Parry is described on 242. In DW it is a little different, you can put it on your sheet, but it isn't a skill or talent. You challenge your WS to parry a melee attack. There are some talents later you can possess that may allow you to parry multiple attacks.
I do not require a sheet so much as just needing to be able to click on your picture to get your stats. I can not scroll up and search for where ever it was you pasted them on this thread every time I need to see something.
Ok now that I have answered those questions I will go through your characters.
Nimon |
Ok I just went over Brothers: Eremel, Valerio, Gaius, Hallan, Espoir's DA Devestator, Thedius, oh and Tellimicus I will be sending out PMs on what you need to change if anything. If I missed you please let me know it had gotten a bit chaotic with all the messages. Once I open the discussion tab let me know if have any more questions.
At this point only reply here if you are Submitting a new character, Roleplaying on the Ship the Pious Immolation or if I missed you just now. Any other questions submit in the discussion tab I am about to open.

The first mission is up. The first 6 to respond are on the mission. However, if you are not on mission, you can still do things on this ship-which we will continue to use recruitment thread for, and you will get XP for doing that, and you will be on standby for if someone fails to respond in 48hours.

I'd quite like to join in, I've run a bit of Deathwatch and played the mission in the back of the core book, but never much more than that.
I haven't got any PbP experience though, so I hope people might forgive any mistakes!
I realise I'm too late for the inaugural mission, but are there any gaps in the the Kill Team's capabilities that need filling? I'd quite like to play an Ultramarine (seeing as I can't play a Raven Guard).

Brother Zacirus'spersonal log entry 9, day 63 of the tyrind invasion of Macragge.
we held again today, slaying over a thousand of these beasts for every brother that fell. Yet I still feel unsatisfied. The beasts cannot withstand our advanced firepower. This invasion shall be held in check. The emporers will be done.
Personal lag entry 23, final day of tyrind invasion .
victory, by the emperor the bugs are shattered d. Alas the cost is great, the first company is eradicated to a man. But none shall be forgotten, there names forever place in a memorial within the hall of heros. To think I was to be inducted into the 1st company merely days before the invasion... But now, now a different calling has come. I have been deemed worthy to join the deathwatch. Its quite fitting. Here I can redeem my name in glorious retribution for my brothers within the 1st company. For the ones I should have saved, or perished with... For the emporer and for macragge. Many bugs will feel the wrath of a marine.

For roleplaying on the ship post here. That will give it a constant bump and let people know this is an active endless recruitment thread. That way we never run out of people do to drop outs and we get a lot of new blood which seems thematic for Deathwatch and its many different flavors of chapters.
If you want to make a second character I am not opposed to it due to the nature of this game.
Elyas |
The sound of metal on metal filled the hangar of the Pious Immolation as Elyas walked down the ramp of the black Thunderhawk gunship that brought him here. He walked in silence next to the crew of brother marines to come. Waiting for him at the bottom were the Watch Captain. The Dark Angel stiffly saluted his new commander, but couldn't help gazing at the black pauldron. Who is this Brother, he wondered as the formal greeting are exchanged.
Then began the painful road of leaving chapter behind and becomming one of the Deathwatch. Under the watchful eye of a techmarine, he recited incantations of honour, perseverance and maintenance overhis trusted power armour before the task of painting it black began, only the chapter marking on his right pauldron was left untouched. A small reminder of his past. The change was complete many hours later when the addition of the deathwatch heraldry to his left pauldron finalised.
I thought it would be okay to start from the beginning with heraldry. Training and hypnoconditioning will be added in later posts. let me know if you have any thoughts.
Brother Maximus Zacirus |
Once again, he is left inn the training room. Ever since his first missions a week ago he had still not been chosen. He had done everything according to the codex, followed to the letter, mission was accomplished. So why was he still here, when there were bugs to kill.
I WILL be on the next mission. I grow restless and I will never bring honor to my chapter from a training room.
The room resest and he sees the enemy, a tyrind gaunt. He draws his power blade and advances bolter firing of in bursts.
Half to walk 4, half to fire of bursts.
bolter: 1d100 ⇒ 70
1degree of success
damage: 3d10 + 5 ⇒ (1, 9, 4) + 5 = 19
His shooting suffers due to his wandering mind, but he soon gets that in check, and removes the thing with his power sword.
After that he leaves the training room to converse with the deathwatch keeper.
[B] hail and well met my honoured brother, please, tell me how one would receive the excellent craft of bolter you can craft?
Just incase you want a roll,
fellowship: 1d100 ⇒ 10
on a side note, would you prefer us subtract our bonuses on the roll or after?
Lord Inquisitor Gathrix |
Brother Maximus Zacrius
you can add your score with your roll. Fellowship 40: 1d100 ⇒ 15 or fellowship 40+10%charm: 1d100 ⇒ 14
The only Keeper on the Pious Immolation is standing sentry in front of a special vault in a secure area. You are granted access to the area with the provision that you are accompanied by a senior member of the Tyrantine Cabal. A tall thin man in a nicely tailored suit approaches you and says he will enter with you, and suggests you get clearance from your Watch Captain to speak with him due to the strict protocols.
Watch Captain Enoch restricts you from asking the Lord Inquisitor about this planet, and restricts you from telling him about your fellow kill-team members, but you may enter the lower decks with him.
As you walk to see the Keeper the Lord Inquisitor eyes you occasionally, but says nothing except I have always found the Ultramarines to be the purest of chapters. I am glad to have you with us Master Astartes.
The Keeper seems confused by your question Brother I did not craft this bolter, perhaps you have me confused with our Brother Forgemaster? The Inquisitor with you seems baffled by this question and seems to be considering a hidden message you might be trying to pass. He looks at the keeper and simply asks All is well Master Keeper? to which he replies Yes, Lord Inquisitor.

Brother Maximus Zacirus |
like how many apothecarys are recognizable by there trademark equipment like the chainfist and or the helmet and built in light tech marines also usually have recognizable features on there armour such as a servo-harness, a particular type of exe or what have you. And imo most marines could recognize these items. If he has no armour on or none of these features assume I said nothing about him crafting anything. I just overly assumed he would be a techmarine OOC, as the two separate games I've participated in they were also just call him zacirus,
Nimon |
Once you become a Keeper, you get a clavis and a special power Halibard. Look at the picture in Rites of Battle. Nothing about any of that would give you a hint into his past. Instead of saying something like that in the future maybe say "I'd like to see the Keeper" or something like that. I can not assume what you would or would not say based on 100 varibles, I can only go by what you do say.
Nimon |
ah, see don't have RoB so I never new they looked different as I was always told they were techmarines and never looked into it much.anyway I did say it was my bad for making an over assumption. I know plenty of stuff about 40k, but little about deathwatch.
In the end all that happened is you made an odd statement to a Keeper. Did you want to seek out the Forgemaster or a Magos? There is both on the Pious Immolation.
Brother Lucian Vartas |
Brother Lucian looks up from his copy of the Codex Astartes, and rises from his seated position. Although he finds solitude comforting, and appreciates the time he has for study, he knows that he must report to the Watch Captain for daily orders.
As he walks the corridors of the Pious Immolation, dressed in robes of black with a silver sigil of the Ultramarines stitched upon his breast, Lucian notes that there are fewer of his brothers on board than he is used to. Lucian arrives at the command deck, and he presents himself to the command station of Watch Captain Enoch.
My lord, I note that some of our brothers are deployed on a mission. While we are short-handed, do you have any requirements of me this day, or may I return to my training program?
Elyas |
The hallowed hallways of the Pious Immolation is still foreign to Elyas as he walks to great library of knowledge. Much of the training by the Deathwatch was an extension of what he had already learned in his parent chapter, but one thing was new the lore of xenos, the most forbidden lore that he had never known before his curiosity was peaked. "Brother," he greeted as he passed one of the more senior member of the Deathwatch sitting with his own datascroll. At the moment a squad was deployed to the world below and with that world as a basis he began studying the xenos of this particular corner of the sector.
Watch Captain Enoch |
Very good Brother Vartas. Your file suggests you are being groomed for command. I would like you to work on your squad tactics. Seek out Brother Elyas and Maximus Zacirus and meet me in the training room.
For brevity due to this type of game play I am going to assume Brother Elyas and Brother Zacirus has no objections. If you want to post something that you do prior to meeting in the training room that is fine.
The training room is vast, taking up nearly half of a lower deck. Members of the Offico Assassinorum and the Inquisition are practicing combat when you enter, but all of that stops when you and the Watch Captain enter. All eyes are on you wanting to see the famed Angels in Death in combat.
Sometimes you will need to work together to take down a superior foe. He draws his powersword without activating it. Come at me!
Brother Lucian Vartas |
As you command, Captain. If I may take my leave to prepare my armour and weapons, I will meet you in the training room forthwith.
Brother Lucian leaves the command deck, and makes his way to his arming chamber, where his serf is waiting to ritually arm and armour him. Lucian voxes Brother Elyas and Brother Zacirus with the Watch Captain's message, and states that he will present himself at the training room as soon as possible.
As the serf works, consecrating his equipment and offering supplications to the machine spirits, Lucian begins to run through close combat scenarios from the Codex Astartes in his mind, focussing on his upcoming training with the Watch Captain, who will no doubt be a much more skilled melee warrior than Lucian himself.
Having left his heavy bolter behind, carrying only his bolt pistol and combat blade, Lucian arrives at the training hall.
Brothers, we should co-ordinate our attacks to wear down the Captain and force him to leave himself open. Even with the three of us, I feel we are in for a significant challenge. My close combat skills are not what they were; Brother Elyas, perhaps you should engage the Captain and keep him occupied while Zacirus and I work around him to take him down?
Brother Maximus Zacirus |
thank you for the conversation Inquisitor, and thank you keeper for your time. It seems I am due for some training.
He will bow his head and ask permission to leave. Then make his way to the training room. Still in his armour.
my melee abilities are still strong, I grew much in the combat with the filthy tyrinds.
will wait for elyas to check in vefor going further
Watch Captain Enoch |
Do not ask Brother Lucian. Commanders do not ask if their commands are good ideas. Give and order! The Watch Captain lectures Brother Lucian as he makes some impressive movements with his sword.
Yes, Tyranids are a worthy foe Brother Zacirus, but I may know a few more tricks. I am ready when you are The Watch Captain Enoch's bionic leg makes a robotic screech as he positions it behind him and holds his sword in a strong, but neutral stance.
Brother Lucian Vartas |
Yes my lord. I recognise my deficiency and will be sure to correct it.
Drawing his combat blade, Lucian turns to Zacirus.
Command(55+5 bonus): 1d100 ⇒ 56
Brother Zacirus, we attack together. You go forward, and I will circle around the Captain and exploit any openings, as instructed by the Codex. Now, brother!
I'll make an initiative roll, I don't know if you want one, but I figure it's a combat
Initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Nimon |
Good call on initiative. And since you got one degree of success, Brother Zacirus gets a +1 initiative(using a creative take on the wording of Command and speeding the time it takes to execute)
Initiative for Watch Commander: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Initiatives for Brother Zacirus, Vartas and Elyas
Watch Commander 15 Seems to be patiently waiting.Delaying until you are in melee range.
Brother Vartas 11
Brother Elyas ?
Brother Zacirus
Brother Maximus Zacirus |
initiative: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
indeed Captain. Let me show you the strength of an ultramarine. Go now brother.
Zacirus JUST so everyone knowa pronounced zac-ir-ius will quick draw his power sword and keep it powered off.
He will charge forward
charge attack: 1d100 ⇒ 72
with a +20 that is one degree I think.
Elyas |
Elyas had kept himself a few steps behind the two Ultramarines and as they attacked, he waited a fraction of a second before acting. He is not a brother of mine, but he is my current commander, Elyas reasoned with himself before drawing his combat knife and approaching the watch commander. Once within range he lashes out with the knife.
Initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attacking (WS 55): 1d100 ⇒ 73 Bonus for outnumbering?
Ready as a free action, move as a half-action, Standard attack as a half-action.
