The point I was trying to make in my earlier post is the Resistance isn't interested in building (or having to maintain) armies per se. They're more of a grass-roots kind of thing. Fielding (and trying to hide) a true army would be suicidal.
The thought is appreciated, but I'd like to keep these aspects of backstory firmly in my pocket for simplicity's sake (for the same reasons as Lynora stated regarding Wishcraft). It would never come up in game play anyway, so I'd rather not have anyone expend effort on anything that will never see the light of day, neh? (^-^)
N.B.
And the only 'army' in the Dragonstar setting that could realistically take on the Dragon Empire right now would be the one controlled by the mind-flayers out in the Dark Zone. And we don't want to recruit them - trust me on this. ;)

I'm actually indifferent to the books, so no hate for them here, but no love either. A lot of people seem to like them, and I am CERTAINLY not one to throw stones at the glass houses of others' cultural obsessions. We all dig what we dig.

Thing is, the books are really sexist, probably gave a lot of folk a very disturbing view on romance and romanticize self-absorption and self-pity. That's why they're despised by so many, among more ordinary reasons.
