Kildel: You are sure you already know everything there is to know about farming.
Dskani: The books with the same bindings are full of first person narratives about agriculture. The authors recount their experiences ,trials and errors in using magic or science to enhance crops. Here is one such account:
I went back to the drawing board. Really thought that extract #112 was gonna be the one. Turns out all the growth we observed was actually the crops merely inflating with methane gas. Nasty shock when we first cut into one of my new giant pumpkins. the fields smelled like the business end of a cow and I was back to square one. I hoped if i could combine extract #88 with extract #103 in the right dosage that I would get the larger more nutritious crops without them beings as 'on fire' as extract #88 proved the first go round...
There are several other similar stories in the pages of the identically bound volumes. You notice that the bindings don't list a title or cover art or even volume numbers. The only indicator on the plain leather book cover is a small symbol on the spine.
Isidora K:Nature 28: Three of the planters hold decayed remains of carrots, cabbage, and corn. The dead plant that stretches nearly to the floor you identify as the same long thick grass that covers the fields outside. There is word written on the planter in draconic that translates to 'invasive'
Beetles, centipedes, worms, and all manner of harmless creepy crawlies skitter around your feet, on the books, around the strange vials and bottles of potions.

Are the books also in Draconic?
The stories in the volumes are actually in a variety of languages. Common is the most common, but you see some are in Dwarvish, Elvish, Gnomish, Druidic, Terran, and a few in Draconic.

Isidora Volus |

"It looks like whoever this lab belonged to was studying the tall grass growing outside. They've labeled it as an invasive species. I wonder, perhaps this plane was quite different in the past, maybe a much friendlier place..." Isidora trails off, not sure if anyone else is interested in her musings.

"I've been a farmer for a long time, never needed any of this mess. Maybe if we burn that plant outside down, we might be able to see where we are going better, though.
Kildel sighs and thrusts his hands into the pockets of his new cloak.

Dskani Ilyana |

"While that could be helpful, it also might be dangerous. According to these journals, whoever was here was trying to increase the growth of plants. However, some of them were merely inflated with flammable gas." Skimming over a few more books, Dskani adds "It seems like there may even have been multiple residents here. These logs are in several different languages." Is it the same handwriting?

Isidora Volus |

Isidora's interest is peaked by the mention of the logs being written in several different languages and she makes her way over to where Dskani is pondering over the handwriting.

Kildel looked about, just watching as one of the potions lit up. None of this made any sense to him, all this research and science and magic nonsense. It was like another language all of its own and it made his brain hurt.

You can't identify what it is.
As you pick up the vial, the beetle that was meandering around on it is startled and attempts to fly off. The beetle flutters for a moment before accidentally plummeting in an open beaker of bluish fluid with a satisfying 'galoop!'
The open beaker cracks abruptly. The beetle has begun expanding, growing exponentially! The beaker he was in shatters as this once tiny little bug begins growing to monstrous proportions.
Now the size of a housecat it's weight causes the aged table to creak.
Now the size of a large dog, the table colapses sending glass and plant matter across the floor.
Now the size of a horse it is clear to the beetle that he is in some serious trouble. Whats worse: he doesn't seem to be taking it very well.
