I added the bracers to my list, don't do me a lot of good now but I'll get them upgraded eventually. Also, I believe we each took 2 of the cure moderate potions didn't we? I have a pair but I don't recall if they are ones I bought at creation or got from the loot.

Male

I think that would make sense. Assuming that you take the potions, you should each (Korriban, Teo, and Lantressa) have at least 1,123 gp, 6 sp, 2 cp in cash on you.

Also, sorry for the delay guys...with everything going on in the country right now (aka US Election, aka maybe the end of the world as we know it) I've been pretty stressed and it's affected my happy-go-lucky things like this. Sorry about that.

Hope everyone in the US has voted/has solid plans to vote!!

What the actual f&%# is happening?!

Yeah, I'm officially terrified. Like, I've been house shopping lately and now half-seriously wondering if I should move my search to Canada.

(I did go out and vote yesterday, though Clinton was always a shoo-in for my state. Local election was important too though.)

Male

Yes in relation to the election.

I have no words.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

I'm utterly bereft.

Male

I am as well.

Everyone: I'm taking my time to get back into the mood of gaming. I'll probably get a post up tomorrow, but right at the moment I still can't bring myself to spend time on it when I could, instead, be organizing. (Well, and spending hours reading post-election, pre-serious-fallout coverage...which I spend too much time doing.)

If any of you need anything, though, know that I'm here for you. We'll get through this.

Put your oxygen mask on before assisting others and all that.

And so, I have a post up. Sorry it took a while, all.

Forward!

Male

I have been planning this Cristina bomb for so long--as Teodor can attest. It was fun to see it finally go off! :P

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Yup! Excited to see this play out. Describing her was interesting and difficult. Physical descriptions are a weak point for me.

It's okay, Teodor. I thought the physical description of her was fine.

Also, I had an idea of trying to woo Cristina to add more RP opportunities for Korriban and giving more RP between Teodor and Korriban (partly as a way to get back at Teodor's smack talk which could eventually blossom into a genuine romance between Korriban and Cristina). However, I gave it some thought and I am hesitant to engage in the possible romance because she's technically Teodor's npc and I feel like it wouldn't be right to do something like that to an npc from another player.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

She's a real man eater too, best watch out. Is Dama Juanita a female Don juan? Enjoys them and leaves them in a heap. Anca is a bit safer, but they ARE all Niculescus...

LOL I'm trying not to make them be. I (DQ) and Callie are doing a s+&@ty job trying to just say "Hey gotta be careful what we say to whom right now." So we really will just shut up now.

Okay the mocking of the Harrowing might have been tension making, but she knows EXACTLY how to fake a card reading using card tricks, cold reading, and bit of prestidigitation so she doesn't think that's real. THIS Callie hasn't met Zellara yet...

It's okay, Callie. No harm done. Don't need to be quiet. This builds character between all of us. You didn't do a bad job of saying that. I think it's my fault for repeating what you said. And the explanation for the cards is very logical.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Yeah, Teodor is bad at making friends to begin with. Compounded with the deep burning shame seeing Cristina brings him and his fear for Anca's life, well, he's in a bad place.

Thankfully, he also stopped listening to Callie, haha

I'm back! Thanks for your patience. And don't worry too much about (in-character) friction...that can be fun as long as we all find a way to work together. ;)

Rolling dice isn't pointless, it's just much much easier (for Bluff or Intiidate) when you threaten her with Rolth.

The DC of the Diplomacy check was ludicrously high, but Korriban happened to get that great roll, so a few assists might have helped make it up. XP

Male

Hey, so this seems like as good a place as any to tell you guys to level up to level 6!

Hit points gained are half-hit-die + 1 + CON (just like PFS). If you're still carrying damage from the previous fight, just add that same amount to your current hit points. If you have new spell slots go ahead and fill them in, but keep any used spells crossed off for today. Callie, don't forget you were going to swap out glitterdust!

I normally try to do level ups in "downtime." But...better safe than sorry here, I think.

;)

Human Bard - Arcane Duelist 9 [ HP: 41/57 AC:22(21) T:14(13) FF:19 | CMD 22 | Fort +7, Ref +11(10), Will +8 | Init +4 Perc: +8 | 1st/day 7/7, 2nd/day 5/5 3rd/day 2/4; Perf rds 21/25 | Disruptive I message, see invisible 90 minutes, haste 8 rounds (from 9)

Well, we WERE threatening her with Rolth, which is why I don't understand why it was ineffective. At least, I interpreted her dialogue that she believed if we maimed or killed her, he'd summon her soul to him and be able to use his necromancy to keep her in spirit form by his side. So threatening her soul would keep her away from Rolth for eternity. Which if Rolth was the only thing she cared about, would be pretty frightening.

Based on that, I thought Lantressa had a really good idea--make her really believe there would be no way to return any essence of her to Rolth--and I was trying to back her up.

It's all academic now anyway, but that's what I was going for, for what it's worth. ETA: rereading this, it sounds really argumentative, and that's not what I'm trying to do. Just clarify intent so if there's a way I can do better at that next time, I know what to do.

((Also, I wasn't really trying to threaten to torture her. I knew a character like that wouldn't care about physical injury per se. It really was "try to cast a spell and I will render you incapable of casting spells." (Because you need line of sight/effect for a lot of spells.)) So not "I will cause you pain," but "I will render you powerless."))

I am really glad Teodor and Korriban got it and were able to do something and it worked out. They did an excellent job.

Woot!

ETA: Leveled up since I had a minute. Summary:
+5 HP, +1 BAB, +1 to all saves. Gained Disruption as arcane duelist bonus feat and Bladethirst performance. +2 rounds of bardic performance (it looks like 3 because i had the math wrong before, but it should be 4 + Cha 3 + (5x2)). Spent 9 skill points in Acrobatics, Intimidate, Sleight of Hand, Knowledge Nobility, Sense Motive, and Spellcraft. Can cast 1 more 2nd level spell/day and learned 1 more 2nd level spell + 1 1st level spell for favored class: 1st level: ear-piercing shriek; 2nd level: air walk, heroism (swapped from glitterdust). I think that's it!

I misremembered that see invisible is a 3rd level spell for bards, so I can't learn that now. Still would prefer to swap out glitterdust now, but I'll buy some flour in case we run into more invisible enemies when we have a chance.

Working on my level up, debating about my 3rd level spell known. My favorites thus far are...

For destruction:
standard lightning bolt/fireball
Diamond Spray
The last one there is just kinda cool, and the fact it ignores hardness has some uses.

For Control:
Spiked Pit (potentially very good for the confines of interior environments and streets)
Sleet Storm
Stinking Cloud

For Buff/Debuff/Utility-ish:
Haste
Slow
Vampiric touch

What do you all think? Strongly considering shadow conjuration/evocation later on which open up a lot and make me leery of taking many conjuration or evocation spells.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Hmm... I'd have to say that, for me, it's a toss up between fireball, diamond spray, spiked pit, sleet storm, and haste. However, given the types of environments that we find ourselves in and our party make up, then I'd narrow it down to diamond spray, lightning bolt, haste, or spiked pit.

Also, yay level 6! I am working on leveling up. I just need to decide whether my bonus fighter feat is going to be Power Attack (like I originally planned) or Fencing Grace (which came later and could be useful for my damage output).

Lantressa, FWIW...

For destructive spells, if it's allowed, diamond spray looks good, especially since it comes built in with some DR bypassing. While fireball and lightning bolt are classics for a reason, they're also some of the few fire/heat based spells that ignite combustibles in their path... which could be especially disastrous (or awesome, depending on your POV) in an urban setting.

Of the other spells listed, haste is always useful. Vampiric touch may be a decent offensive spell that is also useful to you and gives you flexibility. A buff not on your list that you might consider is fly -- added mobility in a setting like this could very much come in handy. (But you may have eliminated it for good reason, so.)

Re: spiked pit -- this can be an awesome battle control spell, but one important thing to bear in mind is that all pit-based spells create pits with sloped edges, forcing ALL creatures at the edge of the pit to make a save or fall in. I've seen this go very badly in close-quarters combat. I'm not saying don't take it, but just bear that in mind when thinking about party tactics and where fights typically take place in this AP.

Sleet storm is cool but the radius of effect is HUGE (40 foot radius is pretty big) which again if you're anticipating a lot of close quarters combat can limit its effectiveness/utility. On the plus side, it ignores spell resistance, making it a useful spell against creatures like golems, who will slip and slide around gloriously with no help from their magic immunity. (Of course I don't know if golems are really a concern, but for example.)

My 2 cents. My ultimate advice: pick what you think you'll have the most fun with.

BTW mistyped on my level summary: I took air step, not air walk (which is not a bardic spell).

female | tiefling (pitborn) | sorcerer 8 |HP: 48/50 | AC:14 [17]; T:12; FF:13 [15]| CMB +4, CMD:16 | Fort:+6; Ref:+6; Will:+8 | Init:+2; Perc:+0 Volatile Conduit 1/1 | Beguiling Voice (dc 17) 3/8 | Fascinate (dc 20) 2/2 | Spells: lvl 1 7/8; lvl 2 4/7; lvl 3 3/6; lvl 4 3/4

There, all finished. Had a couple of issues in my stat line which are now corrected. I ended up swapping blur for invis, and decided on something I hadn't considered yet, slow. Tressa is really meant, in the long run, to screw with enemy characters and either damage them or hinder them in some manner and slow does that very well.

While diamond spray is a cool spell that I've never seen before, Callie's definitely right that slow can be a beast in combat. Seems like you've picked something that will work well and fits what you want Tressa to do!

Okay. So I decided to go with Fencing Grace. Gives me the same benefit with my rapier as Power Attack, but without reducing my attack roll.

Level Up!

Level 6!

Fighter (lore warden) 2!

+7 hp! Now at 46!

+1 BAB! Now at +5!
CMB: Now at +6!
CMD: Now at 19!

Fortitude: +1! Now at +5!

+1 Knowledge (nobility) (Now at +6)!
+1 Knowledge (local) (Now at +12)!
+1 Perception (Now at +9 (+11 to locate the traps))!

New Class Features!

Expertise: At 2nd level, a lore warden gains Combat Expertise as a bonus feat, even if he would not normally qualify for this feat.

Combat Expertise: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +1 dodge bonus to your Armor Class. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every +4 thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the dodge bonus increases by +1. You can only choose to use this feat when you declare that you are making an attack or a full-attack action with a melee weapon. The effects of this feat last until your next turn.

Fighter Bonus Feat!
Fencing Grace: When wielding a rapier one-handed, you can add your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to that weapon's damage. The rapier must be one appropriate for your size. You do not gain this benefit while fighting with two weapons or using flurry of blows, or anytime another hand is otherwise occupied.

In addition, if you have the panache class feature, you gain a +2 bonus to your CMD against attempts to disarm you of your rapier while you have at least 1 panache point.
