again, I am so sorry about my posting rate. I really am trying to carve out the time necessary, but time is the one resource I seem to have far to little of lately. It doesn't help that I have 3 different large construction projects going on at work this week, all with very tight windows for completion. Writing this post is the longest I have sat at my desk, or sat down at home for that matter, since sometime last week.
Busy. Life is good, but farkin busy.
I still love you guys. :)
TheBobJones_GM |
Benaiah Makes sense and what I thought.
@ All There have been a few opportunities where I have given you all a chance in character to respond while being circumspect, so please make sure to continue to utilize them.

Hello everyone, thought I peek over the GM Screen and give everyone a "Hallo".
I know that posts have been sluggish of late, whether that is do to RL commitments or just slow plot, I wanted to do what I can to make this an enjoyable experience.
To break down the adventure, The Fountain of Bethesda, a bit, and to respond to Arimar's request to start to restore the aquifer, it would be best to concentrate on one aspect at a time.
In this adventure there will be a macro plot - the three task to restore the fountain, and numerous micro plots - things that will happen in the course of completing these tasks that are only tangentially related.
eg. Macro Plot acquiring the stone to rebuild the fountain.
eg. Micro Plot what is about to happen in like 3 hours. I have several planned for each of the three aspects of the Macro Plot.
Additionally, The Companions, Khania, and Mistress Lanvi form an information triangle. Both of my major NPCs will have specific, vital information for you to complete the macro & micro plots. Unfortunately I need them to let you know they have this information and then you need to travel there for it. Sadly, I cannot come up with a super clever way to do this other than a Message spell or just a flat old Deus Ex Machina and handwave you there.
So in the very near future you are going to get your first micro plot, then a DEM to an NPC.
Hope everyone is still having fun, I am so excited to start to ramp up the action on this adventure. I have been writing constantly since April and just now I get to unveil all the fun I have in store for you.
Lastly, as always, RL > PbP. I am ill suited to the patience required for PbP at times when, selfishly, I have the time and my own RL does not inhibit a rabid PbP poster. I apologize if my comments were rude and offensive, your RL is greater than my PbP and I have no excuse if my comments were insensitive to your RL situation. Post when you can, have fun, and know I consider you all friends.
See on the flip side.

Just wanted to comment on that. First off, no worries from me. We might be friends because of gaming, but I wouldn't dare let a game get in the way of that. :)
Also wanted to mention that I know exactly where you are coming from. When we first started this grand adventure, I had gads of time to post. And sometimes I didn't have much time to post, but I did it anyways because it was new and exciting and awesome. (its still exciting and awesome, fyi) I was that guy who was posting 7 times a day and checking every 5 minutes because I could...
This game is awesome, and I love it. I don't want you to take my recent slower posting rates as a referendum on your game or GMing.
You're great, You're great, You're great, and You're great. Everybody's awesome and we're all cool :)
Love you guys :)
PS: Can't wait to get into this even deeper!!

Can I say how awesome it is to have great role players. That is until they role play they way out of the 'difficult' situation you put them in without even breaking a sweat.
Well played everyone.

I wouldn't say I didn't break a sweat :)
I was a nervous for sure, and Gwen is not even the one with a crap-ton of pesh on them :)

Spent too much time reading the frozen thread ;) I'll get a post up tonight. My b$*@~@$+ puckered up when he said he wants to search our bags. Not sure how this is going to turn out...
heh...

hahahahahahahaha b**# h@!~ gets bleeped out.

Weird. Ok... anyways. I am supposedly renting a movie for my family to watch on amazon. This might be a quick post....

heh...
That's what makes it fun. :)
rump hole?
Thanks for the clarification, I was wondering what got bleeped out.
Just waiting on Malgrim to post, sure he is going to acquiesce to the Hellkingts, but just want to make sure.
TheBobJones_GM |
Operation Smuggle Bookkeeper out.
So we are going to have a skill challenge. Haven't had one since way back in the day.
Your goal is to sneak the Bookkeeper out of Magnimar. Feel free to set the scene, start at Mistress Lanvi's estate, and then role play it from there. I will add in some obstacles once it get rolling.
Successes 8; Failures 3
A success/failure is your skill roll vs my unknown, static DC. Remember you can only spend 1 action point for the entirety of the skill challenge.
And feel free to cast any buff you might have, you are Heroes preparing a desperate escape.
TheBobJones_GM |
I realized that I rushed the skill challenge a bit. Please feel free to tie up any loose ends from the Hellknights first. Just wanted to get everything done while I had the chance.
Arimar |
Butt hole. Lazy algorithms make me sad.
Arimar |
FYI, don't know if you can still do the +1d6 with an action point or not. That won't be my free reroll.
TheBobJones_GM |
Thanks for taking the time to post on your phone. I appreciate your commitment.
Action Points need to be spent after a roll, before the results are given. The very last thing in the world I need to worry about is this group cheating so no worries.
Your roll actually passes the DC Benaiah's did not but got a RP bonus for a success. without the Action Point so keep it.
Arimar |
Lovely and thanks! I know it's hard running with someone in vacation on he other side of the world, so I try to keep up. Finding decent wifi can be hard, but fingers crossed the next place has it because we're there for 4 days!
