I need a chance to check some bits on old pages (I have a feeling that I didn't fully update my sheet when we last got experience) and that is hard to do on a phone, so the first chance I will get with a computer that isn't at work will be Wednesday. But either way I will be spending my xp on WS, BS or T. With 2 alternative levels I think I am sorted there and most of my weaponry is signature stuff anyway, although I would be interested in improving my hammer further, particularly if it would allow me to make use of swift attack. Mainly though I really need to work on my background so that we can find a way for me to cleanse my armour and get it's improvements.

Just in case anyone didn't see this post before:

As for missing xp, on a case by case basis I'm willing to offer some xp in advance for some things as who knows when you will be in a position to do what you want as my format has shown. Even if not granted right away, the process will begin and things set in motion. I'm handling the Alternative ranks requests like this for keeper and war priest. Just need you fellas to mention something here or by PM so I can fit it on to my narrative and make sure you aren't too far off in xp. Maybe with 2k for alt rank and 1k for hero gear. If you are that close we can talk, otherwise, you'll have to wait.

I've gotten replies from 2 of you and I know 2 of you won't be doing anything. If I'm missing someone or you want to get something "big" in before we set off again, let me know.

If I advance you XP, then you'll get the gear/rank, and when XP is awarded just deduct the amount and you won't have any to spend until your in the positive again. I'll trust you all to manage that. Just list it in you profile for me and you to easily reference and remind us if needed.

@Deleos:

I'd say it would be difficult to find that unless they were looking for it and you've given no cause for it. Fluff wise, if people know about it, then they know its possible and you don't have the insanity yet to be affected by the curse, even though its a possibility. You aren't going to need to fear that aspect in my game really, so don't be overly concerned if you are. If no one knows about the curse, then its even more difficult to find, as I'm sure for aeons its been present in gene-seed and DW Apothecaries have cared for brothers who are at risk (which is a lot spread across many many chapters) so the likely hood of it being "discovered" now is nil. Now if you got a lot of insanity and went bat shit crazy all of a sudden and or increasingly and frequently, drawing attention to yourself, someone might want to isolate the idea, but I imaging those brothers would be recalled to their chapters before such a thing occured. Varryl has the gene-seed anomaly and it lists the mechancis for such a thing, but only if someone were looking for it and with cause. Otherwise, he's fine 99.9% of the time. So does that answer your question?

If you want to know the mechancis and criteria for when you'd be "in trouble" i could list that. I dont mind you still roleplaying as you have been, just know that you aren't the first or last to have this issue in the DW, so I don't see any inherent risks for you specifically.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you read previous messages, not just the last one, otherwise you're missing stuff. I try to deliniate between whats for someone specifically with an @"name" and @ Everyone. Sometimes one message could contain both, so make sure you read up and dont miss information that is important.

Thus far I've got Vartas' request for Keeper and Ulrich's request for War Priest. Pyros' request for hero gear details. Anything else I should be aware of, let me know ASAP. Xing said he's fine. So that leaves Varryl and Tyreon just joined, so he's spent his xp.

@Tyreon: You do not get any xp from the previous mission and you've already got 2 alt. ranks. Sorry I forgot to mention that earlier, hopefully you haven't invested it, if so, just take those back. Though if you want some advance xp for hero gear, let me know, as you're a champion it would be fitting, but I don't know the cost of those in your rank and if they fit the criteria I previously listed for taking some XP in advance. See previous post if you don't remember. Also on a side note, I mentioned some additional roleplay and the multiple rolls in advance for the duration of the trip is fine, but I said you'd get some of your memory, not all, and what portion could have been influenced by some roleplay, but you didnt even roleplay meditating, the concentration required, the struggle and failure of your success and failure during the trip for regaining and organizing your memory. Roleplay brother, no roll play. Give me some more to work with, otherwise I'm gonna give as little as you put in.

That should only leave Deleos right?

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

Think so.
And yes that solves pretty much my question, just trying to keep the lore and the inherent ... "Outside Apothecary"-carefulness of a chapter trying to hide something ^^

I have only 1,1k right now and we talked already about hero-wargear stuff, didn't we? I think there was the idea created to give out stuff like this early - even if some little amount of xp (400 in my case) is still missing.
If it is in reach (I read your previous posts that way) I will not spend any xp as of now - thats why I kept silent. Though we were even after talking about the hero wargear and all - maybe I did not make i t clear enough - sorry for that.

Also I got Chaplain already as Alt. rank, so as of now I cannot think of anything else ... maybe I'm missing a book, but all alt. ranks I know of are those in Rites of Battle and the chapter dependent one from first founding. What is that War Priest Ulrich is interested in? And were comes the dead station vagilant from pyros comes from? Those do not ring any bells on my side.

@Deleos, remind me again of any hero discussion, sorry, got a lot on my plate, about to land a huge contract for my food sourcing business and I'm catering this weekend and next, add Thanksgiving and I'm a busy guy, just got offered a kitchen on top of all this at a bar so things are unusually busy, but it's what I've wanted.

Just remembered as I'm typing the hammer discussion, my bad. Yea, got that in the mail. The war priest is a wolf alternative rank, can't recall book. Dead station vigilant is in the Outer reach book with necron stuff, but that isn't an option for anyone right now.

@Varryl, you all good?

@everyone, we ready to proceed and jump to the fortress?

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

I think I'm ready to go.

Mainly got plans for penance for loss of my wargear, followed by study and meditation once I've finished in the apothecarion.

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

I am good to go. Better ask than miss something important, its all right.
Ah, Wolf Priest is the term (in fluff at least). I am interested how you will do that. And we got from 0 to 1 and a half healers in pretty much no-time as wolf priests are something between apothecari and chaplains to the wolves if my memory serves me right.
That should defiantly solve the issue of: "Healer! We need a healer, quick!" "I wall call him. Who has been hit?" "The healer!" "Oh..."
;-)

Yea, I knew the priest was coming, but glad to have the Apothecary aboard, I was worried about you all burning fate points, but no longer, time to turn up the heat and really punish, I mean push you guys. :)

Techmarine/Forgemaster Rank 7

Guess that means I don't need that Narthecium supply anymore?

As a squad we may want to look at the Heroic Legacies in The Emperor's Chosen. No class goals. Post to follow.

Yea, good call, I did read through that book and offers some fresh stuff for high level games. Having that equipment Varryl is still good for backup and splitting up. Not to mention your deed difficulties.

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

Must search, but it looks that I miss that one. (chosen of the emperor)
@Pyris: Thanks for giving me something flavorful to do while en route xD

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

I don't have that one. What do Heroic Legacies do?

Love the roleplay guys, you know I reward such efforts.

Heroic legacies are more one shot scenario things of past stories I believe, but have elements that we could incorporate, but for now I've got enough for you all. Future possibilities, I'll lay them out when the time is right.

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

I read a review about it in the train today.
Heroic legacies are bought by the complete team, unlock an oath. If that oath is taken the team has access to some new mechanic, somewhat akin to squad mode with each of us filling different 'slots' which gives different boni to some stats. Each round the assignment marine<->slot can be changed.
It sounded somewhat complicated but might be rewarding with even more dynamics infight.

That's what I read between the lines of the review.

Exactly what it offers too

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Yeah it does add an extra level of complication, but some interesting boni and tactics. That is where my armour comes from, there are also some other interesting items of wargear, but most link back into affecting the legacies. some cool story/character/npc ideas as well.

That last post took bloody forever posting on my phone, but I think it was worth it. For those involved in the armour part, it felt right that now he has fought alongside you all, he would begin to reveal his quest (Plus it gives me a kick up the arse to sort out my backstory!). Sorry Ulrich and Vartas, you may have got a little shortchanged, but by the time I got to yours I was worn out!

I am going away from tomorrow, coming back Wednesday, so I won't be able to post until then.

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Could someone confirm how much XP we should have as a total?
I have a error on my character sheet, so want to double check.
I have it for Pyros as
1000xp just gained
650xp I have stored
And here is the discrepancy
Either 40,550 or 40,350 already spent (including starting 12,000)
For a total of either: 42,200 or 42,000. I am assuming the former, but just checking.
Either way (assuming I have it) I will spend 1000xp on WS intermediate advance and 500 on Toughness simple advance.

I am at a total of 42k flat atm.

Great post Pyros, it is setting you on the right path and giving me and others lots to work with.

Gonna try to get the update in the afternoon my time, finished up my OW pc and got soul reaver started.

Wow, that post got longer than expected. Well I am a kind of priest after all, they are meant to talk to you until your head spins.

Maybe the first part delved a bit to deep into the horus heresy fluff, but I thought it really fitting, so just got along with the idea. It stays in the family anyway, doesn't it?^^

Hey guys, give me a few days, just got a lot of cooking stuff this week, big testing tomorrow night for a new menu I'm developing. I'll hopefully update within 48 hours. Apologies for the delay.

Awesome resolution of our roleplay part Bayou!
You just made that part even more awesome :-)

I forgot a roll for Pyros too. Was in a hurry between a canceled class.

Intelligence or fellowship Pyros, your choice.
1d5 ⇒ 3

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Cool loving it. I think I will take the Int, I think Pyros will have learnt a lot from fixing Lori. On the fellowship side, I think he has had mixed success. I will get a gameplay post up tomorrow, as only just got back.

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

Just to recheck before putting up a long but in the end false fluff post about the pimp-my-hammer part.
We agreed on master-crafted, sanctified with some occult mean to remove unwieldy - am I right Snowman?
What does Pyros orders exactly? I think he also wished for the removal of unwieldiness. Does he get also Hero Wargear or the lower tear?

I had the idea that our hammers getting twin-crafted - something alike to Glamdring and Orcrist in Lord of the Rings / Hobbit if you know what I mean.
Maybe incorporating some finger bones or the like of a saint making them 'The Right Fist' and 'The left Fist' of 'St. Tyrsus, Banisher of Demons'.
Another way - going with chapter fluff - would be to incorporate some holy artifact from the respective chapter. Maybe a Blood Angel Priest offers some droplets out of his Sanguinary Chalice to the artificers to incorporate into the hammer and the Salamanders sent over a load of Mount Deathfire Magma in Stasis to incorporate.
Maybe both for good measure?^^

Waiting for replies from both of you (Snowman&Pyrus) before going on with that part, will stay with the meeting for now.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

This game continues to reach new heights of awesome! I really appreciate the effort everyone is putting in to making it really cool, especially our noble GM.

Bayou, I'm thankful for the opportunity to take the Keeper specialisation. I'll try and add stuff to my profile once I find my books (we just moved house so they're in a box in my games room somewhere). I am, however, nearly 2000xp short - are you waiving the XP cost or will I need to pay it off with future XP awards?

Yes, that's what we agreed on, hero gear and all of believe, need Pyros to confirm.. Could be making something new or something that already exists, just depends on you. I know something like that could take a while to procure and forge... Everyone's stuff could take a while to be done realistically, we can just jump to when it's done and be vague on the time issues. I'm flexible. Gonna play it how you all decide without holding everyone else up. Don't want to split the squad or run stuff on the side, though if people are wanting a solid time frame, then we could say some brothers did another mission while others remain at the fortress, but it would not be RolePlayed. Though I could award something other than xp if others have time while others are training or forging.

Paid off with future xp. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Everyone is doing great things and I'm lucky to have such a dedicated group for so long.

So I'm currently at -400xp. This is really something you don't get to see often playing RPGs xD
Thanks for your flexibility Snowman, really appreciate it.

I am looking forward to our new keeper - I could never really imagine what one is really doing as keeper ... will be fun to see what you make out of it Lucian.
Also my new priest college: So much to talk and debate about ;-)

As for IC time ... yeah I think every one of us needs some time for what they are doing:
- Pyrus and me will have to wait quite some time for our faviorite weapons to be reforged (well we could be assigned despite it and maybe will - but nothing big)
- Lucian most likely will be taken out of sight for keeper training and stuffing full of secrets as far as I can tell
- Tyreon seems to be busy drugging himself (*harhar*) and trying hard to remember who he actually was / is
- Ulrich will be talked into and then introduced to wolf priest duties
- Varryl will get fused with a magos consciousness - which certainly means a lot of operation and accustoming
- Xing ... is really the only one atm without something long term to do

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Hey, awesome, super hammer! So I was less worried about the sanctified part as long as with my Salamander ability I can use it to swift attack (but obviously I wouldn't say no!) My Artificier talent gets it to exceptional, so making it master-crafted would be awesome. I like the idea of some how them being connected, although I think the second idea is better as I see Pyros doing a lot of the work on his hammer himself (and Deleos'as well if Deleos is happy with that and time would allow). Pyros has been wearing a Salamander's mantle made of the skin of a fire drake, perhaps he could give some of it to form the grip for Deleos's hammer.
Also in addition to all the previous comments, this game is brilliant, love it.

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Sorry reread the post involving the forgemaster, perhaps Pyros could work on his with the forgemaster, whilst the forgemaster completes Deleos'.

Hey guys, sorry I've been away this past week, my little side cooking gig turned into a full blown resturant and I've been pouring every spare moment into that, much to the neglect of my family and gaming. Been testing and getting the menu together, as I'm just taking over the kitchen of an established business, so it's not as much work as beginning from scratch, but still lots of work. I haven't had any office hours, which is where I usually update things, but I've got some time now and gonna update the best I can. It might be slow right now, but I'm still here. Just be patient with me during this month while I'm testing the menu and training cooks.

Glad you're enjoying the game, things will take a little while to do for each of you, don't know what Xing will do, but I'll leave that up to him.

Anything anyone needs in particular, you might need to remind me, gonna update IC, but if I misssed something here or by PM that I can't remember, just remind me.

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Good luck, it sounds like one hell of a challenge, but I hope it goes really well.

I will get a big gamepost up probably tmrw, so I can try and do Deleos' storytelling justice.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

Not a problem, sounds like you're juggling some important IRL stuff so it's OK with me that the game slows down a little.

Apologies for my lack of post about my Keeper initiation so far. I've just moved house so I need to find the right book to be able to make a post worthy of the situation. I'll try and get to it ASAP.

Give me one more week please, and then things should be a little more normal for me, soft opening next week, and catering every weekend this month, Christmas dinner, testing, etc...Just bear with me and I promise I'll be returning.

During this time, feel free to roleplay your alt ranks and continue with any projects you have. When I return fully, I'd like to move forward and jump ahead to where we'll be departing. You all can keep in mind that with Hero renown you'll be able have lots of options for requisition. The next requisition total will be atleast 100, still doing some math on it. You'll be boarding a ship and flying off to your mission to meet Inquisitor Ramseus, as was explained in the briefing. More to follow, I'm still here, hope we don't lose anyone.

Taking the invite to work on Omega vault stuff, nothing else to do, I might spend some xp, but still thinking on it. Really love the effort and story thats being done here, keep it up!!

Copy that Xing, just updating the other game some of you are in, finished. I'll get here next, anything else people need/want to do, need to wrap that up sooner than later, as in a few posts we'll be jumping ahead to our next meeting/briefing.

Sounds fine to me.
Deleos will try to spend some additional time with Xing and Tyreon so to better understand their chapters and be a better Chaplain for them.
Beside that ... Business as usual

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

Hi guys, a little heads up and advertisement in my own case …
I just put up a recruitment thread for an Only War game which is a tribute game to the (in-)famous 'The All Guardsmen Party'. This ongoing story by a genius (borderline madman) features a few brutally lethal meat grinder campaigns with your regiment and eventually evolves into a dark heresy game were all players are guardsmen. Sounds boring? Not with the story this guy came up with!
Just have a look for yourself!
Welcome to the Guard!

Male Salamander Astartes Tactical marine 4, Dead Station Vigilant 1, 1st Company vet 1

Looks really good, good luck with it. I think, unfortunately I am struggling to keep up with my current games and 1 more will definitely be too many. Sounds like a really good adventure and I will probably follow it. Hope all goes well.

Thanks Deleos, I just dropped some rolls in there.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

Thanks for the heads-up Deleos, but like Pyros I'm just about managing the three games I'm currently in (and it would be much easier to manage this one if I could find my Deathwatch books post-house move!).

Space Wolves Grey Hunter (Tactical Marine 7)

Happy Holidays to you all!

Happy Holidays to you all!

@Vartas, if you don't find your books and need something particular, I can cut/paste it and send to you by PM.

Updated, gonna give you a chance to discuss building a ship, which is always fun, or leave it to me. You can suggest and make a wish list of components for each other to consider or for me. Up to you. If you'd rather not, then I'll lay out a ship for you all, maybe a few choices, and we'll move forward from there. If an when we encounter ship combat, then it can be played out with RT rules or glossed over with roleplay and fewer rolls, up to how you all are feeling about bringing this aspect into our DW game. I don't intend it to be a large portion of gameplay, but the option will be there depending on your actions. My intent was for this to be a "newly" commissioned ship of sorts, one that's state of the art and among the finest the DW and the Imperium have to offer, so I'd love the input.

Things are easing up on my end and some more regular time should be returning. Soon will be Chinese new years holiday and I'll be off for a few weeks and have plenty of time for posting and updating.

PS: I want this sorted before i post the mission details. I don't want a ship built just for the next mission, want you all thinking in more general terms of Combat and Diplomacy, something that can be used for a wide range of activities. But of course, deadly and armored.

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

Wow, nice!
Ehm, I am currently a bit busy with silvester preparations, but we definetly want a teleportarium!
Anything else I have to look up.

Blood Angels Assault Marine (6), Chaplain (1) [Wounds 23/23, TB 10, Armor 11/9/8, FP 5/5, Movement:7| 14| 21 | 42 (x2), WS:75| BS:35| ST:60+20(14)| TO:60(12)| AG:60| INT:40| PER:40+20| WP:50| FEL:42]

Well two ways I can see:
- a rather quick strike cruiser, with amazing engines (Archo-Tech maybe?), good armor, hard-hitting - maybe bombardment cannon - broadsides and some boarding crafts for hard-hitting, lightning fast insertion and back-off tactics. Of course this one also wants a teleporter as well for those hot-insertions that are REALLY hot and boarding torpedos/crafts would be plain suicide...

- or a real battleship-class leviathan, equipped with anything we can think of, able to single-handedly raze complete solar systems

Anyway, I think we all might want one "personal" component, so a med-bay for Tyboris, a forge complex (Munitorum+Manufactorum) for Pyros and Varryl, Vartas got the bridge, Xing might want a Librarium and Hammern and myself may occupy the a big-ass shrine.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

I really like the RT ship building and ship combat rules, although I'll have to read up on them. Are we OK to look at stuff from Battlefleet Koronus?

I'd see a new Deathwatch ship as a frigate or strike cruiser sized vessel, filled with awesome tech and an elite crew.

I've found my books, and now that Christmas is over I'll try and get a post up tonight about Lucian's induction as a Keeper. Apologies for the delay, things have just been a bit manic recently.

Space Wolves Grey Hunter (Tactical Marine 7)

I would say a large strike cruiser, very fast and very tough. I will have more input after I brush up on my RT.
