Xanos' Annotated Map

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for a couple of people to help fill out a Way of the Wicked campaign I'm running. We are near the start of book 2. Familiarity with the AP would be a plus, but is not required.

Current players include an antipaladin, a wizard and a sorcerer.

Starting level: 6
25pt buy
Races: Nothing weird
Alignment: LE prefered.
Classes: No Paladins or gunslingers. Other than that, anything goes. Summoners need to use unchained variant.
Hp: Max 1st, 1/2+1 HD all others.
Starting wealth: The PCs are pretty poor at the moment so 4K gp should put you at about where they are.

I don't need a background, but a brief character sketch would be nice. Everyone needs to somehow be affiliated with the church of Asmodeus.

Thanks for the interest, and let me know if you have any questions.

It sounds like a perfect game for a void kineticist.

Dotting! Love me some evil stuff.

Dotting!

Would you be opposed to another antipaladin? It's a pc I ran a fairly good time ago.

Je dot.

I will work something up, maybe a tiefling cleric that becomes a lich.

Do we get the common +2 skill points per level?

For races, does "nothing weird" mean core races or does it mean "No templates or monsters?"

Background skills?

I would like to put forward a red mantis assassin build =^^=

One of the threads of the developers suggested one can use the sawtooth saver as a finesse weapon for damage. But that's if GM allows it.

Hired and contracted by the church to help and aid the group in their endeavours, to slay the followers of Mitra and bring down their regime

dot, working on diabolist methinks. would i be allowed to start with the diabolist requirement if i subtract the gold cost of the scroll of lesser planar binding from my wealth? also how do you feel about pregame crafting?(specificaly wands)

I'm just ganna put this dot here and, I'll be back later!

Dot

Ok, so im gonna go for a peri-blooded aasimar wizard 5/diabolist 1 who fell from grace when their parents were executed for things they did not do. Still need answers to my previous questions however.

Dotting with a magical child

@Seth: would you be open to a mild collaboration? I've always wanted to play a Red Mantis too, but obviously I don't want to go into direct competition, especially since you got there first. If you'd be open to some sort of collaboration it could work though? Siblings, Mantis partners... the options are almost limitless!

for aasimar, can we roll on the variant abilites table?

Wanted to know about tiefling variant table too

@Nikolaus
I'm open to it =^^=

Thanks for the interest folks.

Javell DeLeon wrote:

Would prefer to not have Class overlap.

Philo Pharynx wrote:

Background skills?

+2 Skills is fine

Core races are preferred. Monsters on a case-by-case basis. Acquired templates are possible.

Tentatively yes, but with the right to reverse that decision at a later date.

Yes and yes, but please note that as I already have 2 arcane casters in the party, I probably won’t take a third. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but another arcane caster is a pretty low priority.

BeastMasterFTW wrote:

No variant assimar/teiflings please.

Hmm, maybe a tiefling cleric of asmodeus that becomes a "half-devil"?

Dotting. May submit a cleric/evangelist archer of Eiseth.

Can we do the Focus and Foible build?

Also dot. Started this campaign once but it fell through. Would love to play it again >:D

Planning on rewriting Wesh to be only a Summoner.
He is an Ifrit, so goes without saying that Arson was his crime.

Although upon reading the Arcane caster thing...

I will cook up a Ranger/Rogue as a Melee if that would be preferable.
Crime is murder (because Julian never lets a target live).

Half fiend template for future sounds very nice =^^=

I'll toss Price's hat in the ring. I'll set about tweaking her level, stats, background, etc... but you can get a good idea of her core build:
Inquisitor of Asmodeus, possibly going into Assassin. I plan on tweaking her Inquisitor archetype to be an Infiltrator and Sanctified Slayer.

Would it be possible via feats or something similar for my character to become a graveknight? I would go lich, but I don't want to be a spell caster and it doesn't fit the flavor of the character I'm going for, which is fighter 5 into Order of the Crux Hellknight 1, and vampire doesn't really work either, but I want to be undead.

Is the devilbound template an option?

Damnit! Had just come up with that as a nice way of not crossing over too much with Seth... back to the drawing board!

Also - are the Vampire feats available? I've always wanted to play a proper vampire!

Evening gang - I'm the group's vampyr anti-paladin. Some interesting pitches here, but some also overlap with some of the PCs current in play.

I would advise looking at the party as/is and see what we're lacking.

Not sure if GM-F will be asking for our input, but if we are, its likely that characters that'll best compliment the current line-up will factor in our thoughts.

Good (or should that be Bad?) luck all

Having now seen Albrekt I get the answer to the vampire question! @Albrekt - would you mind if I statted a vampire character up too? I'm thinking of going monk so we could have some nice Vampire-Frontliner fun! :)

@GM: How would you rule the Hungry Ghost works with an Unchained Monk? Life Funnel, Life from a Stone and Sipping Demon replaces the Ki Powers from 6th, 10th and 12th levels?

Thalin the Oathbreaker

Cleric of Asmodeus (former priest of Moradin)
Domains Evil and Trickery

Thalin was once a proud member of the Forge Father's faithful, but his pride and arrogance led him to his fall after allowing the death of a group of young dwarven acolytes to die while he fled. When his betrayal was discovered, Thalin tried to justify it, but was exiled from the Clan and shaved clean as a sign of his dishonor.

Years have passed and Thalin now seeks any means to strike a blow against the forces of Light who were too blind to see that sometimes lesser minions must fall in order to preserve true strength.

I can flesh this concept out more if you think he could fit in well with the others in the group.

I've no issue with it Nikolaus - would be GM-Fang's call though.

Albrekt is definitely a blunt force so a precise razor would make an interesting foil :)

Tazo here with my submission of Rose Silversting, Aasimar Cleric (Evangelist) of the Whore Queen, Eiseth (and by extension Asmodeus). She is a fallen aasimar/celestial, and mechanically is an archer cleric. Background and stats are in the profile.

I threw in Disable Device since someone needs to do it and her dexterity is high enough to be okay at it. But if you also accept a rogue-like character then Rose can shift those points to other skills.

Forgot to add, I have played through parts of WotW including the prison escape and the trip north, but have never made it out of Book 1. Regrettably the longest-running game petered out at Level 4.

Here is Julia Ray

Lawful Evil Ranger, sentenced for Murder, she is a mercenary for hire who specializes in taking people out from a distance.

She idolizes the hell knights, but doesn't join them because what she does isn't really legal.

She always makes good on her contracts, and makes sure that the client is as well. She separates her job and her personal life, but she isn't very good person.

Followed of Asmodeus, she believes in the hierarchy and order of things, just not the one currently in power.

Now she's out for some payback; judge, jury, and executioner style.

Just need to get her armor and gear. She uses a +2 strength composite bow.

Graveknight is a possibility. If you get selected we can discuss the details.

Philo Pharynx wrote:

My Sorcerer is already going down that path through a modified prestige class. I’m not sure I want that level niche overlap at the moment, but something similar might be possible, if my current player consents.

Re: Vampire: If Albrekt is fine with it, then I don't see why not.

Re: Hungry ghost: That sounds reasonable.

Please have your submission completed by Friday (say 48hrs from this post.) I'll be making my decisions over the weekend and sending out invites directly, so if you've completed you submission and are happy with it, you don't need to keep checking this thread.

The current submitted characters all seem ok at first blush. Don't worry too much about background, we can always flesh it out later, if you get selected.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hell-o(Sorry, couldn't resist) all,

Haruk here, he of the silver tongue, and the devil form.

Not sure how many characters Fang plans on picking, but my personal preference would be for a divine caster, to cover some healing and buffs, and a second martial, hopefully with decent skills.

Thanks GM Fang.

Another question (I know - sorry!). With traits, is it 2 traits as normal or one trait and a reason to be in Branderscar?

@Nikolaus: Albrekt started with the group after they had escaped Branderscar and for him I just picked 2 traits that we're thematically right.

I'd imagine the same applies here, but it may be Branderscar's security was lacking once again... with a second Asmodean recruitment drive but GM-F can confirm on that front.

Echoing Haruk - think we do need a definite need for skills/martial and divine caster - with the ability to heal/buff (vampyrs) being paramount :)

(Edit: ignore my jesting last part we have a creepy necromancer who covers undead augmentation rather well)

I've been wanting to play an evil cleric for a while now.

Dark Archive

This is Nikolaus' submission - Sarianna Nightsong, Unchained Monk and Vampire. Mechanically shes a half-orc, but fluff terms she's a human - I just couldn't build a vampire without a natural bite attack!

I haven't spent money just yet and I'm happy to tweak skills and traits to better benefit the party if selected! :)

All mechanics are in the alias. Hope you like!

OK, I think Price is fully up to specs. I went with the Divine Scion PrC instead of Assassin. It improves her casty-ness and more closely fits her dedication to Asmodeus. I plan on keeping Cures and other healy spells in her deck. She's not quite as good as a full divine caster but she can play a variety of roles. Despite the loss of Assassin, she is still a sneaky infiltration sort with Disable Device, Stealth, etc.

In terms of playstyle, Price is the smart, patient, and calculated evil sort - punctuated with moments of intense violence as necessary. She isn't the twirl-your-moustache, laugh maniacally, and kill people for the slightest insult or no reason at all sort.

If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks for the consideration.

You can just pick two traits. Nobody escaped from Branderscar. That actually goes for everyone in the current group as well. I think this is the 4th time I've had to re-recruit.

From a background standpoint, all the characters will have had to sign some version of an infernal contract.

Contract:

Behold on this day Oathday in the Age of Enthronement a perpetual Compact is made between Cardinal Adrastus Thrune (hereafter the Master) and those who would be bound to him as his acolytes (hereafter the Bound). Both the Master and the Bound shall hold fast and true to this Compact through all trial and tribulation. By blood and soul the Bound commit to the Compact and swear that it shall never be undone.

The Bound shall know and understand the Four Loyalties.

The First Loyalty is to their patron and god – mighty Asmodeus, first among the fallen, prince of the nine hells, our father below. They shall do all that can be done to further his worship and his glory.

The Second Loyalty is to their master – He who is called the Cardinal Adrastus Thrune, High Priest of Asmodeus in Cheliax. They shall do the Master no harm and obey his every commandment as long as those commandments do not clash with their First Loyalty.

The Third Loyalty is to their companions – the other Bound who serve alongside them. The Bound shall deal with each other fairly and honorably as long as doing so does not clash with their first or second loyalties. All treasure, wealth and reward garnered in their exploits will be equally shared with all of the Bound who aided in its acquisition.

The Fourth Loyalty is to themselves – for Asmodeus is the Lord of Ambition and all who serve him should strive to become great and powerful in his service as long as doing so does not clash with their first, second or third loyalties. By their weakness, ye shall know the unworthy.

The Bound swear that they cleave to and uphold the Four Loyalties even in the face of death and damnation.

The Master swears that as long as the Four Loyalties are upheld, he shall reward the Bound as they deserve for their deeds. Thus it is written, and thus it shall be. We being of sound mind and free will do so swear and let they who violates this Compact know all the wrath of Hell unending.

Signed

Sadly, as much as I want to try and get in, I don't think I'll be able to finish my character in time.

Thank you for the chance and happy gaming everyone!

My muse got distracted. Have fun!

I’d like to offer Molasbar for your consideration. His background and stats are in this profile. He’s a lawful evil Half-Orc Investigator (empiricist) 2 / Magus (kensai) 4. His primary role would be as a traditional rogue (trap finder and scout), though he would be a good secondary melee fighter. He also has all of the knowledge skills at least at +8 and some minor spellcasting/UMD back up abilities.

I’ve been in a few false starts of WotW. Only one made it as far at the start of book 2, and I would love a chance to get further (and maybe finish it)!

Just a quick post to say that invites have been sent out and recruitment is closed.
