With the exception of the captain's warhorse, the steeds aren't identifiable enough to worry about.
As for gear, ya, selling it isn't really going to work in the short term. Just hang onto it (bury it or what not), and you can sell it after the adventure.
You can assume the patrol's identity (just remember that hats of disguise just give a +10 bonus to disguise). If you hadn't already discovered the secret tunnel into the keep I would say go for it, but under the current circumstances, I would advise against it.

Vank Stormfist |

Yeah just hide the equipment for later sale, although if anyone want to use any of it the hats of disguise should make them look different
while you are carrying them.
To Vank selling the horses is just too risky (even though GM has said it would be ok).
I am traveling for the next 3-4 weeks, I should have phone internet or similar all that time but I will not have as much time to post. Expect my posts to be short and less frequent until the second week of January.

Something that might be fun-
We could attach large tree limbs to the horses like sleds, light them on fire and send them all stampeding in different directions.
Nothing like a giant forest fire right outside the fortress to mess with everyone's heads.

Albrέkt Heißhungrig |

Random thoughts and notions...
Now we've butchered the patrol we could frame someone for their murders? This travelling bunch of troubadours perhaps?
Was all for leaving the corpses decorating a hanging tree... once Albrέkt has showered in the blodd of course.
Downside of the forest fire is it will attract the potential attentions of good aligned forest denizens and the like. Might serve as a distraction from our in keep power play tho.

Merry Festives one and all
Was scanning over Xanos' character (for potential of future necroferious collaborations) and noticed he'd put theme music for his character - Chris Cornell's most excellent You Know My Name... which got me thinking... what's everyone else's themes?
So in the interests of festive fun I give you Albrέkt's theme by Rammstein (of course);
Mein Herz Brennt (probably NSW)

I have ideas, but after the last plan I thought I'd sit back and see how the party does things without me micromanaging anything. I feel like I need to observe more.

GM Fanguar |

Sorry to take away a little of your agency, but we are getting a little bogged down here. I'm just going to list off some priorities here:
1. You need a map of the keep, so you can plan out what to do. The leader of the dwarven engineers has one. They are staying the same inn as you so you know their schedule. Six days a week at first light, they wake, eat breakfast and trudge up the hill to the watchtower for a hard day’s work. At night, they return to the Inn to eat, drink an unprecedented amount of ale, chat in dwarven about the tower, and to play dwarven card games no one else in town understands. On the seventh day – they just skip straight to the drinking. This is what passes for a dwarven religious ceremony.
2. You need to sabotage the rookery. It is the only fast way of communication the keep has. If you knock it out, it will take weeks to for Ballentine to send for and receive reinforcements. The night of the play would be a good time to hit priority targets as most soldiers will be watching it. It would also be a good time to snoop as you won't have to worry about bumping into anyone.

Vank Stormfist |

I'm back from holidays. Sorry didn't have internet for the last bit (and health issues with family members) meant I haven't been keeping up. I'll take a moment to catch up and post soon. I might also have to disappear for a couple of days with little notice, sorry.

GM Fanguar |

Lots of good stuff going on the in the gameplay thread. I just want to to clarify that the above two objectives are not the only things you can do. I just thought I would give you some direction and those are two important ones.
You can signal the bugbears whenever, but if the defences are not suitably weakened they can fail. (the AP has a score sheet, you get points for different objectives and depending on the total when you signal that's what determines the outcome.)

Vank Stormfist |

Away for long weekend here.see you in three days.

Never really thought about music theme, but if I were to choose one, it would be this one: Elizabeth

Albrέkt Heißhungrig |

Nice choice - very fitting :)
On a separate note - just a heads up that I’ll be heading over to Dubai from tomorrow for 6 days. Will visiting with family and friends, and promises we’ll be on a tight itinerary.
As such am not sure how oft a chance I’ll get to post - so presume it’ll be on the minimal end.
GM-Fang please bot Albrέkt as necessary while I’m away, so I don’t hold up the action. I’m back late Tuesday 16th, so it’ll likely be Wed week afore I’m back in the saddle proper.
Don't be too bad in my absence lol.
Cheers

I try to come up with theme music for all my characters. I find it helps get into their mindset, and sometimes helps flesh out their motivations.

Ember Thorn |

Hey, welcome back.
Never had the opportunity to visit Dubai, unless you consider expending some hours in the airport waiting for a flight connection visiting the place, but it seemed sandy. xD

Vank Stormfist |

I like the accent too, I've done several years of German I'm not sure if it really helps (:
I like your character too Ember, sorry if Vank comes off a little pushy just put him in his place, he respects military authority.

GM Fanguar |

Okay folks, I posted some higher resolution images of the keep, so you can actually see what is going on. During the performance, pretty much everyone is going to be in area 31. Which will pretty much prevent you getting you into the keep proper, but will give you free reign over the rest of the place, minus the soldiers on guard duty. You enter the keep via the tunnel to room 1.

Albrέkt Heißhungrig |

Like that you guys are enjoying my Red Skull meets every B Movie Nazi in Albrέkt's accent.
I actually have to say his speech out loud then in my best Hans Lander impression attempt to make it sound right (or wrong) depending on how you look at it. Familiarity probably doesn't help as I'm butchering the language and "camping" (or should zhat be kamping ;) it up big style.
Love the interplay between this desperate group of villains... as bad guys we should have our own machinations and motivations, which will feed off the common good (bad).

Vank Stormfist |

Thanks GM much better can even read it on my phone. But I can't see room 1 only 2.

GM Fanguar |

Thanks GM much better can even read it on my phone. But I can't see room 1 only 2.
Room 1 is not on the same map as room 2. It's one of the detached rooms on the other half of the map, but really it's just a storeroom beneath room 2.
So it sounds like everyone is good with taking out the rookery during the play. If you are going to be make any special preparations for the raid, let me know. I'll put some sort of transitionary post up shortly.

Vank Stormfist |

Ok thanks.
Vank is good to go (not having to memorize spells helps prep.)

Vank Stormfist |

Just a quick warning. My wife is due to give birth in a week and a half so likely to be a semi random pause in posting from me. I'll try to get on and post a warning when it starts but I might not get a chance.

Ember Thorn |

Hey Guys.
I’ve been struggling thru some hard time those last few days.
I don’t want to burden you guys with it, but I just want to gives you guys a heads up about it.
Posting may be spooky in the next weeks, please bear with me for a little and bot me if I'm stalling the game.
Thanks.

Vank Stormfist |

No problem. Hope things get better soon.

Vank Stormfist |

Please bot me if required over the next couple of days. My wife is entering labour.

Vank Stormfist |

Down with food poisoning will be back with you as soon as I can.

Xanos |

It is my understanding that no one has actually gone into the bird room yet. It is not my intention to stone call my allies, so if any of them have pushed inside, I'll set the edge of my spell just in front of them.

Ember Thorn |

If we can manage to shut down the doors and light the building on fire that would be awesome!
Ember wont openly says to follow that course of action. It wasn't her idea...

Vank Stormfist |

(: from my reading of the map the only doors are a double doors on ground level and one onto the roof.
The high level characters will get out, if nothing else they can jump from roof, take some damage from the fire and falling but get out.

GM Fanguar |

The level of success for the assault depends on what targets you hit. Below I've posted the GM scoring rubric. If you need some ideas, take a look. I put it behind a spoiler in case there is anyone who doesn't want to know.

Vank Stormfist |

There is a connection between the keep and the lower level as well, room 10. Also, I'm not really sure of the mechanics of lighting the keep on fire from the outside, as all the timber supports would be on the inside.
thanks. As for lighting it up originally I had thought there were arrow slits or windows, looking at the map there aren't any so I was now thinking of someone climbing to the roof and throw in alchemist fires into the roof hatch
