The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

::I'll be right there.::

"Apparently Uncle Ryo was dealing with a different aspect of this trouble and could use a bit of healing. I think I have a pretty good fix on his location, so we can teleport there. He's down in the tunnels."

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Grabs Ephebe's hand, focuses on the mental image and...there they are, next to Ryo...he surveys the carange...
"Wow..."

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Well, it's...thorough."

Ephebe pulled out her Caster and too aim at Ryo with a Heal shell.

Ryleh's divination indicated that either the left or right passageways would reach success, and the middle passageway has a 0% chance of success.

::Left or right. Not the middle.::

Image

::Okay. I choose right,:: she sent to the group as she bent the stone around the doors to completely cover the middle and left passages.

::Hiding underground from earth dragons. Bloody idiot.::

Ryleh Her usual mode of dress.

Ryleh had to suppress a chuckle.

::Don't get cocky, child.::

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

Blue Dragons are also earth dragons according to Pathfinder. >_>

The passageway finally makes it's way to a massive stone chamber, with what appears to be laboratory equipment everywhere. Alongside the laboratory equipment there also appears to be torture implements. The room is about twenty times the size of the auditorium at Avalon, both in height and in depth. Aananda spots Vai near the back, with some sort of iridescent straps keeping the naked form strapped to a table.

Aananda's knowledge of other dragon types is highly limited. :)

Ryleh walked into the room, shifting into her dragon form while Jiminy teleported the rest of the group over to where Vai appeared to be strapped to the table.

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

As the group teleports, Ryleh doesn't see them reappear at the destination immediately.

The spell in effect here is Anticipate Teleport, Greater which is sadly NOT part of the SRD, so I can't find a link to it. Effectively though, it notifies the caster of an attempt to teleport into a given area and delays said teleportaion for 3 rounds. (Meaning Ryleh is alone for 3 rounds)

A voice rings out through the cavern, echoing off the walls.
"You certainly made it here faster than I had thought you might. Is the girl so important to you?"

Lord Aegythrax wrote:

::Vai is family. I wouldn't expect you to understand about family. If you did you wouldn't be surprised that I arrived here so soon after you put my granddaughter and her unborn children in danger. This will not end well for you. That's not a threat. It's a promise.::

"It was just business." A certain smugness in his voice is very apparent. Suddenly the massive blue appears at the other end of the room and fires his breath weapon at Ryleh.

Saves DC: 40 Will save negates (to disbelieve Illusion) then 40 reflex for half: 24d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 6, 1, 6, 4, 4, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4, 6, 1, 4, 4, 4, 5, 4, 4, 1, 5, 6) = 90 electricity damage

Once the breath weapon lands (or is disbelieved), the Blue vanishes, and Aegythrax appears in front of Ryleh, and snaps at her, then vanishes again and reappears behind the Amethyst. He then strikes out with all his weapons before once again vanishing. The bewildering teleportation leaves Ryleh open to strikes against her vitals from behind.

Attacks are real:

Natural Attacks:

Bite: 1d20 + 55 ⇒ (3) + 55 = 58 Damage: 4d8 + 33 ⇒ (1, 8, 7, 1) + 33 = 50
Claw 1: 1d20 + 54 ⇒ (15) + 54 = 69 Damage: 4d6 + 24 + 9d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 6) + 24 + (1, 5, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1, 4, 6) = 68
Claw 2: 1d20 + 54 ⇒ (8) + 54 = 62 Damage: 4d6 + 24 + 9d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1) + 24 + (4, 6, 3, 2, 1, 3, 3, 1, 5) = 60
Wing 1: 1d20 + 52 ⇒ (4) + 52 = 56 Damage: 2d8 + 14 + 9d6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 14 + (3, 1, 5, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4, 5) = 63
Wing 2: 1d20 + 52 ⇒ (10) + 52 = 62 Damage: 2d8 + 14 + 9d6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 14 + (6, 3, 3, 6, 1, 6, 2, 4, 1) = 51
Tail Slap: 1d20 + 52 ⇒ (12) + 52 = 64 Damage: 4d6 + 33 + 9d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 5) + 33 + (2, 5, 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 4, 4) = 86

Ryleh doesn't spare a glance for the illusion, seeming to know what was going to happen a split second before it does, her body going ethereal just as Aegythrax began his attacks.

::Just business? This is why I said you don't understand about family....Are you quite finished?:: she added with just the right touch of boredom to be truly infuriating.

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Was away so going to put this up now.

After seeing others leave Enre goes to his room and sits shaking his head at all that has happened since he came to this school.

"I had some... unresolved issues with the Shadowstrikers." Ryo explains as the healing lets him stand on his own. "I would not have needed your help had I not gone overboard. It's good to know you're safe, in any case. The quadruplets are just as well I'm guessing?"

"Yeah, they're fine too....Sorry we couldn't wait until after graduation. We tried, but these four were apparently a little too eager to be," she said with a shrug and a grin.

"I'm glad you had a chance to resolve your issues, Uncle Ryo. It's better for everyone that the Shadowstrikers were...dealt with."

"Madness will choose a new Champion soon, and there will likely be trouble there, but it will take some time. And there are others who can deal with that trouble now. This....this thing with Chan and the Hunters and all of the family tragedy....it's over now. For good this time I think."

"Oh, I am quite finished... with you at least. That... what were they called? Firebirds? She should make an excellent specimen though, and she'll be re-appearing shortly. I wonder if you'll be so keen to run and hide when she's in danger." Almost as though the words were a command, suddenly the area around Vai is filling with what appears to be half-draconic creatures, with blue wings and claws and tails. The creatures look to be almost perfect replicas of Vai, except that each of them have some sort of device protruding from their backs. "One must be careful that their 'family' does not get hurt." At the same moment, a sandstorm appears to be whipping up in the cavern.

"Well, if you hurry, you can still graduate. I don't want to start off a daycare with a bunch of voracious eaters."

Ryleh laughed. It was not a pleasant sound.

::Who said anything about running and hiding? And do you really think that your pathetic creations are any match for my family? Didn't anyone ever tell you that pride goeth before a fall?:: she asked archly.

A series of crystals floats out from her scales and surrounds Aegythrax, crackling with power.

The crystals are basically casting greater ruin on Aegythrax, Fort DC 42 for half.

Damaage: 35d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 1, 6, 4, 1, 2, 4, 3, 2, 4, 6, 2, 1, 5, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 1, 4, 1, 4, 1, 6, 1, 3, 3, 2, 3, 1, 4) = 105

Ryleh breathes a line of force at him as he is dealing with the power she had stored in the crystals.

Ref DC 31 for half. Damage: 18d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 2, 1, 5, 5, 3, 6, 4, 3, 5, 6, 6, 4, 5, 3, 3) = 72

And in order to make sure she really had his attention, she used telekinesis to slam a large portion of what used to be wall into him.

Ref DC 45 for half: 20d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 4, 5, 2, 1, 4, 3, 4, 1, 4, 1, 2, 6, 2, 3, 3, 5, 5) = 66

::Your opponent is me. I hope that serves to get your attention.::

"In all seriousness, Uncle Ryo....even if we graduate, where else would we go? I.....I think these children deserve better than hiding away somewhere. I think we do too. It's not right that everyone else gets told that this is a safe place to really be themselves, but we still have to hide."

"I....I'm sorry. I'm frustrated, but I shouldn't take it out on you. It's not your fault."

"Things seem to have been building up to your big reveal, haven't they? First Kamenwati breaks Taron free of his apathy, then Taron breaks free of Agartha, and now you want to let others know about you."

"Given the recent amount of invasions and attacks, I was thinking about holding a special Hunt, splitting the students up into four or so teams. Would that be a good time for you to show everyone?"

Talk to our ancestors, dear sister. They're quite peeved with me as it is, so just add to the rage.

She stopped to consider carefully.

"I think that might be the best way, yes. Everyone will be there because everyone loves a Hunt. Even the ones who don't participate come to watch. And there wouldn't be a panic because at first they'd just assume it was an illusion or something. By the time they found out it was for real they'd have a chance to see that we weren't out of control and killing everything in sight like those horrid old stories."

I have.

They're not great at the whole listening thing.

Honestly, I think most of them have rocks for brains. Not much of a stretch since we're gem dragons.

"No student will be just watching, actually. Unless there is a medical reason for their absence, everyone will have something to do in this Hunt. Even the healers will in it. I think I'm going to call it War."

Great. Are we going to have the students murder each other in the showers? Stack the odds against the brightest ones? Force them to accidentally commit xenocide?
Excellent! It's about time we stopped employing weakling Agarthian teaching methods!

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

Yay! Field Trip!

"Oops, you're going to want to check your aim." Aegythrax laughs, as the illusion representing him vanishes. The other group finally managed to teleport in, appearing suddenly in the midst of the Vai-like creatures. The sandstorm increases in intensity to make it difficult to see in the room, and batters everyone with tiny flecks of rock and sand.

Everyone in the room takes 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 from the sandstorm. Not quite done Aegythrax's turn but I'm out of break time.

If they were going to do that, they would have done that for the normal Hunts.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

"Dunno if having three quarters of the school out for us at once is a great idea..."

"I think most of them would be too scared for a while. While it is random selection, there is still a one-in-four chance you'll end up with a family member."

"And since they might end up fighting dragons sooner or later anyway..."

Also, anyone less than 46 HD has to make will saves vs. fear at DC 34 (though Dragons may be exempted from this rule, need a ruling Lyn). Does Dragonfear affect other dragons?
Also, does SR affect psionics? If so, remember that Aegythrax has SR 32

Another figure of Aegythrax appears near Ryleh, and appears to be casting a spell, followed up by another quickly casted spell. The dragon smiles as beams of dark energy stretch out from his clawtips towards Ryleh.

Casting enervation followed by quickened enervation on Ryleh.
Touch Attack 1: 1d20 + 38 ⇒ (18) + 38 = 56 SR: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28 Negative levels: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Touch Attack 2: 1d20 + 38 ⇒ (15) + 38 = 53 SR: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32 Negative levels: 1d4 ⇒ 1

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

The creatures similar to Vai seem to also possess her fighting skills, (so, not great) and attack the group members by darting in and slashing and biting or staying back and firing blasts of lightning. While not immediately dangerous, if allowed to continue, these creatures could become a serious threat. Aananda (whom has seen Vai transform and use magic) notes that none of the copies appear to be using the magical capabilities that Vai displayed, and none of them appear to be transforming in the slightest, either toward half-elf or dragon.

I will leave it up to Phaez to react as he sees fit to these... creations but please to be remembering that he has no idea of Vai's powers or true nature.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Vai flinches as the sandstorm throws jagged rocks which leave deep gashes over her skin.

HP: 91/102

I'm pretty sure that dragons are immune to dragonfear. So let's go with that. Fi and Phaeze are the only ones who should need to make the will saves.

On the subject of Aegythrax's attacks, I didn't get a chance to ask last night, but are these epic illusions? They'd have to be to not be immediately disbelieved. True seeing is actually an at-will ability for these guys and Ryleh has extra cool true seeing on account of being what she is (a Seer). Also, yes SR affects psionics. Ryleh can make that DC without rolling, All the rest of them would have to roll. As a note, that's why I didn't give Ryleh's SR earlier because I figured that Aegythrax could get through it without rolling. Aparently not. :)

"While I think it's a good idea in general I have some obvious safety concerns....are you planning on converting attacks to nonlethal or something? Because I really can't afford to take the kind of damage some of these guys can dish out and if they freak out about seeing a dragon and attack.....plus, even aside from the dragon part, I don't like it when we have to break out the raises and ressurections. There's always a few who don't come back."

::Fieri, Phaezeriel, keep these creatures busy! James, now!::

Aananda concentrated all of her power on the swirling sand, drawing the flying pieces of earth towards her in a whirling vortex.

The sandstorm within twenty feet of Aananda is already starting to calm as she draws the earth to her like a magnet.l

Fieri stepped away from the others a bit and unleashes a fire burst emanating from her body and ten feet around her.

Should catch two or three of the mooks. Ref DC 18 for half.

Fire damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 6) = 15

Image

Jiminy ignores the blue creatures, instead pulling out a small plastic ball and hitting the button on the side, using his reality bending ability to increase the contents of the sphere tenfold. A swarm of nanites pours out and heads for anything metal and electronic they can find.

Aananda has what amounts to a 'don't eat this' code imbedded in all of her creations just so she can use these little guys. They will eat anything and everything metal and/or electronic. Think of it like unleashing a million tiny flying rust monsters....it may take them a while to eat the entire lab, but good luck stopping them short of an EMP.

"Now that the enemies in this school have been dealt with -hopefully- the wards should be back in order before the War. Before all of this, the wards kept people from getting hit by a killing blow or before poisons can really kick in. All the safety precautions will be back online."

"I'll clean up down here. Go get some lasagna to eat, from the school or my house. I'm sure you've been missing your favorite food." He says with a smile.

That's the disadvantage of the way I built him, he's half caster, half melee. The attacks are actually him coming out from wherever he's hiding, but most of the other abilities are him casting spells/breath weapons through his illusions. While they aren't technically "epic", they are natural spell-like abilities with a CL of 46 (since they go off of HD), so it might be safe to assume that they are.

Also, blues can cast a partially-real illusions of themselves as a free action. How is that even fair? Hah!

You know, given that I might have been in the lab occasionally, wouldn't some minor electrical resistance be in order?

Also, I'm starting to be glad that Ryleh doesn't have a lot of attack abilities....although she's got a solid defense here. :)

Ryleh sighed as the spells failed to penetrate through her natural resistance.

::I hit what I was aiming for....your attention. And you are truly starting to irk me.::

She directed her psicrystal swarm to stay on standby as she concentrated very hard on seeing just a few seconds into the future.

I'm trying to remember if it's Hypercognition or a different power...books are at home will check later. She's trying to set up an attack on Aegythrax by divining his exact location.

I'm not sure if Hypercognition(Link) is the power you're looking for.

Male Half-Elf

"Huh, looks like we might not be dodging rocks today." Michael says as he walks into the gym with Kitty and is unable to spot Professor Sunwake. "I wonder who we'll get as a substitute?"

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

"Lasagna does sound good...

Errm...I could raise these as undead, if you like. They could guard the tunnels from anyone else trying to sneak in this way again, and tell them to obey you."

Her stomach growled at the mention of lasagna.
"I think that's four yes votes for lasagna," she said sheepishly. "It's amazing how quickly the increased appetite kicks in."

"Alright, I'm going to go get some food and then probably a nap, and hopefully the others will be back with Vai by then. I might make it to afternoon classes. I hope that getting kidnapped after breakfast is an adequate excuse for missing class," she added with a smile.

Yep., those illusions would definitely count as epic. Okay, cool. Gives me something to work with there. :)

Electricity and EMP, not exactly the same thing...also, still adding improvements. That's why we brought so many of these little buggers. :P
