The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Recovering himself, Vakkler looks up and notices a kid smirking at him.
"YOU! SLURK DEN CLEANING! FIVE MONTHS!"
Raging, Vakkler goes and slams the garden door shut. He then turns to every student within range, assigning detentions ranging from lines to shrieker fungus duty.

"Uh-oh!" She fought to gain her balance and just barely saved herself from crushing a hydrangea. "Whew! That was close. Oh, stop laughing, at least I didn't run away screaming like Professor Relkav did." ^.^
"At least not till Adisla comes by to see what happened to the plant he fell on anyway!"

"But I didn't do it this time!" she protested.

The roc sets her down gently before flying after its departing fellows. Everyone but Fei is present and accounted for.

Dennis sat miserably in a too small chair in the detention room. This sucked. First he nearly got eaten and now he had to write lines over something or other he didn't even understand. Worst weekend ever.

Male Kobold Expert 6/Slayer 8

Suddenly, Vakkler stops.
He looks around.
"Where'd everybody go?"
He ponders his dilemma. Bit over a hundred kids in detention....the teachers are busy either hiding or filing complaints...
"Hm." He clicks his tongue. Then he heads to the infirmary, pulls out a chair and begins berating one of the new healers. And the kobold waits.

The healer had to be sent on break after she started crying. The senior healer shook her head and gave the poor nervous girl a letter of complaint to deliver to the headmaster. Professor Relkav was out of control. She pursed her lips and ignored him as he turned his rant towards her.

"So," she said sitting down very, very carefully. "How goes Kam's meeting with his long-lost father?"

"....and THEN there's Stabilize. What a useless spell. It really goes to show how handy magic is, doesn't it? Most you can pull off is a 'don't die' spell. What ever happened to 'get better', eh? Is that beyond the reach of your little human gods?"

"Vakkler! Why is every student who was sent back in detention and stop attacking the healers they are only doing their jobs." Aleister says as he walks up to the koboldian teacher Rinth once again firmly under his control.

"Didn't I tell you to back off? I'll have to file a report..." The kobold reaches into his pocket and procures a little flask. He takes a sip. "...if you keep obstructing me. It's really getting on my nerves. Leave these matters to those who understand them. I'm sure you're a good swordsman, or whatever. But that discipline rarely applies to, heh, discipline."

Male Kobold Expert 6/Slayer 8

The kobold takes another sip.
"AND IT IS PROFESSOR RELKAV."

"So are you now put in charge of disciplining healers as well? Because judging by the poor girl who just left crying your discipline is about on par with the demons I was captured by in the abyss."

She nodded. "Good idea. Dealing with parents can be tough even without that kind of bad history. Most of us don't get along with our parents as well as you three do. I hope that Kam is able to work things out, at least to the point where he can be at peace about it. Even if he doesn't ever get along with his dad. And not maiming your father-in-law is a surprisingly wise choice for you," she added with a wink.

"No, it was an insurance policy in case they don't get along and I happen to be bored." Taron says, only joking a little. "And I wouldn't say we get along with our parents so much as tolerate them more. Give it four years and I think they'll be pretty angry with me."

"I guess that has something to do with that Empire that Jiminy told me about. Is this some kind of maturity thing? Cause you and Phebe both chafe at all the restrictions of hiding, but Jiminy couldn't care less. But he really never thinks about the future at all either. He's like a perennial little kid. What? EJ takes a moment restructure his mass creating several large air pockets. His surfaces ripple, changing density, thickness, and elasticity as he prepares himself to sing.

When EJ sings, he begins in 6 voices, male and female... and the numbers keep growing as he continues. By the end, Nala thinks she can detect nearly a dozen voices. It is an entirely a capella performance with background voices carrying the melody and a female voice carrying the lead.

He sings a song of hope which echoes in the plain room.

Perform: Sing (Take 10) 10 + 19 = 29

No worries. This game is designed in such a way to facilitate people having to come and go a lot. Cause you know, we all have lives and such. Well, not me. I'm always here, but the rest of you have lives. ;P

What is the link for? Other than a pretty picture of course. :)

"For me just being at Avalon is the most freedom I've ever had. I get letters from my mother every week whining about how I'm shirking my duties, but other than that it's pretty good. But I still can't just go wandering Agartha. A short appearance sure, but a lot of idiots have listened to too many bard's tales about getting a wish or some such nonsense if they can capture a firebird. I can't even imagine being outside of Agartha. It doesn't seem possible. But I've spent my whole life in a cage, so the concept of a tree seems a bit vague, to continue with your analogy."

"You've really been outside Agartha?"

It's a rules question! For Example: Does a halfling with a Quadruped Eidolon act in all ways like a Quadruped Eidolon when he's fused?

[Cheep Cheep] (O.o)

The roc that Fei is on twists around as it flies, trying to dump him off.

As the giant birds ascend into the low-hanging clouds skirting the mountainside, Fei refrains from attacking the one he managed to leap onto. If it was going to leave them in peace, then he would return the gesture.

Then the roc performs a sudden barrel roll to dislodge him...

Ride check to try and hold on: 1d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (15) + 10 - 5 = 20
[EDIT:] Forgot -5 penalty for riding bareback - now applied :)

Fei is hanging on by a feather and this bird is starting to go awfully fast. There's a rock outcropping coming up. If he jumps just right he can leap off the bird onto the rocks, but it's definitely a challenging maneuver.

Acrobatics check if he wants to jump, DC 29.

1d20 + 29 ⇒ (16) + 29 = 45

Fei brings his legs up under him and braces against the back of the roc. He then pushes off just as the outcropping passes by, getting ready for the impact...

Fei lands just perfect, not even injuring himself. He watches the rocs fly away and then looks around trying to figure out which direction he was from where he started. And realizes that he's got quite a climb to get down from this outcropping.

Letting out a long breath after trying to 'fly' twice in one day, Fei crouches down and peers over the ledge to try and get his bearings. He knew he had climbed to a respectable altitude, but he was unsure of how much lateral distance he had just covered...

Survival check: 1d20 + 20 - 10 ⇒ (17) + 20 - 10 = 27

A brief break in the clouds offers him a glimpse of the mountainside below and to either side of him. He catches movement and the glint of something shiny.

:: That may have been what drew the rocs to us in the first place, :: he thinks to himself as he begins to pick his way across to where the others are.

Climb check: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (3) + 29 = 32

The rocks up here are very slippy due to being at the cloudline, and Fei has to pick his way methodically to avoid losing purchase.

Fei can tell that he's traveled about an hour or two's climb to the west of where he was.

Knowing it will take some time to get back, Fei concentrates on closing the lateral distance instead of the vertical distance. As they were trying to ascend the mountains anyway, it seemed improper to waste the unexpected assistance the roc offered him. (^.^)

Climb checks to navigate the mountainside:
1d20 + 29 ⇒ (18) + 29 = 47
1d20 + 29 ⇒ (2) + 29 = 31

"Jiminy isn't going to go through all this too is he? I mean, is this some crazy thing that happens when you guys imprint on someone? All the crazy comes out then?"

Asch and Amada, does your group continue climbing in the direction that Fei's roc flew off?

"Technically, most of my crazy went away when I imprinted. Why? Are you afraid you'll have to deal with it if Jiminy imprints on you?"
