added chapter 11

also I doubt the full story will finish to be a proper submission.

couple that with the high probability of not being selected. I think I will simply compile a short synopsis and then continue the story at my leisure. (not sure if anyone is actually reading the story anyway... based on no feedback)

I'm actually reading it! :D

It's a lot to get through, sorry I haven't provided any feedback - I'm not entirely sure where I'd start.

I suppose if I had questions, I'll start with: Where/how did Talon acquire the shadow creature/shadow lord template? Did he just always have them? Also, how did he get the attention of this "Marcus" fellow, and/or how did Marcus find him?

Why did he stay in the city that he was from if it was full of people hunting him?

to answer the questions:

1. talon was born of the Shadow realm, he always had the shadow abilities from birth. (in chapter 1 and 2 Talon did not even have a name), he had no memory of a family, he was simply a rejected spawn of the the shadow realm.

2. He first caught Marcus' attention when he managed to escape the public execution. (Chapter 5 and 6) Talon showed talent, and Marcus felt that he could nurture that talent and direct it how he wanted. before other assassin organizations got hold of Talon.

3. He stayed in the city because he did not have anyplace else to go, he did not know of any other place having existed only in Ridwan since his "birth". It wasn't until Marcus showed him the rest of the world did he realize there were other places he could go.

it was basically a fight or die situation and he choose to fight, learning, as he lived through each victory.

but application aside, i would like you to enjoy it as a reader first

I thought I'd share this map just in case you feel like having a truly world-wide sky pirating adventure...

Sparel’s backstory:

Like many intelligent elves Sparel was drawn to the wizardly arts. He attended the Kyonin academy and learned many fascinating things, but it was never enough. He was a particularly adept student and he grew tired of the restrictions his professors put upon him. Having grown tired of the limited knowledge his instructors would allow him he decided to try to glean secrets from lesser-known places. Where else but the library could he look? The available collection was mostly tame as it would be to the general student body. Any number of unfortunate things could happen if one of the students tried to reach beyond they’re capabilities. Sparel knew this, but he was hopeful that something was overlooked by a lesser mind. After all what kind of simpleton would be put in charge of that sort of task on otherwise unremarkable books. He was looking for a scrap of lore, some seemingly mundane words to point him in the right direction, anything of interest that might stave off the boredom from the simple lessons his masters would allow.

Sitting in a quiet secluded nook in an infrequently used part of the library as he was prone to do, Sparel overheard the Grejoy speaking to someone quietly.

Grejoy, ”…They’re so musty. I swear I’ve asked the headmasters to send some of the servants in there to at least dust, but ‘no no’ they say. ‘Too dangerous.’ Bla bla ‘not properly catalogued’ bla bla. If it’s so bloody dangerous then why not make getting that unholy mess into some sort of decent order? I’m this close to giving him a piece of my mind…”

”Archives?” Sparel thought to himself. ”Where on Kyroin could those be? I’ve been over every inch of this place. What’s more if they’re keeping them secret then there must be a reason.” Sparel now had a mission.

Grejoy was a man of minor arcane talent, mostly cantrips and such. However, he’d been the academy’s bookkeeper for a very long time. It was Grejoys job to catalogue everything for reports to the headmaster’s council. Sparel surmised that he had to go into the archives every so often to take some basic level of stock.

”Humm.” Sparel though glancing at the book in his hand, “The nocturnal habits of the common Grig.” Having found something exponentially more interesting he placed his volume quietly on a nearby shelf.

Sparel always had a knack for slinking in the shadows and it served him well. Also, he had a trick for seeing at a distance that was helpful. Sparel spent many days and nights surreptitiously stalking Master Grejoy. All in all the mans habits were incredibly mundane and tedious, but Sparel knew it was only a matter of time before he had to go into the archives again. Then it happened. Grejoy made his way to a rarely used reading nook. Grejoy looked around suspiciously then pulled the curtain to the reading room. Sparel ducked behind a bookshelf and used his farsight trick to watch what the man was doing. Grejoy pressed a number of bricks in a very specific pattern and a section of the wall melted away.

”No wonder I’ve never found it until now. It’s a rather clever setup really.”

Sparel stayed hidden until Master Grejoy exited the archive. Once the man was well and gone Sparel made his move. Following the same procedure Grejoy had he pressed the bricks in that order and made his way into the archives.

It was massive. Easily half the size of the rest of the library combined. There were books and accoutrement of learning stacked every which way on every shelf imaginable. All of it was in complete disarray and covered in dust. Sparel is not normally an overly emotional elf, but at that moment he nearly cried from joy. His smile was so big it hurt his face for days to come.

After verifying Grejoys schedule it was surprisingly easy to come and go as he pleased. Over the next few months Sparel spent as much time as he thought he could without being otherwise missed. His reputation of spending large swaths of time in the library helped with this. A few simple cantrips helped to cover his tracks.

Sparel found books and manuscripts on everything imaginable. Some of the tomes were on mundane and others less so. Nothing radiated magic. The masters had seen to that at least. The magical theory some of these books described was invaluable in progressing his studies. He always excelled in class, but now he was teaching himself.

One fine morning Sparel had spent nearly all night in the library. He’d brought a large mug of Kafka and made a night of it. Having just finished ‘Similarities and differences between summoning the outer planes,’ Sparel replaced it on the shelf, cast a cantrip to replace the dust, and moved onto the next volume. When he opened the book he was surprised to find no pages. Instead he found an odd mask. It was made of paper without holes for eyes or mouth. There were no marks on it of any kind. If not for the shape Sparel may not have known what it’s use was. ”How quaint.” Sparel said cheerfully as he toyed with the thing by placing it on his face. Then the world went black.

Sparel awoke with the mask loosely on his face. It came away easily enough, but the scene around Sparel was chaos. Shelves where knocked down, books were scattered all over the floor. Apparently he had been here awhile as all of the dust seemed to have resettled. He himself lay under a small pile of books. As he pushed the books off of himself one of them fell open. It was blank. Curiously Sparel opened another. Blank. And another. Blank. Looking at the mask in his hand for the first time he saw it was now covered in script. Looking around Sparel could see other random books had fallen open and scrolls unfurled. They were all blank. Again he noted the mask in his hand was covered in script.

”Oh. S&!%.” It wasn’t elegant or classy, but that simple statement covered the situation well enough. Immediately doing calculations in his head he knew Grejoy had just visited the Archives and the next time he was scheduled to be back was in about a week. Sparel had to leave. Now. There’s no telling what the masters would do to him. Would they allow him to leave? To live? Sparel made his way to the exit and pressed the stones in such a hurry he nearly forgot to cover his tracks. He didn’t have time to cantrip the whole thing. Feeling unknown energy surge within himself he cast a spell that he never had before. It was a spell he’d never known before. With a word and a gesture Sparel waved his hand and the trail through the dust vanished. Following the magic with his eye it wound back to where he had awoken. He watched as even his Kafka cup and spill vanished. He didn’t know how he knew, but he was certain that they were not invisible but instead they were gone. Every trace of him in this room was gone. The only things left were the disarray of blank books. Realizing he was still holding the mask he shoved it into the bottom of his bag and made a quick and stealthy retreat.

By the next day Sparel had made a reasonable excuse about being called home for family business. He even started to go home, but something inside him told him it was time to wander. He even found his steps took him farther than they used to. Also he felt… mischevious.

”I think it’s high time I saw more of the world.“

(Insert plot points about getting involved with the flying pirates. Loot, travel, and adventure are right up Sparel’s alley now.)

What is the trait "shipboard caster"?

I believe I have everything needed for consideration, correct?

I'll need to work on the character crunch a little, but here are a few notes.

- He can craft anything thanks to Crafting Mastery

- Additionally he has Wild Arcana for some daily casting versatility.

- I've got to pick spells, but that may take time. As it's a fluid thing I hope it's not a problem if I wait to fully do that until I'm accepted.

- I have a little more gold to spend, but that'll be on spells, permanency effects and such. Also, I think I may make a flying construct mount or perhaps a simulacra for the same.

- I'm sure I'll think of more, but if you have any questions or suggestions I'm open to that.

+3 concentration checks when casting on a ship. It's from Pirates of the inner sea. I thought it was thematically appropriate.

Yes, you're correct. Now have fun awaiting selections. Quick question, I think - how did you qualify for Mystic Theurge with only one level of cleric and no racial spell-like abilities?

Oh, Also I went with the caster level as opposed to Wizard level for discoveries and feats. I wasn't sure if you used that house rule or not, but if not I'll remove it.

Ah, sorry Leinathan; i can;t make the time commitment to the character creation. Im going to drop. i would have liked to join; but i simply cannot spend any more time on this because of finals and the other things i am working on this week.

Lein, do we get bonus hp from ability score mod for each HD or just for the HD that are rolled?
Basically do we include the maximized HD or not?

d20pfsrd wrote:

You apply your character's Constitution modifier to:

Each roll of a Hit Die (though a penalty can never drop a result below 1—that is, a character always gains at least 1 hit point each time he advances in level).

You include the first HD too.

Is a fighter limited to always having 10 hp at 1st level? Is a wizard limited to always having 6? Etc. Etc.

Crunch is finished.

Oh, my alignment is CE for effect, almost CN but hey, vampire.

Also if crafting (i have Craft Wondrous), and I need a wizard spell to create an item, I assume using the cooperative crafting rules is ok?

I know that feeling.

You mean you don't feel a compulsion to kick puppies on the streets :O?

On the topic, Lucrecia is CE by virtue of an egocentric worldview and selfish motivations, not any uncontrolled urge to inflict suffering or spread evil.

Only if I am trying to hide and said puppy is barking at me. *flash of steel*

On Chaotic Neutral. Also my alignment. :-)

I have a couple of questions for everybody as I begin to select.

1. How would you introduce yourself to the crew of the airship?

2. Why should the crew of the airship take you onboard and share their plunder with you?

3. What does your character want to get out of flying on the airship? Inwardly? Outwardly? Are they different?

I think I probably forgot a couple, but that's good for now.

1. Talon would probably intially simply try and sign on as a regular crew memeber. his value would con over time as he worked his way through the "ranks" his stealth skill would eventually get noticed by the "PC's" and then the rest would be Role-played out from there.

2. initally there might not be any plunder coming talon's way. but he feels that once he is established and his talents realized, he would prove a valuable asset. Talon will let his actions be his introduction.

3. there is of course an agenda for him to sign on board...

Though it didn't come up in the long story yet, but his guildmaster, Marcus turns up missing. he would sign on the skyship as a means to try and locate Marcus. eventually, as the trust between Talon and the rest becomes more secure, Talon would share this mission with his fellow crewmates.

The Exchange

I don't think I can finish a draft I'm happy with, so I suppose I'll bow out. Good luck everyone.

I'll need to catch a train, but I'll get the answers to your questions tonight : )

Greetings crew of (insert the airship name here). I am Lord Gregor Von Keston. Here you may call me Gregor. I no longer have a tittle, but I call myself brother to you all. I have been around hundreds of years. I have amassed and spent wealth. I once led an army and knew what it was to have power. I now humbly submit myself as crew. I one day hope to possess wealth and power again and know I will find it with you lot. This is Lady Selestine (Succubus Companion) She too will be at your service, beware her kiss though unless you wish to pay the price. Hahahah… Now let us be off to find our glory.

Why should I be among your numbers you ask? Well I am a knight of the Grave. I possess many talents. Most notable is that I bolster your captains as long as they are around me. They will find themselves stronger. This includes any of you they choose to raise or bring over to undeath. Lady Selestine is an excellent spy and has the ability to make men eat from the palm of her hand. I have lead armies and possess a great deal of knowledge on any subject you wish to know about. Like your captains I am immortal and nearly indestructible. If struck down I will rise again. This too makes an excellent infiltration plan. Strike me down and then gift my armor to some unexpected king. I will rise in his treasury and loot him dry. So who will be the first to call me brother.

My goals are to amass great wealth and power yet again. I wish to hold land and title again. I want my people to thrive and for the rest of the land to fear our wrath. I seek to find companions loyal and like-minded.

Inwardly would be to help the crew rise to power slowly pressing the vampires on embracing a bit more evil in their heart and to one day hint at the notion of freeing the whispering tyrant. I figure Gregor has been alive hundreds of years. Waiting and patience while befriending the vampires should be no problem. Not like the Tyrant is going anywhere. Unless they destroyed him in Carrion Crown. Not familiar with the AP. Only played a bit of the first book of it 

1. I'm Malevor an escaped Chelish street kid and Outlaw(provided I know they're pirates)
"Oh what are they after you for?"
I burned Westcrown to the ground and killed every non tiefling inside.
"?!"

2. Share the plunder with me, I'll multiply it and return it, with interest. Every ship needs a crew and I'd be fine to have my crew pilot it. I consider them disposable(except Coros) so for the vampires in the party...
just don't kill them.

3. I don't think Cheliax can get me in the air, and it'll feel good to be a bandit again and a fugitive, It's been too long since I've semi-relaxed.

1. How would you introduce yourself to the crew of the airship?

"Sparel or Radtymah if you prefer. Ships people sometimes call you by your last name, correct? Regardless, just keep it respectful."

2. Why should the crew of the airship take you onboard and share their plunder with you?

"I'm extremely useful and I can prove it. I'm a caster of quite a bit of skill. Offense, defense, utility, healing. I got you covered. I'm also quite bright."Almost as an afterthought, "Also I can make any magic item you can think of."

3. What does your character want to get out of flying on the airship? Inwardly? Outwardly? Are they different?

"Adventure, Travel, Booty(loot), and an occasional chance to plunder far off places for knowledge. I've caught a case of wanderlust. "

Secretly:" Also getting away from Kyronin and away just in case anyone figured out what happened. It may cause problems. "

Zurn Thorn Q and A:

Zurn meets a strange man. A man that he trusts for some reason. It could be some magic beyond understanding, but he treats him like a friend of his.

The man speaks, "How would you introduce yourself to the crew of the airship?"

"Well, I am surprised that you know I am interested in that offer. Seems like the news of the airship has been circulating around this place really quickly. I must simply demonstrate my power and my willingness to take most of the lovely pain."

Zurn sits down across from the mysterious man.

The man responds with another question, "Why should the crew of the airship take you onboard and share their plunder with you?"

"I have medical methods that some may find.... severe.... but my medical expertise is top notch. Torturing and interrogation is not foreign.... to me. I can provide a kind of protection and magic, that no one else can. Now if I am paid well, I can provide a great service. I did not gain my power easily, I gained it with my sweat, blood, and faith."

Zurn wonders why this man is so full of questions, but he continues to listen.

"What do you want to get out of flying on the airship? Inwardly? Outwardly? Are they different?"

Zurn thinks for a moment and responds, "You are so full of questions and so am I. I still do not know all that I could know. I have heard a little bit about the leaders of the ship. I am intrigued by the prospect of having patients.... with no pulse. Being a better doctor is probably a goal they would not proceed with, but I intend to. Just because I am a 47 year old man does not mean I have lost my sense of adventure. I suspect that the pirates would be interested in wealth. I need some wealth myself, sometimes improvement costs money.

Zurn gives a grin.

#1 & #2:

As the Airship sails along suddenly everyone is alert ot a winged creature flying straight at their port side.. It appears to be moving in for an attack.. The ships defenses spur into action, firing dozens of projectiles at the thing in a matter of seconds, but none seem to find purchase.. Before they can be reloaded the creature lands hard on the deck, falling to one knee as it gains its balance.. Folding it's blackend wings behind it's back it stands and surveys the crew.. Everyone within 20' of the angel suddenly feels a very powerful protection spell wash over them.. "Do not be alarmed mortals.. If I were here to destroy you I would be well under way by now.. I am Agash, Fallen Angel and servitor of Szuriel and I'am here to offer my services of spell and blade to aid you in the relief efforts of others gold.. I offer my services at a discounted rate! I require only 75% of my share, the other 25% you may split amoung you.. Why do this? I have a rather important task to get underway and you alls ship will go along way to getting me started, for this I am willing to forfiet 25% of my earnings.. In addition this offering I can provided a multitude of divine spells from healing to divinations of treasure piles, as well as a mighty sharp blade.." You all here some muffled ranting from the scabbard across the angel's back..

#3:

Outwardly he wants to help in the looting of every major bank/treasure hold in Golarion.. Inwardly he wants to do this to crush the monetary infrastructure of the region and create panic and eventually war.. War is very profitable as well so..

I just want to say I'm really enjoying reading everyone's stuff. Even if I don't get picked I may just read along anyway.

Sparel Radtymah wrote:

hope you are enjoying Talon's story also

@Agash, your Ledgendary Sword is done wrong. Couple things, you picked intelligent twice. The first instance gives the item scores of 10, 10, 10 and the ability to speack common and senses. When you pick it again you can give scores all +2 or one +4 and another +2 so your scores are wrong. Picking it the second time gives it spell casting 5 points. You would need to give up undetectable and take intelligent a third time to have the 10points to spend, even if you do this your scores are off a bit.

Edit: Actually I don't think you can stack the points either. So you can't do higher than a 2nd level spell 3/day. If you can stack the points you could take intelligent 5 times on a legendary item to get a 9th level spell 3/day, though to do this I guess you would need to be tier 3 taking Legendary item and then spending your feet on extra path ability legendary item so you get to pick all 6 abilities at onece, but even only taking it twice you could get a 5th level spell 3/day. So not sure guess its GM call. Even at tier 3 if you pick up ledgedary item for the second time and had intelligent already you could take it 3 times to get 15points and do a 7th level spell 3/day so I'm pretty sure they can't stack each instance gives you 5 points to spend seperatly.

Was my first time doing a Legendary Item so im not surprised if something is wrong..

The way i understood it was by taking legendary you get 3 points to spend on the weapon..

1 was spent on Undetectable
2 were spent on Intelligence, which grants 2 points to spend.. I did read the stat bumps wrong so ill fix that.. Edit: He would only have 1 point after reading.. So ill adjust accordingly..

As far as stacking the point i just assumed you could use stack spellcasting.. After doing some research the boards seem to agree with this, although the question of can you save unspent points is up in the air.. I mean how many artifacts have you seen that have a level 2 cap on Sla's? None.. It dones't make sense that something that powerful would be stuck with having only 2nd.. I chose a 3rd and a 2nd 3/day, but i might need to reconsider 5th level spells 3/day..

So whats ur thoughts on this Leinathan? Can you stack spell points from taking Intelligence twice or more time? Can you save unspent spell points for the future if so?

After reading further there's no 5th level spells atm, although the statment certainly leans towards higher than 2nd 3/day is possible, just only at higher tiers..

Spoiler:

Spellcasting: This item allows its bearer to cast a limited number of spells as spell-like abilities. This ability can be taken more than once. Each time it's taken, the bonded creature gains 5 points to spend on selecting what spells the item can cast. A spell costs a number of points equal to its level (minimum 1). The bearer can then activate the item to use each spell-like ability once per day. By spending double the cost, the bearer can use each spell-like ability three times per day. All spells must come from the same class's spell list. No spell can have a level higher than the bonded creature's tier. The caster level for these spells is equal to double the bonded creature's tier. The save DC for these spells is equal to 10 + the spell level + the bonded creature's tier.

Emphasis Bold..

Re Edit: Agash and I found the answer, I read it wrong. I was right the first go around. The first time selecting you get the base abilities with no stat bump or special ability selecting.

I understand about only having 5 points.. And Im totally gonna spend my next 2 points on making it a major artifact.. For now ill have to reduce it to just heroism and maybe a 1st level spell, unless we're allowed to store unspent points for a later date..

Edit: Indeed.. Just need to know if spell points can be saved if not spent? No rules can be found on this so it would be a GM call..

I would say that you can't avoid spending the points that go towards your weapon, or avoid taking feats, or avoid putting in skill ranks, or avoid any other sort of advancement that happens. You can, however, reconfigure your legendary weapon each time you gain a level, as if it were an eidolon.

Story Part 1:
Backstory: The agony and screams in Zurn Thorn's lair persisted, but the pain for his victims would only continue. Zurn Thorn was unphased by the pain and terror. He was not a vile man. He grew fascinated with physiology of many creatures, just like the average person in his family. Zurn Thorn felt that with this line of work, there was no way that clean work could done. Zurn Thorn thinks to himself, "Someone has to play in the dirt before the whole world can be clean." Being the best doctor involved many sacrifices, but his treatment was mix between relief and pain. He must alway continue to understand both.

Zurn looks at his scars, feels them, once he finds a fresh wound on himself, he opens it up with his fingers. Zurn speaks to one of his followers, "This is indeed part of the cure. Pain is only based on the perception in the patient's mind, if they consider it something else, maybe something to enjoy... I believe we will have guests soon, make sure to accomodate them."

Zurn moves out of the torture room into a large space. The servants place large amounts of food and drinks on the dining table. "That should be enough for our guests, keep the light well lit. Cut the sound when they come in. Let's not mix leisure with work."

Zurn knows that his brother Nerick Thorn is coming after him. Nerick has his blood and Zurn is proud of his blood. "It is a shame that are views are different. It has been 17 years since I have seen anyone in my family. So much potential not spent."

Zurn sits in a fancy chair at the end of the long table. An hour passes, giving Zurn Thorn time to reflect on his life. He is soon going to get a blast from the past anyway. Might as well get it over with.

Zurn Thorn's parents were Darenten Thorn and Vanessa Thorn. Zurn Thorn was the 2nd son out of three sons. His older brother was Daren Thorn and his younger brother was Nerick Thorn. Zurn Thorn loved his father's work, he grew fascinated by the human body. Facinated by it's healing capability. To the shock of his parents, He started scarring himself for the first time to test his own capability. Darenten forced him to stop, but Zurn only wanted to continue unraveling the mysteries of healing. As Zurn grew up, he grew jealous of his brothers. They were given powers by Sarenrae, while he was not given the respect he thought he deserved. He no doubt figured out in his learning that strange properties were at work in his family. Everyone that carried Thorn blood had great endurance. Some of great Thorn heroes were able to withstand mighty physical trials in the recorded history of the Thorn family. He kept his research a secret and his continued making new scars. He recorded his findings in a journal. He soon grew fascinated with pain, a very effective way to spite his family's attitude on his behavior. But, his true motive was to make his family proud, to make a breakthrough in medical work. That would never come to past. At least not before Roland Thorn was born and raised by Daren Thorn and his Assimar wife.

Darenten did not know what to do as he grew up. He soon came to the conclusion that maybe it is time for him to see the world for himself. Zurn was resistant and was soon kicked out of his family's home when he was 18. He was soon taken in by an Orc witch doctor named Baclac, who was a worshiper of Zon-Kuthon. Zurn was to naive to know the trouble he would soon be in. He was drawn by Balac's fascination with pain. Baclac was angry at Darenten Thorn, "He stole all my patients from my grasp, so I will steal you from his."

Zurn was chained and brutally tortured by his captor. The pain was bad for Zurn in it's early stages, but what really hurt him was not being accepted by his family. The pain became a twisted sort of escapism as he grew accustomed to the torture. After several months, Zurn says something surprising to Balac with a grin. "Balac... I want to kill my father."

The sky lights up and a voice booms down "I am Leinathan, god of all you see. I know you have been considering joining that Sky Pirate crew. How would you introduce yourself to the crew of the airship?"
Ossa looks confused, "How do I know you are-". A flash of lightning strikes beside him. "DO NOT QUESTION ME!!!" the voice responds. Ossa hastily replies, "I did not mean any offense. I plan on introducing myself as Ossa Blackblood. A mage of much experience as a pirate and navigator and handyman. Maybe they would be having ship troubles at the time that I could fix."
"Hmmm...interesting. And why should the crew of the airship take you onboard and share their plunder with you?" the voice booms. "They would not be able to find any plunder without a navigator to get them there. Besides I would be able to improve their ship as well as help fix it when the time comes. I also can make a variety of magic items and heal them at will. In addition I can help make them more money and assist in any violent situations." Ossa says, rather smugly.
"What does your character want to get out of flying on the airship? Inwardly? Outwardly? Are they different?" Ossa looks puzzled. "My character? If you mean me, then my inward goal is to be free. I see piracy as the best way to do that. That would also be my outward goal, in addition to gaining wealth and power."
"ENOUGH!!! I will return in a day with my decision. This decision will determine whether you continue to exist or not. Goodbye mortal."
"But I am not mortal." Ossa calls back. Rocks fall and hit him and the voice just laughs, fading away as it does so.

1. How would you introduce yourself to the crew of the airship?

Nearing twilight, as the crew docks the ship in a large cavern where their enemies won't find it, Nie'krok would slip down from the roof of the cave onto the ship, landing near someone important looking. He would smile widely, showing much-too-sharp fangs and say: "I've come to hunt you, but it's really not worth my time. Maybe we can be friends instead?

2. Why should the crew of the airship take you onboard and share their plunder with you?

Nie'krok specializes in aerial hit-and-run combat, using negative energy to heal himself (and others, if they qualify), and debilitating opponents within a small area. While the other players need to provide for their cohorts and followers and might fight over things like magical weapons and armor, he doesn't have the same needs they do, so he won't compete for a large share or specific items.

3. What does your character want to get out of flying on the airship? Inwardly? Outwardly? Are they different?

Nie'krok is haunted by the spirits of the dead that attach themselves to him and he tries to satisfy them as best he can (though he's not really sure what they want). This includes not only the spirits of his fallen Sabosan clan, but also the Strix that depended on him, and possibly even those he has killed, including the Syrinx and Dragons.

He thinks that by becoming the ultimate hunter (a source of pride among many flying creatures) and by finding a new clan to join that he can end his curse. So far, the airship is the best chance he has do both.

A small red-skinned horned creature flutters up alongside the ship. It spends a few moments zipping around the hull, inspecting it top and bottom. Finally satisfied, it finishes and flies up to the deck. "Hello! Tar'jub introduce himself!" it calls out in a raspy, high-pitched voice. "Or he already introduce himself maybe?" he adds quizzically, pausing to think about it for a moment.

"Tar'jub hearing that you have nice ship and maybe fly around causing mayhem and plundering things. Tar'jub thinks that is a good plan, and will be happy to join you!" Tar'jub says enthusiastically, bouncing erratically through the air as he speaks. "Tar'jub knows what you are thinking: Why we need little imp? Imps cause problems and are maybe not so helpful on ship. Plus imps always are wanting contracts and souls," he says, rolling his eyes as if he finds such concepts absurd.

"But Tar'jub no ordinary imp. He fights like small army, maybe do heavy lifting or smash things that need smashing. Good at scaring things like crew and mages... One time he scare mage so bad that the mage soil his robes. Very effective strategy for keeping Tar'jub from eating mage, very unexpected! Tar'jub had to settle for just beating mage to death instead." Tar'jub furrows his brow, clearly frustrated, as he recalls the incident.

After a second he shakes his head and continues, "But Tar'jub digresses. He promises not to eat crew or beat them to death, and maybe even not to sting them... Although if maybe you want him to sting crew sometimes, he is ok with that! Tar'jub just wants fair share of plunder, maybe a slave or two... and maybe not count things he eats against his share. And maybe to smash some mages, although not crew member mages, unless you want them smashed. No contracts, no souls, and if you tire of Tar'jub he go find someone else to plunder with!"

"If you ask why imp needs plunder, Tar'jub answer simply: He has no interest in returning to hell, and needs lots and lots of gold to retire for eternity. Lots of adventuring to do before then, and airship sounds like exciting way to do it! Maybe get small castle filled with interesting things..." His voice trails off as he hoists his tiny sledge over his shoulder and begins to daydream.

Sitting atop a small throne, the imp looks down on a gigantic chamber filled with treasure and slaves. Vast tables fill the spaces between the mountains of gold, arrayed with an assortment of exotic foods. Men and women in robes hang from runed shackles along the walls, crying out for mercy. He looks to his right to see a giant demon, a Balor, kneeling at his side. The fiendish being looks down and calls out to him: "Tar'jub, what is best in life?"

The imp ponders the question for a moment and responds: "To smash mages, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their familiars!"

There is something that I noticed about your character just now. My bad for not checking, and my bad again for not making it explicitly clear in the initial stages.

When determining your racial modifiers, always round down to the nearest even number - there are no creatures with odd-numbered racial modifiers.

So, an imp's racial modifiers would be:

+6 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Wis, +4 Cha

No worries, that's how I'd normally do it, but incorrectly interpreted the instructions.

You may play a monster of up to CR 14, using its CR as levels and its ability scores -10 as its ability score adjustments.

I read that but didn't notice that the troll stats below had even modifiers despite the trolls having some odd stats.

Anyway, Tar'jub's stats are fixed now. I dropped the point in int and dex, and reduced point buys in dex and cha by one point each to keep int where it was before.

Planning to have 3 parts. So, 2 more parts to go. :)

I had to make some changes to my stats as well.. It's fixed now.. Also the reconfigure ability sounds cool.. Im gonna swap my mythic feats around and take legendary weapon x2..

Withdrawing my submission. Have fun guys!
