The Experiment
You were in the middle of engaging in an ordinary daily event on your home planet when a bright flash stunned you, followed by a loud bang. The next thing that you become aware of is that you are locked in a small cell. You have bandages and scars in strange places. Each day you witness other creatures, semiconscious shackled to large tables as they undergo various procedures. You hear screams and moans from other cells. Words cry out, in many languages that you don’t understand. You are in a strange place and you feel a sense of impending doom. Pain, filth and worry are your daily tormentors. You must escape and find a way to get back home!
Welcome to the Experiment! A Homebrew where the PCs are original races that are alien to Golarion. Custom races need only apply.

Character Creation::

Level 1
20 point buy (Before racial modifiers)
You must create an alias to submit with full crunch and back story.
You must create a Custom Race (15RP max, subject to my approval).
All Paizo classes and archetypes allowed. Some may need to be re-flavored.
No starting gear and no wealth (your possessions have been taken and in some cases destroyed in the process of analysis. I will try to provide weaponry and armor based upon your build.)
Max HP to start
Must have at least one weakness
Two Traits
Early firearms only
No evil alignments; no pvp
Only Paizo material

Your Background Story Guidelines:

You awake to find that you have been kidnapped from your world and brought to Golarian by your captors. You currently occupy a 5 foot by 10 foot cell, wearing only a light blue smock. Every day, you witness dark-hooded figures conducting experiments on other humanoids and monsters and find it hard to rest amongst the non-stop shrieking. You are not of this world. You were grabbed alone while on your own planet or dimension.

What is your home like? How did you grow up? What did you do there? Did you have any family? Explain how you were trained? What were you doing when you were kidnapped? How did it happen? What is your weakness or weaknesses? What deity or deities do you follow? (You’ll have to make these up and compare them to Golarian deities). What can you craft? What was your profession if any? What do you miss about home?
Please explain your character’s disposition and account for their attribute scores.
Explain their traits as well.
You will start by speaking a custom language and not being fluent in any language of Golarian yet, unless you have an intelligence score of 16 or greater. Then you may speak common, only if your character’s class is one that would have studied intergalactic languages. If not, RP broken common.

Appearance::

You must be thorough in describing your appearance. Include as much detail as possible, especially details that are important to the function of the PC. You will receive a useful wondrous item for linking artwork of your character in the alias. Also, include age, gender, height and weight. Explain age in relation to human terms.

I will be accepting one sentient construct to be custom made.

Construct guidelines:

15 point-buy to balance no constitution score.
+10 Hit points instead of +20
You must use the robot subtype as you will have weakness to electricity and critical hits.
A construct will never die.

Character art will earn your PC a special magic item that they will find quickly in the campaign. Links are fine.

The Jungle Orc:

They range from blue to red to green,
highly adaptable in the sense that their skin often depicts kinda where they are from
they are humanoid, shorter in stature than humans by a foot to a half a foot
Hardly noticeably there arms and legs are proportionally longer than humans
their
Heads are a little bigger as well,
BUT only slightly noticeable
They have tusks that come out of their mouths from one to three inches,
No noses, instead, a slit like nose, (like voldemort. Thats the only thing I can think of that it would look like)
Eyes are yellow, or greenish yellow, with beady black pupils, but they go extremely bloodshot when enraged.
I was thinking about going with red ones live by and in the desert, green live in fertile lands like plains and light jungle, and the blue ones live deeeeeep in the jungle
or just in darker places in general
OH also some have like, black splotches on their shoulders
octagonal, Kind of like the plates on turtle shells,
But with space in between
Like freckles
splotchy, and different sized
the splotches tend to be bigger on the tops of the shoulders, and getting smaller
And thats what I got on it so far

Still working on the name, but this is a race I've been developing
Any feedback is well welcomed, and I love the idea of this campaign.
Barbarian, in the works!

Intense! You will have to have access to the advanced race guide for crunch I will try and post a link.

Got the Advanced races guide right here, I'll start it up

That'll work. Create an avatar please. Include crunch and backstory. 20 point buy before racial mods.

Grand Lodge

I am very new to this, so please forgive my ignorance,
But what do you mean by crunch?

The stat block. Hero lab is a character generator that outputs a state block. The slang term for that is crunch. Check out some of my aliases. You can also just type it in character profile.

You need to have a weakness. A vulnerability to something. A vulnerability to cold would be good for your concept.

We will start out underground. There is a chance we will see every type of environment, depending on the PC's choices.

SAweeeeeeeeet! (^_^)

I finally have a possible forum to experiment with this avatar!

Please peruse the work on the page for the avatar so far.

(^_^)

So...when I have time in a day or so (Shift work is a be-yatch) will pork up a suitable race etc.

Very much cheers to you and yours!

Yeah that would make perfect sense, I'll get to work on everything, but i probably wont be able to post a full profile until tomorrow evening

Pardon my ambiguity. The group snatching humanoids is only snatching humanoids. If you are applying for the sole construct role, you will have to create one that is original. It was captured from a rival group and mind wiped. This setting is more fantasy than sci-fi. A bit like steampunk. The construct has no CON and must have a vulnerability.

It can look however you wish but not advanced enough to be an android. More like a clockwork. You can play a child if you wish. It could be like the automaton from movie HUGO.

Grand Lodge

To GM Gristle
I want to replace Bite with natural attack: Gore.
Even swap, i think. Either way, the RP cut from cold weakness should allow me to. Is that alright by you?

@crom okay

@scarlet I briefly followed a pbp of your character Sunny. Great roleplaying.

I don't have to be a Golarion Android (Though if you have the rules/build to them then I can create something based from such ideas) (^_^)

Am happy to be some sort of Biological unit. (^_^)

Silver Crusade

Dude sounds cool, I will likely be creating the Wolven race. I should have most of what you ask done by tomorrow. Is there anything else you may be looking for that we can do for extra specials?

This sounds good. I may resurrect an old concept for a heavily-scarred fey-blooded sorcerer and turn it into a creation of mysterious ritual. A fusion of mortal guise and fey splendour done not by grace and love but by surgery and dark magic (or by whatever means this experiment is done, if unbeknown to the players).

Character Image

I had previously used this character as a deeply scarred and tramatised sorcerer in a PBP, but that game died very quickly and I'd like to reuse an adaptation of the character for this one.

Likely themes and traits: Beautiful but unnerving and frightening, somewhat paranoid and hostile toward authority, and deeply afraid of intimacy of any degree - first quest may be to find totally covering clothes.

It's late and I'm going to bed. I may write up some stuff soon.

@ umbral : it never occurred to me to have a PC that was a Golarion experiment. I will allow this, but what I am truly looking for is a completely home made alien race. Something like four tentacles, bug eyes, etc. Similar to Star Wars creatures without advanced technology.

@bloodwoven: I'm curious to see what you come up with. I am aware of the taxing nature of what I ask, but this campaign is about making that bizarre PC that you have always wanted to make, but never fit in any campaign.

These characters definitely will not be able to just walk into town without the proper disguises because of their strange visages. It would create instant panic.

I will close out recruitment on the 28th. I am hoping to get enough applications to choose 4 organic players and one construct. Hopefully, players will submit various classes that auto-balance party skills.

Grand Lodge

I will be making adjustments to the race to fit the description that I'm working on, I'll post the updates with the description, for your approval

I'm glad to see female players apply.

I guess this is isn't as popular as I thought it would be. The opportunity to create your own race would be a huge selling point.

I can't divulge too much of the background without spoiling the plot.

Applicants, please remember to answer background questions. I am pretty flexible. If it can be logically explained, I'll generally accept it.

I love the idea of having scarlet in the campaign. These people would never take a human or human-looking being, she has CON and should have none and she is too technologically advanced. A more mechanical version would be better. A PC with craft armor would be able to upgrade the construct. A magical PC could enhance her, anyone with disable device could make repairs.

Don't forget to lengthen your tusks if you are using gore as an attack. Also, consider how you will disguise yourself if you walk into a human village.

I threw them in on the edit,

And also I will format that in with the race edits.

Xenarchy looks like a great character. Something like her with a customized race would be a great submission!

The Exchange

I've never looked into creating a custom race before, but it looks interesting. I'll scan the thread to see what I can discern & maybe come up with something, if there's room.
Summary of characters so far?

There no complete characters yet, only working concepts.

The Exchange

When you say "humanoids only" do you mean only humanoid types & subtypes (ie no outsiders or fey, etc)?
I ask mostly for reasons of prerequisites.

D-Kal wrote:

Aberration, humanoid, outsider; it doesn't matter as long as it unlike anything in Golarion.

So I don't even need to be a two-arms two-legs kinda thing?
This could get crayyyzzzyyyyy.

D-Kal wrote:

That is correct. Just remember, races of Golarion regard monstrous races as bad out of fear.

Have fun! 15 RP. One vulnerability. Answer all of my questions in backstory.

You will just have to have a plan for disguise.

Hair grows in a strange way. It roots thicker, and near the ends it fans out like a birds feather. comes in all sorts of strange and exotic colors.

Malatok-Rei: Looks,
Stands at 5’9”, and 185 pounds of muscle. Blue skinned, from the deep jungle, with bloodshot yellow bugging eyes, and red hair in the style of a swept back mohawk, fixed with beads and swept with tree sap. His tusks protrude out around 4.5 inches.

Malatok-Rei comes from a continent called Duyinayai, a land of nomadic tribes of Raksasajang. More specifically he is from the Diggajangala, a massive jungle that sprawls a good majority of the continent. In this jungle lie all sorts of giant beasts, monsters and of course, the Rajaom-Adivas (his Raksasajang tribe). They are the smallest inhabitants of the jungle, and learned to adapt as such.

Malatok-Rei, like most of the people of his tribe, is a hunter gatherer. They use very little metal, instead they mostly use weapons crafted from ironwood blessed by the druids of the tribe. Tribes mainly consist of barbarian warriors, sacred druids, and oracles of the god Molat Boha. Malatok-Rei grew up in the hectic way that most people do in the jungle. Trained to combat the giant foes, running swiftly through the jungle hunting to his hearts content, competing with other males for the hands of girls, Quite carefree. Tribe life is a strange life, strange to us at least. They don't necessarily have families the way we do, instead the tribe is seen as a family, putting no stress on any one person (or two people, as in parents) to raise the children. Though children born around the same time tend to be lumped with each other as a sort of brother or sister. Malatok-Rei was born on the night of three full moons, alongside two other children, Talvara-Rei, and Khulhar-Rei. Thick skinned and hearty, they are born warriors and are trained from birth in the defensive arts to make up for the lack of armor (though hides are not uncommon), and taught to defeat giant-kin. All jungle Raksasajang have an inherent rage ability when they see their allies fall, that is instilled in them from birth in the sense of complete and utter tribe unity (making them valuable allies.). Due to the dark, tropical nature of the jungle, the Raksasajang are subject to cold and bright flashes of light.

The jungle was dark, and quite. The hunting hour was prime, and Malatok-Rei could feel the shifting of the beasts in trees and brush
He shifted his glance to his hunting party, and the huntmaster nodded. This was his first giant. Yes, he had hunted several times before this, and yes he had taken home much game for the tribe. But this.. His first GIANT. It meant that he was ready to be a man, to sire a child, and to make love to the beautiful Talvara-Rei. . It had been his dream since he was old enough to understand reproduction, but rules and rituals were the most important thing in the tribe.
He gazed down from the tree tops again, to the head of the sleeping giant. It was his time to pounce, to strike down the ultimate foe.
Malatok-Rei took a deep breath, and let his rage flow. Eyes, shot horrifically with blood. Muscles tensing and straining. Breathing, growing deeper and faster.
He lept, with hammer held high over his head, ready to deliver a crushing blow. But in that instant, a cataclysmic flash, followed by a deafening bang...

And awaiting confirmation.

Yes, with the new traits I have a very high unarmored AC, but I will not be wearing very much armor, if any at all. (he thinks the steel man is a slow fool, and tends to lean more towards magic items for protection, and his rock of a body)

I was attempting to represent them as antisocial in the general. As I wrote in the racial description, they do business with others as needed, but rarely make actual friends of anyone. This doesn't mean they won't make good adventuring companions, just that they're less likely to put themselves on the line for someone else without there being some profit in it (though keeping the wizard alive is usually in everyone's best interest anyway).

With a -2 to Cha, would you mind if I went 6? That way it's not a total dump, but I don't have to waste a point hitting that odd number.
