Gidgey grew up in a small cave with his parents, siblings and other close family. He had many brothers and sisters all around the same age as him. He was noticeably weaker and smaller than the rest of his siblings and would get picked on frequently. Often he would try to hide in many crevasses in his home, to prevent his siblings from using him as a plaything. This would usually work the first few times, but it would take him a few weeks to realize he was hiding in the same spot which his brothers have definitely learned by now. As a result he would have many bruises and even a few scars (most unnoticeable, but on his right ear a big chunk of the tip is missing).
One day when his siblings wanted to play catch with him, he went off to one of the crevasses in the cave to hide. He realized after the fact that he had dropped a very pretty stone that he had found earlier that day. He couldn't go out and grab due to risking his siblings finding him, but he couldn't chance them finding it either. He tried pulling at the air in front of him in a desperate attempt to move the stone, and suddenly it jumped at him hitting him in the eye. He screeched out in pain before he could realize what happened, and ten seconds later his brothers were tossing him around through the air. That night while rubbing his bruises he started trying to move that stone in his hand again, and to his surprise it worked.
Over the next few years Gidgey practiced this skill with his stone where no one could see him. This magic stone entranced him. Eventually he found out that this stone had given him power, and he could start moving other small objects without touching them. He started testing this out on his siblings when he was hiding from them, placing a stone or rat bone in their path.
The elder of Gidgey's family taught many things to the goblin children that were smart enough to learn, Gidgey being one of them. They were taught the ways of fire, how to appease bigger creatures through words, to speak common and other challenging things. The other siblings who did not learn were jealous of the special treatment the elder gave, distancing Gidgy even further.
"Gidgey come here!" One of his bigger brothers yelled. Gidgey started to run, not wanting to get pummelled again. This one was particularly stupid, and usually got everyone to go after Gidgey.
"Come back here!" His brother yelled and chased after him. Gidgey couldn't get away this time and his brother grabbed him by his shirt.
"Back off!" Gidgey screamed as he started flailing his arms at his brother, his eyes closed. Sfter a second he felt the grip loosen. He turned back and saw his brother completely frozen. Six of his siblings saw what happened... and the elder. His siblings started backing away.
"OUT!" Elder shouted waving his walking stick at Gidgey.
"Bu..." Gidgey stammered
"OUT! Never come back!" Elder shouted, his siblings started throwing rocks at him. His elder started whacking him with his cane. Gidgey started running, as fast as he could. He didn't look back, not once. By night he was far away and with his bad sense of direction, he would never figure out how to return.
He spent the next few weeks camping out in the wild. Freezing small animals for practice and as his only source of food. He remembered what plants were okay to eat because of what he was taught. He would stare at the stars at night, it made him feel closer to the powers the stone had given him. He loved using the powers to destroy things, made him feel like he wasn't so weak. He never felt homesick, no one was harassing him anymore.
Gidgey arrived at city, and was very overwhelmed. Many creatures, all of them so new, mostly because they weren't his Goblin family. He found it very easy to hide in the city, he was much smaller than most beings. Gidgey stole many things that he thought looked interesting, using his small size to get away when noticed or blaming some other small creature. If he ever got in too much trouble he would just shoot some frost at them or go invisible and run away in the confusion. He sold most of the loot so that he could eat, but he kept some.
He started hearing about some outsiders disgracing Auronis. A war would be coming soon, a perfect place to test out the limit of his powers.
