Cool. I'm having fun with this as a player. Kharn's last posts have me scratching my head. I feel like the game is starting to get really interesting.
To Ben: Yes, I love the idea of you actually throwing in real uses of Gax's prescience unexpectedly. He'll be as surprised by it as anyone. :)

A perception check will show you what it looks like. Do you have any knowledge it craft skills that might tell you what a piece of metal is? I didn't see any craft our profession skills, did you take your free one?
No I did not take one, I only added the trait you gave me, I will do that now.
I took craft blacksmithing and it works great since the story addition to the background is as follows.
While in the city one day Bullpup was chasing a rat that ended up running into a backsmith shop. Bullpup killed the rat and when he turned from the corner saw a huge man standing before him. The man looked annoyed, frustrated, and rushed. What Bullpup did not realize was that the smith was working by himself and a particularly difficult piece and had to constant stoke the flames using the bellows to keep the metal at the right temperature. He took a quick look at Bullpup, pointed to the bellows and said in a commanding tone. Squeeze them together and pull them apart. Bullpup confused walked over to the bellows and did what he was asked. The smith repeated the chant a few times and then started lowering his voice as an expression of awe washed over Bullpup. Each time he squeezed the bellows the flames lept up and the heat increased. As he pulled the bellows apart the flames would lessen and the heat would drop. Bullpup lost himself in the rythm of the bellows and it was not until the smith laid a hand on his shoulder that Bullpup realized that the smith was even there. The smith said come back tomorrow, gave Bullpup some food and pushed him out of the shop. Bullpup came back the next day and everyday for a few weeks. The smith tried to show Bullpup other things around the forge but Bullpup's interest was always brought back to the bellows. While Bullpup could not keep the names of the tools right he could keep the forge at whatever temperature the smith wanted. The smith began to realize that Bullpup would never make a good apprentice, but he was a great assistant as long as he was not talking. In order to stop Bullpup from talking all the smith had to do was point at the bellows. One the last day that Bullpup remembered to go to the Smithy, the blacksmith asked for a set of bending forks and was amazed that Bullpup actually brought him the right tool on the first try.
The story update has been added to the character profile

Tobia reminds me of someone I used to know, though not at all in a good way :/
Yeah, I'm gonna say that I'm pretty upset about Tobiaal attacking Gax (as a player). This game has been slowly rolling towards actually getting into the story and then this whole infighting thing comes up, which is both stupid and incredibly unfun. My most recent post is basically daring Spencer to kill Gax, because if the game is going to be dominated by play like this I don't really want to stay in the campaign.
Luckily, this whole thing gave me an excuse to quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail in character, so there's that.

Gax |

Hey Spencer, how did you manage to get both a 24 in wisdom and a 20 in dex with only one stat under a ten? I was amazed that you had a +9 will save at level one so I looked at your profile. I didn't even know stats like that were possible in a 20 point buy. Even with items, which I don't think a level one can afford, those are impressive stats.

Gax |

Yeah, I'm looking at those monster templates now. It looks to me like tehy might be more balanced for something without class levels. For example, one of the big penalties for the young template is the reduction in natural armor. If you have class levels giving you AC from wisdom (like a monk) or wear armor then it's not much of a penalty. Still, interesting build. I didn't even know you could use those templates for PCs.

Gax |

I like how we're getting a lot of melee oriented humans. This group leans heavily towards unusual races and classes (or unusual variants of races and classes), so it'd be nice to get a vanilla human in the group. I like Marcus's backstory and detail, but you guys all know by now I like a lot of color and description in play. However, I think the inquisitor also fits our need really well.

DMBen |

Congratulations and welcome. At this point I'm just working out how to get you two into the campaign and then we'll go from there. Quick question about that, it might make things easier on me if you two know each other before hand. Would you mind if that were the case? If not great, work that out. If you would rather not, that's fine too. They are your character's after all.

Averin Cadash |

Well, the beautiful thing about Drow in Pathfinder is that no one knows what they are, so there are no preconcieved notions about them. On top of that, a hellknight prospect and a paladin seems like an interesting pair of friends, one is good, the other is lawful.
Long story short, I don't have a problem with Averin and Durren knowing each other.

DMBen |

Alright. That makes things easier. Plus I totally agree. I think it'll be a fun friendship to watch--or in your case play.
Now, let's see if we can't get you in there.
I'm going to try to throw y'all in as quickly as I can. In fact, hoping y'all are ready, I'm going to throw a post up for you over in gameplay . . . now.

Tobiaal ald Kheled'Askech |

so sorry I didn't see that new things had been posted in the discussion log. It didn't show up to start with on my screen.
Sorry if it seems that i am apathetic or intentionally creating a hassle and huff with group. That isn't the intention. From my perspective (character wise) the majority of what is happening is that I am more use to being in the wild where it is kill or be killed or establish your usefulness to the group. I have been trying to play Tobia as if I am just coming into a "new" pack and am trying to figure out where i fit in the pecking order. With the conflict/dispute with Gax I think that we clearly established that neither one of us is better than the other we just have different strengths: IE; we know where we fit in regards to each other in the pecking order.
I will work on toning it down I am not trying to make it miserable or unfun for anyone and if it is happening let me know I will adjust Tobia/bring in another character/ or bow out what ever is most beneficial.

Bullpup Rustycap |

Sorry things have gotten a little more strange and stressful at my house. I will be posting more during the day than in the evening at this time. I am trying to keep up but at the same time my character will be doing random things while others drive the story. I am somewhat quieter since I do not want to bog the story down with the Gully dwarfs normal thought processes while the story is evolving. When there is time for action I will definitely be attentive but for the most part my character will amuse himself with odd things and make offhand comments. I can make him more vocal but I felt that it would be a little distracting at this point in the story line.
What do you guys think, should I be posting more of Bullpup's random ideas and jabbering that he would do with people he feels comfortable around. Right now that is only Tobiaa and to a small extent Kharn since Bullpup feels that what he says is fun and interesting.

DMBen |

Between work and home life, several things have come up making life extremely stressful. I am sorry, but I need to withdraw from all of my PBP games. It has been fun playing with you all. I hope to be able to come back to the boards in the future, but until then, have fun.
I am especially sorry that I am not able to continue DM'ing this game. Thank you all for your participation, it has been fun.
