Arthur, WotW |
My end goal for armour is a Mithral full plate, this armour would be a good bridge until then.
GM what is the cost of refitting? 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5x100 = 500gp? Do we have an armour smith atm who could do it?
I like all players like the cloak of resistance, and plan to get it during the game, but I can understand it being fair to give it to some one else if I receive the armour.
As for the mithral would it not be wiser to save it for forging later on? I could use it for armour, perhaps some one else also could?
GM Fanguar |
@Kaynen: 1000gp to start. WBL is pretty low to start off and the party never cleared the prison, so they didn't loot the wizard's tower or find Blackerly's coin chest. Oddly, they just made a run for it.
@Ember: You can sell the mithral to the bookkeeper.
@Arthur: Refitting is a ridiculous rule, even if it 'makes sense' so don't worry about it.
RE: Full plate: From a pure mechanics point of view, giving the plate to Albrekt gives you the most bang for your buck. Alternatively, you sell the armour, buy a breastplate, give up 1 AC and pocket 550gp.
RE:Mithral: Mithral full plate costs 10500gp, I'm not sure it's worth holding onto the mithral until you can make up the difference. Selling it and buying, say, a wand of Infernal healing might be worth while
Re:Party Wealth: I don't really stress about WBL and the like, and I am more concerned about party strength than individual strength. In the end, there should be plenty of goodies to go around. Also note, we are playing an AP designed for 4 with 5 PCs and I wont be adding more loots in, so WBL will be a touch lower than normal.
Last thing: Since you have so much in game downtime, the Cardinal can get you anything you want to buy. Crafting is an option if anyone wants. And just a heads up, once we move on, it will be a level or two before you get to do any serious shopping again.

@Loot
I don't think it's wise, or at least Ember will not tolerate giving the armor to any other than Arthur.
One of the loyalties says we should divide among those that helped in acquiring it. Albrέkt didn’t participate in the nine trials. To Ember, giving him the armor is the same as breaking the contract.
>.< Sorry, she is a zealot.
@Lootsheet
I’ve updated the sheet with the starting money of each one of us.
There’s a column for everyone, where you should put everything you expend your money with. Once we acquire more goldies, it gets shared between the party in a fair manner, in agreement with the loyalties.
If you take a closer look, Arthur has ‘negative’ balance, since he ‘expend’ more than he should have, if he takes the armor and the cloak.
The sheet factors the initial money (1k for me, Albrέkt and Kaynen) and the starting gold (300 for Arthur and Lucetta) and the selling the Mithril snake.
Arthur, WotW |
Having seen your posts I will take both the cloak and the armour. GM makes a valid point in regards to the mithral, please sell it the money we can get for it now is better spend on other equipment.
Any one who needs a chainshirt, I have one to spare now. If not I'll try and sell it. It that possible GM?
Ember Thorn |
Okay boys and gals.
Let's do this:
Arthur: Sorry, you got no money to expend! used all to 'buy' the armor and cloak. but you still need to post your initial purchase (300gp).
Lucetta: Please post your purchases, you have 775 gp, plus the initial 300 gp.
Albrέkt: Post what your purchased with your initial 1000gp.
Kaynen: Post what your purchased with your initial 1000gp.
For me, I only got a wand of Infernal healing.

I've also updated his sheet to Level 3 and hopefully all the rules of this campaign that may have differed from his prior one.

Hey, thanks for the patience!
I’m back… Kinda…
I have only one more test and one more seminar, both scheduled to next week. I reckon I’ll be able to catch up and resume an acceptable posting rate.
Again, thanks for understanding. :)

Kaynen has Charm available, but I'm waiting for Lucetta to take the lead here again as our top Bluffer and perhaps for her to start searching for our paperwork or make up an excuse how it was stolen that Kaynen can jump in on to assist.

Hi all, just a quick note to say that Dunedin here in NZ has had record-breaking levels of flooding this last 24 hours so I've been otherwise occupied dealing with various minor-crises! Normal service will be resumed shortly ^.^
Lucetta De Leon |
Thank you for your best wishes :)
So a couple of days back we had literally 24 hours straight of heavy rain, it was 160mm total during that time! Apparently that's a 'once a century' event. An interesting middle to a week that started with a 4.7 quake 30km away and less than 5km deep! (Only lasted 10 seconds and at first I thought it was an animal on the roof until the walls started shaking!) Tis a good thing we've no active volcanoes down here else that would have been the trifecta for the week ;)
We got away quite lightly with just a few leaking windows, soggy carpet and a flooded garage. My neighbors weren't so fortunate, they had over two feet of water in their basement. One of my colleagues was awake at 3 in the morning digging a trench to try and divert the flood water from washing away the foundations of his house. One entire suburb (built on reclaimed land...) was several inches underwater! No casualties thankfully though, and things are slowly returning to normal :)

Okay im confused now. I Posted my Round two action since the GM botted the first round because of the travel. Im waiting to Round three and I get botted again.
Did my second Round or third Round got GMPC'ed?
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Fanguar |
Basically, you go right before the enemy, as you start the turn. So after the enemy acts, everyone can act, the rest of the party finishes the round and then you start then next. I can't be bothered to do a round summary each time.
As I see it, order only really matters for the first round, as such I like to simply run things with PCs who win initiative go, then baddies (I'll always lump them together), then all PCs (finishing 1st, starting 2nd), then baddies, then PCs...etc.
Sorry if that wasn't clear.
You can post your round 4(?) action now.
Lucetta De Leon |
Oh bother, there goes the diplomatic solution!
Let's hope they respect a good old fashioned show of strength ^.^
GM Fanguar |
Ok folks, the last act of this books is a little sandboxy, which can be a problem with PBPs, so if things get bogged down, I might have to get a little railroady to get us back on track.
Aldencross is a is a small town of 1800 individuals (1,500 humans;150 dwarves; 50 halflings; 100 other) It gets plenty of traffic and merchants due to the nearness of the keep, so your arrival won't cause much of a stir if you have any reasonable backstory. You can buy any mundane equipment. There is a number of smiths servicing the keep so mwk arms and armour are no problem. Most 1st and 2nd level scrolls are available as well. Not much in the way of magic items though.
Though Aldencross is a sizeable town, there is only one inn that caters to travellers -- “The Lord’s Dalliance”. It is a pleasant enough place with strong drink and adequate food. In the evenings there are often off-duty soldiers and even the occasional watch captain. Dancing girls and comely bar maids ply the soldiers eager to earn a share of the king’s gold.
Anyone who spends an evening in the Lord’s Dalliance and makes a Diplomacy skill check (DC 10) can receive one rumor about the area. Subtract 5 from the DC if you spend at least one gold piece buying drinks.
You can also ask specific questions about specific things you are interested in. People are friendly and open, at least at first.
Recall, your goal here is to weaken the keep so that the bugbear army can crush it. Kill leadership, destroy defenses, open the gate etc., not try to destroy it yourselves.

I don't remember, is HP rolled or we take half+1?
+1 Des (For a total of 18)
+1 Acrobatics
+1 Religion
+1 perception
+1 Stealth
+1 BAB
+1 Reflex
Access to 2nd level spells.
I'll update the spell list in some hours.
Ember Thorn |
Also, GM
I know that Sandbox in PBP can be somewhat difficult and hard to manage, even more because players usually are at loss of what to do.
We have a clear objective for the next 30 days: Weaken the fort and open the gates.
To keep the game moving, would you mind if I take a more pro-active stance with Ember?
I mean, in my character sheet it’s listed as INT 8, which may be against Ember planning and deciding things, however if you don’t mind, I would do it, to keep the game moving and smooth.
GM Fanguar |
@Albrekt: Thanks for the update.
@Ember:That's fine. Ember has a high WIS score so it falls under the whole book vs street smarts thing. Also the the info you can get from gather information checks does a pretty good job of providing leads for you to follow up so I'm not too worried about things getting derailed, but if you want to take the lead for this part, go for it. Just make sure you give everyone a chance to chime in, if they want to.
Ember Thorn |
Nah, don't worry
I plan to the be bossy but not enforcer.
I'll say it must be done. If they say no, I'll claim they are going agaist the dark father will, which is represented by me, his chosen priest. :D

Albrέkt Heißhungrig |
Mentioned it to me chief - been incorporating it all along GMF ;) Drat lol.
Think we need to discuss some strategy given the rumours we've uncovered - can do that here or in character?
We also need to divvy up the loot and decide on what we're doing with the leftovers...
Presume the bows, swords and armour can be traded or sold on? Or we'd have left them buried in the wilds (no point in sporting a shed load of weaponry for no good reason and little financial gain?)
6 Shortswords carry 30GP total resale/trade value
6 Short Bows carry 90GP total resale/trade value
7 Suits of Studded Leather carry a 87GP 5SP resale/trade value
Ivory Statue of the nude mermaid 150GP
Anyone want the MW Greataxe?
Coin: 220GP each
