Hey Fang,

Out of curiosity, how sandboxy/free form are you willing to allow us to go?

Obviously this is an adventure path, with set plot points, but would you be willing to let us pursue our own goals, even if they might not fit 100% into the AP?


I'm hoping for some opportunities to also chase side plots etc - some of which I've mooted before.

Nothing pressing at the moment as Das Horn is our focus, but would like to develop...

I've played through this AP before, right up to the Horn bit.

From what I remember, there's not a lot of opportunity for personal side questing built into the adventure. Most of the down time is travel between arcs.

There's a good place to do some downtime stuff coming up though. Without giving away too much, we should be getting a base of operations soon. There's an indeterminant amount of time between when we do that, and when the next big plot-point kicks off. That would be a good spot to pursue some personal goals.

Also, there's a few things in town that we haven't explored much. I didn't bring them up because they aren't things Xanos cares about, but they were kind of brushed by when we first got to town, so I'm guessing I might be the only one that remembers they're there.

For those of you that are more socially inclined, my hint is, go to the seedy bar. (Rose and Molsabar would probably know it's a good place for meeting likeminded unsavory types).

If you want to get a drink to kill time before sundown, that might be a good way of introducing that element of the game.

Edit: I suppose the natural next question would be, can a disembodied hand hold something and move with it at the same time? For example, if you want Xanos' Left Hand to use a wand, could it pinch it between a finger and thumb and 'run' on three fingers? Then roll onto its stump end to cast using the wand? Should we mark this as a FAQ for the developers?

Yea, I kinda figured, as most APs tend to be similar.

My question was more along the lines of 'Hey Fang, how cool are you with allowing us to chase personal plot, in addition to the stuff for the AP'.

I know many a GM that are all for that sort of player agency, even if the the AP itself normally wouldn't allow such, and of course the flip side where the GM is more or less by the book.

Cool item. Pretty difficult to get your hand on due to it's infernal nature and where you are. As for upgrading your circlet, you could ask the Cardinal the next time you see him.

There's some flexibility here. There are some time contraints on stuff, due to there being a war on, but it isn't super tight. Also, ignore the Cardinal's orders at your own risk, but I don't have a problem with people going 'off book'. So my answer is probably, but ultimately it depends on what you want to do. PbP is actually pretty great for personal goals, since it doesn't eat up table time, like it would in person.


Swag update - timely point as the vampanzer is dolling out coin to secure him and Sariana a travelling home (outlay of 5000GP + some flavour coin to "buy" our double agents some instant credit with the good Baron.

Old loot divvied up good and proper means Xanos, Haruk each have the following:

GP: 5794 (Albrέkt got 5704 and spent 180GP of that on 2 off the military medals we gained from Talingarde - he plans to use them in a side-plot hook... Hence Xanos and Haruk each gained an additional 90GP)
SP: 806
CP: 506

In the "party treasury" there's currently:

500 Platinum Pieces
Elixirs of Truth (2 off) –
Potions of Cure Light Wounds (5 off)

The potions are up for grabs to those that can use them. The PP will be useful for coin in a pinch (bribes, tributes, impulse purchases etc lol) and easier to carry around.

Going forward position of Quartermaster is open :) So if anyone else has a hankering feel free to be Loot Logger and Swagmaster General.

Xanos will carry any unclaimed Cure potions. They're handy for making Deathwine.

Disclaimer-

Xanos' view of things is rather egocentric. As a player, I try to be very careful not to make the story about me. I do my best to remove myself from scenes or take a back seat when I feel like I've had too much recent spotlight time.

If anyone feels like their character isn't getting enough screen time, please bring it up. I like seeing everyone else's stories unfold, so talk about what you want to see happen in discussion and the rest of us will help push in that direction.


Personally I think we need to make this whole story more Albrέktcentric ;F

I'm enjoying the story/character development exchange. And if I feel like Molasbar is being too neglected, I'll speak up and do something attention grabbing. Though in this crowd, that's a pretty high bar to hurdle. ;)

Rules question - if Rose wants to heal Molasbar with a touch spell, can she do so or do the mirror images cause a problem?


I think that if Molasbar where threatened, then yes, as he wouldn't want to give away which copy was him, but if he's not actively fighting then no. I'm sure he would indicate which copy was the real him.

I did do that correctly, didn't I? All of those factors +3 (Strength, two handed), +6 (Power Attack, two handed), +1 (weapon enhancement), +2 (Inspire Courage), +1 (Prayer) all multiple on a critical, right?

I guess I'm just a little surprised myself! :)

Hmm. Ok, let's see if this is feasible.

a light horse can drag 3450 pounds.

A huge creature is between 2 and 16 tons.

A treant should be on the lighter side of huge creatures. A 15' tall tree (5' diameter base, 3 foot diameter top) weighs about 12,000 pounds, which fits with the Huge creature weight estimate.

We have 6 light horses, chain and plenty of rope. This should work fine. We'll be like 1900s loggers. Considering I'm only wanting to move it to somewhere close to the Horn, as long as we don't hit a cravasse, I think this will work.

When I'm playing a scout, I hate it when the party decides to kick in the doors and start shouting while I'm in the middle of doing my job.

Sariana hasn't gotten much of a chance to act in the game yet, so let's let her do her thing.


Our bloodthirsty vamp usually endorses wholesale slaughter, however got to admit we should allow things to play out a little more before going all in :)

Sariana is a very effective scout and harbinger for the group. Even if discovered she's more than capable (blessed by the gift of undeath as she is)

I certainly don't have a problem with it. I think she is more durable than Molasbar, so she is a great candidate to do it.

Yes, but Sari dosent have disable device. Her preception is high enough that she doesnt need to worry abut most traps, bUT she needs a partner to help her deal wit locked doors.

Later when we are exploring more than just a cave, we will probably want you to go with her.

Yeah. It conjures an image for me. Molasbar crouches down so he's eye level with the lock he's going to pick. A moment later, a heavy, fly-infested boot thunders past his cheek, shattering the door open. At which point, Molasbar quietly stands and stows his pick kit. A single tear rolls down his cheek, mourning the tacit death of subtly.
