The reason I went into town this morning:' he displays while once again fishing in that pouch, and he pulls out... a necklace. A necklace with a wooden pendant, and an emerald set in it. Jaiye will probably know that such a gift - to the elves of Laeren a gift such as this symbolizes an intention to marry.

Ehos can't seem to look back up at Jaiye, overwhelmed with guilt as he is.

Jaiye couldn't quite choke back a sob as she realized that this was supposed to have been a happy occasion, and now it was....she didn't even know what. But this at least made some kind of sense to her now.

She closed the distance between them and put her hand on his face to draw his gaze back to her. "I won't say this doesn't hurt. It hurts like hell. But at least I think I kind of understand. You wouldn't be the only person in the history of the world to do something monumentally stupid because you were scared of making a big commitment. Maybe we were rushing things too fast....I don't know. I don't even know if we can put the pieces back together. But I...I'm not willing to just give up yet. I think we should sit down. We have a lot of talking to do yet. I'll start. A brief history of Jaiye," she said with a halfhearted attempt at a smile.

While Anahita was triply distracted, by Ehos' datapad, Jaiye's response, and now Vare was leaving...

Without much thought, actually, little to none, Anahita grabbed Vare by the arm, with a bit of a firm grip, reached up while pressing against him and planted a passionate kiss on his lips, arm flowing around his waist, helping pull him close.

Lasting about three to six seconds, she then leaned back while still pressed against him saying, "You need be more fierce, though perhaps your tenderness is what lures me the most, Vare." With a grin, she glanced back at Jaiye and Ehos while looping an arm into Vare's.

"Jaiye and Ehos, if I may ... be excused? This is clearly a personal issue, though I wish only that you two find happiness and joy. Do not dwell on the negative, you have profound strength and potential within yourselves. If your desires are blocked, find an egress and grow around it. Change takes time and conflict is a part of growth. Do not retreat without good cause."

Attempting to use words to encourage the two, she then slips out with Vare, hand in his, smiling warmly.

Vare returns the kiss with equal passion and intensity - intially taken a little by surprise at the sudden display of affection. His arms find their way around her lithe and powerful form with surety - relying on touch rather than sight he is able to tell where she is truly.

After a moment she breaks off, leaving Vare perhaps a little breathless. They exit the room swiftly after Anahita imparts her advice, hand-in-hand. He hadn't immediately responded to her speech about his fierceness.

However, once they are outside - Anahita apparently taking the leadership role once again, drawing them out of the observatory... Vare stops and pulls her just a little forcefully back towards him - this time taking on the 'male' role, pulling her up towards him and planting a quick kiss on her lips, more teasing than anything. "Perhaps I could use to be a bit more bold." he says wryly, smiling at the shifting energies and form of Anahita's projection.

Effectively, Repp has used an ability to grant everyone in the room +12 of all Charisma based skill checks.

She sat and drew her knees up to her chest, hugging them tightly. "None of this is easy to talk about but I figure we might as well get all the ugliness out of the way at once."

spoilered for length:

"This is going to sound kind of like a random place to start but it's not. Not every lycan is exactly the same, obviously, and there are definite differences depending on what animal species. But most of the feline or canine varieties have this thing where....well, females hit puberty much the same as human females do, but then a little while after that the female will go into heat for the first time and that's more of the body's way of saying that the female is ready to well...have puppies...or kittens in the case of feline species. Hyenas are somewhere in the middle honestly. Anyways. It's considered bad form to touch a girl in a sexual way before she goes into heat for the first time and then basically whoever is strongest beats out the others and gets the er...honors. Umm...anyways. For me, I was still too young to have ....yeah, well. I already told you about how I got kicked out of my tribe. I just hadn't mentioned before how young I was. I did okay for a while. It wasn't easy being on my own, but," she shrugged. "I was getting by. Just. And I managed to not get found by other tribes or elven patrols so that was a win. And then I wandered across a human settlement which was the first time I'd interacted with humans....and oh boy, was it memorable. Of course that's when I went into heat for the first time. It's...hard to describe. It's like a compulsion. I was not just willing but eager to screw anything and anyone. I don't actually remember my first time. There were so many over the course of that couple of days, I don't really know who was the first. It was...not a good way to be introduced to sex that's for sure. I got past it eventually....for all the wrong reasons at first, but over time I made my peace with it and got to a place where I could be comfortable with my body. Obviously, you know that since we've explored that pretty thoroughly. But...back to the story. I stayed away from towns and such after that and hunted and such as best I could. I did okay. I survived anyway. And after a couple of months the symptoms of pregnancy were becoming pretty obvious what with not menstruating and my breasts swelling...so I took a risk and found someone who could sell me an er...herbal remedy to end the pregnancy. I traded two rabbits for it. Freaking expensive considering. I don't know if lycan and human bodies are just different, if the old lady made it stronger than usual because lycans are generally stronger, or if she just decided to rid the world of one dumb lycan. What I do know is that I ended up alone and bleeding uncontrollably out in the middle of nowhere. And that by some weird coincidence is where the gargoyle found me....they go out and recruit students for Avalon...I don't know if you've met them or not. But if it hadn't found me and brought me here to the school...to the infirmary...well, I would have died there. You'd think I'd be grateful, and I was, but I was also a messed up kid who didn't know how to live in a civilized environment. I got into fights. I got into a lot of fights. And then I ended up as Nala's thrall for a while and it was such a relief because I didn't have to think. I just had to do what I was good at, beat people up. And when that was over, well, I had a new pack, and I could just fall back into the patterns I knew and it didn't matter how much I bullied and hurt others because they didn't matter. It was their own fault for not being stronger. I really believed all that crap that Ssrena said. I didn't even feel bad about trying to overthrow the school....the place that saved my life...gods, I am such a mess. It took being separated from the other lycans and becoming friends with your sister before I actually started...acting like a sentient being again. And this is just the highlights. I skipped over all the petty stupid stuff. But at least you get the idea of what I mean when I say that I'm not really a good person."

After the story is finished, Ehos puts a silent hand on Jaiye's own, of she'll allow it. He's not looking at her like he feels she is a bad person in the slightest. 'Jaiye. I had no idea. I don't... I don't think you are a bad person. You made some mistakes because you weren't thinking... You had good reasons.'

Ehos squeezes her hand a bit tighter... Even moving to embrace her, again only if she will allow it. 'I'm glad I know this about you.'

'I've got some confessions too.'

"Okay," she said, "I'm willing to listen. To whatever."

Now that he had her in his arms again he didn't want to let go. He had thought it would never happen again, but here they were. It's at least ten or fifteen seconds that he's simply there holding her. It was a very good thing he didn't smell like Kara anymore.

He does eventually let go, trying not to tear up again himself. That she was even willing to /talk/ to him... She must really care. It must hurt. And he did that to her.

'Alright.. I guess I'll start at the beginning. Tyrrin and I are only a couple years apart, which is unusual for elves, especially since elven pregnancies last two years. Our parents were eager for children. Maybe my Mother wanted to get it over with. A pregnant leader is inconvenient after all. Anyway... When I was about 30... Um. That's developmentally about 7 or 8 in human terms... When I was about 30... We went on a tour of the border towns: a show of support. I didn't understand much at that point, I was a happy go lucky boy, more interested in flowers and chasing squirrels up the trees and rabbits on the ground. On that tour though... My parents were distracted meeting people... Tyrrin told me not to wander off, but I didn't listen to her. I was on the outskirts of the town when the raid started... I still remember the howls. I remember seeing fanged death coming for me. I.. Froze. I would have died right there if my Father hadn't managed to react quickly and find me... He had a blade out... And he shouted at me to run. I ran. I never turned around... And I never saw my Father alive again.' Ehos doesn't look saddened by this.. It's an old wound after all. He does seem stiff though. 'I don't know why my Mother couldn't bring him back, all I knew was Dad was gone. He wasn't coming back, and according to Tyrrin it was my fault. If hadn't wandered off...'

He shakes his head, a few tears forming at that. Apparently there's still some guilt lingering over that. 'Mother never blamed me... Or at least, she never said it. After that day though... It was hard being around my family. Mother took to working long into the night, not having as much time for us. Tyrrin wouldn't talk to me for the longest while.'

'I didn't want to think about what we'd lost... But my Father used to sing to us in the evenings... That's why I started. I missed it.'

'When I was old enough, I left home to study music and performance. I was probably about 70 when I started that... Just getting to the point in an elf's life when we start to experiment with sex. I've had a lot of girls... Especially at the bardic college. I couldn't seem to stick with anyone though. Anyway, as I grew up I realized that I wasn't really to blame for my Father's death... It was the Lycans. So I joined the military. I wanted to kill... Get revenge on the people who had ruined my family. Of course... My father's killers were never going to be alive... And after a while I couldn't take any more pain and death. It wasn't me.. I'm not like that. I didn't like going home either, because even if Tyrrin didn't hate me... Both she and Mother were so into their work. So I left home. I went to wander the world and see what I could. Mother told people I was on a diplomatic mission... I didn't care. I wanted to get away from all that crap. A friend I had made in the military was the only one who came with me. Tilnar and I wandered the world... We would play music for our living. Most times though... We each could find a willing bedmate and we wouldn't have to rent a room at an inn. I... Honestly Jaiye, I might be a father myself. I never really kept track. Life was just... Move to the next town. Meet people, party, tell stories, sing and have sex.'

He visibly sighs, though as always no sound escapes his lips. 'Eventually Tilnar and I went back, after years and years. I tried to fit back into society... I sang in more respectable places with my Mother's help. I could tell she never approved of my choices. I would always rebel.. Find a way to try to piss her off. If she was mad at me for something I did on purpose that was much better than the coldness from after the death of my Father. I don't know really... And then. The night the sky changed...'

He sighs and stops. The data pad always felt so insignificant. He looks up at Jaiye, wondering if she looked down on him for all the meaningless self-pity in his story.

One thing Jaiye would especially note: Neither Tyrrin nor Ehos have /ever/ mentioned their Father before this.

It doesn't even the scales if you make yourself miserable for the rest of your life. You honor your father's sacrifice more by living well and being happy."

"Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. I'm eager to help out, but I'd like permission from someone a little more official, no offense."

the amplified voice said.
"Course then again I don't wanna waste my flight time either...I'll come back tomorrow, see what's up then. Thanks...uh...Vai." The mecha bows, then it turns and trudges off out of the town, before taking flight, heading back to the factory.

Vai looks inquisitively at the mecha as it flies away, wondering how it was fueled powered. That was stuff she was going to learn about in Advanced Mechanics. It was exciting. She briefly taps into James' comm frequency, and says through it: ::James, your pilots are weird. You know that right?::

Before she returns back into the shell of a building. Krays was here now... what was going on? "Hey brother. So... what are we doing here?" she says casually to the black-skinned kobold. Anyone not acquainted with the Sunwake family would probably think it weird that this blonde haired, fair-skinned half-elf was sister to the black-scaled kobold. Very strange indeed.

::Uh...which pilot and what did he do?::

lang went through the portal arriving in the infirmary.

Lang quietly waits to be checked out but still seems a bit somber. Leaning over to Ignace he whispers to her

I'm sorry...I let that happen to you, I should have been better prepared.

She shook her head. "You couldn't have helped it. You were talking to Avatar Voltair. We tried to protect you."

Ace repeats the question "Do you have any further details that might help identify your attacker?"

To Krays "The man died in a fire, but his heart was ripped out as well. Clawed out specifically. I think this man is somehow related to what happened with Ehos and this girl, whom I believe is named Kara. As to any more significance, I'm not sure if there's anything beyond that. Though the mystery of what tore out his heart should probably be solved."

"I see. Phaeze mentioned a possible Infernal connection to this as well. The body is burned...you sure this is who you think it is?"

Ephebe turned to Midori's parents. "I do apologize for the interruptions. One of the hazards of running a school, there are always crises to deal with."

"Hello Vai. You interested in this corpse as well? It's quite possible he's more popular now then he ever was alive..." you're pretty sure though morbid, that was a Krays joke.

"I was going to try more direct methods to get information from the deceased should Ace's spell not garner the desired results, as a favor to Phaeze."

He turns to Asch
"Have you seen or spoken with Ephebe? She laid our first brood of eggs! Four little ones, on the way!"
He says proudly.
