Man, I've played an Orc bloodline sorcerer a few times, but I haven't ever seen Touch of Rage be as useful as it has been. Typically, there's only one melee character in games (often it's me), so having multiple buff targets is nice.
Touch of rage is great. I normally don't go for buffs that don't stack with others well, but +5 is a big enough effect that I don't mind it washing away heroism for a round here or there.

Louisiana Jane |

Jane will take the “Potion of neutralize poison” and distill it on the ship to learn how to make more. Unless we use it before we are back on the ship.

Marnir Saltvig |

Just a heads-up that I'm going away for four days after work this evening so my posting might be a bit spotty. I'll try to keep up with things while I'm away but normal posting will resume on Monday.

Louisiana Jane |

Guys... I am currently updating my latest game, getting it ready to be shipped out to LA for a game con. Gateway. I am super busy with making sure its ready to go at the end of this week.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Unfortunately, if we're going to teleport, we have to split the party.
I was really referring to Niobe's suggestion to stay behind while the rest of us sail to Port Peril in the Drake, though I'm not sure that teleporting is a great idea either, as it still splits us, just for a shorter period of time.

Louisiana Jane |

Been crazy busy this past week with work. Just now being able to read and see whats going on.

Louisiana Jane |

Get better soon.. We don't want a TPK.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

This is unfortunate timing with the revival of the forums, but I am heading into the woods for the weekend to go float down a river. I won't be back until Sun PM, so expect regular posting from me to resume again on Monday.

Louisiana Jane |

I’ll be gone from next Wednesday to Sunday. Summer trip to Okinawa.

Louisiana Jane |

This site sucks sometimes. I am heading to the airport now to take a weekend trip to Okinawa before my Kickstarter. I will try and post each day to keep up.

Marnir Saltvig |

I'm off on holiday for a week and a bit tomorrow so my posting might become a little patchy.
Apologies in advance, feel free to bot me if needed.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

So we should probably figure out where we want to go with here regarding the new ship. It sounds like it might be a good upgrade, if we were to transfer the old upgrades to the new ship (at least, as many as can be transferred). The $$ could also be nice for our PCs.

Marnir Saltvig |

My only reservation is that it probably looks a lot like a Chelish warship. I suspect it'd take some epic squibbing to make it look less suspicious. That said, it probably does represent a significant upgrade over the Drake and would be more fitting for our new status.
If we can transfer over the upgrades from the Drake and get it squibbed at a reasonable rate, then I'd be keen to keep it.

GM_DBH |

It's always going to look like a Man-o-war, but there are other navies around. So squibbing it is possible, and there are other Chelaxian ships being proudly sailed around the Shackles by other pirates. :)
Squibbing would be about the same as it was for your original ship. Squibbing doesn't change the bodywork, it's adjusting the fittings to change the ships lines, changing the figure head and other cosmetic work.
As for the upgrades she comes with a few already.
Broad Rudder.
Extended Keel.
Ram.
Silk Sails.
Sturdy Hull.
What else is there to move from the Drake?

Marnir Saltvig |

Looks like just the figurehead (which should be easy enough to swap out) and the loss of the smuggling compartments but we can always get some of those built in.
Then we can get a new figurehead for the former Drake and add it to our fleet.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Didn't we have a magical ship's wheel too?

GM_DBH |

I've checked the fleet sheet. You have two ships under you, so yes Sandara can be given your old ship.
She's delighted and nearly dancing with excitement, but remembers just how many ships in the Shackles are named for Besmara and now she has to come up with a name that isn't already in use. :)
Plenty of sailors hanging around Rickety's Squibs looking for a berth, with your reputation getting crew is easy, though with two ships to fill and one being a big beast you're still a little undermanned. It might pay to stop off at a nearby port for some more scum.

Marnir Saltvig |

We can detour somewhere for crew before we take on the smuggler.
No worries, hope you feel better soon.

Checking the loot I found it hasn't been updated since last year?
I've put together a rough treasure sheet of things from this book, some of which I believe you already have. Treasure
Mark off anything you already have, I'll sell the rest and give you your cash to spend.
Since we're in a slow period and it's close to the finish you can all level up to 11th as well. :)

Marnir Saltvig |

That can't be right. But then I count at least 6 different loot/treasure documents so who knows.
Looking at the treasure list (thanks GM) the only thing I can see that Marnir has had is a headband of alluring charisma +2.
Of the things remaining, my only real interest would be in the ring of protection +3. We should keep the bag of holding and the potions as party loot.
I'll get my levelling done ASAP.

Marnir Saltvig |

HP: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Skald (Dragon Skald) 11
HP - 5+2(Con)+1(FC)
Skill points - Acrobatics, Bluff, Intimidate, Knowledge (arcana), Perception

Favoured class bonus - HP
Spells per day - +1 3rd level, +1 4th level
Spells known - +1 4th level (dimension door), swap out jester's jaunt for dispel magic
BAB +8/+3, base saves Fort +7 Ref +3 Will +7
Raging Song +2 rounds
Spell Kenning 2/day

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

I made a couple of notes in that sheet about the items that Kung has; I'm not sure if the items in the sheet are from earlier, though, so I linked to the posts where Kung claimed what he has, so that you can confirm if they're from the same encounter.
Kung would also be interested in the ring +3, but will defer to his captain on that.
Let's keep at least some of the two bane arrows. I think Kung might purchase a composite longbow that can take advantage of his strength. It will help when we encounter fliers.
I have a houseguest through the weekend, so won't be able to level Kung up until after they leave. I may not get to it until early next week. I'll roll for hp now, though.
hit points: 1d12 ⇒ 5 (7 it is, then)

Louisiana Jane |

Jane will take the Gaseous scroll, the Heroism and Neutralize Poison. Then she will learn the Scroll and distill the other two to learn the recipes. These are now new potions that Jane can make.
Health: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Niobe Aptos |

Wow, druid 11... 6th level spells, that's fearsome!
+1 BAB
+7 hit points
+1 3th-level and 6th-level spell per day
Skills: +1 each of: Heal, Knowledge (nature), Knowledge (religion), Perception, Spellcraft, Swim; Perform (sing), Profession (sailor)
And that's it!
DERP! Need a feat. Boys & girls, should I get Craft Wondrous Item or Craft Magic Arms & Armor, or something more pedestrian like Spell Penetration?

Marnir Saltvig |

Oh yeah, a feat! Thanks Niobe, completely forgot about that.
The crafting feats are essentially exchanging feat slots for gold, which is worth it sometimes and not so much other times. Spell Penetration is good as this is the level where I suspect we'll starting coming up against SR more regularly. It really depends what kind of caster you want to be.
I'll take Reckless Rage which adds another -1 to hit while raging but adds 3 more damage.
I'll add my updated stats spoiler here for later.
HP 101/101
AC 23, touch 13, flat-footed 23 (+8 armour, +1 deflection, +2 Dex, +1 dodge, +1 natural armour)
Speed: 30ft haste
Fort: +12, Ref: +8, Will: +12 (+4 vs fear)
Conditions: None
Melee attack (+1 furious battleaxe): +10/+5 (+8 BAB, +4 Str, +1 enhancement, -3 Power Attack)
Melee Damage (+1 furious battleaxe): d8+15 (+6 Str, +1 enhancement, +2 Arcane Strike, +9 Power Attack)
26/26 rds raging song remaining

Marnir Saltvig |

Awesome, thanks GM.
Now to work out how to spend the best part of 20000gp!

GM_DBH |

Just to let everyone know I'm not quite dead. I've had a nasty cold the last two weeks and it hammered me this weekend.
I'm sleeping for a few hours, coughing myself awake. Sitting around staring miserably at anything I can find to distract myself for an hour or two. Then falling asleep again.
So no update tonight, and Tuesday is looking grim as well.

Marnir Saltvig |

Hope you feel better soon GM, sounds like you've had a rough time of it.
No worries about the update, gives us more time to sort out shopping.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Yup, and the GameDay VII event in PFS just switched over from session 1 to session 2, so I have a ton of chronicle sheets to apply, including some level ups. I don't mind a little breather at all.

Niobe Aptos |

** spoiler omitted **
Item creation feats have two additional benefits:
1. Access to items you can't otherwise find for purchase (too rare or expensive).2. Making items at unusual caster levels (like a potion or wand at a higher caster level).
One nice thing about sailing around on a ship all day is that I can do part-time creation and rack up effectively 2 hours' worth of creation time every day. If we spend two weeks sailing somewhere, that's 14 days x 2 hours/day = 28 effective hours of creation = Just over 3 effective 8-hour days of item crafting.
Sadly we are at the level where getting stuff up to +3 or +4 would take so many days that I'd have to put a significant amount of effort into it, but the possibility is there.

You make good points. Crafting creates a lot of flexibility, especially as we have a lot of travel time. I suspect that with the proper set up you'd get away with the full 8 hours per day if all we're doing is travelling.
My shopping list at this time is incredibly unimaginative:
Upgrade +2 mithril breastplate to +3 - 5000gp
Upgrade amulet of natural armour +1 to +2 - 6000gp
Buy lesser extend metamagic rod - 3000gp
Leaves me with 5744gp spare.

Marnir Saltvig |

Awesome, thanks Niobe! I knew there was a reason we hired you!
That cuts my expenditure down to 11000gp, leaving me 8744gp to spend.
I'm really bad at coming up with stuff to buy. Anyone got any good suggestions?

Niobe Aptos |

Marnir Saltvig |

That's a great list, thanks Niobe. I can't believe I forgot the circlet of persuasion. That's 4500gp well spent, I'll have one of those.
Leaves me 4244gp.

Louisiana Jane |

I’ll be upgraded in 24 hours. Then shopping, anything good for the ships alchemy lab?
