Sorry for delay on my part. Had a big presentation today for a potential client and kiddo's birthday was over the weekend.

Talvek Drassed wrote:
As they walk out, he mutters. "Hope Marquel is safe here." But the idea of rest is a sound one, although they still need to cross the bridge, unless... "A- I mean, yawn. Finch, you have a place to crash on this side of the river? And if so, can I tag along? I don't know how much longer I can stomach to pretend I'm a good citizen to cross that damnable bridge."

It took Aldren a minute to remember which side of the river they were on. He was about to suggest the Wasp Nest, but then he realized that was the opposite side of the city. So, without thinking, he nodded, "Aye, nice place, comfortable beds, they've been letting me stay for free."

He was about to expand on the precise nature of his arrangement when the details came vividly back to his memory, briefly banishing his exhaustion and making him focus a bit more on Talvek. While the Calistrian was quite beyond shame or embarrassment, he knew the same wasn't true for the occasionally awkward tiefling. And, though he rarely practiced it, he had been taught the value of being circumspect. "The owner's been quite kind to me and values discretion. I'm sure finding a bed or two during the mid-day shouldn't be a problem."

He then glanced at Lubella, then back at Talvek and shrugged. "It's up to you. I'm not sleeping in another basement or stable if I can help it, though."

"That sounds lovely, even if they don't let me stay for free. I'm just tired of sleeping rough. I'll grab a change of clothes on the way as well." Talvek yawns again, pulling at his not-too-clean garments. "Shall we all get some rest and then... what's the plan? Finish clearing our future headquarters? Look for the prodigal gentleman-scholar again?" He is careful not to name any names or places, not in public.

The odor of horses, hay and whatever else they had dealt with the previous night still hung about Aldren, too, and he resolved to invest in some cologne at the earliest opportunity. Though a bath may be in order, too. I'm sure Giveni can arrange that. As for what to do when they awoke...

"I think the scholar may need to be our focus. If his plan goes awry, it puts everything at risk. Even dead, he could be made to talk." He rubbed his face and sighed. "Though I'm somewhat at a loss as to what else we can try to find him."

There's a serial killer, too, IIRC, but that's frankly lower on Aldren's personal priority list right now.

Lubella starts to finally feel well from the nasty bite infection as you rest during the day after your long night in the Greens stable.

The night of Kintargo greets you as you recover from your fatigue. More sleep does not sound bad. Although there is still the issue of the missing Rexis, the rumors of the Slasher, and of course, the vaults beneath the not so Lucky Bones.

But you also have a list of allies growing, if they can be trusted. The Captain being the most recent, but also the Order of the Torrent and your own small teams.

The New Silver Ravens are becoming a force and word on the street spreads like wildfire.

What was Captain Sargaeta's reaction when Lubella asked him about the halfling crew members? Long-term, she wants to negotiate their freedom (if they are in fact slaves); trying to get a sense of what would be involved. Perhaps using a favor?

Lubella made her way to the Tooth and Nail, choosing a quiet time to check in with Setrona, and ask about resting during the day, "We slept in less than ideal circumstances last night, so we need to catch up on our rest. Our expedition was a resounding success, so it was well worth it."

Later, she headed over to the Owl Bakery for some pastries, and talked with Julessa. "We rescued those boys that were missing — they were being held by some horrible cultists who were intending to sacrifice them to their dark god. Their group is no more, so the streets should be safer now.

"We haven't come up with any more leads on Rexus; I don't suppose you've heard anything?"

Other than that, Lubella had an uneventful day, recuperating from the flurry of activity the previous day and night.

If we can't rest at the Tooth and Nail during the day, she'll see if we could use the back room at the Owl Bakery. The intent is to stay on this side of the river in any case. Hopefully sleeping at the Tooth and Nail overnight.

GM:
Based on what you’ve written in the last and in the interest of expediency/time, I hope it’s okay but I’m going to take some minor liberties here on NPCs and the scene.

After they made arrangements to regroup after some rest, Aldren led Talvek to Jarvis End and the Three-Legged Devil. On the walk over, the half-elf gently observed, ”This place isn’t an inn, you realize. The beds are somewhat incidental to the rest of the business. If we’re separated and anyone makes you uncomfortable, just say you’re with me.”

Once they arrived, Aldren used the same back entrance he had before, greeting Giveni with an uncharacteristic deference and respect. He introduced Talvek to the proprietor as a friend named Jackdaw. Once inside, there was a large great room that was a mix of parlor, saloon and dance hall, but the rest of the place was a warren of rooms, alcoves and niches. Though the hour was still early, a musician was playing a lively tune on a lute and several customers were dancing and flirting with the staff, who were mostly compromised of relatively attractive women dressed in suggestive but not outrageous garments.

”Giveni, we are in desperate need of some basic comforts. Could I bother you for a couple of hot baths, soap, towels, maybe some lavender? No extra services I think. Then some beds?” Aldren slipped a pair of gold coins into the other man’s hand.

”Of course, Aldren. You needn’t pay, but I’ll give these to the girls.”

Aldren then turned back to Talvek and said, ”We’ll sleep better with this grime and stench off us. It will take a few minutes though. Get yourself something to drink; I’ll be right back.” The half-elf then proceeded to discretely stop and talk with each of the dance hall’s staff, exchange some whispered words and, when out of view, healed even the slightest of injuries. There was a gentleness and intimacy in the half-elf's interactions that he rarely showed with the Ravens, yet there was still something that set him apart from the others, like that of a priest taking confession or a princeling with his subjects. Never quite at home.

He returned just as Giveni announced the baths were ready, and Aldren led Talvek upstairs, down a hall, and through a door to a room with two copper claw-footed tubs. Sheers were drawn over the windows for privacy while still letting in some light, and lamps lit the rest of the room. Heavy drapes hung where there were no windows, a curious design choice that soften the room and sound.

Aldren’s usual lack of self-consciousness returned and he immediately slipped out of his clothes while talking, ”Usually there is someone to wash you and provide ‘other services’ here,” it was an interesting euphemism, ” but I thought that might be more attention than you wanted.” The half-elf then slid into one of the copper tubs, hardly glancing at the tiefling to afford him some measure of privacy. After letting himself luxuriate in the warm water scented with lavender, he eventually took to using some soap and cleaning himself.

As Aldren disappears for a few moments, Talvek remains standing awkwardly in the main room, not quite knowing what to do with his hands or where to look... or not look. He was intensely curious about this establishment and the people who worked here, but before mustering the courage to ask some questions, the Calistrian reappeared and they were off to wash the accumulated dirt and grime of the last few days.

The tiefling sets aside his dirty clothes and stretches before getting into the tub, working out the kinks in his sore muscles. Climbing up and down buildings wasn't something he was much used to, and his shoulders, arms and hands were cramping and painful. "Thank you for bringing me here. I... had an idea of what this place was, and I confess my curiosity. It's, um, mostly women though." He trails off awkwardly, leaning forward and industriously scrubbing a leg while avoiding eye contact.

"Mmm hmm," was Aldren's initial, simple response as he washed his face. Then, "Mostly, yes. I hope it isn't a disappointment; Giveni runs a fairly 'classic' establishment. There are more men at night but frankly, it's difficult to hire men who can do this work; we tend to be selfish, lacking in subtlety and not client-focused."

He was about to expound on the differences between a 'dance hall' and a temple of Calistria when he looked over at Talvek, noticed a return of the typical awkwardness, and the intense focus on cleaning what by then had to be a perfectly filth-free leg. While Aldren was usually quite skilled at reading others, the tiefling's sudden interest the last hour had confounded him. That he'd sworn to himself to avoid even the appearance of manipulating Talvek further complicated things.

"You have more courage, strength and skill than nearly all in this city, but when it comes to words, you hesitate," he observed softly. "I know I can be 'intemperate' but I hope you know I'll never judge you. You can ask me whatever you want, anytime."

If it was possible for the ruddy-skinned tiefling to turn even redder, that was happening now. "Ah, um, thank you for being understanding with me. It's... a stupid thing, really, and now is not the time, we have far more pressing matters to attend to." He fumbles with the washcloth before finally sighing and glancing over at Aldren.

"I've just been wondering, what it would be like... with men, I mean. Not that I have a lot of experience with women, but I grew up surrounded by them and they were sisters and mothers and aunts, it just feels... wrong? to think of them that way. You know what I mean?"

Talvek's glance was met with an intense cerulean gaze. Aldren listened to every word. Truthfully, he still didn't quite understand the familial bonds Talvek had with his family but he was intimately familiar with other affairs of the heart and how confusing they could be. And, he remembered the scene in the cellar of Longroad's Coffee when Aldren -- trying to run a shameless bluff on some dottari -- had kissed the tiefling and been surprised to find it returned. If it hadn't been for his nagging guilt at having been such a bastard... Ah hells, Aldy, get over it.

The half-elf's eyes never left Talvek's as he stood from his tub, grabbed a towel, and wrapped it around his waist. Grabbing another for Talvek, he crossed over to the other bath and held out a hand. "Let me show you."

Trying to be mindful of keeping this PG and not boring/nauseating our fellow players. :)

@ Talvek:
If Talvek accepted, Aldren was a little off his game, but by most objective measures, it was an amazing time. Knowing this was a new experience for Talvek, Aldren took the lead but was entirely focused on Talvek, helping him relax, lose some of his inhibitions, finding what Talvek enjoyed, and focusing on satisfying that before falling asleep.

@Lubella. The slaves are violinist Hopgut, tailor Make-Way, and cook
Wencella—who are treated quite well and have no ambitions of freedom that you can tell.

Flashback to the Captain...

While I am not sure any of the three are interested in leaving my service, and prior to your success, I would have hesitated to even consider it. But as a favor to you, I can see to the legal matter of their official release if it is important to you.

Captain Cassius will release them as one of the favors.

***

Once you are all rested and trained in your respective skills and abilities, you are back to considering your next play on the grand stage.

While the Tooth and Nail is not available for sleeping, and other arrangements were made, the owner of the Owl Bakery, Julessa, provides a bit of information to Lubella.

Thanks for all you have done to rescue those boys from that vile cult. she pauses, considering her next statement.

I have a friend I will have meet you back at the Tooth and Nail. I think he may have information useful to your cause.

***

Back at the tavern, your group re-assembles late morning of the next day to discuss next steps for the Silver Ravens 2.0.

As you speak, a hooded man enters the place.
His countenance doesn’t particularly inspire trust at first glance.

But once seated, he removes the hood and gloves and you recognize the tiefling tailor, Hetamon.

Greetings. I apologize for the disguise, but I prefer to go
about the city in a hood to hide my horns, and wears gloves
and other bulky clothes to disguise the strange color of
my skin.

Setrona nods and speaks up.

Indeed. Hetamon is a friend mine and well trusted. as she moves to introduce her guest.

Hetamon settles into a cozy corner of the room where
the discussion won’t be easily overheard,

I am here, based on recommendation of our mutual friend, Julessa.
As the leader of the Rose of Kintargo, and the faithful of Milani, we are ready to aid the Silver Ravens.
he lets that sink in.

We ask for no payment or reward, as service to Milani
demands the support of any legitimate rebellion such
as the Silver Ravens, but as worshipers we ourselves
cannot be directly associated with rebels.

He looks with solemn face.

Instead, we can work to keep the government distracted from the
Silver Ravens, and when the time to fight is nigh, we will
emerge from our hideouts throughout the city to aid
directly. You are rapidly gaining the full attention and ire of the Thrunes, although he does not admit it openly.

Hetamon pauses again. Of our order, I am the only exception, and I ask to
join the Silver Ravens as an ally in your cause. I have heard rumors of some of things you have accomplished in a few short weeks. Including rescue of the Knights and others, more recently, from cultists.

He looks to each of you.

If you agree, I will do my part to aid you and your cause. But I will ask a favor in return. But I need to know before I continue.

Earlier...

Lubella replied to Captain Sargaeta, "It's not a matter of whether they would want to leave your service; it's about them knowing that they have a choice. But I must speak with my comrades before formally asking this favor of you. I can't speak for the Silver Ravens without discussing it with them first."

***
Lubella felt some unease when the hooded stranger entered the Tooth and Nail, but was quickly reassured when it became clear that this was the friend that Julessa had talked about. She listened to the tiefling and his offer of the aid of the Rose of Kintargo. Her discussions with Julessa had convinced her that the faithful of Milani would be natural allies for the Silver Ravens.

"The time is not yet right to openly challenge Barzillai Thrune. We must first win the support of the ordinary citizens of Kintargo, by working for their welfare. We welcome allies who seek to better life in the city.

"I trust Julessa's judgement, and I for one would be happy to invite you into the Silver Ravens. What is the favor that you ask?"

Before rejoining the others, Talvek might have seen Aldren do his daily prayers, which were done silently and largely unmarkable until the end. The half-elf gasped softly, as if stung, but then whispered in Elven, "Thank you, my Lady. I endeavor to be worthy of your gifts." If asked, he explained Calistria seemed to have granted him the ability to pray for more miracles.

Aldren also would have checked on Talvek to see if he'd slept well. And, before leaving, he expressed his gratitude to Giveni and insisted the proprietor ask if there was anything the cleric could ever do to help.

==At the Tooth and Nail==

Morning or not, Aldren was sipping some ale when Hetamon arrived and was introduced. He had a passing familiarity with Milanites from his brief association with -- and respect for -- Julessa, and a passing familiarity with their creed. Some of their respective goddesses' interests occasionally overlapped; Aldren appreciated the average Milanite's willingness to engage in violence, even if he thought their goals were still hopelessly idealistic.

"If Julessa vouches for you, that's good enough for me. And as a member of another of the banned faiths, I empathize with your situation." As for the favor, he nodded in agreement with Lubella's request he explain the nature of it.

Last night

Aldren and Talvek:

There is not much new in the way of rumors
"Yep. We heard another murder victim was discovered last night somewhere near the south wall in Old Kintargo, slashed up the same
way Professor Mangvhune carved up his victims back in the day... makes you wonder!”

“The Silver Ravens are attracting all sorts of strange attention—I heard that Thrune even hired a Tian specialist of
some sort to help track them down!”

***

Hetaman nods to Lubella.

Correct. It is not yet time to challenge the Thrunes. Their grip on the city is too strong yet. More must be done to weaken them. But there are other forces in the city which also seek to be free of the iron fist. Some may ally with us, as you have found. Others, well, they seek only their own ends. But even those will weaken or distract Barzillai's dottari.

He replies to the men.

So if it is agreed. My favor is this....

He first asks Perhaps you have heard rumors of the murders that have plagued Kintargo of late?

He pauses.

Of the Slasher, the latest victim was one of my own flock, a relatively new worshiper of Milani who missed an appointment with me the
night before.
with a heavy sigh.

Hetamon, somberly.

I went to investigate early this
morning, only to discover the missing worshiper’s body
in a dreadful state. Not trusting city officials to do more
than abscond with the evidence, I had the dead
worshiper returned to my shop, where the remains wait
until I can arrange for a proper burial.

A look of grave concern covers Hetamon's face.

If you can track down this murderer
and stop them or at the very least expose them so that the
city government is forced to act, you would not only prevent
further bloodshed, but you will also bolster the rebellion’s
reputation among the people.
The people fear to go out of their houses while these murders occur. The dottari have no need to investigate since the fears only help them control the crowds.

Lubella replied to Hetamon, "Yes, we have heard of those murders. Have you examined the body in detail? If so, were any of the teeth missing? We tracked down and eliminated a gang of Tooth Fairies that killed several people in the Hell's Nursery a few weeks ago.

"We will certainly deal with this new killer. Do you know how many victims there's been, and where they were found?

"It would also be helpful if we could examine the body."

After discussing the Slasher, she asked the tiefling tailor, "I was wondering if you could help us with something. One of the Silver Ravens is missing, and we're wondering if you might have seen him. His name is Rexus Victocora; he's a young human man, with a short, slight build, and brown hair with a goatee. He likes to wear fine clothes: a tailored coat, polished boots and a cane. When Talvek mentioned he, too, was a worshipper of Milani, Aldren was a little surprised. How did this never come up with Julessa? Or did I just miss it? Some collector of secrets you are, Aldy. Despite the gravity of the rest of the conversation, he couldn't help but mentally chuckle at himself.

Turning back to more pressing business, Aldren sighed inwardly as the topic of the damnable murders came up again. It's a city. Someone is always killing someone. But now that dead-someone was close to someone we want to be close to, so here we go...

"Ah, Kyda, on the whole tooth-faerie angle-- Jackdaw and I were asking around earlier and found a couple pieces of information. One I think he can share with you later, but the other is the slashings seem to resemble an old serial murderer named Professor Mangvhune. I doubt we're dealing with tooth faeries, and it might be worth a little research on this professor and those past murders, see if there are some hints or patterns we can use to track down this one."

He then took another sip of ale and peered into the mug appreciatively. Caydenites might be on to something after all.

Talvek looks somber at the mention of the murders. "This was quite high on my list to investigate, personally." The tiefling nods at Aldren. "The connection with the professor did come to my attention. Unless he has been resurrected or we're talking a sentient undead of some sort, it cannot be the same person. The original Mangvhune was executed a hundred and sixteen years ago, an he was human as far as I know, so even if the execution would not have happened he would still be dead. My theory is that we are dealing with someone who is copying the professor's methods, I don't know to what end. But yes, it is a wise idea to research those murders more, they might give us clues about the current murderer. And investigating the body might also help."

I believe we already spotted the Tian agent.

Hetaman considers the questions.

Aye, I know Rexus and his family. A true shame what happened to his parents. They were good people and customers both.
But my sources tell me he went off the deep end. Sick with revenge. And went straight to the castle to take it up with the Thrunes personally. I fear he may be out of reach. No telling what they may have done to him. But I will send word and see if I can garner more information on your aristocratic friend.

He shrugs.

Until, I have something that we can do now. I unfortunately have
very little experience with investigating,
tracking down, and confronting murderers, and with your recent experiences and successes, my hope is on the lot of you. If you can, I am willing to escort you back to my shop, the Devil’s Threads, to
allow you to investigate our dead Milanite for clues or whatever you can do. This is not my specialty.

At this terrible news, Lubella let loose a string of Kelish swear-words. After she had finished bemoaning Rexus' foolishness, she collected her wits and said to Hetamon, "Yes, please try to find out for sure if he's imprisoned in the castle, and if possible where he's being held. We're going to have to get him out of there before they get too much information out of him."

She took a moment to go through in her mind what Rexus would know about their present situation. She said to the assembled group, "Rexus knew that we were planning to break the Order of the Torrent Armigers out of the Holding House, and he also knew that we were here at the Tooth and Nail. I don't think that we told him that Octavio is here now. And I don't think that he knows about the Lucky Bones.

"Finch, tomorrow we should scan for his cane in the castle area, on the off chance that he hasn't been captured yet. If he has been captured, there's no way to know for sure if he would have the cane with him, or if they'd have taken it from him."

When Hetaman revealed the fate of their hapless scholar, Aldren's expression was flat with only the slightest twitch of displeasure in his lips. Hells-cursed, incompetent fool should have stuck with his books, the thought dripped with venom.

He let his own rage and frustration churn and roil within him while Hetamon continued to speak. When Lubella spoke his code-name, he was startled out of his thoughts. "I could do it now. I prayed for that and a couple other miracles that could help. In fact, I will cast one before we leave. It won't help if what Hetamon says is true, but could help confirm Rexus is unable or unwilling to return to us. And if he is captured, it may remind him he is not alone." The last was phrased for the mixed company he was keeping. In truth, he wanted nothing other than for Rexus to stay silent; he cared not about the man's peace of mind -- or even his life -- any longer. He'd become a dangerous and recurrent liability, leeching the Ravens' time and resources.

As for the codename, he looked at Hetamon and Setrona. "We have been watched in the past. As they have friends and families to protect, we've adopted pseudonyms. I--," he considered his phrasing so as to not infuse it with ill-timed bitterness, "am not so burdened. So, while we're in private, you can call me Aldren." The gesture may have been impulsive, but as some allies were slipping away, the Calistrian thought a show of trust with new allies was a risk worth taking.

"Now, excuse me a moment, I need to pray to the Lady in the Room." He stood, leaving his mug on the table, and crossed to a quiet corner where he withdrew his holy symbol -- still a simple affair crafted from wood -- and began to pray.

In Elven:
"Mistress, our scholar, Rexus of House Victocora, has disappeared in an ill-planned quest for vengeance. He is a fool and his impulsiveness endangers us, but his heart is in the right place. Lend me your aid and send a hand to guide him back to us."

Talvek is surprised at Aldren's calm at the news, considering how vocal the Calistrian had been in the past about Rexus's foolishness. There is one thing that he cannot let go, however. As the half-elf begins to rise for his prayer, he places a hand on his forearm gently, murmuring, "I know that your family it is indeed a burden to you, and worse. But I hope you know that you do have friends, and that not all families are like that."

Turning to the others, he speaks a little louder. "We must consider this location compromised. We should not return here, so that Setrona is not at further risk. For now, we can investigate this latest murder, and then set up our new headquarters."

Lubella hoped that no-one present could understand Kelish, given her outburst of foul language a moment ago. She replied to Talvek, "I agree, and we'll have to relocate Octavio and the Armigers sooner than we'd planned."

Not sure if the Order of the Torrent is present at this meeting, or in another room.

She talked to Octavio and explained the situation to him. "What do you know about the layout of Kintargo Castle? Do can an idea about where Rexus would likely be held, and what the security procedures would likely be? It would be best if we could rescue him before they have more time to question him.

"We have to assume that the dottari could raid the Tooth and Nail. I'm wondering if we should move you and the Armigers to the Lucky Bones right away. We haven't opened the sealed door yet, so it ought to be fairly safe."

Have we rested and regained spells at this point?

Having only ever found friendship and acceptance in his faith, Aldren's first instinct was to scour Talvek's face and words for any sense as to why he would say such a ludicrous thing. A joke? A lie? When he saw only complete sincerity, the Calistrian -- who was always ready with a quip or joke -- found himself momentarily speechless. After a long pause, he squeezed Talvek's hand appreciatively. "Thank you." He truly wasn't sure what else to say, but he did find his rage towards Rexus suddenly dulled.

After he had called for the spectral hand and saw it dart off in search of its target, he came back and heard discussion about locations being compromised. "The teams should evacuate the Wasp Nest, too, and our hostess warned. Can you send one of those figurines? But they'll need to know to either head to Lucky Bones, or we'll need a signal or way to regroup."

Lubella nodded and replied to Aldren, "I'll send a raven. I'll have to swing by the Wasp's Nest later today and pass on the instructions to get into the Lucky Bones. I don't know that I want to send that information in a note."

She took out a piece of paper and wrote a message to Laria:

R may have been captured. Will have to move HQ to new location. Tell teams to stand by — will be over soon with instructions. -Kyda

She folded up the note and tied it to her Silver Raven figurine, then prepared to release it.

Hetamon awaits the party to complete their activities.

Moving your base of operations to someplace more clandestine and defensible is definitely warranted. You have been gaining the notice of powerful enemies about as fast as you are finding allies. Unfortunately, rebellions take time to build, and the overlords of this city have the upper hand. At least for now. Please take what precautions you must, and just let me know if you are able to accompany me back to my shop.

Until summoned by his cousin to join the conversation, Octavio has been reluctant to be seen by the stranger.

Aye, we are in no position to attempt a rescue if your friend is indeed held in the Castle. And you can take this from the leader of an order that specializes in rescuing captives. And one that knows even some of the defenses of that keep.

With seriousness, he sits down at a table and creates a crude model from mugs and dishes.

The keep's five-storey spire juts from the north-western corner of the castle and serves as Kintargo's strongest prison.
Solidly built, its central staircase connects five storeys of prison above ground as well as a near-forgotten dungeon level below. Each layer has over a dozen different cells to contain prisoners and the dungeon also includes four lightless oubliettes.

He moves a few more pieces.

The Order of the Rack has reportedly been added to guard the Keep. However, that is not the worst of it. There are reportedly undead guardians and one that is rumored to be a ghost.

Lubella reported Octavio's knowledge of the castle to her team-mates, "It doesn't sound very encouraging, does it? Breaking the Order of the Torrent Armigers out of the Holding House was one thing, but this is on a wholly different level. We would need very specific information before we could even attempt a rescue. Still, you might as well try your scan Finch. Let's find out what we can."

She had a sinking feeling that getting Rexus out of the castle was not something they could do right away. The idea of leaving him there to suffer was abhorrent, but getting her friends killed in a futile rescue attempt would be worse. Why couldn't you have just talked to us, Rexus?

She spoke with Hetamon again, "I think we need to move our people from the Tooth and Nail right away. Can we meet you at your shop in two or three hours? Or would it be better if we sent someone with you?"

After consulting with the leader of the Rose of Kintargo, she explained the danger to Setrona, "We have to assume that our enemies will learn of our presence here, if they haven't already. We should leave no sign of Octavio's presence here, or of the other Armigers. Please take what precautions you feel advisable for your personal safety. We'll touch base with you later today. For now, I'd appreciate a small supply of food for your cousin and his crew."

She advised Octavio's Amigers of the need to move to the new base, and helped them to pack up their belongings.

Hetamon nods.

Very well. You know the way. No one else have I trusted to this information, so be discrete. Good luck moving your teams.

With that, the tailor stands, replaces his hood and cloak and with a bow, departs back to his shop.

(the rest of you cannot see it). It departs...but other than that you have no information from it, and maybe not for 4-5 hours.
If Aldren wants to perform another scan of the castle he can. Just realize there are the limitations to how far the spell can reach and penetrate...if the target is even within it.

As Octavio recounted the prison layout and likely defenses, Aldren kept his thoughts to himself. They were all retrospective and unhelpful in plotting a future path.

Lubella conferred with Arldren, working out the security challenge procedure for the new headquarters, and setting a temporary password. After making sure everyone knew the password, she said, "I'll take Octavio's team to the Lucky Bones. I wouldn't mind some help disposing of the bodies, if someone else would like to come with me. We'll meet Finch and Jackdaw at the Devil's Threads."

She gathered up a days worth of food and water for the Order of the Torrent, doling it out to the individual members to carry, along with their gear and bedrolls. "We'll have to buy you some more supplies to make you comfortable. It'll be a bit rustic at first." After a half and hour of hurriedly gathering things together, she was finally ready to depart.

There'll be some shopping for plates, cutlery, cups, lanterns, oil, buckets and initial cleaning supplies. Planning on buying more food supplies and cooking gear later in the day. It's possible that the cultists may have had some of these items at their headquarters.

Aldren's enchanted helping hand runs off but never returns. He and Sidius make their way across the Bleakbridge to the Longroads Coffee and the shrine and teams below. Laria is glad to see them, anticipating the chance for any news on Rexus or the rebeliion. She ushers them downstairs.

When Lubella and the Order of the Torrent reached the ruins of the Lucky Bones, she showed them hidden trap door in the largest of the ruined fireplaces. "I have to warn you, the chamber at the bottom of the stairs absolutely reeks! Hopefully no new Otyughs have moved into the trash area."

She climbed down, leading them past the trash piles and dead Otyughs. "These are the first of the bodies that we have to dispose of," she said, then used the key to open the wooden door. "Be careful, the lock has a poison needle trap; this key bypasses it."

She led them down the stairs to the cultist lair. She showed them the bodies, "We'll need to get rid of these, before they start to decompose." She led Octavio and his Armigers on a quick tour of the complex, pointing out the sealed door. "Obviously don't open that right now — who knows might be beyond!"

After satisfying herself that things were as the party had left them, she said, "As you can see, we've got our work cut out for us here. Let's start by moving the bodies up to the trash room, and getting them out of the way. Then we need to make a quick note of what supplies are here, and figure out if I need to go and buy some stuff to tide you over until tomorrow."

It took a good hour to get rid of the bodies, and make a very superficial survey of what supplies were present. She also spent a few minutes searching the alter area at the back of the complex.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

It looks like there's an alter of some sort at the back of C8, and perhaps the cult leader's quarters in C9. I don't think we got a detailed description of that area.

The plan is to go out and buy the minimum supplies that the Order of the Torrent will need until we return in the evening.

Aldren was thankful Sidius volunteered to also head to Longroads. He'd been hoping for a chance to talk with the curious spellcaster since they first met a couple days ago. On the way there, "Do you mind if I ask how you came to this little enterprise? I mean, you look like you've spent time in the Greens, too, and you've mentioned a difficult time with your own father. Or," he says, his tone growing colder with each word, "..my actual mother, the woman about whom I was lied to all my life - a comely bard who caught the eye of a Scion of House Thrune, and then literally couldn't say no... and who was cast off like a used and broken toy afterward... and then again after my birth."

Sidius stops, and forces himself to unclench his hand and jaw, then sighs, "Though, she, at least, is still alive and free... at least, I think so, as I have no means to contact her. All that to say, I have issues with my family. I think you can relate, save for who that family is."

Lubella, Octavio and the remnants of the Order of the Torrent work hard to clear the grisly remains left undisturbed from the recent raid.

While Lubella checks the altar, she does not find anything beyond that already found days earlier.

Octavio examines the door, the inscription and asks. It would seem a powerful spell was used to seal this door from entry. Do the Silver Ravens have means to bypass such work as this? I personally do not but we could see if others could be convinced to for a price. Although, I would prefer to only bring in a third party as a last resort.

Talvek and Arcos examine the body in the shop of Hetamon.

Hetamon explains to Arcos Sadly, this woman is the latest victim of the slasher. Her name is Myrletta, and is a cleric of Milani

He looks down somberly as he obviously knew the woman in life.

As you can see, her body has been savaged, and bears a total of 37 separate stab wounds.

Talvek can tell with his inspection that the many wounds were caused by a light bladed weapon, but not likely a common knife or dagger.

With this, and his connections to the Nursery and his kin there, Talvek also confirms that all seven similar recent
murders have occurred in southern Old Kintargo.

The teams in the Wasp Nest are eager to report their activities to Aldren and Sidius. However, they understand the urgency to focus on the move We will give a full report tomorrow or whenever we are safely in the new base of operations.

Laria and the team leads agree with Aldren's suggestion.

Leading small groups out in singles or pairs seems wise. Anything more and the Dottari will be poking around here as sure as my coffee is hot and the day is long!

"It wasn't a dagger, or knife, but definitely a bladed weapon. We can ask around local businesses and see if anything catches our eye. Either a trade implement, or a more exotic weapon." Talvek starts cleaning his hands after having examined the body. "And speaking of asking around - all these murders seem localized to the southern part of Old Kintargo, correct? We should ask the locals there, if they've seen or heard anything that might help us."

He turns to Hetamon. "Did Myrletta have any family here? I have an idea, but I do not wish to be disrespectful."

Talvek's plan is to disguise himself as a member of Myrletta's family and ask around the area where the murders occurred, with the idea that people might be more sympathetic to a grieving spouse/child/sibling than to a random stranger asking strange questions.

Before giving everyone instructions on how to find the Lucky Bones and begin evacuating the nest, Aldren asked Sidius (and Laria) a question, "While we have everyone here and before they scatter, I can cast a spell to force those in the area to speak truthfully. It's short, just a few minutes. But I could have the teams come by in groups, affirm they will not disclose the location to anyone other than another Raven, then they could be told where to go. Anyone who evades the question we may have to hold."

Sidius nods, "I think that's a wise course of action... And that we can presented it as a reasonable request, for everyone's safety, including theirs... though it's best we're gentle about how we ask the question - as to avoid having people feeling accused, and potentially alienated."
