I'm interested with the character below. He is currently in the early stages of a RoW, but the GM has stated that RL may take over. Sadly, I have already run into issues with the current GM. Normally, I would not apply for another PbP with a character already in one, but I think the GM and I do not agree with one another
** spoiler omitted **
I would have to update for the current build requirements, but for now, below is the planned character.
** spoiler omitted **...
I will allow you to make that submission, but I don't like the idea of taking someone else's player. If the RL situation was for certain to take out the GM, then I would indeed welcome you with more open arms.
Are you certain that you want to abandon your other group for mine? Are you sure (if he does indeed continue) that you can't work the issues you and your DM are having? I'm not saying to not make a submission, but I want to make sure that if I do indeed pick you that you will be committed to the group and not have regrets about it.
Also something to think about... I am a new pbp DM. Would you be willing to work with me through this new process that I'm going through? Just thoughts to think about. If you are indeed determined to make a submission, then go for it and welcome to the thread! ^_^
Edit:
Also, I think you should stick to 4 if you feel more comfortable with 4. I understand that 5 may increase survival, but if it becomes too much work for you to adjust, then the game risks dying. Which is worse than a party member or two doing so.
I understand the push, as more players allows more people to be chosen, but since the GM does the most work in a campaign (especially a PbP) then what you're willing to take on is more important.
I understand.... I will think more on it, but my decision for now is to do 5. It will mean more work on my part, but 5 does mean higher survival rate (in most cases), more possibility of posts, and the ability to have one player drop out and take on another one with out slowing down the game too much.
Also, like I said earlier, if the people I pick are willing to work with me and my blunderings (if I indeed have them) then I will try my best to overcome these obstacles and finish the AP at some time in the future (instead of just dropping it).

I had to read your post a few times before I figured out that it was the other games GM that you were having problems with. I made a character for another game that never started and just recently got him into another game. I know how frustrating it can be.

Caladrel Wintergrasp |

@ Caladrel Wintergrasp: Did you become a Winter Witch, Cartomancer or did you become a Cartomancer? I'm just asking because that's all you list as an archetype and I thought earlier that's what you were going for. Also, you can only have 3 cantrips memorized at a time and don't start with ray of frost but can get it later if you are a Winter Witch.
Winter Witch/Cartomancer (both) as agreed in earlier post. It was noted as such on my "crunches" but missed updating it on my alias' class/level tagline... sorry. Done now.
shaking his fist while looking up to the sky and exclaiming...
"Damn you, paizo boards and your lack of [replace all] spellcheck feature!"
Cantrips: A winter witch adds ray of frost to her spell
list, but does not automatically learn this cantrip.
I must have looked at EVERY other level of witch and seen 4 x 0-level, and somehow missed that only at 1st lvl they get 3 instead. I removed one (read magic) from my alias profile standard prep. I thought in keeping with the theme of the Winter Witch, I would keep ray of frost. Done also.
Would you like an updated "crunch"?

Sevante |

@ Sevante: I like your character so far (nice background and character creation), but can you have a Investigator's kit (can be found on D20 not in ultimate equipment) and some thieves tools (not that they have to be called thieves tools but they can be an item equivalent)?
I had been planning on buying them already. :D Although, I do have to admit the investigator has low starting GP for such an expensive kit...
I did take a different campaign trait (as it seems everyone has restless wayfarer or northern ancestry,) and updated his background to show such. So, without furhter ado, I present a finalized Sevante:

Traits:
Adaptive Magic: The wonders of magic have always fascinated you, and you find the urge to tinker and experiment with magic almost irresistible. You could be the child of an alchemist, wizard, or witch; a member of the Pathf inder Society; or maybe someone with a touch of fey or dragon blood. You may not be trained in magic, and you’ve had your share of accidental mishaps, but you possess a natural knack for activating magic items. You’ve always been intrigued by the cold magic of the winter witches and ice mages of the North, and would love to get your hands on some of their magic items. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Use Magic Device checks, and Use Magic Device is a class skill for you.
Helpful:
You always know the best way to assist your companions, be it assisting them with a task, defending them in battle, or helping them place a well-aimed strike. When using the aid another action, you grant your ally a +3 bonus instead of a +2 bonus.
Affable:
You have a genial personality and make it a point to befriend and help people wherever you go. In your travels, you stop to aid others, tell interesting stories, and often buy rounds of drinks for patrons at the local taverns. You bring good cheer to those you encounter, and for this reason, you often find yourself attending important events or fruitful gatherings, and have even become an honorary member of many families. People find you trustworthy, and they are willing to share information with you. You gain a +2 trait bonus on Diplomacy checks to gather information, and can do so in half the normal time. In addition, Diplomacy and Knowledge (local) are always class skills for you.

Multitalented: two favored classes (Investigator, and ?)
Low-light Vision
Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race.
Alchemy
Inspiration (4/day): An investigator is beyond skilled and knowledgeable—he also possesses keen powers of observation and deduction above and beyond the abilities of others. An investigator typically uses these powers to aid in their investigations, but can use these f lashes of inspiration for other situations. An investigator has the ability to augment skill checks and ability checks through his brilliant inspiration. The investigator has an inspiration pool equal to 1/2 his investigator level + his Intelligence bonus, minimum 1. As a free action, he can expend one use of inspiration from his pool to add 1d6 to the result of that check (including any he takes 10 or 20 on). This choice is made after the check is rolled and before the results are revealed. An investigator can only use inspiration once per check or roll. The investigator can use inspiration on any Knowledge, Linguistics, or Spellcraft skill checks without spending a use of inspiration, provided he’s trained in that skill. An investigator’s inspiration pool refreshes each day, typically after he gets a restful night’s sleep. Inspiration can also be used on attack rolls and saving throws, though at the cost of expending two uses of inspiration from the investigator’s pool. In the case of saving throws, using inspiration is an immediate action.
rather than a free action.
Trap finding: An investigator adds half his level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device checks (minimum 1). An investigator can use Disable Device to disarm magical traps.

Description
--------------------
A tall and somewhat robust man, Sevante is a surprisingly weak man. He can drink many man under the table but ask him to overpower the same man and the half-elf suddenly doesn’t seem so powerful. He keeps his long blonde hair braided back and out of his blue eyes. Although this does show off his ears a little more than he’d like. An experienced traveler from both his childhood and his profession, Sevate is adapts his personality to the area. He always tries to blend in and Coax out the next story, whether of the ‘gigantic snow storm six years back’ or the adventures of Harry the Hero.
However, Sevante is an interesting contradiction. He genuinely loves people and enjoys being around them but finds being with them for extended periods tiring. Often his carefree and open attitude is a front; he usually has some worry or anxiety gnawing at the back of his mind and he doesn’t always give complete answers to questions asked of him. However, his joy over a good tidbit of information or his open concern for others is rarely forced.
--------------------
Background
--------------------
Sevante grew up always on the move.
His father, Ragnar, once seduced a beautiful elven woman. A few months later, the same woman ended up on his doorstep with “his” child. Ragnar proved to be a caring and considerate father despite being a full-time Pathfinder. At first, the Ulfen man left his son with caretakers whenever work required him to be away from his home in Abasalom, but he soon found it prohibitively expensive. When Sevante was old enough to walk on his own, Ragnar would start bringing the ‘little tyke’ along with him, often telling stories about his homeland of the linnorm kings.
When actually on a mission, Ragnar would leave his son in the care of the nearest lodge. Sevante quickly learned to entertain himself, but finding the only books available were the exceedingly dry chronicles, he soon took to asking Pathfinders about their lives or their adventures and soon taught himself many ways or tricks to getting even the gruffest man to open up. His favorite stories, though, always had to deal with the Inner Sea’s frozen north: the spine-tingling Linnorms, the life-threatening conditions, and particularly the its magic and the people who practice it.
Ragnar, after years of dedicated, hard work, was finally able to get a permanent post in his home country. He finally began to, belatedly, teach his son many of the important skills needed to survive in a frozen tundra. This further fueled the half elf’s interest in the cold and winter and kindled a desire to understand weather and magic’s effect on it. By the age of twenty-three he had trained himself as an amateur expert on weather and how magic influences it. He finally read some of the dry chronicles, noting the weather patterns from decades and centuries before. He also developed a keen interest in magical items, particularly the ones with power ofver the weather. When he heard about the odd weather in Southern Taldor, he had to investigate…
Also Sevante is going to be more focused on assisting in battle (aid another, UMD, infusion etc. focused rather than damage focused...)

Well, everyone has to start somewhere.
As a beginner, have you read Painlord's Guide to PbP GMing: Make Your World a Better Place?
A lot of good tips and tricks in there. I don't agree with all points, but the majority of them are good enough that the few I disagree with are acceptable.
Also, do you know how you intend on mapping (if at all)? There are so many different methods, preferences, and ones inaccessible at some workplaces.
I would swap his MW backpack for a regular one, and his spear for a longspear.
Take one more trait, probably Wisdom of Irori
And put 5 more point buy into his Chr to up it to 18.
Also, sending you a PM.

@ Caladrel Wintergrasp: Its fine, you don't have to give me a new crunch.
Cantrips: A winter witch adds ray of frost to her spell list, but does not automatically learn this cantrip.
I was also referring to this little line of text. The Winter Witch places the spell on his/her spell list for being a Witch and does not automatically learn it. Meaning that normally the Winter Witch does not start with it on his/her spells known list.
I also thought about it and think its idiotic to not be able to have all of your Cantrips at first level and will allow you to take it.
@ Servante: Don't worry about the money at the moment. If you are picked I'm sure you will have ample opportunities to gain your money back post haste.
@ Aardvark Barbarian: Thank you for providing the link, but I have already found that particular thread and have perused some of its contents.
Also to answer your mapping question, I have thought about going about it with 2 ways: Theater of the mind (not the most attentive way to go about it, but it is classic rpg and works well if everyone is very imaginative) or to set up Roll 20 accounts and use it for character positioning (the problem with that is the sleight learning curve and how it would take up a little time in the beginning... I have also only used it once or twice so I can't help very much when it comes to teaching, but from what I've seen and experimented with it works wonders for online play). When the selection process is over, I guess I can discuss it more at length with the players how they want to go about this.

Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |

What roles have not been submitted? I'm not really sure what to make here...the only thing that really interests me about Reign of Winter is the Frozen Stars part. But that part I REALLY like. I just don't know what kind of character I want to play, so I need a bit of guidance to start me off...
Every role seems to have been covered with multiple submissions. You could make a submission for the new "Wild Card" 5th Character and make anything.... I don't know what else to tell you.
P.S. It sounds like you have already played the AP. If this is the case and you are selected, please keep Player Knowledge and Character Knowledge separate.

Don't know how familiar you are with this, but most PFS pbp games i play, make use of a "google docs" map that allows players to move their characters. Which is very convienient, user friendly, and from what I understand... easy to use (as a GM). It doesn't require any download or fees.
just a suggestion.

Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |

@ Caladrel Wintergrasp: I am well aware of people using "google docs" for this sort of thing.... but really haven't figured out how I could use it. Roll 20 is also free and gives a run down of how to do most everything, of course some of the editing and what not was kinda weird to figure out (though I figured out most of it) and I haven't used it in an actual game yet. I could figure out google docs, but I am more familiar with Roll 20 at the moment. If maybe someone could give me a run down of google docs and how to use it for this sort of thing, I could compare the 2 and make a logical decision as to what would be better for the group.
@ Grandma Mable: "I'll take one!" The cookie appears in the robed figure's hand mysteriously and he takes a bite, "Thanks for the treat."

Sevante |

Sevanteedges closer to the plate of delicious smelling cookies before gingerly taking one when no one is watching... After quickly finishing it off he wipes the crumbs from his face and asks, "So...'Grandma' Mable huh? Sounds like there's a good story behind that name, you look barely old enough to be someone's mother much less their grandparent... and you make amazing cookies!
Diplomacy (gather information?): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Dang slight of hand is a trained only skill... not that he's likely to use it much.

be warned! if selected, AND my character dies... ALL because I wasn't able to have that 4th cantrip "read magic". I will taunt you incessantly! Regardless of the fact that you're simply adhering to the rules.
I hope you can live with THAT on you concience!
I'm being sarcastic, of course.

Caladrel Wintergrasp |

oh sure... someone with "grandma" in the name hands out cookies and everyone swallows them down and rejoices....
a dude with a thick mustache, and tank top... jumping out of a windowless van, does the same thing... and... well let's face it. NO REJOICING!
just saying, be careful of stranger's with cookies. ah, but i kid.
What kind of cookies are you offering? It would impolite not to accept your graceous courtesy, but I would also like to know what I'm shoving in my mouth!

Grandma Mable |

"Well dear I have chocolate chip of course and over here are some peanut butter and my favorite almond delights with chocolate chips almonds and white chocolate. If you prefer something else let me know I might know how to cook it."
Hay I do look like an old lady I take 20 each morning on my disguise :)
"Oh Sevante you are just being sweet to an old lady." Grandma replies with a smile.

Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |

the finest! straight from the recipe of sweeny todd himself!
You still have commoner listed as your class in your crunch, not that I don't know what your class is, but could you please correct it. Could you also please update your equipment with the magus kit (and get rid of anything that's redundant... However if you have the kit already, then please ignore me). I'm also wondering whats with the cold iron dueling sword and armored kilt? You aren't proficient in either of them, not that you can't have them, I'm just wondering.
edit: Also, by my calculations, you have one extra ability point in dex (leaving 2 point buy points to spend if you take it out) and you haven't updated your actual characters ability scores, just your crunch's.

Okay good to know, but Sevante is still liable to sweet talk someone for a good story. And old people always have the best (or at least interesting) stories...
"One should be sweet to such a beautiful lady. Though surely you have a good tale or two... Such as where you got this wonderful cookie recipe?" Sevante responds taking another cookie and speedily consuming it.

Okay, here's the fast and dirty version of how to use Google Drive/Docs for PBP Battle maps
1.Create a new drawing, title something meaningful
2.Add map using insert image, resize if necessary
3.Add tokens for characters, monsters, and NPCs, resize as appropriate
4.Click share, set permissions so that anyone with the link can edit and copy the link it gives to make a link for your players here on the boards.
----
Trust me, keeping up with stats on the boards is a lot easier than it sounds and gives a record you can go back and look at if need be. It also helps that players only have to worry about one login. Also, you can just create a PSD that has the map on one layer, the fog on another, and just erase the fog as you go, then replace the image of the map as you go. I'll provide links to some of the maps I have up if you want.
A young girl of obvious Ulfen descent gingerly picks up one of the cookies, an almond delight from the looks of it. She sniffs it once before biting off just a little bit. Her eyes light up and she takes another, larger bite, shortly before that and three other cookies disappear. She looks to Grandma Mable with sheer awe shining in her eyes.
"Amazing. What do you call these tongue pleasing delights again? And do you know if mead goes well with them?" she asks in a lilting, singsong accent.
Also, Equipment has been updated. Barbarian kit added, extra things removed.

sorry, fixed it, the cold iron part was a brain derp (from another character) I am hoping the blade I have now will be my black blade so I don't think I can have it be a cold iron weapon, also kensai gives me 1 free martial/exotic weapon prof. and free weapon focus with the selected weapon.
Armored Kit is +1 AC to anything you are wearing (If I read it correctly)

Oh, so you are also archetyping into black blade... I was wondering.
Also, yes you can add the armored kilt to your clothing (technically it says it can be added to armor, but I digress), but it still counts as light armor for the purposes of proficiency and other armor related rules, so you are still not proficient in it.

Okay, these are the battle maps I'm using in my games currently:
Rise of the RunelordsJade Regent
It's fairly easy to set up, and once you have it set up, you can reuse the same drawing for different encounters. The most difficult part is getting the tokens on the board, and keeping them differentiated (especially mooks.) I can produce a video on how to set this up if you wish. (It'll be tomorrow before I can get it up though.)

Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro |

fixed!
... Sorry not quite... I/You... We keep missing stuff..... :(
It lists under your attacks a katana and a crossbow (Though I don't know if you want the crossbow, you didn't list either as equipment), you have your normal AC and your Touch AC at 17 when it should be at 15 (+4 from Dex and +1 from Uncanny Defense because even though you have an Int bonus of +3 it is limited by your level, which of this moment is level 1) and you still have your flatfooted AC at 11 when it should be 10.
I think that would be everything... Sorry I wasn't attentive enough.
Edit:

Thank you for showing me, but I think I'll stick with Roll 20 (sorry, but I fiddled with the map for a sec and put everything back with the undo button).
Roll 20 differentiates tokens and background so that they don't interact (and only the DM can fiddle with the background), it easily applies permissions to characters so that they can only move their own token (and conditions can be applied to them as well), Tokens are locked to the grid so they are orderly and precisely where they are put in combat, it applies an easy to use fog of war system (and supposedly can apply dynamic lighting for easy character map discovery, but I haven't figured that out) and it can easily store pictures (for maps and tokens) to be used for the campaign.
I'm sure that its easy to use and am very thankful for your suggestion and post, but it doesn't quite do it for me.... I'm sorry for making you go through the trouble.

Are you still taking submissions? If so, I might have a 'wildcard' 5th you might not have thought about.
Before I do a full on submission, would you be willing to allow an unfettered Eidelon?
Shi here was made for a game that died, and I had a blast playing him. Before you worry about 'monsters as PCs', he's not built as an unfettered eidelon (from the bestiary). He's built as half a class. That is, he's built as a summoner without the spellcasting mortal.
So, he levels up as an Eidelon from the Summoner class, but without the spellcasting alter ego. This means he's far from overpowered (the usual first chorus I hear.). :)
Originally, he was built with the GM of that game with the idea that at the levels he doesn't get hit dice (4th, 8th, etc) he'd get a class level instead to keep him up with everyone else as far as hit die and skill ranks, but still get his evolution points for that level.
Anyway, if he's allowable, I'll rebuild him per the character build requirements. His backstory is in his profile, and I'd keep it similar. TL/DR version is he was a Paladin/Summoner's Eidelon, one who had rather a good reptuation with his church. Said Paladin fell and became an Ant-Paladin. The former Paladin is afraid to kill him lest she permanently loose her summoner powers, so she tried to turn him evil after their link was rent asunder. But he escaped and now he works for his church as scout priest (without the spellcasty bits).

I think I heard about you... Its a very interesting concept, but I think I can't allow it.
Part of the summoner classe's weaknesses... was that he was weak and his eidolon was strong. Part of the reason why a summoner is allowed even though he summons a very powerful creature was that if the enemy figured it out, he was most likely the main target of abuse for the main reason that if he went down, his pet monster went down to (a part of the concept that was effectively overcome and made very, very powerful by the synthesist). It also gets rid of half the class that has some utility and diversity.
I do like the creativity in such a thing though and hope that you will find a group that will take you.... I'm also just too new a DM to take on such a thing... You understand right? :(

Sure, no problem. But remember, that 'squishy' summoner is also casting spells and using wands and etc. :) A 6 level spell caster is a pretty powerful one, especially an arcane guy in armor. :)
Good luck with the game! No hard feelings.
Sorry and thanks for understanding.
Good night everybody.

Grandma Mable |

Grandma Mable looks surprised anyone would be interested in her.
"Oh my you want to learn about dear old granny. There really isn't much to tell.
Well lets see I was born... well I don't really know where I was born! I was found in the line for the bone mill. The bone mill is where all of the unwanted are destroyed and their bones are used for buildings and such. Anyways the high priest of Cayden decided I was worth saving and brought me to his temple.
Oh that was such a long time ago. I never understood what gave him the idea I was worth saving. My my he was such a sweet kind man.
At the temple I was assigned to a teacher to raise me. I never did please my teacher much. He would work and work on teaching me spell I could never learn and then without any effort I would cast something else. The man never bothered to give me a name because I flustered him so much, so I gave one to myself. I do rather like Mable don't you?
Because of my poor leg I was not very popular in Irrison I thought living here would be much better for my heath you see. Now I am sure being useful as I am now I would not be in danger of the bone mill but I see no reason to take any chances do you dear?
Well that is my life not much to tell, I bet you have a much for interesting story than old grandma here. Please tell me about yourself!" she replies looking at Sevante with expectation. She picks up one of the cookies and begins to nibble at the edges.
"I do wish I had remembered to bring some milk!"

Alright! Last Day for submissions. Tomorrow will conclude our time together on the recruitment thread and start the time we spend together in Reign of Winter.
For those who have already submitted, you are making it very hard for me to choose, but this isn't a bad thing. Its hard because there are so many great submissions and because I feel like I have gotten to know some of you through your many posts. To those selections I will make tomorrow, I hope that I will be the DM that gets you through this AP and the DM that helps you guys make a fantastic story come to life. To those that aren't selected, I can say that I am sorry to not be able to have you and to not be able to personally share an adventure together, but I believe that you will be able to find a group that is able and willing to take you on and your creative ideas and characters. I also hope that you will share in the adventure indirectly, by viewing our many posts to come in both the campaign and in the discussion thread.
Have a nice day and good luck! ^_^

Happy to put forward Montain Viszla, a Stygian Slayer Werebat. Woodman, guide, bounty hunter thief. Not a race or build you find often. Am an experienced and dedicated player. Have plenty of time and enthusiasm to post often. Make the effort to put heart and flavor into my RP. Hope he is a good fit for your campaign.

Those selected are:
Raseri Whitescale
Grandma Mable
Varian Seldlon

I am very sorry to those who weren't selected and I would take you on if I could. I know you guys will find another group though, and that you will have just as much fun as you would have had in mine.
@ Those Selected: The Campaign thread will be up in a little bit, but I have a few RL things to do before I get on that, so please be patient and welcome to my Reign of Winter Campaign.
