He also checks to see other experienced and strong Gymnaga warriors or spellcasters that are close by.

Initiative order:

Camp – 17
Mina – 16

Round 6…

Calex rushes to join Riku just as he sees the injured Tafganor hit by another crossbow bolt fired by Riku. The Bolt strikes high on the Tafganor’s chest, and the villain falls backward.

Meanwhile, Poseus forces the Sashi-Anhain, at Spear point to help free the rest of his friends and family. Tanisinda rushes off to the south, and disappears into a small tent, while Leto, pulling four other Gymnaga-folk along with him, heads for the north tent.

Just as he arrives at the open flap of the tent, two more Sashi-Anhain appear, coming out of the tent toward him and are surprised.

Leto can make one attack, using the stake as a club if he chooses, before the Sashi-Anhain will be added to the Initiative order. They are armed with short swords, but wear no armor.

Poseus:
No, the Sashi pointed north, and you can see this stranger, Leto, who recently returned to your village, headed there with four of the village chained to him.

Poseus looks around, slowly getting closer to his friends and family, he is suddenly overwhelmed with hugs, as young and old alike rush to thank him.

Rosilindeae plants a kiss fully on Poseus’ lips, smiling as best she can, her face stained with tears, she says
Let Leto fetch the key, everyone else, head to the south we’ve got to get out of here before the rest of them return.

Just then, Poseus sees D’ieredon running back toward him, the bodies of the Tafganor can be seen on the ground in the distance, and D’ieredon is holding his right arm in a tight grip. His shirt is soaked with blood – and then looking to see if Leto has recovered the keys, Poseus sees that two more Sashi were in the tent to the north and are now attacking Leto

Day 10 late afternoon At the Rising Sun Inn, in the East Quarter, Castletown

Patricia welcomes Marwan to her table, and then answers Arvid
No, I was promised a group of trained soldiers from the castle, lead by a man I haven’t met, but he should be here tonight I understand. His name is Hector Pavicar, and I was told he is from Harrispania, which could be a good thing for us. I heard a rumor that Harrispania supplied most of the soldiers who fought in the failed Baravkovian Succession, and so he could be combat trained, which is more than I expected.

She turns to Marwan, and says

I’m afraid I’ve never been away from Urandoma, or Orimar, as you Alodoans call it, so I don’t much about the geography over there. Is Vurespania north or south of Harrispania? Is it anywhere near the mountains of Baravkovia? I only heard the fighting between Alodoa and Baravkovia was intense, but short, mostly along some river that flows out of the Mountains in Baravkovia.

Day 11 Afternoon Location – Woodbridge

Things are busy in woodbridge this day, construction continuses on a hastily built palisade wall around Riverside, and tents are being erected in the place where the stage still stands from the festival just a week ago.

Marcus can see the small ring where he boxed with Poseus, and tries to recall that time with a glad heart, but now, so many troubles weigh him down.

Little by little more and more of the population of Lakeside are coming across the bridge, bulling wagons, and shepherding animals onto the island.

Kaspeae finds Marcus near the stage, where the Maetaur and scouts of the groundskeepers are organizing what few weapons they have in the village and laying them out on the bridge to be counted and assigned to those who know how to use them

Marcus is in control of nine short bows, three long bows, four small crossbows, six spears, twelve long handled axes, five short swords, and twenty small axes and long hunting knives. There are only seventy arrows in the village, and only 25 cross bow bolts. The village has three suits of leather armor, one of the Elven families of Lakeside has a chain mail shirt, and a Long bow with 10 arrows.

Marcus, I was just at the bread and board, and Oscar and Lulu can take in two families. The Goodwells say that they can take in four. My parents have agreed to stay with the O’lehig family, and my mother is going to try some old elven remedies for L’sbirr, who seems to be improving, but, I didn’t want to tell you this, but Old Connor O’Lehig is acting very strange, and he should be seen by Auria as soon as possible. I haven’t seen Auria in while.

Marcus looks at the various weapons laid out before him. he smiles, but the smile is present only to hide the worry he has on hid mind.

These are a start, but there won't be enough for every villager, and Maetur and other individual coming onto the island. I need to put these in the most capable hands, otherwise...

He is brought out of his thoughts, as Kaspeae starts talking to him. he listens as she talks about people helping out by allowing others to stay with them.

With Oscar, Lulu, and the other families taking in others, how many does that leave us to care for and provide shelter for? Will the makeshift tents be enough, I can use my father's shop if needed to support a family. I am sure my parents can take in a family or two in these days of dire straights.[b]

Marcus dwells on where Auria could possibly be, he knows she has been busy tending to the wounds of the Aladoan soldiers as well as those in the community.

[b]She needs to be found, especially since she will be needed to help tend the wounds when all hell breaks loose. Can you tell me where she was seen last?

After getting Auria's last known location, Marcus grabs a few able bodied people, he doesn't care if they are Gymnaga or Maetur. He heads with them to do his best to try and find Auria.

Vurrespania is just northeast of Barovkovia. Much of the fighting that was not done along that river you speak of was upon the plains of my homeland. The fires are out now, but the fields burned for months. Once a grass fire starts, it is incredibly difficult to stop, you see, and almost everyone fled to the central cities. But none of this will help us build these fences as it were, do you know when these soldiers are to become available? I doubt we have much time to spare.

Day 10 Location, the Rising Sun, East Quarter, Castletown

Patricia gives Marwan her full attention, taking note of the description of the war in his homeland, and trying to gauge his inner feelings about the matter

When she is certain he is done talking about it, she leans back, and folds her arms.

I really don’t know, but I hope their captain comes by soon. I’d like to get to bed, and get an early start in the morning. There isn’t really any road to Woodbridge, though there is a regular trail along the Lorisane river, but following it all the way to Woodbridge can take longer, as much as two full days longer, than if you cut through the fens. You can get lost in there, if you don’t know the markers and landmarks, so I imagine the soldiers will either have to be ready to go when we leave in the morning, and follow us, as I intend to take the shortest route, or if they aren’t ready they will have to follow the river, so I wouldn’t expect them to be in Woodbridge until a day or two, hell maybe three, depending on their motivation or lack thereof, after we get there.

She looks across the table at the others.

Then back to Marwan, and says

Look, I don’t want any of you to get the idea I’m hiding anything, or that there is more in the way of a reward for helping us than I lead on. We are a small village. We need all the help we can get. The attack on our neighbors has been swift and deadly, and I’m not even certain how large of a force they have, it could be more than we can handle, so if you have any doubts, don’t go, and if you are still sure this is what you want to do, I’ll be here, in this room before sunrise. We leave at first light.

Ulan Goodwell, a man in his forties, is in the fenced meadow to the north of the house. Ulan is working to build a section of fence within the meadow (which is already fenced in) with two young boys, Tram Mitterson and Torrey Onahugh, while Elizabeth keeps the sheep gathered in one corner of the meadow. Castletown, The Rising Sun

Day 10, late

Hector Pavicar arrives late at the Rising Sun. he scans the room, and sees Patricia, and having been given her description he smiles at her and approaches.

The captain of the Alodoan detachment is young, with fair skin and dark, wavy hair. He is tall, and slender, but not frail. His nose looks large for his face, but his smile is charming, and his mannerisms are friendly and approachable.

He and Patricia exchange introductions. Patricia explains the situation as best she can while keeping the discussion brief. When the captain has heard all she has to say, he tells her that he cannot possibly be ready to leave as early as she would like, but that he has hired a guide, a scout of the Groundsmen, who knows the river well, and will lead them to Woodbridge. He promises to march hard, and try to reach the village no later than sunset on the day after tomorrow.

Hector shakes Patricia’s hand, and then departs. When Patricia is sure she has taken care of all she needs to, she goes to Hillary, and asks the innkeeper to wake her, and all her associates, at sunrise. She then heads off to a private room.

Round 6, wrap up

Seeing the enemy break free of the entangling vegetation, Mina raises her hands and speaks a few words that softly carry across the breeze and bring more of the ground around their feet to life, only this time, the plants are imbued with a foul magic that seeks to seep into the skin of those that are trapped

The Yellow Tafganor, Blind, staggers into the lake, he is startled and panicked by his new situation. The Red and Green Tafganor head east, and are out of both spell areas. The Red Sashi-Anhain is still in the area of the Entangle, but not the Sickening Entangle. The Orange Tafganoor and the Orange Sashi-Anhain go west, are free momentarily, then are within the area of the new spell – I’m sorry I haven’t updated the map yet, but I think in all fairness, there is probably no way for Mina to successfully trapped all of them in the area of the new spell, as no matter where she places it, some of the trapped enemy will be trying to escape the first spell by going in the opposite direction

A Tafganor and Sashi Anhain are both pulled down at the knees by the increased growth around them, and the snake-man begins to cough and shake.

Meanwhile, in the tent to the north…

Leto strikes out at the other Sashi, and he feels bones break as the heavy wooden spike hits. The Sashi Anhain drops his weapon, and clutches at his chest as he collapses backward.

A large iron ring dangles a few feet in front of Leto’s face, hanging on a nail on the center pole of the tent. The ring holds one long iron key.

Calex, Riku, and Mina, now begin to see Gymnaga-folk coming out of the eastern opening of the camp rushing as fast as they can, their bodies lowered to just inches above the ground, directly toward the lake.

Yeah, it wasn't intended to capture all of them. It was intended to ensure that their approach wsa very hindered. Like I said, it's just a little closer than the other to give us plenty of space to decide to stick around or flee. :)

Leto gives the hefty wooden stake he had used to beat two snake men unconscious an appraising eye. The lizard man then shrugging and hucking the weighty blood stained object to the side when he exits the tent.
"There is a pair of short swords inside the tent if anyone needs a weapon, just mind the mess. Ah, I see there is a bit of one out here as well. .. I don't actually know your name..? Sorry its been some time since I was last home. Anyway, did you know you are positively dripping in- Ah the little lady found my pack. Well done, now lets see if this key actually works."
The Gymnaga rambles are he uses the key to attempt to open each of the locks tying the rest of the captives to him and release the belt around his waist as well.
"Now if all my supplies are in here I can be ready to fight momentarily." The Gymnaga says with a predatory grin
"I must admit I have quite the desire to exercise my frustration on these fools. I don't suppose there are more coming? Also your elf friend might want to cover the rest of our escape, that wound looks nasty."

I'm thinking Leto would be very interested in the option of beating these raiders into the ground.

Once freed, the other Gymnagga take the key from Leto, and giving help to D'ieredon, they hurriedly rush off to join up with Rosilindeae and the others of their families.

Only Leto, Poseus, and Tanasinda remain in the center of the camp, and must decide to go south to assist the party there keeping the other enemies pinned down, or, flee to the east and follow Rosilindeae across the lake.

Looking south, though the opening (what we are calling the South gate) the three of you can see the ground entangling many, but not all of the enemy Sashi Anhain and Tafganor. reaching them will take one full round.

Going east, to the other gate and then to the lake, and then across to come up on the other side of the Entangling vegetation will take five rounds

Leto give Tanasinda a grin as he gratefully takes his pack. The lizardman clucking his tongue as he notes most of the weapons missing.
"Can't say I'm surprised, bah guess I'll go without. Now reason follows that you've done all you can to help young one. However if for some reason you have a desire to stay they seem to have left my sling alone. If you know how to use it its yours, just stay safe. I'm about to use some magic to prepare for battle, then i'll join the strapping gentleman with a spear and we can go inflict some well due justice."

If this is a raid I can't see these guys not looting and distributing the useful items in my pack. Weapons would be a pretty obvious thing to get taken, though they could also just be in a different part of the pack. I'm going to roll with stolen for now.

With a small chime of glass Leto reaches into his pouch and rapidly adds several roots and leaves to a concoction, the lizardman muttering under his breath as he adds more. The potion glows and Leto gives a soft smile. He downs the liquid and grimaces slightly as a rapid transformation occurs.
The Lizardman's flesh hardening into solid wooden plates, hair erupting into a mossy verdant mess and his lower body quickly gaining an articulated bark.
With a quick lash of his tail the now tree like lizardman begins to move toward the south.

"I'm Poseus, well met ehm....?"

"Leto, right? We haven't met, but I've heard tales from your kinsmen. You're like an herbalist right?"

Poseus takes a moment to look at his own skin and chuckles slightly.
"Yeah, guess that happens in battle. Luckily most of it isn't mine. I'm not sure how many we can take, but if they come in groups of two we ought to be able to take them down."

"Dieredon! Join the others and head east. Ask Rosilindeae to tend to your wounds, I'll need my mentor when I get through this."
Poseuscalls out to Dieredon, an obvious worried look on his face, but then it's replaced by a grim look of determination.

"It wasn't our plan, but let's get to it. Give our kinsmen more time to get away."

What the heck is going on with these Tafganor anyway?:
To clarify for Leto, this is not a "raiding party." These are the residual left behind troops of a larger army that has been sweeping across this part of Urandoma. You should be able, when things are a bit less hectic, to sit down with Mina, Calex, Poseus and Riku and learn what they know, but here is just a bit of that, as a sort of spoiler and clarification. First they were destroying Lyph villages (we used to have a Lyph Player Character who has disappeared from the game, Caorann) and then, more recently, they attacked MacNorra House, and carried away the whole village. Something that was learned was that the leader of this Tafganor army has some kind of plan, which requires a Gymnaga priestess, and a Maetaur Druid, to open a legendary sealed doorway in a cliff face to the south of this camp. Legends, according to the Maetaur, say that a great Tafganor King, his fortress and his army were sealed behind this cliff in an age long ago and it would seem that these Tafganor, who have been unseen in this part of the world for some time now, have a plan to open this wall, and reclaim the fortress and the power of their long dead king. The army has moved south, for what reason is not clear (but I think some PCs might be able to figure it out by now), and this camp was left with a small group of Tafganor and Sashi Anhain to guard the prisoners. Also, something might have been revealed about a deal between the Tafganor and the Sashi Anhain about what was going to happen to the Gymnaga folk once the Tafganor reclaimed their power in this land

Leto left years back after a particularly large fight with his Mother and his Dame. Effectively told them all to go stick it in their cloaca and fled into the forest. Normally such foolishness is temporary and the angry kid running into the forest comes back. Leto vanished, most in Woodbridge likely thought him dead of his bullheadedness.

Leto, now clad in bark with skin a dozen shades darker gives a smirk.
"Yes thats my name, well met Poseus, and I suppose you could call me an herbalist. Though my herbs are much more potent than someone typically in that profession. The term bottle witch has stuck to me before."
the lizardmans voice having dropped several octaves and obtained a gravelly tone nothing like his normal voice
"As to your plan I expect I wasn't in it, stay behind me and I'll take the brunt of any charges. This form allows me to heal quickly and grants me significant defenses. As to them attacking us, I have some experience in fighting a number of foes at once. Lets just agree to retreat back to the river if we take more than a few hits aye?"

Leto's boasts would likely be more credible if he had a weapon in hand at the moment. Beating someone with your tail isn't exactly a common occurrence as far as has been described in the fluff.

"Agreed. Though I'll be close to the fight as well. I've got skill with a spear at close range and in melee. We pick a few off, do we need Tanisinda in this fight? She looks quite..."

Poseus now fianlly takes a good look at her and turns beet-red.
"Let's call her unprotected. I at least have got some armour on. Tanisinda? Do you want to help us in this fight, it will get dangerous no doubt."

Round 7…

As Poseus and Leto talk about heading south to confront the remainder of the enemies, Tanasinda realizes she is still not wearing any cloths, and blushes all over.

I need to get my cloths. The young Gymnaga girl says with a snarl toward the captured Sashi-Anhain, while she holds one of the dropped swords she recovered in both her hands. Should I kill this bastard now?

Meanwhile…

Calex loads and fires his crossbow again, but he misses as the Taganor stumbled onto their knees as they escape the area of Mina’s spells
Poseus looks toward the south gate and follows Leto as he heads that direction but soon he comes to a stop, when he sees the area just south of the gate is chocked with writhing plants, and he smells a foul plant odor in the air.

Riku has a round 7 action here

The two Tafganor who escaped the spell get to their feet slowly and then drawing shaking their weapons free of bits of grass and flowers they look in Calex and Riku’s direction and start heading that way. As they move closer, Calex can see that they try to shield their eyes from the afternoon sun

Within the area of Mina’s tangling Spells, the enemies try to fight their way free

Strength Check, Red _SA: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Strength Check, Org _SA: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 - 2 = 19

One of the Snake men, on the east side of the spell staggers out of the area and doubles over vomiting onto the ground

But the other to remain trapped

In the lake, one of the Tafganor, realizing he is standing in the water, bends over and plashes his face to clear his eyes

Will Save, Yel_Orc: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

But all he does is manage to throw stinging lake nettles into his eyes from the writhing plants
Mina sees Poseus, and another young Gymnaga man coming out of the southern gate, while across the way to the east she sees the rest of the Gymnaga swimming fast toward the south shore of the lake

[ooc]Riku can take round 7 actions, then Mina, and Leto will get theirs, and then Calex and Poseus are up for round 8 – It looks like Let and Poseus are coming pout the souther gate, where a sickened Sashi-Anhain has broken free of Mina’s spell

odd. That's not 30 feet west. Or 5 feet south. :P Not that it matters, I suppose.

Mina watches as some of the gymnaga begin to make their way out... and looks to her allies on the other side of the river. "We should go soon." she announces.

So totally my mistake, I thought it was 20 foot to the east and then 5 foot to the south. I've changed the map, the two orks coming at Calex and Riku are entangled and Sickened, while a Sashi-Anhain on the other side is free, but sickened, and an Orc is free (both orange) - I very sorry for screwing this up, it was a good plan Mina -

"We know their people deserve punishment, but I'm not willing to commit murder to a prisoner unlike they did enslaving us." He says to Tanisinda.

He holds his spear out to the Sashi-Anhain with the point near his neck, then withdraws it.

"Leave now and run! If I ever catch you again near Gymnaga captives I'll have no such mercy."

Day 11, afternoon

The Sashi-Anhain nods his understanding, turns and flees through the eastern gate, but then turns north, away from the lake

Tanasinda hurries to the tent where she was being held, and in a few moments returns. She is not dressed, but she is carrying her clothing and her belts in one arm, the sword in her hand. She looks at Leto and Poseus and says,

Let’s get out of here. Is it safe to go out the south gate or not?
