Background/Appearance
Calex is a slim, 5'7" young man with fair hair & fair skin. His features and mannerisms, with a pronounced Alodoan accent show that he is not a native son to Woodbridge. Calex is a classicaly trained wizard, trained in the more civilized lands of the Empire, with skills designed towards the upkeep and maintenance of a wizard or alchemist's lab.
He has turned these skills towards earning a enough to prosper in the village, while still providing himself the time & space to keep on his own magical studies. He has grown to enjoy the village life around him and often uses his magic to aid his neighbours in small ways- simple mending and cleaning cantrips and the like have made him well-liked, while his variety of household products (from alchemical glue to glassware to ceramic pipe to Alchemical cement) has made him a central merchant.
Still, his first love is always for his magic and he knows the village limits his horizons. He is almost borderline obsessive about learning more. Although his shop and business do well, he is almost destitute due to paying outrageous amounts for any new books the merchants in Castletown bring in. His monthly visits there have almost become a religious pilgrimage. Calex has a rather strange nature- his
enthusiasm for any given endeavor can be manic, but he is often distracted easily by details.
Cal's background is something of a mystery- even to himself. He was found by some village woodsmen about 5 years ago badly hurt and burned(?!) along the riverbank. They had to pry him out of the mud, as if he had fallen from a great height. They took him back to Woodbridge, where Wiscara's mother was enlisted to treat his injuries. When he had recovered enough to be able to talk, it was discovered that he had lost almost all his knowledge of his identity. He knew his name, he remembered his skills and knoledge but had no memory of his family, or who had taught him magic.
His only vague clues are his bonded amulet (its an image of a long-toothed cat not native to the area) and an inscription in his spell book the says: "Here you go, Calex. Do better this time." signed "T".
