Darkness....darkness is what you awake too. Darkness and a throbbing headache. You can hear breathing around, some heavy, others light almost musical. Where are you? You remember... you remember the moneylender arriving. You were at home with your family before dinner. Or maybe you were at the local pub drowning your sorrows over a pint. Were you in your failing fields?

Why did you take the money? You were desperate sure, but that moneylender smelt of brimstone and his eyes didnt seem trustworthy. Desperate times lead to desperate measures.

That matters little now, where you were and why you made the deal dont seem to matter much as you sit up in the darkness confused about the aches your body is protesting as you sit up from the hard stone floor. In the distance across from where you are now a set of green gold eyes suddenly opened pratically aglow in the dark. Heavy sniffing barely heard over the snoring mass echoed ominous in your ears.

"New blood yes yes? No worries new friend in the morning I will get you set up here bad luck to be here though yes yes. Rest up the morning will come soon enough."

The dark voice rumbled over the cacophony of snores.

Welcome to the Blood dome, an arena of violence and intrigue. Whether you are here for criminal trespass, are an indentured slave via bad debt, or willingly came to the dome for a chance at fame and fortune doesnt matter...what matters is getting through the day.

This will not be a straight combat adventure, though it will have plenty of gladitorial style fighting ...until you get your freedom, by hook or crook.

Charector creation -

Level 1 charectors -

HP:: is max at level 1, as you level its 1/2+1+con bonus or your roll whichever is higher. 2 trait unless you choose to take a drawback, then you may take 1 more.
CLasses:: Core,Base,Hybrid
Races allowed - Core and Featured races preferred if you have something more exotic ask away I wont promise a yes answer but I will think about it. :)
Stats - Stats will done this way.
Chose two main stats, two normal stats, and two sub stats.
Main and normal stats start at 10, sub stats start at 14
For your main stats roll and add 2d4.
For your Normal stats +1d6.
for your Sub stats - Subtract 1d6.
So in example Our Heroine Dharkhantia chooses as her main stats DEX and STR Her Normal stats as CON and WIS, and her Sub stats as INT and CHR
so
Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 1) = 14
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Int: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
Wis: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
Chr: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (2) = 12

Then add your racials. If for whatever reason you absolutely hate your rolls you may try a second time and keep the one you like.

Wealth - You start with nothing but the clothes on your back.
Everyone roll a 1d100 at creation, depending on your roll depends if the guards at that brought you in missed something.

Posting Rate - I would like to shoot for at least once a day, but sometimes life happens.

Dex stat: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 4) = 15
Cha stat: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Str stat: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Int stat: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
Con stat: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13
Wis Stat: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (6) = 8

Goodie Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 82

Hmm, well Definitely not a caster.

I was trying for maybe a Rogue or Ranger build (Though you can still do a Ranger with this mix) but I'm thinking more towards Slayer or Barbarian.

Barbarian to be named Crunch:

Unnamed Hero
Half-orc barbarian (armored hulk) 1 (Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Combat 28)

I always forget this part,

Recruitment will run for a couple of weeks at least. looking for a party of 4 to six.

Okay, this is interesting.

Main stats:
Cha: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 3) + 10 = 15
Wis: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
Normal Stats:
Int: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Con: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Sub Stats:
Str: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13
Dex: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13

Above average, but nothing stellar. I think I will make an Oracle.

Are we going to be on a team, I take it?

Main stats:

Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 2) = 16
Cha: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15

Norm stats:
con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
int: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (5) = 15

Sub stats:
wis: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (5) = 9
Dex: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10

debating paladin, magus or cavalier/samarai

There will be a mix of team events mostly. Depending on how roleplay things work out maybe a few indvidual combats, though i wont leave everyone out there will be things for the others to do if something like that happens.

Dont forget if you are not thrilled with a set of stats you can take a reroll on them and choose between the two. So in your case Vrog you could reroll those charisma and wisdom stats and see if you can't bump your main stats up a bit if you wish :)

Dex: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (4, 3) + 10 = 17
Cha: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (3, 2) + 10 = 15
Int: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Str: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Hmm, better? Well now I'm not sure how to really set this character up?

If I'm only allowed to reroll one it'd be the main stats.

~scratches chin~ Maybe a two weapon fighting Barbarian. I don't think you see those very often if at all. With a 17 Dex...it's very doable.

when in doubt I always say play the charector not the class :P

You get one reroll for any of the sub sets thats correct. You may roll for all three, main, normal, and sub... but you can only replace one.

Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Wis: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 1) = 12
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (1) = 11
Int: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
Dex: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (5) = 9
Cha: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13

Quite unremarkable. Reroling the 2d4 stats,
Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 1) = 14
Wis: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 2) = 15
Which isn't enough Str for my first idea. Rerolling the 1d6s,
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (1) = 11
Int: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
Won't be taking those. I'll see if I can comeup with a different idea which is happy with low Dex & Con, moderate everything else.

rerolling just subs

wis: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (5) = 9
dex: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10

avr wrote:

man that was some unluck there it seems

Stat 1: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 3) + 10 = 15
Stat 2: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16

Use those if you would like AVR

15 Str is enough for some prereqs and when it goes to 16 at level 4 that's enough to be happy with. 16+2 race=18 Wis is probably overkill, but at least will saves won't be an issue. I'll be a dwarven brawler at 1st level, multiclassing to dwarven scholar bard ASAP. Str 15, Dex 9, Con 13, Int 13, Wis 18, Cha 11. More details to follow.

& thanks.

Hmm

10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 4) = 15 dex
10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 1) = 14 int

Thinking wizard perhaps, or magus.

lucky?: 1d100 ⇒ 92

Im a fan of detailed backstories... it provides more hooks for later. All I need to know though is how you wound up as a gladiator in the arena.

Hey-o Gilthanis how are you doing. Be fair warned magic users have a slight disadvantage in the fact your access to newer magics might be limited unless you impress and get a patron.

Sorceror is probably the better arcane casting option.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ilvaria has been sold to the gladiator pits as the results of a failed coup for the position of Matron between herself and three of her sisters. Her intended role was clearly scapegoat, and she served that role well.

Her mother, in a fit of "Kindness", sold her to a visiting dignitary to her house, and Ilvaria was soon a gladiator.

I'll be leaving the recruiting open for at least another week So any other folks interested be sure to drop a line... I like what I see for Ilvaria Vrog, you are certainly in, :)

Does she have any long term plans or more just live til the next day sort of thing?

Vitaliano da Riva, just give me a quick and dirty background and you are good to go as well

Backstory:

It ain't easy being green. Orc children have it bad, especially those born in orc tribes. Being a half breed made it that much harder to survive but numbers and strength is what most orcs look for in their children and Bjorn had it. His name wasn't originally Bjorn but he was given it by the slavers who captured him during an assault on his tribe after a semi successful raid on a human village.

The slavers were smart, taking the orcs by surprise once they felt they had had the raid under control, and slaughtered or contained those that were even remotely weakened or "fresh". Afterwards, once those that could ran, they took whatever humans survived that they could reasonably sell. The group that caught Bjorn were a particularly nasty bunch and pitted their prey against each other to figure out how much they were worth and how best to sell them.

Bjorn proved himself in two different fights staged by the slavers, kill both an unarmed man and an armed slave with just his teeth. Surrounding him after the fights, they beat him unconscious and sent him off to the gladiator pits to be used for entertainment. This is where Bjorn woke up naked and confused as to what would happen to him. The only thing he knew, was he was expected to fight if he wished to live and he planned to live and live free or die trying.

Apologies I didn't get around to this sooner. Things got away from me a little for the purposes of finishing up a character. The game I GM has had some loss of characters and a smidgen of drama so I had to focus for a little while.

good deal. I'll go ahead and make an alt for her then.

Well, Paladins are cool, They dont feel all that gladatorial though, but if you can make the backstory fit great!

I do love me some cavalier's/samurai.. in fact you may run across a high level samurai very soon into the adventure... not in any sort of adversarial sort of way or anything though no worries, not getting this all started up to kill you right off the bat :)

Here is my alt for Ilvaria.

I've got the perfect alias for this. Basically, 300-style phalanx fighter.

Fallen_Mage here with Jason Argus.

how do you feel about an antipaladin and suli

Suli's are fine. Antipaladins are kinda meh. Im not saying you cant make an anti paladin, just that 90% (minimum) of anti paladins ive ran across have been jerk players. Your cool though right? So no worries

@ DM - Do I need anything else for my character? I feel I missed something.

ok i will have him done soon deciding on race right now

luck: 1d100 ⇒ 40

I forgot to roll that

Dotting for interest - was in a prisoners-of-drow-in-gladiatorial-pits game here on the boards that went south pretty quick. Was awesome while it lasted.

DM - is a Summoner too much of a headache? I'm not familiar with the Unchained version and would rather avoid it. Or a Hunter? I'm guessing the Hunter would be without their animal companion for a great while....

Are Occult classes in as well? Never played one but am interested in Psychics and Kineticists.

Dark Archive

Roland awake his vision blurry, after a few minutes his vision cleared and he looked around. Roland saw where he was and smiled The blood dome, a place of absolute violence and carnage. He stood up and looked at the other "prisoners" he walked around examining the room and loosening his muscles. He laughed to himself they did not know who they brought here. He remember growing up in the inner sea region, the fighting the scraping. He was the freak the kid that was different. Then he found his god and now he serves him faithfully.

I introduce you to Roland

To be honest ive not had a lot of experiance with many of the occult classes. And Summoner is fine if you want, will just have to really figure out how you are there with your Eidolon, You wont be popular amongst some of the other gladiator's with that much magically unfairness about :P but hey thats part of the fun right?

It sure is. I'll get to making a character.

Dunno which would be more interesting. I'm oogling the Maw or Claws alternate racial traits, and playing a baby beast shape build.

The hunters that brought Ysder in thought they were tracking a snow lion. When they peeled away the hides and found the ashy tiefling underneath, their only concern was whether they could demand a higher price with or without the hides.

Ysder ate six fingers before they muzzled her. The muzzle also helped with her incessant talking. She's been a hit so far in the pits.

Could I take the Oni-Spawn Tiefling variant, or is that outside of core races? Would seriously help my lone wolf build.

Took some advice on my build and decided I'll start with a level in Barbarian Pugilist before taking levels in Druid.

BastianQuinn wrote:

While I have absolutely no final say in the matter, the character creation criteria did state Core and Featured Races. Last I checked, Tiefling was a Featured Race. So that shouldn't be an issue.

Again, completely not my call, just making a logical observation.

I'd like to jump in on this! (I've been, tragically, away from the PbP scene for quite a while but I should remember the basics).

What's the setting? Golarion, unspecified or homebrew?

I'm thinking of playing a human sorcerer who landed in the Dome due to challenging a more skilled mage, and was sold here to make a point; he'd quite like to live and get the f##+ out of here, but Narrative suggests that he thrive and go back to kick that other mage's ass.

Should I stat him up or wait 'til Monday night to go ahead with that?
