Bartimaeus smiles and grips Faraldur's shoulder. "You are right that our group does not lack for will. We would be honoured to add yours to our own. Join us." Turning his head to Viorel and Barek, he raises an eyebrow. "Would you not agree?"
Abigail Garrett
"Aye! I would join as well if you would have me!" Abigail says with a smile. "Nothing forges a stronger community than the imminent threat of death and the potential reward of... well, saving the world! Ah! Ah!"
She looks at the three, hopeful and thanking Erastil for the binds that tie the good people together.

I'd like to buy a light riding horse, although to do so I'll have to sell (or at least ret-con) some of my ammunition... It cost me 50gp to make 10 metal cartridges, so if I sold them for that cheap (or ret-conned them out of existence) I'd be able to afford the horse (75 gp), a riding kit (16 gp), and an extra 12 days' worth of feed (6 sp). I'll also pick up 14 days worth of dwarven trail rations (2 pp 8 gp). The feed and the rations will all be going in the horse's saddlebags.

"#¤#¤"¤&#!#%#¤&&#"!!!!!! I hate the boards. Managed to edit the profile once to test it and after that no go. Will try later to get it up to date. Anyways shopping list, Light horse combat trained(Hopefully that will keep it from running away) 110gp and Chainmail barding for it 400gp. Oh and since Cinderfang is gone now, the first thing in the morning spells change to Extended(Via rod) Mage armor(duration 14 hours) on Viorel and Sacha.

Liette's strapped for cash after chargen (and picking up a gunsmithing kit for field repair/bullet making that I forgot to grab at chargen) so she's sans mount. At least until Barti turns into a dragon. Then I think she's just going to want to ride the most badass thing in the Worldwound.

Sorry, I thought I had posted. This seemed to happen to a bunch of my games recently. I must be going crazy. Anyhow, what are the colours on the hex map (I see green, orange, red, a slightly orager hue around the Nail keep, and then regular land colours elsewhere)? Which hexes have we cleared, which have the other group cleared, and which are still untouched?
DM Jelani
As I stated above, the green is clear, the orange is partially clear and the red is untouched. All the normal land is also untouched, just didn't want to cover the whole map in red. Clearing them is not linked to one group. The hex that was cleared was actually mostly done by the other group if memory serves. It doesn't matter who clears it, it matters who claims it.
Viorel Ariaza
I don't really see the point in going to the uncleared one first, since we would waste time going trough hexes wasting time without any particular reason. Just better use up that cleared for advantage. No wasted movement in getting those 4 hexes claimed and back to Kenabres. Then get the glider and can start thinking about hexes surrounding the Nail. Either way clear the whole group of four then back to the keep.(Cleared, partially cleared, and the two next to them.) Also forgot to include in shopping list two key items. Bit and bridle 2GP and military saddle 20gp.
DM Jelani
Okay, orange hex it is! We're moving at 30' with Liette and Barek unmounted, correct?
The day in the library passes quickly and with some success. Purchases and are made and a new contract signed with Liette, Abigail and Faraldur added on. The consensus seems to be to head for land that's already been partially cleared.

Who's handling the endure elements for the group/mounts? I also need memorized spells/extracts if any.
The group gets an early start heading southwest from the river ferry. Nathaniel/Bartimaeus flies slightly ahead of the group, keeping watch over them. Viorel, Faraldur, Abigail are mounted while Liette and Barek are walking. They journey all day through the open bush without incident, and rest through the nightly mists. Come morning they set out again, still heading south west, about three hours into the day's journey they pass into the area marked as partially explored on Viorel's map.

A huge lumpy globule of darkness blooms into existence about 100 feet above the group, it's shaped like a tight cluster of grapes stretching hundreds of feet across. DC 18 Spellcraft check to identify this as multiple castings of Deeper Darkness. The shadow over the group blocks out the light of the sun turning noon into night. The globe itself is impenetrably dark. If you have darkvision, you'll be able to see 60' into the darkness once its that close.
Barek, Liette and Viorel may each take a single standard action in the surprise round.
Nathaniel.

Mind if I do a quick scene immediately after leaving the city?
Shortly after they leave the city, Bartimaeus steps up onto thin air and flies up, scanning the perimeter. Returning to the ground, he pauses and turns to his companions. "Viorel, Barek, you will already know the first of the two things I must say to you all, forgive me for the repetition. Abigal, Liette, Faraldur, you will not. Firstly- this form is a simple illusion." Lifting his hat a few inches above his head, Bartimaeus' appearance shifts in a brief glow of golden light to that of the blue dinosaur Viorel and Barek know and appreciate in combat. Returning it to his head, his disguise resumes itself. "My true form grants me strength, keen eyes, and fast flight. It is also not of this world; it is summoned from another plane."
"This brings me to my final revelation. This half-elf body is a replica of the true form of my dearest friend, Nathaniel. He is a magician and he takes on the form of Bartimaeus, my form, with his magics. We share minds. After Rosa and the rest were murdered, he took it very hard; he has not been raised to deal well with tragedy. To protect him, and with his permission, I took control."
"I doubt this will ever have cause to concern you; it is a personal matter and should not impact you. But I felt I should prevent any accidental future deception or misunderstanding by speaking now."
Finishing his speech, Bartimaeus returns to the skies, watching.
Jelani, my perception modifier is +28, not +2. Can I presume I can act in this round?
As the sun is blocked out, Bartimaeus sizes the situation up and flies to the safety of the group, drawing his weapon.
"Whatever this is, it benefits from darkness! Anyone who can create light, do so! Stay close; if we need to flee, grab onto me!"
Fly down next to Liette; nearly touching the ground but feet say 1ft above it. Draw weapon.

So my current preparations are as follows:
3rd—fly, 1 slot open
2nd—barkskin, invisibility, 2 slots open
1st—enlarge person, shield, 3 slots open
All extracts are always made as infusions so someone else can use them if need be.
Faraldur would have asked in advance if anyone wants an infusion of enlarge person and given it to that person before we set out. (Looking at Barek here? Or Bart?) If nobody wants it, I'll change the extract to true strike.
==========
Faraldur is hardly surprised by the revelation of Bartimaeus' true form and the strange agreement going on between the dinosaur and the half-elf, the whole display earning him little more than an arched fuzzy eyebrow and a curious stare. "Not much shocks me after 40 long years out here, but a transforming blue dinosaur man is... certainly a first."
"Tell the lad to take his time in there. Most of us aren't so lucky to be able to insulate ourselves from the suffering."
==========
When the skies above become shadowed over, Faraldur reins his horse to a halt and looks up, his brow furrowed in concern.
"What in the... storm clouds? No... this is definitely magic!"

"Multiple enemies that was more than one spell. It's more powerful magic, do not bother yourselves with minor magic to create light! Get mundane light going to increase the light level!" The mage yells. Following his own advice he quickly casts a spell on his crosbow quiver or more spesifically one of the bolts, lighting it up.
Cast Spark. Target one crossbow bolt. I was kinda assuming that the fire would not get really going during the surprise round. If it does Viorel has resit 5 anyways so it should be a minor problem.
The bigger idea is to increase the lighting level to bright well before the effect of deeper darkness that is.
Buffs: Mage Armor +4AC, duration left 10 hours
Spells: 1st: 6/day 2nd: 8/day 3rd: 5/day
DM Jelani
The sky is overcast enough to make the day normal light level. Thus the spells are reducing it normal->dim->dark. Let's look at the definition of light levels:
Areas of bright light include outside in direct sunshine and inside the area of a daylight spell.
Normal light functions just like bright light, but characters with light sensitivity and light blindness do not take penalties. Areas of normal light include underneath a forest canopy during the day, within 20 feet of a torch, and inside the area of a light spell.
Essentially you need the equivalent of a daylight spell or better to overcome it. Or it could be dispelled. Mundane fire isn't birght enough. You can change your action if you want.
Still need an action from Liette and Barek.
Viorel Ariaza
Probably was just my memory messing with me but I remember that basically any decent light source would increase the light level unless it was all ready at bright light. Made sense to me since fire is enough to "blind"(all you see is white for a moment) you close enough. Well anyways on the change thing. People ignore the statement of getting mundane light going, otherwise turn remains the same can use the fire for pyrotechnics. BTW do we see limits of the spells since I got the impression it's in the sky blocking out the sun like a huge cloud so there would be an edge or is it total darkness since the globe covers the sides as well?

Seeing the dark shapes fly overhead, Liette is quick to steady herself and fix her attention of the blossoming shapes of darkness forming above. Her eyes narrow, one hand sweeps open her jacket and her hand stays trained over one of her holstered revolvers.
"A deeper darkness than most," Liette mutters, looking at each of the globes and then over to Bartimaeus as he lands beside her. "I'll figure this out, stay close."
Then, closing her eyes, Liette begins to recite the mantra of St. Clydwell, "தீய அலை எதிராக உறுதியான நின்றுகொண்டிருப்பவர்களிடத்தில் உடைக்க வேண்டாம், தடுமாறாமல் இல்லை, வளைந்து இல்லை." As she recites these words, a soft candle-light glow begins to spread around her body.

The creatures' skin seems to instantly change color to match whatever is behind them.
Okay, everyone can act. You guys are still in the radius of the darkness spell, so people without darkvision are blinded. Only way to counteract the darkness is a higher level light spell (daylight or better) or to dispel them.

With some effort, the dwarf leaps out of his saddle, shooing his terrified horse away. He'd have to find the beast later--or perhaps accept that that was something of a failed investment. That's what he got for trusting that shady bastard at the stables offering a cheaper alternative than the stablemaster!
The dwarf scopes out his enemy in the sky above, trying to recall if he had ever read about such a beast before. He grabs his battleaxe with one hand and draws a grenade from his combat suit with the other, grumbling a litany of curses in Dwarven under his breath as he does so. The grenade is marked with a poorly-painted image of a cloud. With a roar, the dwarf hurls it at his assailant; the bomb explodes when it hits the demon-dolphin in a cloud of thick smoke. Faraldur reaches into his pack once more, this time withdrawing a flask of alchemist's fire. Rather than tossing the flask, he empties the container all over his axe, causing the metal to glow red-hot and begin to slightly smoke in the air. Unflinching, Faraldur takes hold of his battleaxe in both hands, ready for the counter-attack.

Your knowledge check lets you now that these creatures bear too many demonic traits to be fiendish, they must be some sort of half-fiends. "I can see the bastards, aye. Grew up in the mountains where the darkness gets darker than this."
Faraldur scowls, noting that the dolphin he attacked seemed to shake off the force of his bomb more than he had anticipated. "Sonuva... blasted things are immune to just about everything! Careful there Barek, they're aiming for you!"
The dwarf takes a step back towards the group, mind ticking away. He wants to take out his gun and start firing away, but Liette's suggestion to protect Viorel did make sense. So for now he watches the line of cetaceans closely, ready to defend if need be.
Move: To W-44, next to Viorel's horse.
Standard: Ready an attack if one comes near.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Miss
Also I gave an infusion (potion) of enlarge person to either Bart or Barek earlier, whomever wants it.
Liette d'Argent
Putting this out there in the assumption that Vi is going to pull out the daylight spell. If not I'll retcon with a separate action.
"Everyone who can attack, get ready to do so!" Liette shouts as she crosses her arms over her chest and breathes in deeply. Once again she begins chanting a droning mantra in the lilting, crystalline tongue of angels. As the chant grows in volume, Liette's hands begin to tremble.
The moment the darkness burns away under the dome of illumination, Liette's eyes snap open with a spark of candle-light fire, shedding that same soft glow across her cheeks from the now luminous irises of her eyes. She looks up, trains her sight on one of the sky-swimming monstrosities, and brings up both of her revolvers.
"போ."
The sound that follows is a dozen thunderclaps and the shouting choir of a celestial host.

(+1 to attack and damage for any of the dolphins in 30'. Hard to tell with aerial combat on the map).
Plan is to start on one dolphin and if the gunfire kills one then move to the next closest.
Reminder: Advanced firearms target touch AC up to five range increments out. So, 100 feet for revolvers.
If any of those attacks hit, all non-evil allies within 30 feet of Liette gain a +1 competence bonus to attack and damage rolls against any of the creatures struck.

Round 2 Init 23
Using the hero point. The rambling is just me trying to make sense of the thing IC wise.
Viorel tries to grasp some idea within his mind on how to deal with the situation. Suddenly an inspiration comes to him, perhaps he just realized how to manipulate fire in to light, perhaps how to modify his minor light spell, a memory of ancestor who knew the spell manifesting or just plain dumb luck. What ever the case he calls on the arcane forces and touches one of his rings that suddenly burst out in to bright light. After managing to recover from the shock since he did that mostly subconciously he yells out. "If that darkness returns start yelling their locations." He then flicks his wrist shooting out a wand into his hand.
Standard to cast daylight object touched in this case is one of his rings. Duration 80 minutes if it happens to come relevant and CL 8(varisian tattoo)
Swift action to get the wand of infernal healing out of spring loaded wrist sheet. Move action nothing.
Oh and map wasn't working correctly for me. Says something wrong with the document.

Free action: 5' step to X40. Not really sure what's going on around Viorel and Abigail on the map, but X40 seems like a nice corner nook to fit in.

Did Abigail and Sacha hit anything? If not, does Abigail get the sense that it won't work given Barek's new position? If she feels it's useless, she'll revise her action.
Abigail curses as the creatures fly off without her having hit any of them. She hears Barek move closer and steals herself and Sacha for a second round.

The sound that follows is a dozen thunderclaps and the shouting choir of a celestial host. Three of her bullets strike the tail dolphin in the line, dropping it to the dirt. The others miss their targets.

Initiative 11
Bartimaeus restrains a sympathetic wince as the dolphins strike down at Barek. He calls out "Barek! Step back, closer to us! Make them come into reach of all our blades if they wish to attack!"
Following his own suggestion, Bartimaeus quickly steps up in the air, hovering a few feet above Liette, blade ready for their assault.
Initiative 8
They were already fifty feet away when she readied, they are diving down and back up with fly-by-attack. She didn't get AOOs because she was blind. Then when they flew at Barek they didn't come anywhere near her reach.
Abigail curses as the creatures fly off without her having hit any of them. She hears Barek move closer and steals herself and Sacha for a second round.
Now that you can see, your attacks should work fine assuming they come into your reach.
Initiative 5
""હા! આવો અને મને વિચાર મૂર્ખ માછલીઓ!" Barek shouts as he steps back towards the group, firing another flurry of arrows. He puts another arrow into one of the previously injured ones (#5).

The dolphins continue their dive bombing attack, focusing on Barek.
The first dolphin to dive (#2) gets a nasty slash from Abigail as it flies past biting Barek.
Bite 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
The others are able to avoid the reach of the waiting party as they try to drop the bowman.
Bite 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Bite 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

The end their dives again at fifty feet off the ground, well out of the reach of the melee weapon wielders.
Everyone can act. #5 is most damage, then #2, then #6.

"Alright" mutters Bartimaeus "New plan."
Hefting his blade, he shoots straight up towards the dolphins and begins laying into them.
70ft flight speed + haste should get me close enough to start whacking.

Liette d'Argent
Seeing the abyssal porpoises still swimming, Liette remains planted in her position. With the power of her weal fading, the celestial light that once emanated from her frame dissipates into sparkling motes of light.
Wordlessly, she continues to fire her revolvers up towards the swirling, shadowy forms revealed by Viorel's brilliant invocation of daylight. The loud report of the revolvers is an unsubtle but brutal weapon, though the natural agility of these aerial creatures has proven to make them difficult targets. On her third shot, there's a louder than usual report from the muzzle of one revolver, followed by the grinding sound of metal on metal.
____
Liette's attacks will move from #5 to #2 to #6 in that order (if) the first target dies.
Justice (+1 Haste): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 (Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12), 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 (Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8), 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 (MISFIRE) (Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14)

The misfire has rendered her primary firearm "Justice" broken, which will apply penalties to future attack rolls. Probably will use the Quick Clear deed to fix that next round.

Viorel glances at the wound on his shoulder. Revenge is sweet abyss spawns. After finishing the thought he starts casting his spell and point his finger at the center of the enemies releasing a ball of fire that after finding it's mark explodes in to a brief inferno.
Fireball not absolutely sure on the grid had to look like 4 times. But #4 lower left corner. Si cross section of V35, V34, W35 and W35. Either way if I saw correctly it should catch all the critters.
