now now, calm down and don't try anything funny. We just need to ask you a couple of questions. And for the record, I didn't ask him to do that.
If it looks like he tries to do anything hostile will cast color spray dc 16

Payk |

The wizard struggles for barely a second before giving up*.
The wizard gave up entirely too quickly for it to not be suspicious.
Payk smiles at the wizard, bending over at the waist and looking up under the wizard's brim. "That's right, Varian didn't ask, but I told him to capture you. And I can tell him to break one of your arms if I wish, because I'm the Captain." Payk prominently displays his badge. It's a seemingly awkward maneuver but the elf manages it with grace.
The wizard says nothing.
Payk's Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Vince and Askrel are up ahead of the wizard.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Well. Looks like Ursus' got everything... covered? I dunno. The wizard seems awfully confident for someone who's being hugged by someone with such large muscles. I narrow my eyes and glare at the necromancer.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
in the mausoleum Payk mentioned the grave as belonging to the lost love of count glavius. There was a know check prompt then, I'll repeat here.
Count Glavius is the current regional ruler and widower of the late Lady Oleria. When Andoran came under common rule, the respected count, one of only a few of the previous nobility to stay in rule, was elected as mayor of the region, though he kept his title as count. The Count though, has not been since in public in over a century. He is said to communicate with local authorities, but that information is always more rumored than confirmed.

Vince Hellbound |

I see what I assume to be a wand fall from the wizards hand and quickly snatch it up. Even if it's not a wand and just a stick, better safe than sorry.
Speaking of being safe, being killed by a Count is not on my agenda.
"And why would he do that?" I ask.

Varian Seldlon |

really? Well no worries. We didn't a thing do to her. And as long as your here, her rest won't be disturbed. Seriously, how morbid must a wizard be to use necromancy.
Then it dawns on him
reunited... You don't mean as in... Yeeesh. What is he? A lich or something....
I don't like this... May have gotten in over my head here...

Varian Seldlon |

A thought struck Varian
quick let me see that wand! I want to check its purpose.

Varian Seldlon |

Detect magic.
Can you take 10 on a spellcraft check for an item? If so 18,

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
You cannot take 10 on spell craft in a timed environment.
The wand is definitely still magical. There are a few other magical items on the wizard, including his robe.
I'm going to assume that Kathal's hands have been bound now? While not quite in combat timing, I will be tracking time loosely by rounds to keep the developments going. I will restart the count as round 1. Round 1 starts with Kathal tied up and responding to Ursus,.
The Wizard is quiet a moment, struggling with his bonds though he makes no progress in freeing himself. "My part depends on whether I think you can kill me or not. Tell me, are you quite skilled."
The wizard is stalling for time.

![]() |

Yeah his hands are tied at least.
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
"Stop stalling! Answer the damned question", Ursus growls.
"Keep an eye out. We might have trouble coming."

Askrel Bel'Thar |

Askrel backs away slowly as it dawns on him just how thuggish this scene may look from afar, supposing anyone would actually be this far out into the boneyard. Silently he slips away from the scene along the main path, keeping an eye out for anyone.
stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Varian Seldlon |

Varian will move to the wizard and relieve him of his items. Including robes, holding his blade at his neck as he does so.
SM: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
someone strip those robes off him. I've no doubt he is no good. Come, let us leave this place, he is stalling for time, and I'd rather not have any surprises coming to soon. Those items will do nicely as compensation for our troubles, and quite possibly show us our next steps to take. Bring him with us.
Varian will only personally take items he knows are not cursed.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 wand
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 misc
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 misc
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 misc
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 misc
spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 robe.
I believe he shouldn't have anything more than that. Ofc he will keep the wand, whether or not he knows what it does for now. I did the rolls in the order I would assume to be taking them. Its there are less, feel free to not use later rolls

Varian Seldlon |

alright. Just didn't want to bog it down.

Kathal Whitebeard |

no worries, it's good thinking.
The graveyard seems surprisingly empty, with no one appearing on the main path from Tadloton.
Though the players were crowd around him, the wizard grows much more frantic as Varian steps forward wand in hand. At Varian's comment the man grabs something from the back of his robe and drops it behind him. The something streams from his bound hands and piles on the ground, solidifying into bones. The bones grow diseased-looking skin and form into an ogre.

Varian Seldlon |

since he technicaly interupted Varian, wouldn't the wizard go just before him ;D lol.

Vince Hellbound |

Oh. Ok. Giant zombie ogre thing. I didn't need to sleep tonight anyway. I scream and charge, hoping that I sound intimidating rather than terrified.
Charge attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
Once again, sorry for the delay. Let's get this going again.
Vince and Payk manage hits on the ogre.
Askrel and Jack react quickly, the elf loosing an arrow and the human bringing about his elven blade.
Attack Askrel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Hit
Attack Jack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Miss
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Ogre Damage: 20

Kathal Whitebeard |

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 Fail
The wizard fumbles with his bonds but cannot break free. The ogre, unbeholden to anyone, strikes back at Vince.
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
His awkward shoulder forward is unsuccessful.
Those splotches on the skin mean this is variation on the plague zombie. You do not want to be near plague zombie ever, but especially not when it is killed.
(1/2) Varian and Ursus are up. There is space next to the zombie to attack with melee, but doing so would cut of Askrel's line of sight. Any position next to the zombie will gain combat advantage (+2).

Varian Seldlon |

Varian will step around to angle the wizard and the orge into a 15ft cone and toss up some colored sand. Then mutter an arcane word. Suddenly a burst of color spirals outwards covering the orge and wizard and is gone just as suddenly as it appears.
casting color spray, will move into such an angle as to only get the wizard and orge, 15ft cone. DC 16.

Kathal Whitebeard |

Will Save Ogre: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Fail
Rounds: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Will Save Kathal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25Pass
Varian's magic stuns the ogre, leaving it silently towering over the nearby party members. The wizard resists the magic, though he cannot avoid Ursus' grapple. "Unfortunately my friend, the ogre is notunder my control, and will run rampant unless I should be freed well enough to cast a spell to turn him to my side."
He seems to be telling the truth
You're quite sure he's telling the truth

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
I just hit backspace and lost this post but I'm going to kleep those rolls.
ROUND 3, first round of stunned ogre.
Payk squints at the wizard for a second before focusing back on, and attack the ogre. "Uh, guys... I think he's telling the truth." The words punctuate Payk's missed attack.
Vince, Askrel and Jack are up

Varian Seldlon |

get that FF orges bum!
I've stunned the orge! Take it out now!
