A dark furred worgen in a polished breastplate and a holy symbol on his neck leans in from the shadows around the camp fire.
Hello Greith. You can call me Drax. May Auronis favor your blade.

The Lycanthrop template. When in hybrid form (the stats shown) or animal form you take the higher of the base humanoid or the base animal. Plus they get plus 2 to wis, con, and str (in hybrid or animal form. My Orc-Dwarf stats are a normal 20 point buy.
You can see both the base points, orc-dwarf, hybrid, and bear details here: Drax. You will need to look up the black bear base stats here: Black Bear.
Vrog (i think correctly) upped the CR impact from +1 to +2. I am not sure how all the various benefits are justified by only +1 by Paizo.
I found the template while looking at how to justify using a feral Psionic warrior on this side of the campaign when I notice Kathandrax was worgan. With the bonus to wisdom being in all forms, Lycans make a nice and surprising choice for a cleric. Especially with the campaign tie in where a Worgan leads the church.

It seems we may be assigned to the same post. I suppose it is never too early to discuss tactics.
Drax glaces from Greith to Ragar and Grins. It is slightly disturbing on a worgan's face and could be mistaken for a snarl if it weren't for his tone.
I haven't seem too much fighting myself. Even so I tend to charge in and focus on up close melee. I usually focus on the least armored target's first unless I happen to see someone wielding a silver weapon. I keep my spells in reserve for when there is a critical need to healing for for used between conflicts. Of course mostly I have been on my own. If either of you have some experince fighting in a group I am all ears.

Heh, save the in character comments for the gameplay thread. I like the idea though.
Ragar is as hard to kill as stone and hits like a truck, and his companion averages about 50 damage in a full attack. Any spells he'll prepare will be for defense and healing, although entangle is always nice for large crowds.

Greith weaves in and out of the battle and tends to blend it up. May not be as sure of a hit, but when he does eventually will be getting some great damage. Also, (though not for a while) I'll be focusing on the critical strike feat tree. So on criticals I'll be stunning or staggering, etc.

Works for me. I was just itching to get some sort of conversation started. Drax has pretty substantial defenses (high AC and good saves and damage reduction) but a low Hit point pool due to his lower level. This obviously means he is in trouble facing a pack of Psions. We will see how it goes :) The full attack with a suite of natural weapons is indeed fun.
It seems like getting your pet in the game is going to be a high priority. I will hit you with my initiative boosts to see if that helps.

I kind of know how you feel, Drax. I may have all 4 hit die, but multiclassing always hurts a little. Just felt that we needed someone with some Rogue-ish skills and always a fan of finesse fighters.

Ragar. How did you end up with an animal companion as a Hunter? The only reference I found for hunter had no spells and no pet.
Link: Hunter
Similar kind of question for a Large companion. The only companions that are large before 7th level that I could find are the horse and camel.

Well your link is incorrect, but anyways you won't find the class on any SRD. It's one of the ACG playtest classes which you can download for free here.

Ape animal companion. 4th level advancement makes him large.

Ugg. That is what I get for posting by phone. I totally missed the ape size up at 4th. All in all an impressive build.

I am looking forward to reading up when I get home. I missed that animal companions don't have secondary attacks like most natural attackers do which is also very cool. Ah then endless depth of rule books. :) I had shied away from pet classes before but I clearly am missing out.

Sorry I got caught up in researching a new (to me class). I read up on the critical tree of feats. That looks very cool. Plus with stun it will be a nice blend with the sneak attack. Drax doesn't have much battle field mobility but between me and Ragar's Ape there should be lots of options for you to flank against.

for those of you who have been accepted, each of you is placed into the large lines of people who have arrived to join. A veritable tent city has sprung up outside Caravan, and thousands of applicants are being processed into what has been dubbed "the army of the faithful." As you are being processed, you will each be pulled aside and sent to speak with someone named Greel Dub-Bane, who turns out to be a goblin wearing the rank marks of a Captain. "I've looked at your information and have decided that you might make the cut to be one of my dirty squad, who will do missions that require....finesse and discretion. We'll see if you have what it takes soon enough."

one quick note about worgens: even though mechanically they have to have a base race, fluff-wise they are just werecritters, broken down by type of lycanthrope (i.e. werebears, weretigers, and so on). true masters of the worgen race can change their non-worgen appearance to mimic any of the common races.
I had thought that I mentioned that earlier, but looking at what I've posted so far I realize that I hadn't.
thought it might be important, given that we have a worgen in the group =)
