Data will improve Laboni's Junkracers computers: 7 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 + (12) = 19
then investigate the enemy engineering: 7 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 + (12) = 19

There are 4 items on the list exactly, but I'm not cut out for diplomacy or stealth or other skills. Can we do an item multiple times?
If so Data tries these items 1 more time each

engineering: 7 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 + (17) = 24
Osuro |
Hey, I've been at work!
The thin Lashunta moves out into the pit area, moving amongst the teams, listening for any indication of rivalries and struggling to remember whether he already knows of any.
Culture to recall Pod Racing politics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
He'll still chat up a couple of teams, trying to learn more about their plans . . .. Focusing on teams he doesn't remember anything about, just in case . . ..
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (5) = 14 Call it Team 1
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (17) + 4 + (3) = 24 Call it Team 2
Isho Ishi. |
I should be at 2/4 from my last post with 25, 25 in Engineering and then Computers.
Having quickly scanned the quality of the junkracers sitting in the pit, Isho had a feeling Labani really did need help. Her little racer wasn't the worst one, but it certainly wasn't the best either.
Narrowing his eyes from behind his white mask, Isho cocked his head as he glared across the pit at the ysoki who called himself 'Ratrod.' What a putz. What an embarrasment.
Ratrod. Pah, he thought.
Cracking his knuckles, Isho spit out his custom tablet rig and looked around for a datajack on the racer to plug in and get to work on some fine tuning of the unfortunate piece of machinery.
Computers 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
"Ah, alright, I think that's all I can do for now," Isho finally said as he unplugged his tablet and swung down from the roof of the racer. "Labani, you should really consider what happens when you put your foot so far into your own mouth that you need help pulling it back out."
With a sigh Isho tugged on the front of his painted-white leather jacket and looked around before darting underneath the next nearest racer. It was time for some real investigating.
Engineering 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
GM Amsheagar |
Hey, I've been at work!
No worry man. We all have work, it's more important.
For the first task... I missed some. Sorry. Checks are as followed. computers, Engineering, Perception, or Physical Science check to find parts in the scrapyard and install them in Laboni’s racer... So If any of you want to change your actions, please feel free to do so.
Once all are done, (or 24 hours have passed) I'll post the ship and the next part.
Osuro |
Working to avoid any positive relationships he either remembers or can see through interactions, Osuro approaches a few more teams and chats idly before going for a kill. Going to another team, he looks for the driver. "Excuse me, but are you familiar with the team in the green jackets? I couldn't help but overhear their pilot thinking so loudly about which parts of your vessel he should target in order to disable you the most explosively." Inserting rumors directly into someone else's mind does make it much harder for a third party to know that you've done so.
He will then do the same thing to a different pilot, noting the team with red jackets.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
And that makes 4 actions.

Nalun Farksser |
Nalun continues to do a little proselytizing among the various groups.
Greetings Sentient Beings. Everything that has happened before, will happen again. Might I speak with you for a moment about the Cycle.
Diplomacy 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Ah, interesting. The race itself is but a metaphor for the Cycle. All things eventually return to that end which was once a beginning.
Diplomacy 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
That is very curious. Why would someone seek to cause harm to another during a race? Since we all return to the Stars when we leave these bodies, hastening the process seems...wasteful.
Diplomacy 3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
GM Amsheagar |
Nalun Diplomacy: 13/15/25/9 2 successful, 2 failed
Joker Sabotage: 30/20 1 successful, 1 failed. Didn't get caught Improve: 25 Spy: 15 succeeded by 1.... +1 for making me laugh.

Pick 6 of these
• The vehicle’s base speed increases by 5 feet.
• The vehicle gains a +1 Piloting modifier.

Does that mean that Diplomacy people pick a Racer they want to know more about? If thats the case, then I'd like to know more about Ratrod please
Joker Jones |
Oh, aw, sorry, I just realised you turned that 14 into a 15, lol (don't know how I failed that DC 20 stealth, but anyways, one for the other). Thank you. I'll go with the one no one picked, Velocity.
Isho Ishi. |
Isho directed the additions, upgrading the engines and steering systems as best he could (2x Speed upgrades, 2x Piloting upgrades) and then scavenging some extra plating from a surprisingly intact Eoxian re-dead cyborg battle beast... thing... (1x KAC upgrade, 1x EAC upgrade).
Z Data Z |
Z Data Z approves of this. I'm assuming 6 upgrades amongst the three of us, not 6 upgrades person character
editoh yeah, I did get 2 right on investigation. Sleek and Ratrod
GM Amsheagar |
As you approach him, you see that he is talking to the crowd of people around the racing pit. adoring his fans. "My ship, She's a beauty isn't she." he says to you as you approach. Please feel free to respond to him.
You know that they are both fast racers.
Ratrod is twice as good at driving his racer than Nyizin. In fact, you think that Ratrod and Joker look just as comfortable behind that wheel.
From the looks of both Racers, they are far quicker than your racer as it originally stands. You don't know what upgrades are added onto there to make it faster.
One Upgrade per success. So Isho can choose 3, Data Z can choose 2 and Joker can choose 1.
Proposed Additions.
Speed +10 feet
Piloting +2
+2 bonus to its EAC.
+2 bonus to its KAC.
While working with Laboni, she looks around at your group. "So, which one of you are going to pilot this thing for me?
Isho Ishi. |
Isho, finally taking a moment to relax after scraping undead rotting flesh off of hull plating to affix the final piece to the rear bumper, looks at Laboni and the rest of the group slightly stunned at her question.
GM Amsheagar |
Seeing Ishos' reaction, Laboni speaks up. "Didn't Radaszam tell you. We need a pilot and crew for this Racer. I'm only a mechanic."
Prior to the start of the race, the vehicles set up at the starting line, and they take off when given the signal.
Each turn of the race includes two phases: First, all the competitors fire their weapons at their chosen targets. Second, all the pilots attempt Piloting checks to determine their positions in the race. Any number of players can each control a single weapon during the firing phase, whereas only one player can act during the piloting phase. If any PCs have nothing to do, the GM can allow them to take control of any racer with whom they have made an alliance, using that racer’s statistics. Actions during each of the race phases occur simultaneously, so there is no need to determine an order or initiative.
Joker Jones |
When Isho give his advice, Joker nods. "Sounds good to me." As for Laboni's claim, he just rolls his eyes.
"I'm not a bad pilot, and I can also shoot. As a secondary, I could give support at the engineering bay or with the board computers. I'll leave it up to you, guys."
Pilot +9, Engineering & Computers +6
Nalun Farksser |
Nalun responds to Ratrod Oh. Indeed Master Ratrod a thing of beauty. I wonder though, is that the only thing special about your team? Or is there some trick you have up your sleeve?
Z Data Z |
I'm not cut out for pilot, and it can only hold one passenger, so I don't think I'll be in it. Although if you want me in the passenger seat, I do have overheat and can burn anything within 15 foot cube.
GM Amsheagar |
Raising an eyebrow at Nalun "What do you mean by that? I have nothing that helps with my victories."
Nalun's sense motive: 1d20 ⇒ 13
You can tell that he is somewhat irritated by you questioning his legitimacy to races. You may be able to do something with this information. Possibly brag/threaten that you can easily beat him. wink
If everyone is okay with the proposed changes, We'll move on then. I'll be controlling Phase 1 from the NPC's area. From those who don't have a Racer to control for Phase 2, do you want one? You'll be receiving the information for the current opponents' racers.
Nalun Farksser |
Nothing at all? Interesting. I have heard rumor that most of your power comes from...a tad bit of "hot air" as it were. Nalun says with a small smile on his face.
Osuro |
So, Joker pilots. The basic junkracer shows only "energy weapon"/ How many weapons are there, since the rules talk about having multiple people firing during the weapons phase?
Who do we want to have firing, team?
Osuro |
I was responding to this comment from "The Race" spoiler:
Any number of players can each control a single weapon during the firing phase, whereas only one player can act during the piloting phase.
But the description had me thinking there was only weapon. That's why I was asking.
Z Data Z |
Z Data z will get in as a passenger, unless someone objects. I guess I can overheat vehicles next to me or use my ranged magic while someone remote controls the vehicles weapons.
GM Amsheagar |
Looking at the game mechanics once more. There is only one weapon on the ship. It can be fired once per turn. I'd advise the person with the highest Range Attack bonus to be in the passenger seat since the combat can only take place with the weapon on the ship... I have to control RatRod, so please pick a racer to control for the most part, if you're not in Laboni's Racer.
Joker Jones |
"Alright..." Joker grabs the helmet and tightens his jacket. It's been a while since he last piloted, but that's something you never forget, or so he hopes. "So, guys, let's do this" he says lifting his hand to do a communal high five.
GM Amsheagar |
Nalun, give me one last line of dialog and an intimidation check. Also, last chance, Is there anyone else you would like to talk and try to get their help in the race?
Here are your targets. If your weapon is Energy, you aim for the EAC. If your weapon is Kinetic, you aim for the KAC. On the first round, you'll roll a D6 to determine who you attack. If you roll yourself, re-roll. Round 2, you can attack the nearest foe, if there are 2 or more, roll a D# to determine who you attack, unless one of them attacked you last round, you can attack them if you would like. If a racer is more than 3 behind you, you can't attack them. Unless you're in front... or it fits another condition.
Target #1 Laboni's Junkracer
Target #2 RatRod's Junkracer
Target #3 Lemgem's Junkracer
Target #4 Nyizin's Junkracer
Target #5 Velocity's Junkracer
Target #6 Orsis's Junkracer

Isho Ishi. |
Velocity revved the engine on his racer, grinning at the throaty, heavy roar of the engines as they revved. Velocity gripped the twinned joysticks he used for steering and, his preferred passtime, aiming his guns.
People always thought Velocity meant he liked to go fast, but they were wrong. Oh, were they wrong.
Are we starting the race now? If so, turn 1 rolls below
Piloting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 to blast out of the starting area.
Weapon 1: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (3) - 3 = 0 at target 1: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Weapon 2: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (20) - 3 = 17 at target 2: 1d6 ⇒ 6
GM Amsheagar |
We are starting. If Nalun decides to talk to the right person before he does his first race round, I'll let those who need to know about something, know about it. Also, please indicate which weapon type you use. Isho used a K.Attack. (K.Attack or E.Attack.) Also, his racer has two attacks.
Trumpets start to blare as the racer reach their starting lines. The crowd is ready for some excitement. Right from the start, they can tell there is going to be some worthwhile action.
Round 1
You guys
Me
After you guys go. I'll see if the attacks have hit. If they have, they will affect your piloting check.
Piloting DC
16+ You go your Full Speed.
6-16 You go at Half Speed.
Below 6 You go Nowhere Fast.
Osuro |
Nyizin adjusted her engines, preparing to tweak them for her attempt to pull away from the pack after the first few lengths are covered.
Isho? You didn't add Velocity's Ranged Attack Bonus to the attack rolls. Also, IIRC, there is a -4 penalty to every attack in order to attack twice in one round.
My book's not handy, but I know in the ship rules a character can only do one thing per turn. Can each of us do everything every round, or do we have to choose between piloting (anything other than straight at last speed), firing, or using specials? Or are we assumed to have a multiple person crew so that we're all really doing only one thing even if fully utilizing the racers? Yeah, I know. Too many questions. I'm just trying to understand.
Piloting: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 4 = 15
Target: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Energy Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 3 = 20
GM Amsheagar |
Going by what the scenario says. There are two phases. Phase 1 attack, phase 2 piloting. So you should be doing both. Isho, he's right. Good spot Osuro.
I'll calculate any negative mods to your piloting check to see how far you've progressed. Will update it on the round tracker once the first round is over.
Joker Jones |
In our case, though, I guess I do the piloting rolls and Data does the gunning.
When the signal is given, Joker accelerates as much as he can. "You can do things wrong and fast, or right and slow. But you can also do things fast and fast!"
Piloting: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 4 = 25
Nalun Farksser |
Nalun replies to the Ysoki I believe you will find she has a new pilot. One with much skill.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
***********************************
Orsis guns the junkracer Piloting: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 - 4 = 14 he also sets the computer to target 1d6 ⇒ 5 Velocity and a streak of laser light heads towards her racer Laser!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Orsis
Skills Piloting +6; Ranged Attack Bonus +6; Special Orsis gains a +4 bonus to his vehicle’s EAC and KAC.
WELL-ARMED JUNKRACER
Speed 50 ft., full 500 ft.
EAC 10; KAC 12
Attack energy weapon (–4 to Piloting), kinetic weapon (–6 to Piloting)
Modifiers +2 Piloting, –3 attack

Update soon.
