Hey all, I'm heading on vacation to South America starting Wednesday for a week and a half. I expect I can still post on occasion but it's at least possible I'll miss some time. Feel free to bot me as needed.
Be careful. From what I hear...its pretty confusing down there in some countries.

Sorry all. I"m too busy to update today.
My mother is leaving tomorrow to take a nice cruise around New Zealand for two or so weeks. I'm heading to my parents house to care for my Father while she's away. So I've spent most of the day getting my stuff ready and preparing things while I'm away.
Once I'm there tomorrow I should be able to resume posting properly, thankfully my mother has stayed up to date with technology and has a PC of her own.

I have several other games on hold right now due to real-life problems and the Holidays too.
This last week was Thanksgiving here in the USA and some people have major obligations for such things.
I'm in no hurry to elect a new Captain, but I have no problem waiting for now.
Herzag
I am here, but some dialogues just need to be played out by 'The Cap' I think :D
It gets kinda weird if the crew is constantly piping in his conversations.
As for a new captain... Dunno... Best hear Percival on this?

We already have and want mounted:
Besmara’s Bones
Aura faint necromancy; CL 5th
Slot see text; Price 10,800 gp; Weight 300 lbs.
DESCRIPTION
Named for the goddess of piracy, strife, and sea monsters, this figurehead must be mounted on the prow of a ship to function.
Once per day, a ship carrying Besmara’s Bones can inflict a curse on an enemy ship struck with a successful ramming attack.
The target ship must succeed at a DC 14 Will save or its pilot takes
a –4 penalty on Profession (sailor) checks to control the ship.
In addition, the cursed ship can never gain the upper hand in ship-to-ship combat (Skull & Shackles Player’s Guide 9).
The curse inflicted by the figurehead cannot be dispelled, but it can be
removed with a break enchantment, limited wish, miracle, remove curse, or wish spell.
In addition, once per day, Besmara’s Bones can be used to cast false life (CL 5th) on the captain of the ship carrying the figurehead. A ship may not have more than one figurehead, magical or otherwise, mounted on it at one time.
CONSTRUCTION
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, bestow curse, false life;
Cost 5,400 gp
And
Captain’s locker
Aura strong conjuration; CL 13th
Slot none; Price 30,000 gp; Weight 150 lbs.
DESCRIPTION
This iron-banded sea chest is 2-1/2 feet by 3 feet by 4 feet in size
and is decorated with chains and brass skulls. The chest has no lock, but any standard lock can be easily attached to its hasp.
The interior of a captain’s locker functions similarly to a type IV
bag of holding, and can hold up to 2,500 pounds or a volume of 250 cubic feet. The chest’s weight remains the same, regardless of what it is holding.
A captain’s locker does not rot or take any other damage from immersion in water and is watertight, even if opened underwater.
When a captain’s locker is placed within the hold of a ship or some other enclosed cargo-carrying vehicle (such as a freight wagon with a cargo box), the chest warps the dimensions of the cargo hold so that the area’s cargo capacity increases by 50% without changing the weight of the vehicle. The cargo area remains attached to the vehicle, however, so outside conditions that affect the vehicle can also affect the cargo hold.
If the captain’s locker is removed from the cargo area while the hold contains more cargo than it could contain on its own, any excess cargo is forcibly expelled through hatches or other means of egress, dealing 3d6 points of damage to anyone standing within 5 feet of the means of egress.
CONSTRUCTION
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, mage’s magnificent
mansion, secret chest; Cost 15,000 gp
So I'm assuming for those we're just paying for the installation. Other than that here are the ones that jump out at me at first glance.
Magically Treated Sails Cost: 500 gp per 5-foot-square of sails
Benefit: The ship’s sails are magically treated, doubling their hit points and hardness. This improvement can only be added by a spellcaster with the Craft Wondrous Item feat.
Silk Sails Cost: 15% of base ship cost
Few ship improvements are as beautiful as the addition of silk sails. These sails can be designed in whatever color the player desires; they are often embroidered with striking images of the sea. Such sails are usually imported from faraway lands. Silk sails give the ship superior rates of movement, as they capture and displace the wind more efficiently.
Benefit: A ship with silk sails gains a +1 bonus on opposed sailing checks to gain the upper hand. The ship’s tactical speed in ship-to-ship combat is not affected, but its waterborne speed is increased by 10%.
Magically Treated Control Device Cost: 1,000 gp
Benefit: The ship’s steering wheel or tiller is magically treated, doubling its hit points and hardness. This improvement can only be added by a spellcaster with the Craft Wondrous Item feat.
tHOUGHTS?
Ashlei 'Burnout' Mamoud
I always liked the improvements that offer fire resistance and better hardness to ships for combat. Also there was one...extra rigging? Adds better handling to ships with only a slight increase of minimum crew needed. More weapons can't hurt either.
Other than tha, I'm good with any improvements. In the end, the Captain should decide unless he wants to put it up for a vote.

I have thoughts,
I would like to get both the hull and the rigging magically treated, much like we did with the ships wheel and tiller.
With the Captain's locker we have more cargo space, so Making the hull more sturdy would be nice too.
I have a few thoughts that are not standard upgrades that i saw in the books.
Is there any chance we can find a way to maybe make an archer platform or two along the mast that wouldnt interfere with sailing anyway, like maybe a second crows nest like platform Up the mast?
I know there was a thing for rapid deploying sails, would there be any way to engineer oh some sort of rapid rope lift to say get insane ifrit swashbucklers up into the upper rigging without having to have her make all those climb checks.
Anyone else have any ideas. The only other thought would be upgrading our heavy weapons. Some way to foil up sails so that we may catch up and board faster. We seem the boarding over shooting type of pirates.

I would have to say it would just be cheaper to buy/make me a Ring of Jumping!

Why do you guys keep forgetting about the rogue?
Rhialla "Buxom" Blackwater
You're a little saner
Herzag
True, but not as far as climbing and jumping off things goes.

Again with an apology. The last few days have been hectic to say the least! My Mothers cruise ship docked in Wellington on Sunday, so we had a family meal at a waterfront restaurant.
Then my brother has gone in to hospital for treatment of his irregular heartbeat. Incurred during the coughing epidemic we had a couple of months ago.
Which has left me caring for his dog as well as my father, an insane German shepherd with too much energy. (The dog, not my father.)
Thankfully his treatment worked and he's fine again, so tomorrow I will be back to having some free time and will return to the updating.
Thanks for your patience.

No worries it happens my friend. Are you wanting us to stick to strictly things that have set prices or can we ask for ideas and see what that may cost?
Herzag
And we're set! :D
Ashlei 'Burnout' Mamoud
We need to sell some stuff first before we know exactly how much we each have to spend I think.
Port Peril is probably the best place for that.
Rhialla "Buxom" Blackwater
Magically treated control device, and lets upgrade the sails to silk.
And installing Besmara's bones and the Captain’s locker
GM_DBH
Ok, sorry for the gap. Tech problems with my Mothers computer, and being busy running around in extremely hot weather has left me unable to update anything I'm GMing.
Good news is tomorrow I'm home again and things will return to normal.
My Mothers PC doesn't have anywhere to plug in flash drives? Why?

Sorry for the radio silence. Had to spend a few days in the hospital from a terrible bout of flu and dehydration. >.<
Man I hope all you guys are having better holidays than I am.
Rhialla "Buxom" Blackwater
Hope you feel better.
Ashlei 'Burnout' Mamoud
Sounds like my holiday is better than most this year. Lots to be grateful for.
=)
Take care guys! See you soon.
Herzag
All the best Percival.
Merry Christmas all!
Ashlei 'Burnout' Mamoud
OK, we have the plunder to send for the King.
We then need someone to figure out the division of loot (for the crew too) once we sell/trade what we can for what we can get for it.
Rhialla "Buxom" Blackwater
Looks like Ash is our best climber, just edging out Herzag
Percival Asploric

No worries :) I dont mind the hints and I wasnt necessarily looking for a fight. Just didnt want to look like we were punks. You know prison rules or something.
Percival Asploric

Ash is our best climber..slightly and if there is a profession sailor check she has a once a week reroll with her trait. Let's not muck up the first challenge ... I hope
Herzag
Meh, we could take him :D
Rhialla "Buxom" Blackwater
So we have 4 people with Con 14. Want to really make us look awesome? Neela can change her luck and keep it going by laughing mockingly while beating their chosen person at cards.
As an alternative Herzag has the best Fort save

I was thinking the same thing *lawls* and he never mentioned no magic so its not even cheating.
Herzag has our best perception though, counting on him to keep an eye on things to make sure they don't cheat again.
