Raina Thornton |

Hi! Thanks a bunch for selecting me, Norv! I really enjoyed playing Raina for the brief stint I had with her and it's awesome to get another chance to run rampage around Korvosa with her.
The new playtest document was released for the Brawler today, and I believe nothing much changed that would affect me, but I'll have to double-check that.
As a heads up to the party, Raina is never going to be a major damage dealer. I intend on focusing a lot on combat maneuvers (particularly tripping and grappling) rather than outright damage. Hopefully the other members can make up for that. :P

Korriban Balros |

Korriban Balros here. Ready to be a rogue and a smartass. Yeah, I'm going for a Deadpool/Spiderman aspect (no fourth wall jokes, though). There's going to be censored swearing from me. Just so you guys know.

Adoros Porphyria |

Greetings, my fellow compatriots of the 'Gaedren Lamm' lynching posse. I would offer you each a toast in celebration of our future success with this delicious 4663 Terverius red but it seems I'm almost at the bottom of the bottle already. You have my word it was for the greater good, most assuredly. *hiccup*

Raina Thornton |

Hey, Korriban, I noticed that our characters were both tortured by Lamm. We probably knew each other from back then. How long ago was Korriban fed to the croc and ditched, do you think?

Imperia Winthrune |

Hello people!
Can't wait to start the campaign. I wanted to play CotCT for the longest time, thank you very much for being our GM The Norv! :)
Please take a moment to flesh out your characters as fully as possible. A section on your aliases for important NPCs in your life would be nice, but the one thing I really NEED to know before we begin is where and in what conditions you're living right now. That'll help get the narrative kick-started in a big way.
Sure thing, I'll get to it as soon as I can.
For the living conditions, I need you to make a call The Norv. As mentioned in her profile, Imperia studied magic at the Acadamae, so that's where she has lived for years (I imagine her family paid the tuition). Now that she has graduated, she planned to stay in Korvosa to help her sister, on her way to enroll in the Acadamae herself, with the blessing of her family.
Here's the thing: mechanically, Imperia has nowhere near the kind of money she'd need to rent/buy a decent apartment in the classy part of town, but since she has her parents' blessing, from a roleplay point of view I'd expect they'd pay for her living expenses, as they have done for all the years she was at the Acadamae.
So, I've thought of two possibilities:
a)Her parents rented a small but elegant place near the Acadamae for Imperia to live in.
b)Since her sister's disappearance, Imperia couldn't care less about finding a new place to live, and she just rented with her own money and in a hurry a very cheap but terrible place to stay, in the 'bad' part of the city (possibly the place mentioned in her profile, under the 'extra credit' section).
I'm fine either way, just pick the one that makes things easier for you to GM the game! :)

The Norv |

I think it's entirely reasonable that Imperia's family would be supporting her living expenses while she was at school (and since she was supposed to meet her sister, would probably continue doing so). Let's go with that.
And yeah, I've been trying to figure out the chronology of the backstories...Korriban, Raina, and Gadriel were all Little Lambs at one point or another (though Gadriel relatively briefly). It's not unlikely that you guys would have at least passing knowledge of each other, to whatever degree you want to have that.

Korriban Balros |

Well, let's see. He was taken in when he was 5, lived there for 4 years, nearly died and adopted by Lialda at 9 and it's ten years later. So, what do you think, Raina?

Raina Thornton |

If you wouldn't mind cutting yourself down to two traits, as we discussed, I'd appreciate it.
No worries. Done. (I'm considering swapping the Knowledge (Local) skill points around to some other skill as I doubt I'll ever compare to the Wizard, especially without it being a class skill. :P)

I wrote a little about this in my character's bio, but the short version is that she lives in a studio apartment in High Bridge above a greengrocer (Bessa's Best). I imagine it's a two-room affair - a living area with her bed and such as well as a kitchenette, and an adjacent bathroom with a small bath and toilet. 8 gp/month probably puts it as being in reasonable condition and in a reasonably nice area, although nothing special or fancy about it.

Let me see...
Raina's 18 at the moment, and I think she'd have been living on her own for about 2-3 years. Let's say it took 2-3 years for her to move out from the orphanage after escaping from Lamm.
That puts her at about 12-14 when she escaped. I imagined her to be around 10-12 when she was captured. Hmm. We may have missed each other in the system, hehe.

Missed connections and surprising relationships are also always good!

Raina Thornton |

Here's a thought: perhaps they've run into each other as a result of their work? Raina doesn't have a stable job, but it's certainly possible that she's been called in to fill in a guard shift or some such at the Rose in Fiore. (Maybe as extra help on a busy stretch.) So nothing more than passing familiarity, but still an eerie coincidence if/when their background similarities come up...

Adoros Porphyria |

Posted a section on my alias about Adoros' current living situation and a couple NPCs he might know. Here is the copy of it for your records.
Notable Allies
Mauro Reid: A middle-aged Varisian merchant employed by the Porphyria family to run a 'shell' trading company (Reid's Imports) in Korvosa as their local branch since the Porphyria name is censured there. He doesn't know Adoros is in the area but he is someone the cavalier could turn to if he needed assistance, though at the danger of the merchant notifying his family of his location.
Theron Maldonado: A young, popinjay Taldane national living in Korvosa that befriended Adoros soon after the Chelish man came to the city. He is chiefly responsible for diverting Adoros' original mission of reclaiming his family's good name into a spiraling descent of gambling, drinking, and drugs (including Shiver).

Oh, I like that idea.
By the way, did you guys know that I got the name Rosa in Fiore from AC: Brotherhood?

Korriban Balros |

Okay. Just so we can figure things out, I suggest we introduce each other. Add things like name, a little about yourselves, where you live, and what time it is at the time of the post. That way we know how long it will be before the others post.
For example:
My name is Joe. I'm 22 years old. I'm in the Digital Media Technology program in the local techincal college. I'm set for graduation on the 20th of this month. After that, I'm going into the Digital Photography program. I work at a grocery store as a bagger on the weekends and possibly other days. I will keep you guys posted on my schedule if I feel it's important. I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin. At the time of this post, it is 9:39 AM.
EDIT: By the way, my character looks different from the avatar I chose. It's just the closest one I could find. Time: 9:47 AM

Adoros Porphyria |

Hello, Joe! I'm Caleb or if you want to be all formal, Joshua. I'm a Software Developer that has been working on various DoD contracts for the last 10+ years since I got out of college with a B.S. in Information Technology. I live in a small town, Centerville, smack in the middle of the State of Georgia, where the weather can't figure out its mind if it wants to be winter or spring right now.
At the chime, the time will be 10:57 AM. Now back to your regularly scheduled easy listening radio station.

Korriban Balros |

Wow. Okay, very nice, Caleb. Thank you. The wow is coming from the fact that I'm playing with a guy who's worked for the Dept. of Defense. Just wow. I did not see this coming.

Gadriel the Lost |

Name is Chris, but I go by gigz most places. 38 for a couple more weeks, living in the middle of rural Oregon working in IS at the local hospital. I should be able to post several times a day during the week during slow moments, and will try to be on at least once or twice during the weekends. I do have 2 kids, so there may be some weekends where I only get a short repreive from parental duties to participate.
Gadriele will be an odd little character. She's still a child, both mentally and physically, and will be out of sorts at first interacting socially. Abu (her familiar) will also be a large part of her personality, and some thematic choices will revolve around him.
As she's an orphan, there's not a lot of NPC ties but let me see what I can work up.
(edit) Oh, and it's currently 0805 in my neck of the (back)woods. (/edit)

Not really too much to be in awe of there. As contractors, we're the lowest rung of the totem pole. We carry alot of deadlines on our shoulders and few of us that aren't the contracting company or the project lead get any credit for the work we do.
Edit: And just so you know, I'm playing the heck out of a violin in the background when you read the above. And pictures of orphaned puppies and kittens are being slowly transitioned between on the wall over there. Yes, let the tears flow through you. *emperor-steeple-fingers*

Okay, that got depressing very quickly. But still, keep at it and I'm sure you'll be recognized for your efforts.

Sure thing, no problem!
I'm Mike, just turned 28. I live in Italy, work as a videogame designer, and I love RPGs!
What? This is RPGs-Anonymous, isn't it? ;p
Technically, my time is GMT +1, but right now my work schedule is hectic at best, and since I have a computer at hand most of the time, I can check the game and post something virtually at any hour.
@The Norv - I'm putting in my character profile all the extra info requested, about her living arrangements and relations with NPCs. Right now there is only a section on her home, but don't worry! I'll add the rest as soon as I can. ;)

Pleased to meet you, gigz. You just do what you have to do. Life comes first. I also find it funny that Gadriel is the youngest in our group. I don't know why, but I always thought that Korriban would be the youngest. I don't think Korriban would hit on her due to her being 14 (he's a natural flirt) because then it might get awkward, you know? Plus, obviously, the group is going to come to the Rosa. So how would she react to being in a brothel?

Hello, Mike. Pleased to meet you. I don't think I've met an Italian before. Today's a good day. Also, I'm reading your background and appearance and I'm thinking, 'Oh this will be fun'. Because I want to see the dynamic between the upper class Acadamae graduate Imperia and the lowest class adopted son of whores from the poorest part of town, Korriban.
Also, fun fact. I originally had Korriban designed to be a Rakshasa bloodline sorcerer.

Adoros Porphyria |

Okay, that got depressing very quickly. But still, keep at it and I'm sure you'll be recognized for your efforts.
Heh, it's alright. I was teasing you for the most part. We don't do it for the fame, glory, or acclamation of the <insert gender(s) you find attractive>. Though I wouldn't mind the third thing. I mean if we're doing Christmas wishs over here right now, I would not be against any of the above.

Gadriel the Lost |

Gadriele likely doesn't fully understand what a brothel actually is, and by the same token, wouldn't feel awkward about being in one since the concepts the brothel are built around (companionship, lust, love, etc) are still foriegn concepts to her. Once she finds out what goes on there, she probably wouldn't pay much heed to it. She's very adamant about her freedom, her ability to do exactly what she wants when she wants without the yoke of responsibility or expectations. Brothel's would seem to be places where people aren't free, either the employee or the customer.

The Norv |

And I'm Nick! Very pleased to meet you all. I'm 22, and I'm a directing intern at a small theater in Maine right now. My schedule (being a theater employee) can be pretty wonky, but I should be able to post at least once a day, more on some days.
I'm excited to see all these characters interact...I think we managed to find a good balance of alignments, high and low society, motivations, etc.

Raina Thornton |

Hi, all! Call me Alice - that's what most people around here do. I'm 23 years old, and shocked that I'm not the youngest member at the 'table' for the first time ever.
I'm from Australia, and I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Computer Science (just finished my 1st year). I'm one of the less than a half-dozen women in my program, lol. I also have a Bachelor of Arts (majored in Linguistics and Japanese) and most of a Bachelor of Science (majored in biology). As you can see, I have spent much of my university life having absolutely no idea what I want to do in my future.
Right now it is 7:42AM. That's GMT+10 I believe (maybe +11 with daylight savings). I'm available to post quite often, although I've noticed a lot of Americans tend to post when I'm asleep. :P
Mike - a video game designer, that's awesome! That's one of the career paths I'm vaguely considering.

Imperia Winthrune |

I ain't gonna lie, it's hard work, but I wouldn't change it for anything else! In any case, whatever career you choose, I wish you the best of luck Alice! ;)
Also guys, since I'm playing a caster, I'm open to requests if you want a particular spell to be cast on you in battle (like Enlarge Person), or if you need something else that I can conjure up (maybe literally, like a flank buddy!).
Just ask and I'll see what I can do. ;)

Korriban Balros |

By the way, random question. Do you guys know what to do about skinning animals in Pathfinder? Is it a check or what? Why am I asking? No reason; just curious. >:)

Imperia Winthrune |

+1 for what Gadriel said. Survival or the right Profession would be my call too.
Also, I've found this post by James Jacobs to corroborate our speculations! ^_^

Korriban Balros |

Well, crap. None of us have ranks in Survival. What's probably going to have to happen is that Teodor (who has the highest Wisdom bonus) is going to have to make the check and we all provide the aid bonus.

The Norv |

Heheh, I have a feeling I know what you're thinking.
Out of curiosity, how would you guys like to handle the role-playing of NPCs that are more tied to your characters than the campaign (ie. Rosa, Theron, etc., just to name the two who have already appeared). I'm happy to play them, but since they're your creations I'm also happy to leave them in your hands. I've seen both done on these boards.
You guys have a whole day ahead of you before the meeting at sunset, so feel free to use that time to do whatever seems best--go to work, scope out the meeting place, make inquiries about Lamm, etc.

Korriban Balros |

Can we all provide aid bonuses or is it only one person?
