"Blibbity blobbity bloobity--Heehee! Blooobity! Blooobity blooobity bloobity! Heeheehee! ... Oh, my! Have I been babbling? I do believe I've been babbling! Heehee!" Mrs. Crinkle giggles at herself, but stops abruptly as the Carnelian Signet cuts down Eltis. "Oh, now dearie, that's not nice!" She hops over to the flaming ball of violence and raps her knuckles on the Signet's noggin. "Enough of that!" Her voice is still cheery on the surface, but there's a hard edge that creeps through.

The Carnelian Signet spotlights her enemy, the pernicious kobold caster, and moves to put him down. She does so in a single blow, dropping him to the floor before turning her attention to the next evildoer lurking in the darkness.
Eltis sees the Terror that Burns in Plain Sight just as she smacks him. As he lays upon the floor, his fevered dreams clear in a wash of healing magic from Adelmare.

Seeing weary faces all around her, Zarta Dralneen unlocks a secure portion of her messenger bag and produces a small hourglass filled with orichalcum and dawnsilver particles. She winks. “I had a hunch you’d turn to me for a bit of refreshment.” With a flick of her finger, the hourglass begins to spin in its rune-engraved frame, seeming to rewind some elements of time for the assembled agents.

As Zarta’s hourglass comes to a stop, Eando Kline approaches your team. He tells you to take a 10-minute break, but then he needs you to handle an important matter for him. He indicates a building tucked away in a corner, far from the rest of the action. “Our scouts saw some undead retreating that way. Get in there and press the advantage we’ve got going here. Let’s keep the enemy on their heels so they don’t get any time to recover!”
This building, an abandoned candy shop, is made of wood and has thin paper-covered windows, preventing anyone from seeing in or out. However, they are also so thin that you’re certain you could just barge right through a door or window if you wanted to.
You have the benefit of a 10-minute rest to heal up.
You can assemble in whatever formation you’d like outside the doors or windows and can present a short narrative for how you barge or sneak inside. Each character may choose to use their choice of skills for initiative in the upcoming encounter based on this story. Characters breaking down doors should be able to use skills like Athletics, Intimidation, Warfare Lore, etc., stealthy PCs can use Deception, Stealth, Thievery, etc.
Please place yourselves in the Red Box on this slide, describe what you’d like to do for Initiative, and then go ahead and roll your own Initiative.

The leader casts a nefarious spell, and The Carnelian Signet's vision dims as smoke fills her eyes. She comes to a rest as her rage gives way.
"What? You rescued me?" She pants. "Thank you, I was ambushed by a group of Infernal creatures. I cut their leader down only for a quadruped to heal him. And then an aquatic devil held me in place while the cursed wolf tried to trick me."
"Why is everyone looking at me like that?"
As the truth becomes clear, The Carnelian Signet gets on her knees and bows to Eltis. "Please accept my apologies, Eltis. I thought... Sortoz's magic was too strong for me."
Once the team recovers, Eando Kline gives the Carnelian Signet an excuse to vent out her frustration. "With pleasure."

With their whole operation crumbling around them, Sotroz and Rowan the Whispering appear to be consolidating their remaining forces in the sanctum where their magical experiments were taking place. **HOUSE GM ANNOUNCEMENT**
Inside the domed inner sanctum is a complex ritual space, with stonework rising out of thick mud. Along one side of the space stands an arcane abomination of an aiudara cobbled together from pieces of others and Nexian technomagical know-how. Zarta Dralneen coordinates splitting up Pathfinder teams to encircle the area as the Red Mantis Dispatch’s two leaders, a ghoul arcanist and an aiuvarin assassin, gather their bodyguards and prepare to make their last stand.
The final confrontation has begun.
GM Nomadical
|
Zarta specifically dispatches your team into the inner sanctum via the same long hallway of mirrors where a certain red-headed someone went postal on her teammates (but we won’t mention that again too many more times.) ”It’s therapy for all of you,” she says in understanding. ”And it happens to be the most direct route in. You may end up being one of the first teams to get inside in that case, so do your best against whatever threat you find yourselves up against. Now then, move along,” she finishes in dismissal as she turns to an even more junior team to give them their assignment.
The mirrors no longer mock you, and no magical effect tries to twist your minds. Shortly beyond the spot where Eltis went down, you emerge into the Inner Sanctum of the Red Mantis Dispatch. To the north stand a ghoul and a Mantis Disciple while to the west you spot two more ghouls. Just beyond, within a magical engraving encircled by mirrored globes stands the enigmatic Rowan the Whispering. A quick glance around the space reveals several more matching mirrored globes. Between yourselves and Rowan is a small cage with a piglet inside, and up to the north is another cage with a small wolf puppy.
Seeing the crimson-clad Rowan the Whispering and her last acolytes surrounding her, Giovana allows herself a predatory smile. “Not so much a predator now, are we? This is it, Pathfinders—time to prove if you’re really worth all the praise that Eando’s given me in private. Turn that false mantis Rowan into a blood stain on the rocks, and all will be right with the world for at least a few minutes, hm?”
Viore pales for a moment, Then suddenly blurts out, “Please... try to take her in alive, though... she’s my daughter.” He looks down as Giovana tilts her head in surprise. The aiuvarin venture-captain continues under his breath, “that’s how she got access to Kyonin’s aiudara in the first place, because of me... and I want to bring her to justice.” He looks back up. “I’ll understand if it’s not possible, but please?” At this point, Giovana just rolls her eyes and motions ahead, where the Dispatch forces are already drawing weapons and moving to attack.
The sanctum consists of several stone platforms lined with arcane foci and esoterica for various magical experiments. Between the stone platforms is thick mud that acts as greater difficult terrain, but can be traversed or jumped over, and does not block line of sight or line of effect. (Any black area that might appear to be a wall is this thick mud.)
Little Piggy and Wolf Puppy are in wooden “bonded cages” engraved with arcane runes. The creatures are tiny size, but the cages are big. The gray-ish circles are mirrored globes. The mirrored globes do not take up their whole 5x5 space, but making them smaller made them too hard to see. You can occupy a space with a globe. The ceiling is 40 feet in height and the area has normal light. Using an Action to Recall Knowledge with any of the four Magical Tradition skills about the “bonded cages” OR the mirrored globes would reveal their significance.

Adelmare stares intently at the cage with the wolf puppy in it and immediately recognizes the nature of the magical glyphs. These cages are draining the life of the creatures within to power Sotroz’s mystical abilities. Rowan doesn’t appear to have any connection to the cages, though.
The high-tier tables are fighting Sotroz, and the low-tier tables fight Rowan, both using the same map and set-up. Freeing the animals ONLY has an impact IF you are playing at a high-tier table. The caged animals have absolutely no mechanical effect on your fight. And no, even if you free them, it does not affect the fights being conducted by the other tables. You are, of course, free to use your actions to release them anyway should you so choose.
You can also take one action to identify the magic involved with the mirrored globes using any of the Magical Tradition skills.

These Pathfinders have already experienced ghoul stench once or twice today and barely even notice it now. It certainly doesn’t break Eltis’ concentration as he considers the mirrored globes and how Rowan uses them. It seems that they interleave teleportaion and illusion magics allowing Rowan to translocate from one globe to another, leaving behind a temporary mirrored image of herself. The image is not just an illusion though since it can act as an ally of Rowan’s forces and actually has some health (non-zero hit points.).
Eltis is so impressed by the magic of the globes that he doesn’t really focus on aiming his crossbow, though.
Mrs Crinkle plays tummy tickle with a ghoul and gets a mouthful of ghoul guts as a reward. (Okay, everything about that sentence is just wrong.)
Zenari is less playful and just starts slicing into her opponent once, twice, three times, and dropping it!
@Zenari: I’m pretty sure that the final attack should have been at full MAP, but even accounting for that it hit. But going forward don’t forget that the Double Slice “counts as two attacks when calculating your multiple attack penalty.”

Adelmare focuses on his magic and sends a spray of needles that shred the Signet’s dance partner.
The only Dispatch member considers his options and goes for the Signet. She is kind of disrespecting the whole Red theme they’ve got going after all. (And she uses a real weapon, versus that shady guy throwing shadow chains who just scares the bejeezus outta him.) He steps in and tries to stab the Carnelian Signet before raising his cloak again.
Dagger, F2: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 2 = 13

Yeah, no, he’s not gonna hit her with weak moves like that.

The Disciple watches in awe as the Carnelian Signet spins on her heel. He’s so entranced by the fluidity of her movements that he can barely manage to interpose his cloak and try to snag her shiny sword with it.
Disarm vs Reflex DC, F1: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 1 - 1 = 14
The Signet shreds the ineffectual cloak and stabs him cleanly between the ribs twice in rapid succession.

The quiet man who likes his prey to be silent in their death strikes twice, but the Disciple easily dodges both attacks.
Granny Wolf’s ghoul snack doesn’t want to get eaten alive, in undeath, so eaten un-alive? Whatever. He knows his job is to provide a flank for the boss, and standing might get him schwacked by the Wolf or the Undine. So he stays prone and lashes out with tooth and claw. And in his desire to aid the boss, he switches targets to Zenari.

Rowan smiles in satisfaction as she watches her ghoul get a little nip of fishy-flavored-flesh. She shifts her gaze to the undine between them and the smile disappears.
Dagger, vs OG: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Damage, P: 2d4 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 + (6, 1) = 18

Damage, P: 2d4 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 + (1, 6) = 19
Her knife carves a gash in the Zenari’s flesh, and she then steps back with the knowledge that her ally isn’t like to survive to aid her again.
