Garland raises his glass to the toast happily, grateful to be in better company. He had felt a sense of appreciation from some of the crew members throughout the ship, and it was nice to be appreciated every now and then in a job where it's better no one knows you did anything.

After the group as returned to their ship, Kov'i will say "It seems that the Collective has a supreme dislike of Astral Collections that is not necessarily returned, not that I can't understand why, mind you. This is going to be a difficult negotiation, which I'm happy to say we will not have to do."


If everyone is ready to leave for the Acreon we can begin the journey into the quarantine zone.

Scera listened intently to everything even while she enjoyed the food. It seemed to her that this business practice the man had used was dubiously ethical at best, a lie at worst, and there seemed to be something off. Whatever the niggling thing was slipped through her grasp as she tried some brown wobbly substance in a crust with white foam on top and nearly swooned in ecstasy completely forgetting about what bothered her. When Otal dismissed them Scera rose and gave him a smile as she said, :Thank you for the food, it was delicious." Then turned and left when the others headed for the door.

Zetara returns to the ship and crashes into her bunk, needing to sleep and also renew her spells before they face yet another challenge.

Duanimon returns to the Hippocampus with everyone else. ”I wonder what exactly it is that seems so valuable to everyone...” they muse on the way back. Once on the ship, they prepare for the coming expedition by running mental combat simulations against Entos.

"I'm sure we'll find our answers on the Acreon." Garland kneels down next to the observation droid when back on the ship, inspecting it closely with interest and to see if there is anything particularly suspicious about it.

From the pilot seat Ehron adds. "I agree, there is more to be found. The Collective may be more sympathetic, but if we are to earn our wage we must fulfill our side."

He spends time getting plots to the Acreon looking to see if it is in local space or if a Drift hop is needed.

After you all rest, you collect the robot with the recording device and look to map out a route to the quarantine zone. It is right here in the Armada, though a way from the rest of the ships and miles from the station itself.

As you are approaching the Acreon you can see the drift rock being hauled behind it with large cables of energy. It and the ship are floating lifeless in space.

Suddenly a couple of laser shots are fired over the nose of the Hippocampus. A small fighter is firing on you!

The fighter is 6 hexes behind you.

Pilot Skill for fighter: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Roll Pilot Skill to determine who moves first. Decide among you who will play which role in this encounter - Pilot, Captain, Science Officer, Gunner

Duanimon runs to a communications console and switches on the radio’s emergency frequency. ”Absalom Station security, this is the shuttle Hippocampus, currently in the employ of the Eoxian ambassador and located near the quarantined ship Acreon in the Armada. We are under attack by an unidentified fighter craft. Please send assistance immediately.”

Kov'i is a gunner. Do we have the stats for our ship? Also, would you like me to give you a primer on starship combat? It works differently than regular combat.

I don’t think so, though we can have more than one of any role except for pilot and captain. Also, our ship’s stats are in the rulebook. It’s a Ringworks Wanderer.

We can have multiple science officers btw, and normally multiple gunners (this ship has only one gun).

Hearing the comms engaged Ehron concentrates his attention on the the enemy ship and maneuvering into a good spot. "This little ship is very fast and agile, hopefully we can zip around and control the fight. Its going to be a battle of who can anticipate the other better." he says while implementing a flight plan, long fingers dancing across the controls.

Duanimon sets their distress signal to continue broadcasting on repeat, then settles into the science officer’s chair. They boot up the Hippocampus’ active sensors and begin scanning the fighter attacking the shuttle.

Ehron grins as the ship moves in behind them, tipping its hand a bit too soon. Slipping away to the left he circles around behind it calling upon the incredible agility of the small shuttle. In moments the rear of the aggressor was now in front of their own ship. "So are we firing or giving them merely a scare?" he asks over to Kov'i while paying attention ahead on the ship.

We could've done an engineering roll here too for diverting power to engines or weapons etc. Also if you use Google slides for maps for this I have a slide I could paste up for people to use as ship positions that I have used before.


Ehron is right you guys get an engineering roll, my one man ship doesn't. If you don't have a role there is also little things you can do too like snap shot.

Kov'i looks to the captain's chain for the answer to that question, saying "I would prefer to fire a warning shot, but that is just me. Make a decision Garland, and I will abide by it."

Kov'i then turns and begins aiming the guns in the direction of the ship.

I will either attack them or fire a warning shot depending on what the man in the captain's chair says. Here's my gunnery check either way:

Attack Roll for Coilgun: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2) = 7

As the distress signal continues to broadcast, they attempt to open a com channel with the fighter. ”Unidentified fighter, this is the shuttle Hippocampus, currently on a diplomatic mission for the Eoxian ambassador. Stop firing on us and state your identity and intentions or we will be forced to destroy you.”

Does Duanimon’s scan reveal anything about the the enemy ship?
