Just add your +2 racial bonus and you'll be good, though I would also like a crunch from you if you want to join.

Intentionally going for that Tom Sawyer, wide-eyed wonderment. Never read nor played the AP.

Young Human... Dex Rogue.

Or he not worth pursuing?

I liked it.

What do you mean not worth pursuing? It would only not be worth pursuing if you didn't want to play the character. In my eye's all classes are equal and as long as you make the character correctly, all roles as well. It would also help to have a nice backstory to pull from and it seems you have the start of an interesting one.

No. Never played ANY AP. I just grabbed things I read in the player's guide, and summary of AP from the paizo description of the AP http://paizo.com/pathfinder/adventurePath/reignOfWinter.

Thank you for the leniency with adding the Cartomancer flavor/fluff.

Could you also make a crunch for me please?

I've got everything done right?

Is there any room for another submission for this group? I've been looking forward to trying out Reign of Winter for some time now. Since we're starting in Taldor and don't know that we're going to a wintry place, I was thinking of perhaps a Summer/fire oriented witch, sort of a rural healer who takes care of the local townsfolk as an apprentice to an older witch.

Varian Seldlon wrote:

Not quite. A good example for a crunch would be to follow what Mirri Willowthir did. It just makes it a lot easier for me to go through.

You also have a drawback when there is no need for one.

edit:

All submissions are welcome, but remember that I am only selecting about 4 people for this and Monday should conclude the recruitment.

I would love a formal crunch please and I would also like more backstory.

DMDM: With the Heirloom weapon trait, would you allow the proficiency to extend to 2 separate Kukris? I'm planning a Rogue (Survivalist/Scout) Rogue and would like him to be using paired Kukris as his primary weaponry.

Putting in for an Ulfen Barbarian (Planning on taking the Elemental rage powers.)

If I remember correctly, some Taldane nobles hire Ulfen Mercenaries as bodyguards. This would get her to Taldor. After that, well, I'm going to leave that for her background. I should have this up later tonight.

Um... they pretty much have the same weapon stats as daggers... except for the crit range.... which is what I'm guessing you're going for.

Hmm... I really don't know if I should allow this... I don't know how much it would affect play balance and it's a trait... I'm assuming that it was balanced to be a trait instead of a feat, but I guess the feat would give you proficiency with all Kukri instead of just two...

You know what? What does the "audience" think? Thumbs down or thumbs up?

Backstory:

“Come, sit, and listen. You, old man, be quiet. I will tell you of the humble beginnings of the great Einar Gunnarson. Now you all know of Einar and that he has been prophesized to unite the land. You may also have heard of his noble friend and ally, Tyr Olafson. Well, that’s me.” He smiles. “Let me tell you of Einar’s past. To know Einar, you have to understand and know his family. His line has had great warriors, shaman, and healers over the years. You see, Einar is truly blessed by the gods. Not only does he have celestial blood in his veins, he is bound to a celestial spirit that protects and strengthens him. This is his family’s secret magic and the source of his power.”

“The binding ritual is done within the first few years of life. Sometimes it takes; sometimes it does not. It was Gunnar that decided that the ritual be done on Einar on the day of his birth. This had not been done before, but Gunnar had a powerful vision from his dreams: his son would become a Linorm King and unite the lands. Gunnar knew their family magic would be needed for Einar to fulfill the legacy foretold in the vision. This would also protect Einar from any who would seek to harm the boy, should his destiny be discovered. The ritual took, as Gunnar knew it would. Gunnarthen presented Einar to Sveinn Blood Eagle. Sveinn saw the boy and listened to Gunnar talk of his vision. Sveinn believed there would be one to rise and unite the lands one day. Many came before him with this claim, but all had failed. But something happened when the great king looked into the baby’s eyes. He saw hope in Einar. Sveinn gave his blessing this day and looked forward to the days ahead, and what would become of Einar.

Even as a boy Einar possessed great power. I became friends with him then, and have been by his side for all his trials and tribulations since. Now his first was not unlike what many of you may go through in a few years. Einar proved to be of warrior spirit and as is tradition with our tribe, he was sent on a hunt. Many beasts dwell in the Stormspear Mountains, so young warriors were not sent deeper than the foothills on their first hunt. But Einar was special and was tasked with a special hunt. The Stormspear Mountains are known to be home to the much feared Yeti. Some call them Abominable Snowmen, because they prey on those that explore the highest mountains. Einar’s first hunt was for yeti. He accepted his task and journeyed into the mountain pass.
Gunnar was proud and gave the boy his sword. Though the blade had no magical properties it was a reprsentation of Einars family line. He took the blade and told his father he would do him proud.

Einar spent days camping, hunting and living off the land in solitude. The mountains themselves, though full of terrifying creatures, were not abundant of food. Because of this Einar would have to venture back down to the hills to hunt day to day. On the fourth day, Einar killed a young boar, which would provide enough food for the next few days if he still had not succeeded in his ultimate task. As he hiked back up the mountain with his kill, he noticed he was being stalked. He kept an eye out but carried on with the cleaning and preparation of his meal as normal. As the smell of charred meat perfumed the mountainside, his stalker attacked. Einar was prepared. He stood and drew his spear readying for the creature. He had trained and now would be the test not only for him, but also for the spirit empowering him. The Ogre charged in and impaled itself on Einar's spear and swung wildly over his head. Einar took advantage drawing his sword and cutting a deep gash into the muscular chest of the ogre. The beast roared out in pain and slumped to the ground calling out for mercy. Einar knew he had bested the creature and learned that it was only attacking because it was hungry.

Einar understood this. He treated the wounds of the beast and asked it to join him in his meal. Einar was curious about this beast. The two rested and feasted together, learning of one another. Einar, always looking to the future, asked the beast to take him to meet its tribe. After resting a day, the two unlikely companions set out to venture deeper into the mountains. A few hours later, they arrived at a cave. The ogre had Einar wait outside as he went in to gather his tribe. All together their tribe numbered ten. There were only two other males; the rest were females and young. It seemed the males did the hunting. The ogre introduced Einar around and told his people of the mercy and hospitality he was given. The tribe, though joyed to have one of their hunters return, were worried of their home now being known to man. Einar, thinking as a leader at even such a young age, seized the situation and forged an alliance with the ogres.

Many days had passed now, and Gunnar started to fear the worst for his son. The morning of the sixth day had come. Gunnar determined to set out and find his son, dead or alive. Just as he was packing, he heard a commotion from outside. It started with screams. Gunnar took up his arms and ran out to see the cause of all this. He came upon Einar, standing with the still wounded ogre, in the middle of the village. Einar embraced his father and told him to lower his sword. He went on to explain that not only did he best the beast in battle but he also forged a relationship between their tribes. The ogres would act as watchers of the mountains and pass and provide protection to the north. They could also be called on for aid if needed. In return, the village needed only to safeguard the location of the cave and provide the ogres protection form would-be hunters if needed. Gunnar could not believe this, but he respected his son’s compact with the ogres. He spent the next few years training in the mountains with the dwarves. He learned to combat their ancient foes. He knew slaying the Linorm would not be enough. There would be resistance from many barbaric tribes of giants and orc so this training too would aid him. It was this day that Einar’s legend began."

Einar is destined to unite the land of the linorm kings by defeating Fafnheir. So this AP is right up his ally. Einar will me a Mighty Godling if you are ok with it. Also would like to use the Half ogre race thanks for the consideration. Einar fits in any Ulfen village so Heldren is fine. I went ahead and purchased cold weather gear since he is from Heldren and would of had it for the winter anyways. Crunch is in the profile. Einars AC will be horrible until level 2. Thanks again.

Rogue needs all the help it can get. I'm fine giving the kukri's the thumbs up.

Silver Crusade

I think I may pick up the Kensai magus, purely to be that more of a "front lineish" fighter. not entirely sure, but I am looking at it.

Silver Crusade

I would even suggest letting him use the glory rogue, gives him a guile pool which functions like ki. in its own rogue like way.

also, there is a rogue talent - rogue finesse, you pick one weapon, you gain dex to hit/damage with that specific weapon.

the "crunch" format is something i see alot. Is this a download? Or online tool to format characters? Does anyone have a link or suggesstion on where to find it?

HeroLab by Lone Wolf. You'll have to buy the packages for the extra stuff after buying the program, but it's a well made piece of software and if it helps them develop it further, I'm all for anything that keeps them in business.

Other than that, I think you'll have to format it by hand.

Um... hero lab... but ya have to kinda pay for the full version. I personally never use it. I just made myself a template and fill in the blanks. I guess you can copy someone's crunch and replace all the values with yours (unless they would take offense to it I guess).

Edit: Ninjaed by AdamWarnock

Thanks, I was playing a Mighty Godling in a modern setting but the GM had to stop running. It was pretty cool so I wanted to try it again. Looking forward to picks. If posting history matters I'm very active on here. I post multiple times a day as long as the story allows for it.

Quickly, what do you mean by cold weather gear? There is a reason why I didn't want anyone to have any yet. The only thing I will allow for purchase are some basic winter clothes as the AP calls for it to be bought within the village. Other winter equipment will either be made by the party, bought elsewhere, or found.

After much deliberation, I think I will be going Kensai, I just feel it fits better. However my AC will be a tad lower at level 1.

this a tad better format wise? also, I am still working on fine tuning him but its mostly there

I still need to do the crunch, but here's a brief background on her.

Backstory:
Raseri Whitescale was born and raised in Kalsgard. She grew into a strong young woman and joined one of the groups of hopefuls that sought to become one of the Ulfen Guard. Before the young warriors could protect an emperor, they first had to prove their mettle protecting one of the many minor nobles that seem to infest Taldor.

Unfortunately for the young woman's hopes of taking thrice her weight in gold from the royal vaults, her temper got in the way when her charge was smitten by her charms and wouldn't take no for an answer. One grasping grope, powerful punch, and broken jaw later, Raseri found herself kicked out of the contingent of hopefuls and told to make her own way back.

Left to her own devices, she wandered from the capital to the village of Heldren, taking odd jobs for coin along the way. SHe's only been in town a few days, helping wherever and however she can.

Personality and Appearance:
If a word could be chosen to describe Raseri, it's boisterous. She's loud, jolly, and more than ready to eagerly throw herself into any brawl in any taverns within ten miles. However, her name does not mean "fury" for nothing. The young woman has a temper to match her flame-red hair. and if her gray eyes ever light in anger, a vicious pounding for the person who roused it is not far behind.

Raseri, unfortunately for her piece of mind, could be an artist's model for a barbarian princess. She prefers to wear sturdy, serviceable clothing rather than the fur bikini that said artist would try to put her in.

For us Arcana people, are you okay with Arcana people who like to play the glass cannon? Ie. we go for shocking grasp, burning hands and the like.

I'm fine with glass cannons, just be careful if I pick you. Act like a second edition Wizard if you go that route, basically rain elderitch fury down on your foes, but be very paranoid and hide behind the meat-shields when you have a chance. If you are caught out in the open, these enemies will not take pity on the spellslinger. ^_^ Good luck!

Hopefully the eldrtich fury of varian will keep their attention. Well, not OVERLY much haha. Provided he is selected of course.

And hopefully, from level three, you will have a couple ready-to-drink shield spells.

Would a noble heart be allowed to later multi-class into Paladin?

Um, I have no knowledge of 2nd edition. I know 3.5, pathfinder, 4e and 5e. But I have never played 2nd, so you just spoke gibberish to me. I understood everything else you said, but did not understand the words 2nd edition. Also, I play Sorcerers or on rare occasions arcanists not wizards.

I think he's saying, it's fine with him, but pick your touch attack moments wisely. The melee is brutal.

2E was more role focused. "Protect the Magic-User!" was a valid war cry.

They'd hide away and preferably behind a tank.

I didn't say you had to play a wizard. I said play like a wizard. I was also referring to AD&D... I am sorry for speaking gibberish. In AD&D, wizards were very soft and squishy, more so than pathfinder today. Just about one hit from anything would kill them unless they had contingencies (not just the spell) and/or were very cautious. Also 0 lvl spells didn't exist, the cantrip spell existed, but it was lvl 1 and acted like prestidigitation. So they had to be very, very conservative in their casting.

Background:

“Hege… Hege, you get back in here now,” the brown haired Taldan woman yelled. The little blond girl looked puzzled at her mother and then continued playing in the snow. “Let the girl play a little” a tall blond man rumbled, embracing the woman from behind and looking lovingly at his daughter.

However the looked was changed to one of concern as the man later watched over his little withering in pain from frostbites. He hadn’t been this scared since he arrived in the village after having left the mercenary service of the grand prince. He had never seen something like this; it was as if the cold had a preference for his little girl and would not let her go.

-------

“Hege… Hege, come on keep up” one of the other children called out to the young girl limping after the crowd of kids playing with a ball. The cold had finally left her body but not before claiming the stride in her gait. Now she had learn to manage and moved fairly unhindered around abide at a slower pace.

To compensate for her slower speed her father had taught her how to hide when they moved around the hills of the countryside, a practice not condoned by her mother, who now worried over her every move.

-------

“Hege… Hege, what happened? Are you all right?” As she regained conscience her betroth came in to focus. She was lying on the ground and he was standing above her. Just a moment ago she had performed a mock ceremony for a couple of their friends, who wanted badly to be married. “What happened?” she asked. “As you gave the blessing cold light flowed from you and everyone felt a chill,” he answered fearfully.

That was the end of her relationship with not only him but the entire village, now they feared her, the unknown, only her parents still cared for her. She spend more and more time with her father, seeking refuge in his company and the surrounding nature. Feeling more at home here she soon began to notice the little things living everywhere. While this provide some comfort, she still yearned for acceptance of the community and some nights she would twist and turn fearing she would always be alone.

-------

“Hege… Hege, you’ve got to come help us.” The man who approached her was visibly scared coming this close to the young woman sitting in the cold with out any warm clothing. She looked coldly at him, trying to guess his intentions. She had gotten better at this since they had shone her. “What is it this time?” she inquired. “It’s Iacobus. He slipped on the roof clearing snow. He broke his leg badly, the bone is sticking out,” the man rambled. She nodded thoughtfully as she rose and walked with the messenger. A single tear rolled from the corner of her eye “At least I can help them, even though they fear me,” she thought.

Appearance:

Age: 19 (Adult)
Size: Medium, 5'6", 132 lbs
Type: Humanoid (Human)

A girl of two races Hege combines many traits of her mixed ancestry. From her Ulfen father she has a slight curl to her blond hair, blue eyes, long legs and an indomitable will. Her mother has gifted her with an average height; rounder, less marked features and warmth for others.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments. I haven't found a third trait only one normal and one campaign atm.

Thaco, yes my friend knows about Thaco. and having an ac of -10 to be really tanky makes no sense to me, while having an ac of 10 to be easy to hit, makes even less sense to me. The higher the number the worse off your are.

Yeah, I was actually asking permission to NOT be Lawful Stupid. From your response, we should be on the same page.

I, Djack... do solemnly swear to not be Lawful Stupid! And, you know I mean it because I'm lawful (and not stupid).

I'm also rather gregarious.

So... Heirloom Weapon does open itself to increased benefit on this very specific case. I know because I love rogues and have thought of many a way to tweak them.

But, thumbs up!

Thanks for your understanding. I had a player once that tried to smite everything, would never use detect evil, and would randomly barge into peoples houses declaring his faith and his station as a paladin and wondered why most of them were pissed off at him. He would also flip-flop from being a saint (ex: lets not let the rogue do anything without supervision and lets try to make nice with the monsters) to being blood thirsty as all get out.... I'm kinda exaggerating the blood thirsty part... but he kept running into battles willy-nilly and got himself killed twice during the campaign... The third time he died the rest of the party decided that he should rest in pieces.... I mean peace. (of course this was also back in 2nd Edition AD&D...)

You just multiple your AC by -1, right?

AdamWarnock wrote:

Um... its more complicated than that. THAC0 and AD&D AC

THAC0 being based on class and level (and the right stats) and AC being based on stats and equipment (and maybe class).

Then: THAC0 - AC = Number you want to roll over (being the only roll in AD&D at the time besides percentiles where getting a high roll was good).

Oh, never mind. I got things mixed up, sorry about that.

Background:

Raseri, unfortunately for her piece of mind and other's bones, could be an artist's model for a beautiful barbarian princess. She prefers to wear sturdy, serviceable clothing rather than the fur bikini that said artist would try to put her in.

DMDM: Do you have any suggestions for her background or any questions?
