In just a couple of hours, I'm heading out of town for my cousin's wedding. I'll be mostly out of touch until Sunday PM. When I'm able to get on, I'll have more of an opportunity to read and less to post due to the type of device I'll have with me, so feel free to bot me if I'm causing a delay.
Sorry for the delay; my level up and purchases will need to wait until I return.

Louisiana Jane |

@Niobe, Jane will make the potions. Just remove the gold from the pot. 1/3 of the base price.
Jane will be updated later tonight.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Level 11
Barbarian (Unchained, Sea Reaver)
hp 7+3 (rolled 5,+3 Constitution bonus)
Favored class bonus: +1/3 Superstition (3/3, +1 to bonus, now +7 total)
+1 BAB (now +10)
+0 Fort, +1 Ref, +1 Will
Barbarian: Savage Sailor +3
Feat: Improved Critical (Greatsword)
Skill points (3: 4 Barbarian, -1 Int): Intimidate, Perception, Stealth
Background Skills (2): Craft (ships) x2
Kung still needs to make purchases. That'll be my bedtime project tonight. I'm heading that way now, and I'll have them done and will update in the morning.
@GM, can I retrain using the rules in Ultimate Campaign? I'm thinking of retraining the Grudge Fighter feat to something else. Not sure what yet, but it would cost 550 gp and take 5 days with a trainer or 10 days without.

Yes retraining is fine. I've used it before myself. Lots of trainers in Port Peril.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Okay, Kung is going to retrain Grudge Fighter into Step Up and Strike for a cost of 550 gp. Is there a cost to hiring a trainer in Port Peril, and are we here for the 5 days required? If not, Kung can probably just as easily self-train over 10 days on the ship.
Purchases
Upgrade belt of giant strength +2 to belt of physical might (Str/Dex) +2: +6,000 gp (3,000 gp crafted?)
headband of havoc: 8,000 gp (4,000 gp crafted?)
+1 adaptive composite longbow: 3,400 gp (can only afford if he gets a crafting discount on an item above)
Niobe, can you help craft either of the first two items there to reduce Kung's cost? The belt needs cat's grace and the headband needs rage.

Louisiana Jane |

Upgrades complete.
Removed my two levels of Witch,
Discovery Fast Bomb
Feat Rapid Shot
Level 3 recipe, Protection from Arrows Communal,
Level 4 recipe, Greater Invisibility, Arcane Eye

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Awesome; thanks Niobe!
With those two items coming in at the crafted price, Kung can purchase the longbow; he'll also add 50 each of blunt and normal arrows.
Kung will also claim the +1 giant-bane arrows and the +1 monstrous-humanoid-bane arrows from the Treasure sheet in the google docs folder, unless there's an objection. There's still quite a bit of stuff listed in that sheet; we should probably give that a once-over, claim what we can use, and sell that stuff off.

Marnir Saltvig |

Not a problem, hope things are OK.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

This is a heads-up that I'm going to be traveling tomorrow through Monday (26-29 Oct) and will likely not be able to post while I'm away. Please bot me if I'm holding anything up.

Louisiana Jane |

Sorry. I have had a crazy busy week at work. Will catch up on the morrow.

Louisiana Jane |

It’s that time of the year again. お大事に (odaijini) get well soon.

Marnir Saltvig |

No worries, hope you feel better soon.

GM_DBH |

The cough I had weeks ago has lingered, I think I pulled a muscle in my ribs a week ago coughing so badly. Yesterday while coughing it went again, in exactly the same spot!
I found out even with a voice turned gravelly with coughing I could still scream in a high pitched voice from the pain. Every move was agony and I crept around the house hunched over like Gollum.
Happily there exists the wonder known as anti-inflammatory's and I'm now floating on the euphoric sensation of not being in pain.
Update soon.

Louisiana Jane |

Guys,
After thinking about this for a while. I am going to have to drop this game. Here are my reasons for this.
1. GM_DBH has on several occasions mocked my intelligence.
2. He has disregarded what I have written and ignored spells that I have casts, mainly the ghostly disguise. Completely ruining any rp that I could get out of it.
3. Recently, he has cursed at me in private messages.
4. In the last encounter he Meta-Gamed for the benefit of The Eel. This can mainly be seen, since there was no reason for the Eel to take a greater potion of invisibility. Since, at that time, the Eel didn’t know I could see invisible creatures.
5. My last few posts have been a reflection of what I read and understood from what he posted, and GM_DBH has been messaging me, basically insulting me in each one, asking me how I got to the understanding of “poisoned food“. I have been officially warned by him, but I will not stand by and take this BS from any GM.
To the rest of you, I had fun playing with you, but this GM is a pain in the arsh and I will not sit at his table anymore.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

I'm sorry that this didn't work out for you, Jane. Just a point of advice, though: it's never a good look to start fires on your way out. Not here, not anywhere.
A simple goodbye would have been sufficient.

GM_DBH |

I apologize for my part in this disruption. I did lose my cool with a player who refused to see my problems with their behavior.
Added to which we're going to have to work out what happens now? Please disregard anything Jane said on the gameplay page.
We're nearing the end of the 4th book and I don't know about you but I've found it doesn't run as well as some of the earlier books have played?
Currently we have 4 players. Barbarian with a touch of Rogue. Skald. Sorcerer and Druid. Do you want a replacement, or do you feel the party works well enough as is?

Marnir Saltvig |

It's been a little more complex story-wise than previous parts. The layers of the fort, the ghost wizard, the cyclopes, and the hags made it hard to follow at times. I've still enjoyed it though, particularly the race.
I'm happy to continue as a foursome if others are, but I'm equally happy to greet a new shipmate.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Added to the problems is the board is playing up again, several times I've posted and seen it go up, than come back and it's gone? Or just not gone up when submitted either.
This seems to be just a display problem, and not a content problem, so it's easy to work around. If you don't see your post, simply refresh the page; it usually appears on the refresh. On a couple of occasions I've had to refresh twice, but it's always shown up eventually.

This has always worked for me too.

Niobe Aptos |

The display issue seems to be some kind of weird caching problem.
I've bowed out of games before due to conflicts with the GM. (My very first PBP on the boards here, in fact, I left for that reason.) It's unfortunate but better than the alternative of sticking in a game that's a bad fit and isn't fun.
Anyway, as far as replacements, I've found that I usually have more fun with 5 people in standard APs. 4 people, the APs are usually really hard b/c you have to be exactly on the ball about covering everything you need in order to proceed, whereas with 5 players you can be a little looser in your builds or have a little overlap.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Niobe's thoughts make sense to me. We should probably try to recruit a fifth player, if it's not too much trouble.

Niobe Aptos |

Is there a particular role that anyone thinks we need to fill? We have:
Kung doing barbarian/rogue
Marnir doing skald
Maddie doing sorceress
and I'll form the druid!
We actually have a pretty strong lineup. Maybe some kind of hybrid. Bard would probably overlap poorly with skald stuff. Magus? Oracle? Some kind of wacky prestige class?

Maddie Heberne |

Ya, I think a skill monkey would be the best bet, especially someone who was good at knowledge skills. I know I took the Arcane slot and I'm not a wiznerd, but when I app for games I usually get an idea for a character for the game stuck in my head and I find it really hard to switch gears.

Marnir Saltvig |

A skilled character would be very welcome, some skills are at a premium among our current group. As much as I like bards I'm not sure how well they overlap with skalds. I suspect that inspire courage and the like would work excellently but a lot of the non-combat stuff would be very similar.
Investigators are amazeballs, they're like rogue+++. I'd happily play alongside an investigator in any game. I've got a 4th level investigator (empiricist) in PFS and he's great.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

It's important to point out that Kung is not much of a rogue at all. I took a couple of levels to get some class abilities that improve his mobility on a ship (Pirate archetype). He's got no skill with traps and his sneak attack is feeble compared to the overwhelming damage output of KUNG SMASH.
Investigator seems like a really strong option, especially as the class really comes online late, so we don't have to muddle through the early levels where they can be a little weak.

Maddie Heberne |

Given the added power of a witch, we might just end up dealing with traps the old fashioned way...or if worst comes to worst, I can change make a different character (I know, I know, but if the witch wants to be a more traditional arcane character, I am happy to switch out...not that I hate Maddie by any means. I just want to put the option on the table.)

Marnir Saltvig |

We could just use Kung as our trap-finder - he could find them with his face!

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

He would be quite good at that!
And I don't want to mislead; he does actually have a rank in the skill, so he can attempt the check. He doesn't have the trapfinding class ability, though, so magical traps are completely beyond him.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

We're approaching Thanksgiving here in America, so this is an early heads-up that I won't be available starting Wed afternoon through Sunday evening. I won't have access to either my home or work computers, so I don't expect to be able to post at all during my absence. Please bot me as needed!

GM_DBH |

Sorry all. I"m too busy to update today.
My mother is leaving tomorrow to take a nice cruise around New Zealand for two or so weeks. I'm heading to my parents house to care for my Father while she's away. So I've spent most of the day getting my stuff ready and preparing things while I'm away.
Once I'm there tomorrow I should be able to resume posting properly, thankfully my mother has stayed up to date with technology and has a PC of her own.
