I know what you mean Lang. I'm at work right now during prime posting time. Can't get enough time to properly post.

Dom Waverider |

I'm on off and on myself. Then again I'm on most the day since I can do most my work on a computer. I just don't like to sit here refreshing the page all day.

Dom Waverider |

Me or Zilla
Ok enough with the self serving.
As for other characters.
Tybs or Mel: kind of a toss up currently

Tybalt Baneko |

I just realized that if everyone in the band is cool with it, The Devil Went Down to Georgia has really good parts for all of us.
Would be cool. ^_^

Edward Sobel |

on a side note I occasionally paruse the recuitment threads to find potential new recuits for this game and to see what others are running.
I have been noticing a trend in new DMs. recuitment has been a first come first in type usually open and close inside of 2 hours.
And it isn't fisrt to post a chaarcter if you just dot an interest in time your in. then after players are selected then they create characters.
any thoughts? wonder if this is a good thing?

Tybalt Baneko |

Yay I'm people's favorite. ^_^
If I had to pick one it would probably be Vriskra

I think this could be a real blight to people who happen to be afk for those two hours.
If you're talking about here I don't think there's ever any competition to get in or anything like that. ^_^

As a GM whose done several recruitments, I can tell you that is absolutely the worst way to choose players. You have no idea about true level of commitment or interest that way.
As a player, I often cite interest in any number of games, and truly am, but if too many others post, especially rapidly, I may just quietly bow out. Sometimes to let others have a shot and sometimes because I don't think my particular submission is good enough.
Course since most of my games have sputtered out and died, this may not have been the wisest move in retrospect, but hind side is 20/20.
As for my favorite PC? Not sure I have an actual favorite, but as I've said before, I enjoy reading the vast majority of stuff from Lyn, Fireclaw, DB3, Dalesman and Kryzbyn.
Depending on the scene, I also do like Tybs as well, and the longer posts by Igni are rather good too.
Honestly, there aren't really any PCs I mind reading, just depends on the scene. Like when Johnny gets too tech or is goin on about his worldview, I tend to skip those posts.
Also, when PCs get to emo, I tend to ignore them as well.

I'm not allowed to play favorites...obvious reasons. :)
As far as recruitment for PBP goes, it tends towards two different frustrating choices. One is first come first served as you mentioned, the other is everyone makes a character and basically auditions for a spot. I actually find that more frustrating cause you often end up with a dead alias when you don't make it in. And you're just as likely to end up with a game that crashes and burns from either method. Logically it shouldn't work that way, but folks who are good at making characters aren't always committed and with any method, you often get GMs who can't hang in there cause they underestimated how much time it takes to run a PBP. It's a whole different set of skills than a live game and certain mechanics have to be abandoned if you ever want to get anywhere. (I'm looking at you, initiative.) Anyways, now you see a lot of why we have open recruiting at all times. Those who want to post a little can. Those who think the game moves too fast drop out. Those who aren't really that committed to it drop out. The people who stick around are...well, you guys. :) And with a large revolving cast the game doesn't grind to a screeching halt because one or two players have real life stuff come up that limits their posting time. There are other ways to do it, but I have never seen or been part of a successful PBP that didn't have a large cast, for just that reason. You ever want to see a good example of how to run a more standard adventure successfully in PBP format, check out one of Patrick Curtin's games. Most of what I know about running a PBP I learned from him. The rest was trial and error. :)

Monkeygod |

My longest running PBP is small, I believe four active PCs at the moment, with two on the sidelines.
Its had month+ long lulls, due to our GM's work and RL stuff, including his new little one.
It even came very close to dying due to a serious misunderstanding between one player and the GM. However, I stepped in as peacemaker and all took a step back, cooled off and now everythin is wonderful, more or less.
Btw, the GM is Voice of the Voiceless, who along with a few others is why my GM alias is Voice of Awesome. You know, aside from the fact that I am awesome.

The next time I get any money, I found what I'm spending it on.
Well since the URL refuses to work Its the gargomon hoodie like three pics down. ^_^

GM Spugly Fuglet |

When I have the Cash this is what I am getting
RedCam Ty

GM Fireclaw |

Just out of curiosity how tall is Repp?
Average height for a gnome... about 3'10"? Don't have a reference.

Tybalt Baneko |

A video camera? How expensive can it be? You actually have a job. . . . .

Tybalt Baneko |

Tybs isn't that much taller than repp then. About three or so inches over. Tybs is 4'2

Tybalt Baneko |

Rolled gnome height is from 3'2 to 3'8. He could be taller or shorter though. :)

GM Fireclaw |

Spoken like someone who doesn't have to pay rent. :)
Tybs also floats though, you have to remember.

"Ace" |

I think Tybalt should just be a normal cat most of the time, except when he needs to be in human form and then he can shift to one.
He just always comes across as much smaller and cat like than he actually is.
Ps,
The above is actually supposed to be a compliment, I think, based on how I picture Ty, due to how he is portrayed.

Tybalt Baneko |

That's mostly to keep from leaving frost prints and killing grass. He sees floating and walking as equals. ^_^
And no. No I don't. ;)
Enjoying it while I can. :P

He is short because the ice makes him grow slowly. Live longer too. Kinda like living cryogenic refrigeration. He still grows but it's very slow. As for being a cat it just wouldn't really work for me. Also there's no way he could do it. No spell effects like that. :/

Dom Waverider |

I've been a PbP admin min more times that I can remember (mostly because I don't want to.) but as for recruting methods.
The best methods really depend on what type of PBP game play you have. Roleplay like here, Adventure heavy as in running normal game just PBP, Or a mixture. This should also help determine your max players or needed extra GMs.

Dom Waverider |

I think so I'll go look at Midori's posts

Dom Waverider |

There we go replied to it. :) Sorry about that. Not sure how I missed it. It has been happening way to often. :(

lynora |

Yay, paizo finally working for me again. ^.^
And yes, chibi Magneto is a great description for Dara. He even has the tragic backstory to go with it. He could make a fantastic supervillain. >:)
....or he could work through his issues and not end up evil....guess we'll see. I gotta get the kid into class though so he can use his magnetic superpowers sometime when Midori freaks out and starts turning everything to metal. :)

Dom Waverider |

paizo error paizo error. Bah! Stupid errors.
hopefully there over.

Tybalt Baneko |

I thought it was my phone for a while. Glad (kinda) to see I'm not the only one. ;)
