Okay, we are in a Chase. I find the Chase rules confusing, not least because they've tweaked them slightly every time they've published them. For the purposes of this chase, we will be using the rules as printed here.
Any other questions, just ask them.

Joana |

Yeah. The first time I encountered chase rules was the one time I ever played a PC in medium armor. It sucked. :P
On the plus side, three of you have 20 ft speed so, except for Alicia, you're all in the same boat. Also, you know, you're chasing school children, so they probably don't have stellar skill checks themselves. :)

Vhailor Falk |

I can go one better - namely here.
A halfling oracle with the lame curse - 15ft move speed with all his companions longshanks and lightly armored. Anytime a chase starts it's just a signal to put one's feet up and wave goodbye.

Javell DeLeon |

Alicia curses loudly at the runaway boys and chases after them. "Get back here, you stupid brats!" She gestures and attempts to grab the baker's attention as she moves, succeeding at stopping him in his tracks as he wonders what is going on and why the scowling blonde girl is waving at him.
Lol! Man, NOW Alicia is in her element. These kids just bringing out the cranky in her to the nth degree. :)

Lol! I can totally see this. The halfling sits down, kicks back, crosses his feet and simply waves with a smile on his face. That's just greatness. :)

Succeeding at both would allow you to move ahead 2 cards and attempt to cut him off.
Should have said 3 cards. I told you I get these rules mixed up. One of the iterations of Chase rules had 2 cards forward and you had to pass one check from one card and one check from the next, which made more sense. How does bypassing one obstacle twice move you past the next two obstacles as well?
Chase rules mess with my sense of verisimilitude. :P

Vhailor Falk |

Yeah the chase thing of attempting two checks on one card to move three doesn't make sense to me either. The modification that I came up with was that each card had two checks - one easy, and one hard.
The easy meant you moved forward one card - the hard meant you moved 'quick' and could attempt a check on the second card in the same round. Avoided the big leap-frog effects and made a bit more sense to me.

Marikel Selentin |

Clever modification Mark. I might steal it.
Actually, I might just add 5 to all difficulties for every extra card you want to move. That does cause issues though of how the PC's know whats on the next card. Though, I guess they don't need to know. They just need to know it'll be at +5... or +10 or whatever.

Javell DeLeon |

Are you giving Skyreaver any particular command, Dorn? I'm not sure what you're telling him to do.
Oops. My bad. "Seek" trick. Not exactly sure how it plays out but whatever it takes to spot him. Unless we CAN see him already.
And if that's the case then never mind. :P

Javell DeLeon |

(Armour check penalty is -4 for Scale Mail and -2 for Heavy Steel Shield)
HA! Daaaaaang that's a lot of minuses. AND the -2 for the 20' speed people. Dude, you can't climb steps! Lol! Much less a wall!(Or whatever it is you're trying to climb) :)
Sorry, but that just trips me out. I promise I'm laughing with you, not AT you. ;D
Marikel: "Alright, natural 20 on climb! YES!!! That would be a total of... 7. Hey, I had to have the kitchen sink and the oven! I don't hear anyone complaining about the oven for sure, huh?! Huh?! Yeah I thought not. Just be glad I decided NOT to bring the fridge with me, m-kay? Or I'd be... okay, what's worse than Heavy Encumbrance? Anybody? Is it like Mega Encumbrance or something?" :)

Marikel Selentin |

Is Marikel really trying to climb with his shield equipped? Or will he drop it in the alley and come back for it when the boys are caught?
I'm assuming Marikel has neither sword nor shield in hand to accompany a bunch of kids. It should be strapped to his back, but if he has to carry it in hand (which is a fair call- I know nothing about carrying shields and wearing armour) then he isn't going to drop it- there is a war coming so he won't be leaving it anywhere just yet.

It takes a move action to equip a shield so it stands to reason that there must a status where the shield is in a character's possession yet not in a position to be used defensively. In this case, the -2 ACP for having the shield equipped is the difference between success or failure on that roll. (You still get the -2 penalty for having a 20-ft speed in a chase on top of the ACP on the skill check.) You need both hands free to make a climb check anyway.

The Paizo version that made the most sense to me was the one that allowed you to move two cards in a round by succeeding at one check from the first card and one from the second. I suppose they had to add an extra card of movement because it becomes vanishingly difficult ever to catch up if the quarry has a head start.
Then, of course, you deal with the fact that you're contradicting the basic rules of the game by moving 90 feet in a single round, while also dodging obstacles. :P

So... the next few weeks are going to be interesting for me - which will have an affect on my PbP-osity as well. Starting tomorrow our apartment starts to become less inhabited as the movers begin to excise everything. Thankfully I'll keep the interwebs until Friday - but after then things are going to get scratchy from me until I'm firmly ensconced down in Sydney come the end of April.
So please to be keeping patience and whatnot... I'll be as active as I can.

Marikel holds the boy in his iron grasp. Seeing Dorn and Alicia corner the other boy, Marikel begins to drag his captive to the longhouse. "Your big sister will fight better knowing you are safe in the longhouse. If I can catch you, an invader can. Then they'd kill you. And your sister would be shattered if she saved Trunau and lost her idiot little brother. You've shown you'd be a useless soldier. A true soldier follows orders. If the soldier guarding your sister's back decides to run off and help someone else instead of your sister, she'll die. You don't want soldiers like that. Trunau doesn't want soldiers like that. To be a real soldier... .. ."
Alicia's perpetual scowl deepens as she follows along after Dorn and his charge, ready to spring into action in case the nuisance decides to make another break for it.
LOL! Oh man that's just so dang funny. I tell ya, none of these pc's(and I'm including Dorn in this) need children, like, AT ALL. We would be the worst example of parenting ever. :)
With Marikel's: "You've shown to be a useless soldier" and
Alicia's: "Stupid brats!" and "...nuisance" and then you throw in Vhailor's cat attempting to scare them to death... man that's just great stuff. :)

Joana |

Looking at the map of Trunau, you guys are on the south side of the wall from that letter K. The two middle towers are the gate towers that control the portcullis; each one has a Patrol person in it. The ballista is on top of the tower to the right, and the tower at the end of the wall to the left is the one that overlooks the Inner Quarter. It is accessible from ground level in the Upper Quarter or by going along the top of the wall from the left gate tower.

Enemy #2 double-moves to AP64
Yep, directly to Beyond the Doomsday Door. *ba-dum-tish*

In a holding pattern at the moment - we're still at my wife's dad's place and will be for another couple of weeks... which means we can't set things up quite the way we want to. I'll likely head offshore Japan (work) for 4-5 weeks in about 10 days, then when I get home we'll be at our final place with all our boxes.
Apart from that - all is well. Kids are adjusting well which is good, and we're enjoying everything that Australia has to offer :)

Dorn Desslach wrote:Charge(included in all below) to AC 50Armor Class 50? I'm going to have to see the math on how you achieved that. ;P
HA! That's hilarious. I didn't even catch that. Wait! What I meant to say was: Of course it's a 50. Would I lie just to never ever never get hit? :)

Lily Teskerton was their first spymaster but stepped down after Grigori the Bard exposed her entire network. She has been replaced by Yuri Gargarin, Karl's long time friend and confidant.
Oleg and Svetlana were also on the original council as Treasurer and Councilor but have since been replaced by Karls cousins Tatiana Medvyed and Vladimir Medvyed respectively.
Jubilost Narthropple was the original Warden but was replaced by Isabella Gargarin, another of Karl's entourage.
Kesten Garess was their Marshal and Akiros Ismort their General. Kesten has been replaced with Gunta Eisenzhan, another of Karl's cousins, whereas Akiros continues to serve as General, and as Yaneshi's protector and lover.
Karl is engaged to his childhood sweetheart, Natasha while Ursula has herself recruited the cunning orphan Tabatha as her apprentice and lover.
So what you're saying is that Karl is slowly replacing the entire council with his friends and relatives in preparation for a sudden coup. ;)

Joana |

So I have a question for the Aussies. The U.S. academic year runs September to June, with summers off (we are told) because back in the day that's when farming families needed their kids to help work in the fields.
So when does the Australian academic year run? September through May would give you winters off. Do you take off December through February for your summer, or do you have more evenly spaced vacations without a three-month gap to forget half of what you learned the previous year?

I wish I could get into a Kingmaker game that didn't fall apart within the first book. Ansha would make such a good queen/diplomat/spymaster. :(

He even cleverly got the backing of the other PC's. He took the leadership feat, and I let him make up level appropriate background characters. He then pointed out to the other players that his followers stats were higher than the stats of the NPC council members, and if his followers were placed on the council instead, it would improve their Kingdom stats. They ummed and ahhed but ultimately went for the stat bonuses.
Karl would never backstab them... surely. :-D
(To be fair, he hasn't advised me of any plans to do so yet. But we've been friends for many years, so I think he knows I'll let him get away with it. However, I think he's happy to just be in the position to do so.)
Our school year runs from late January to early December, aligning with the calendar year.
Our holidays are 6 weeks over December/January and three lots of 2 week holidays evenly spaced throughout the year to create four 10 week terms.
As one of the younger countries on Earth we abandoned a lot of traditions for a more common sense approach. Of course, we still kept a lot of dumb and inappropriate traditions, some which are even dumber living on the hottest, driest, continent on Earth, in the southern hemisphere, where seasons are reversed to the rest of the 'civilised' world. :-)

My first attempt, many years ago, fell apart one session before finishing the first book. They'd even defeated the Stag Lord and were going to explore the last two hexes and return to town to claim their reward next session.
Which never came.Ansha would be great to game with. Maybe next time I'm in America. :-)

My favourite hangover from the Colonial days has to be long service leave - which was originally set up for workers to take a decent break so that they could travel a ship back to the old country. You work for the same company for 10 years in a row and you get an extra 2 months holiday (on top of your usual four weeks a year).

I thought the Spiritual Weapon would follow the orc too, but reading up on the spell, it says it returns to me if it leaves my sight.
I'm happy to let that happen as I figure I'll have a spare move action next turn to redirect it.
And, as you're the GM, I'm also very happy if you decide that's a dumb rule and it does follow the previous target. In which case...
spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
...it doesn't really make much difference. :-/

Just for clarity's sake, I will always be using Tiger aspect on Skyreaver until further notice in game.
I think I may have mentioned this before but I'm not sure. So just to be on the safe side - and seeing how I was reminded of it with Dorn using an Animal Aspect - I figured I should mention it just in case I haven't mentioned it previously.
