Nathaniel's swipe misses the elephant, and as he retreats it takes a swipe at him with its tusk.

Cinderfang keeps his paw poised in the air, ready to unleash his spell. Rosa moves forward, both her and her sword muttering infernal prayers, the blade swirling with clouds of angry red light.

The angry elephant charges out of the trees, eying the group of creatures that have disturbed its slumber with its blood red gaze. It paws the ground and trumpets again.

Cinderfang releases the stored energy with a primal growl. Imperceptibly, a huge swath of area suddenly sprouts sharp spiky roots and thorns, and blades of grass suddely grow hard and spiny.

Assuming he runs straight through the area, he'll take 6d4 damage, no save. His speed is slowed by half unless he passes a DC 16 Reflex save. Only detectable with Trapfinding, so no chance he'll see it.


@ Nathaniel - You can charge 100 feet in a straight line as long as there's nothing in the way. I'm not gonna let you charge through the trees while flying at 10-20' altitude though, because you can't charge through difficult terrain and all the tree trunks would get in the way of you zipping through them. Normally flying lets you fly over and ignore difficult terrain (if the ground is buckled or slippery or something) but since this is coming from trees that's not the case.

Nathaniel flies a short distance and begins muttering arcane phrases, his size gradually increasing as he chants.

Rosa moves into position, awaiting the elephant's attack.

Initiative 3

The elephant charges forward over the spiked growth, completely oblivious to it. Wherever its black hard feet touch the spikes they shatter and a smoking footprint is left (just flavor text, spell is still in full effect). It runs right over Barek, and Torin headed for straight for the tiger.

Trample:
Trample (Ex):As a full-round action, a creature with the trample ability can attempt to overrun any creature that is at least one size category Smaller than itself. This works just like the overrun combat maneuver, but the trampling creature does not need to make a check, it merely has to move over opponents in its path. Targets of a trample take an amount of damage equal to the trampling creature’s slam damage + 1-1/2 times its Str modifier. Targets of a trample can make an attack of opportunity, but at a –4 penalty. If targets forgo an attack of opportunity, they can attempt to avoid the trampling creature and receive a Reflex save to take half damage. The save DC is 25. A trampling creature can only deal trampling damage to each target once per round, no matter how many times its movement takes it over a target creature.

So Barek needs to give me his readied attack, and then either an AOO with a -4 penalty and take 2d8 + 15 ⇒ (3, 5) + 15 = 23 damage, or he can try to make a DC 25 reflex save to halve the damage. Then Rosa gets an AOO as it runs past her. Torin, it provokes an AOO from you because of your reach so you can take that without a -4 penalty, and still make the reflex save for half damage. Once those three things are resolved, Cinderfang/Sun-Eater can post.

Barak takes a powerful swing at the beast as it approaches and then swings again as it overruns him.

Not sure if Barak was caught in the original Bless spell. If so, add +1 to hit (not included but noted beside rolls).

As the chaos spawn charges past, Rosa swings, then when it stops she Moves, this is what she is used to, waiting for a mistake and then acting, vague memory's of another place and time cross her mind. then she is back in the now, As she moves Dark contract her sword, shimmers darkness, sucking in the light around it, The sword is readying itself for what comes next. Rosa 10' away holds her unholy sword high as it screams in Joy, then down hard. Its dos not miss the black hide of the best splitting as the sword cuts deep, then the swords darkness starts to drink its flesh (channeling Smite) Rosa feels its body consumed and Cry's out in joy as she feels its life seeping away. (Flavor) ye yanks out her blade and ready s for another attack, her deep Maniacal Laughter filling the Air.

Cinderfang holds his ground, dismayed as the beast completely ignores his spell. As the beast closes with him, Sun-East cunningly circles around behind him and chomps at the beast's flank. Right as the demonic elephant closes with him Cinderfang rears up on his back legs savagely clawing and biting at its chest.

Nathaniel finishes casting and with a growl grows to twice his height, before flying towards the obsidian-skinned elephant.

Initiative 3+ Completion

Barek's massive blade goes through the elephant's hide like a hot knife through butter. His first swing catches its right foreleg and cuts to the bone, causing a gout of oily purple blood to splatter him. His backswing catches the left forelimb at behind the knee, at the same time he is crushed by the rear legs as the animal thunders over him. The elephant continues on oblivious to the pain, right into Rosa's field of attack. Her own massive blade comes down onto its right shoulder, not cutting as easily as Barek's sword, but leaving a gash from the sheer force of the blow. Continuing onward the beast runs right onto Torin's planted fauchard, which rides up the pachyderm's chest and neck, slicing one of it's sail-like ears clean off. The elephant however is unhindered and runs right over Torin, trampling him badly. It comes to a stop in front of Cinderfang, rearing up on its back legs and trumpeting loudly.

Sun-Eater moves to support his master, and the elephant lashes out at the dinosaur with its tusks as it runs past.

The double tusks tear two long furrows along Sun-Eater's left flank, but he presses on. Reaching the elephant's rear he bites at its legs, but his mind is clouded with pain and he misses. The attack does however provide a distraction for Cinderfang, who enraged at seeing his trusted companion so damaged, leaps upward and sinks both his scimitar like fangs firmly into the elephant's neck. He follows this by raking both claws down the elephant's chest as he drops back to the ground.

The elephant is now badly wounded and clearly terrified its eyes roll back as torrents of purple blood drip and pump from its multiple wounds.

Viorel called upon the arcane powers as he started the casting, his right arm becoming circled with flames which finally found their way to his fingertips and shooting as two searing beams of fire towards the beast.

It doesn't matter anyway, because...

Torin steps back and swings, but his attack narrowly misses the shifting elephant.

Viorel's firey rays cut into the beast's chest, hitting the spot already shredded by Cinderfang's claws. The rays rip open the animal's thoracic cavity burning and boiling it's lungs and heart alive as they come streaming out onto Cinderfang in a great stinking purplish pile. The elephant collapses sideways, nearly crushing Torin in its fall.

As the elephant falls, Nathaniel cancels his growth spell with a hand gesture and a muttered curse, and he falls to the side of his companions.

"I missed, twice... I am sorry, comrades. Because of my ineptitude, our plan failed; even though our foe fell."

You need to grow stronger.

Rosa walks around to the front of the thing, and with one thrust of her sword slams the blade into its brain, Then she pulls it out and looks at the tusks, with a number of well placed swings lops them off from the skill.

"Its a Fiendish Elephant seems to have some Demon in there as well. If you can not heal yourself let me know, I have some power to help with that. Nathaniel you did not run, you stood with us, that is all that one can ever do when fighting demon kind."

Rosa pats him on the back.

"Now once I am done lets have a look at what the trees over there and see if they hold thing of use. Also can any one skin this thing?, Its hide may be worth some thing just like the tusks, not not well we have the tusks."

She places the tusks in the ground to dry

"Barek, what they say about you is true, that was work you did there. Lets hope the next ones as easy"

Edit, Dos this mean rosa did not get a full attack just the AoO if so shes saved some magic, cool always helps.

"Not sure the hide is worth much anything in that condition skinning would take a while too with that thick hide I wager and time is somewhat of an issue. Nathaniel you mentioned bones earlier in the area where we spotted the beast?" Inside the clearing Rosa finds enough bones to make up dozens of various creatures. Most are different animals but there are also several humanoid skeletons. Some of them have shattered bits of equipment. Doing a thorough search of all the bones turns up a suit of masterfully crafted Full Plate armor designed for a medium creature. It is etched with flower designs running up the breastplate, and whoever once wore it was slim and tall. Along with that she finds seven potions. Three of which are identical.

In the center of the grove is a wide shallow pool of water that has been befouled by the elephant. It is swarming with flies and mosquitoes.

Rosa looks around the horizon and then up into the air to see if any thing is coming.

She stretches her back and put her sword but on her shoulder hook.
She takes Puppy into the tress to see what he can sniff out.

After she takes some meat from her pack and feeds him.

How many day and night do we have GM before we loop back to the where we started over the river?


The other potions are Cure Light Wounds x3, Hide From Animals, Magic Weapon, and Mage Armor.

"We have here three potions of light healing, one aiding hiding from creatures, one of anointing ones weapon with magic, one of magical armor, and a potion to enable one to endure intemperate conditions."

Nathaniel turns to the tall tiefling.

"I am afraid that I do not need a set of full plate, Rosa the Magnificent- as for the design, I suggest we keep the armour and ask about it if we return to civilization- whoever died in it, they would likely come from a rich and possibly grateful family."

I can use more of my wand on anyone needing healing

@DM I'd like to investigate the body and determine if it is edible or not, if we could take some to extend our rations. Also determine if the pelt is worth taking.

Cinderfang shifts from his cat form, and wrinkles his nose at his own smell. He nods at Viorel's offer. "Yes, please."

"I would have use for that potion of armor, if it emulates the spell the Viorel cast on Sun-Eater and I. That endurance potion will be helpful if someone starts flagging in this hellish climate. If we came back to use this area as a base, I think I could reclaim that pool of water." (Thinking of repeated castings of Purify Food and Water)

Sun-Eater is back to full health.

"Heh, let's first get to a place where we start to head back before thinking too much about what kind of price it will fetch. And just for the record no I have no need for armor it interferes with the gestures needed to control the arcane powers." Viorel then starts casting the spell and soon the shamans clothes start to become clean.

"Yes, that is the name of the spell in the common tongue. We should probably place the healing potions on either the front line people or to the people that can heal so in case they fall unconscious they can be revived even in the event that all healers are down."
