I am going to let you all run a bit - nice roleplay. Warmed the heart to see it this morning. Ship comes in tomorrow.
As for Benaiah's mutagen/extract. Since I tend to lump a lot in my posts, feel free to change prepared spells, extracts. whatever class abilities until there is an identified enemy.
So currently there is a ship. Feel free to change spells or whatever until I tell you what is on the ship.
Make sense?
Personally the wife and I have hit 3 concerts, thrown 2 large scale parties, and spent 2 days at the beach in the last 9 days. So much RL fun, but looking forward to getting back into PbP.

Trying so hard to get a post in... Just not enough time. I will... As soon as I can. Hopefully this afternoon.

TheBobJones_GM |

Standard Action: Attempt to climb up to the deck of hadozee's ship, using his weirdly long arms to reach high enough for purchase.
And this is why I love homebrew rules. So you are standing on the water and would like to climb onto a boat ... searches PRD .... yeah, let's use LOGIC.
So in my mind the hadozee ship looks like the longships the Vikings sail (and super cool TV series on History). With a reach of 10 feet, you should be able to grip the railing and pull yourself up. Makes sense to me.
Just to clarify
Hadozee on ship: 1 spellcaster (down); 2 body guards, crew unaffected 5, crew affected 7
You will face some stiff resistance boarding as the crew is split 50/50.

TheBobJones_GM |

Bit more on Enthralled.
You have yet to attack, but when you do, be it affected or unaffected hadozee, the enthralled effect will end.
If any member of the audience is attacked or subjected to some other overtly hostile act, the spell ends and the previously enthralled members become immediately unfriendly toward you.

Arimar |

I read the spell to mean 'the audience' to be those who failed their save and are actually enthralled. Those unaffected are no longer listening (ie. they're trying to repel the intruders) and thus no longer a part of the audience.
... those affected give you their undivided attention, ignoring their surroundings.
This to me means that it is 'those affected' who are the audience. Either way, I'd assume that once the unaffected hadozee move off and attack us, they are no longer audience members... so if we only attack those who are attacking us, it'd be fine. For Arimar's part, he'll avoid attacking anyone while he continues his speech.
You are the GM, of course, and I bow to your interpretation, just thought I'd offer mine.

TheBobJones_GM |

Interesting take.
Because this is happening in such an enclosed space i.e. a boat, the affected and unaffected are so close to each other that in my opinion they are an audience.
Recently we saw a band that my wife absolutely loves. Scattered around us were people ranging from insane to uninterested (paying solitaire and checking Facebook on phones) while she screamed and danced.
She would have been considered enthralled while others were not. Should violence break out, I am sure that everyone would ignore the band on concentrate on what was occurring. Regardless, you get a round or two after enthrall ends. Don't be overly concerned at this point.
I'll keep thinking about it.

Arimar |

It's cool, mate. As I said, you are GM. I am 100% behind the "GM's word is law" style of play. As a player, I sometimes like to know that my opinion is heard, even if it is ignored.
That is all. I have total faith that regardless of the decision you make, it is either going to be totally fair or part of your grander design... or simply just a differing opinion. Please just go with your feeling on this and don't dedicate too much time to it. I'm happy either way.

TheBobJones_GM |

Sorry everyone. Out of town. Thought I could wrap this up and be in Magminar before I left. Expect some spotty posting for me until GenCon.

![]() |

No worries, dude! Enjoy the trip!

Arimar |

No problems! Enjoy the buzz. I for one am appreciating the spare time. I'm living in a madhouse right now, and GenCon is 7 days away!!!

Malgrim Stoneseer |

Don't sweat it. It seems like everyone is a bit "mid summer / gen con" daze and a bunch of games are moving slowly.
Hope you guys have a good week of gaming :)

TheBobJones_GM |

Appologies for the delayed post, but I am back :)
Just wanted to say thanks for allowing me to run this game, as much of the source materials I used came from an old 3.5 sourcebook called Stormwrack. Something I could never have done before.
So we are 'done' with the prologue portion of the adventure, and about to move into the adventure proper that I actually began writing in April - lolz.
As always, you are free to say 'No' and we can go in a different direction. It is so much fun to write it that I would be totally ok with you saying no.
Once you terminate your employment with Mistress Lanvi, you will get to level up so please start to nerd out over your crunch.

TheBobJones_GM |

Ok, boys, level up time.
The original three get 2,000 for the passage from Absalom to Magnimar plus you get to divide Caerador's gold however you see fit.
Keoki gets 1,000 for his part.
You also have access to mundane items (less than 100 gp) for free from Mistress Lanvi.
You can also make a day job check. If you roll dice I am driving to your receptive homes and punching you in the face. Role play it and give yourself 100 extra gp. Only if you roleplay it. And it can be any skill you want.
Lastly, we come to a bit of a crossroads. You are going to get multiple offers from multiple people, and you can decide to accept or reject any and all offers. Totally up to you.
Take the weekend to level up and buy some items. Roleplay Magnimar as much or little as you want. I will be here, but I will not push the adventure forward until Monday at the earliest, later if you are having fun.

Arimar |

Woooo! LEVEL UP! Is Caerador out for good, or should we be investing his gold for a later return?
Ew... day jobs... I think you know how I feel about PFS. Still, I feel better about 100 gp (ie. 4 HD worth of obsidian), so I'll do it. We'll see where the next few posts take me.
Going to be post-time strapped today, but hoping to make up for it over the weekend if I can't get one in. Should be leveled up by Monday no troubles at all.

![]() |

I don't want to speak for him, but I am pretty sure Caerador is out for good.
I'll work on my level up this weekend. I've got a couple ideas percolating for a 'day job'...
Anyone need any forged documents? Benaiah's your guy!

Arimar |

Heh. Made a post. Arimar updated. Amazing what I can do while tethered at my daughter's swimming lesson.

Arimar |

By the way, guys, Arimar has craft wondrous item. If we have enough downtime, I can help you with some half-price stuff. Even without, I can still make progress while adventuring. Just let me know!
Major purchases for me after getting paid (includes some cash I had saved, and an even split of Caerador between Benaiah, Malgrim and I):
- Scroll of restoration; and
- Ring of protection +1.

![]() |

Sweet, a level up! That's great news! I think level 5 is basically a dead level for the medium, but it gets me one step closer to level 6 (which is a big one). It's been fun RPing as Keoki so far, so I'm excited to see where this story goes, especially if this still the intro/prologue! I have no idea what to spend gold on, but I'll take a thousand without question. Thanks :)
Keoki's is leveled up and his paizo avatar is updated.

![]() |

Benaiah is updated - No time yet for a post.
I am loving Keoki's posts, and the way you switched spirits for the card game... so awesome.
/slow clap

![]() |

Before I forget, Purchases so far:
Added to formula book:
Invisibility
Levitate
Blur
Darkvision
Resist energy
restoration, lesser
(all 40gp each)
also purchased cloak of resistance.
Still have almost 1900 gp to spend, but if I spend any more time on this computer my wife is going to stick a pencil in my ear.

Arimar |

Benaiah, Arimar can craft you a cloak in less than a day for half the price... you just need to ask him in character. ;-)
Also, bravo, Keoki.
/standing ovation

![]() |

I will absolutely take that half price cloak!
For that matter, I will take a cloak of resistance +2 since I could afford the crafting costs for that. Gotta get that will save up!!
This also reminds me, I have the brew potion feat as well, so I can make any potion that is in my formula book for half price as well. Formula book is in a spoiler in my profile, updated with my recent purchases.
This means if there are any other potions you think we should have a small (or large) stash of, but the spell isn't in my book, let me know. They are relatively inexpensive to add.
I'll re-finesse the stats and remaining gold tonight.
Also, based on the success of my buff table for Boros over Gen Con, I have tried to duplicate that for all of the buffs that Benaiah might get. That is also spoilered in my profile. I've 'tested' it by choosing various combinations and manually adding it up, then clicking all the boxes in hero lab to see if they matched - all good. This should make it much easier to keep things updated on the fly when I don't have access to hero lab.

Arimar |

Yeah, so I checked the first roll of the next post and it was way more interesting. Some creative editing and... I hope no-one minds.
Also, John, I hope all this dice rolling for my day job doesn't count against us for the "If you roll dice I am driving to your receppective homes and punching you in the face" rule. Though, a punch in the face would be worth it to see you in Houston (especially after the 1,100 mile drive).

TheBobJones_GM |

Point of Clarification
So Keoki, if I understand the Medium class features correctly, you do not physically change into your different aspects.
So the assembled would still see Keoki, but a different spirit has taken control of him.
So he looks like Keoki, but acts like Scarlet.
Is that correct?

![]() |

@ TheBobJones_GM: Yep, you are exactly right. I've tried to add in a little bit extra simply for the RP of it, for example, by saying his features are softer and more feminine and that his voice is higher in pitch, etc.. But he still looks like Keoki, and still is Keoki. Mostly, I was just going for that he still looks basically the same, but now talks like a different person and very subtle differences in his appearance mirror that of the spirit which has taken hold of him.
I hope this hasn't been too confusing for you all. When I picked the different avatars for the other spirits, the hope was that it would just show which spirit is inhabiting him, not that he has (completely) physically change into a new person.

Arimar |

Not confusing at all. I hope you found Arimar's reactions (and internal thoughts) appropriate. ;-)

![]() |

I loved Arimar's reactions, and thoughts, and I appreciate you going along with how weird this toon is. Also, to put everyone's mind at ease, I won't need to bogart the spotlight every time he calls up a spirit, I just wanted to (hopefully) show how it worked the first time in great detail :)

TheBobJones_GM |

Ok, so you have asked some great questions. I don't want to push the plot because if you accept The Collector's offer, it is important to gear up and know exactly what you are in for. The Plane of Shadows or Shadowsfall as the inhabitants call it, will not have a ton of hospitable cities.
Please do ask questions, and make sure to look at the dossier linked at the top of the Campaign Tab.
Just know you will get a least two other offers before tomorrow morning. I know, very Dickens of me.

Arimar |

Two more offers? Yeah! We can play them off against the other to get the best deal. Ah, when it rains it pours. Never been so happy to be out of the Pathfinder Society. ;-)

Arimar |

Wow, didn't know how emo Arimar would end up being. Sorry for all the negativity - it's just his style (he does after all channel negative energy).
Anyway, I just wanted to put it out there for the record that while Arimar has a massive bug up his butt regarding their treatment from Mistress Lanvi, I personally have more invested in that storyline than the Plane of Shadows. Part of me really wants to see the Plane of Shadows (I love planar stuff) and the other part really wants to help restore a network of hooker-spies and get down and dirty on the streets of Magnimar (one of my favorite cities, provided Sheila Heidmarch never, f$~%ing ever, makes an appearance or even gets a mention).
So, please don't take Arimar's bad attitude as any kind of unwillingness from me as a player to do the Magnimar thing. I'm happy with the group decision and, as I'm torn, perfectly okay with either option.
Of course, on the Plane of Shadows, my Budding Zombie Army™ (soon to be mostly bloody skeletons now that I have the right spell) will have a chance to grow, rather than sit it out as it will have to in Magnimar.
Can't wait to see what the Ghost of Christmas Future has in store!

![]() |

Hahahaha! I loved that exchange. I need some time to put something together, and time is in limited supply today.
Loving this, and the options, and the story.

TheBobJones_GM |

Just want everyone to know I am here lurking. Take as much time as you need. I will move this along when you are ready.
Also wanted to add what a great job role playing in character you all have done. I am blessed with a group of great players.

Arimar |

I'm personally ready to move on. Said more than my piece. I'll in-game that tomorrow if it hasn't moved already.

TheBobJones_GM |

Malgrim brought up the possibility it might be a trap. Now, I would never take away a character's autonomy, so when everyone is ready to move on, let's do it in character.

Arimar |

Now, I would never take away a character's autonomy...
What? And miss the opportunity to get called on it and then rant on and on about it, drunk and half naked in someone's hotel room - before passing out and snoring noisily on their bathroom floor? You disappoint me, sir.

/shudder

Malgrim Stoneseer |

As a character, Malgrim is suspicious that there's a trap likely, if not by this particular contact, then in the near future.
As a player, I know that there's a trap likely, if not by this particular contact, then in the near future
In both cases, I'm ready to move on whenever ;)

TheBobJones_GM |

Since your level up, please make sure you all update your character atributes
But don't worry, this isn't a trap.
Or am I saying it because it is a trap.
But that could be something I am saying just to throw you off.
Regardless, I have built up a tolerance to iocane powder. So there is that.

TheBobJones_GM |

Sorry everyone. Today got away from me a bit. I will try to get a post up by tomorrow noon.
Again apologies for the delay.

TheBobJones_GM |

And just like that I found some time. Weird how that happens.

![]() |

Sorry for the delay on posting, everyone. This is a big weekend with the family, hanging out for my niece and nephews's birthday parties, and such.

Arimar |

Just to be clear, detect magic is a divination spell and in no way necromantic. My spells are hidden as sorcerer spells, if available, then bard then alchemist.
Wanted to point that out in case the color description was also the ooc interpretation.

TheBobJones_GM |

Arimar The aura was not yet described.
It was just some sloppy writing on my part to increase the 'tension' having a necromancer cast a spell in the temple of Sarenrae. Sorry about that.
... Hanging out for my niece and nephews's birthday parties, and such.
So exciting! Enjoy your time and worry not. I have my first Fantasy draft at my cousin's house tomorrow afternoon so everyone post what you can this weekend and we will pick up full speed Monday.
