"I hate spiders... more so a giant one..."
"Be gone!"
Evil Eye (AC) on spider.
If Mandrak delays his actions does that mean he will go after I evil eye the spider? I really don't get delay actions.

![]() |

Because every cunning Rogue knows 'it is the SECOND mouse that gets the cheese'
Kishara is clearly not the most cunning of rogues... XD She's more concerned with getting all the mousies home alive than she is the cheese. ;^)

![]() |

Mandrak delays.
Yhen - you need to be within 30' to Evil Eye, a single move action will leave you short - need to reach Row D, or wait until it is within view and <30', you can move up or wait...
Moll delays
Kish is up
Aegon - you can only move 20' (Scale armour) - D3 instead?
Grim - TBA
Spider - TBA

I needed to draw another weapon since I'd indicated I had a mace in my hand, so I'll have to use my move action to switch my weapon. I think that leaves me stuck in the hall since a 5 ft step won't get me where I can fire at the spider, right? If not, I'd want to step to B4 at least and fire an arrow at the spider.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

![]() |

And here I thought the critter would be dead by my turn! Where's a bow when you need one...Oh wait - I guess I have Maurit's since no one claimed it! But I'd rather keep my big spider-slasher out and ready...
Grim moves next to Aegon (D4) and readies an attack if the spider approaches.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
Crit confirm 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage 2d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 + 2 = 17 (Killer trait)

I see, I thought you could move thru the black squares since Moll is in a black square, anyway I don't think I would be needed anyway since I would guess Grim pretty much squashed it flat. I can get to row D but with the low hp I have I won't, so I will just ready my Evil Eye in case it gets into range.
And Grim, I don't think a greatsword is little lol

Is there any useful things that can be found on those bodies? Maybe they have some of the documents or the katana we are looking for.
"Can somebody help me inspect these bodies? They might be holding something important before they got caught within these webs."
"And no, you can't eat that." Yhen shouts at her raptor.
After inspecting, let's move on to the next room.

![]() |

Moll moves up to the room at the back of the group. Good to see you have everything under control up here." she says with a grin, before joining Mandrak in searching. She uses a sword to cut the bodies out of their cocoons so that their belongings can be searched.
Perception - Aid Another on Mandrak 1d20 ⇒ 15

"I recommend we backtrack and check out the door we passed, and whatever is beyond. Since we don't know where the katana rests, we might as well clear this place room by room. You neve know what we might discover, and we'll help prevent any surprises for Moll and Yhen later."

"Hold on, Grim. Look at Maurit's map here, does that look like stairs or a ladder coming off the north side of this room?" Kishara holds up her lamp and examines the wall.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Shifty, is Maurit's map is drawn so that West is where north would normally be?

![]() |

Map - Oriented so that the top is now north for ease of reference. Maurits map is in 'as is' condition :p
Next to the remains of one of the two dead kobolds wrapped in the webbing is a small purse containing 30 gp and a pearl, which Yhen determines is a Pearl of power (1st level).
Now occupying the room proper, there is a visible staircase to the east.

![]() |

Kishara proceeds to investigate the staircase, slipping as silently as possible up the stairs looking for traps along the way.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Kish signals the party and slips quietly up the stairs... cracking the door at the top, she hears a strange moaning.
A mournful howl comes from a stone well in the room’s center.
This large chamber’s walls, once painted with vermilion and gilded with gold leaf, are now splotched and crumbling. Unlike the walls, however, the tiles that decorate the well are untouched by the ages and gleam as if recently polished.

Following Kish up the stairs, Grim's attention is drawn by the gleaming, moaning well. His grip tightens on the sword as he edges closer to check it out.
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Kishara also approaches the well from the opposite side of Grim, holding her lamp high to aid his view. She stops about 5 ft from the howling well, and positions herself on the balls of her feet, ready to spring if need be. Recognizing the Paladin is investigating the well with his strange sight, she waits for his pronouncement.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Aegon 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Grimaldus 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Kishara 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
-not yet present-
Mandrak 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Moll 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Yhen 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Grimaldus advances, with Kishara and Aegon falling into position and preparing themselves for trouble. Grim gets near the well and has a quick look, at the last moment he realises the strange noise of the well has the undercurrent sound of a man screaming, and warns the party 1d20 ⇒ 3 then inexplicably jumps into the well, sword drawn!
Damage 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

![]() |

"An evil well just ate Grim!" Kishara stage-whispers back to the group, realizing too late that shouting may now endanger Grimaldus or themselves further.
She sorts through her pack and asks "Does anyone have a rope? We may need to haul him up out of there..."

![]() |

What the...how did I end up down here?!?
"I'm alive...I think I may have twisted my knee on the way down, though..." Grim calls out to his companions. "Not sure how I ended up down here - be careful because that last step is a doozy!"
Grim will investigate his surroundings and the skeleton (another fool who got too close to the edge of the wailing well, he supposes...) Is the well a straight hole down? Are there sufficent handholds to climb back out? Is there a passage where water once flowed? Is there any moisture left? Is there a natural cause for the wailing sound, like air flowing through a small aperture?
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Knowledge (Dungeoneering) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Actually Kish was first into this room, worked out pretty well for her, I'd say. *snicker*
"What do you mean 'not sure how'? You jumped, you blockheaded behemoth! Why? You're determined to give me a heart attack, no?"
If Grim is going to climb, he might want to drink a potion first, if he slips he could take fall damage again. I have potions and twine, could lower one down. Looks like Moll has rope and a grappling hook, so maybe she can help us out too.

![]() |

"Blockheaded behemoth! HaHa! Go ask the well maybe it can tell you to jump back here again!"
"Oh potions, well I have these, courtesy of Maurit." as Yhen shows the potion of cure light wounds to Kish.
"Maybe you can try and get that armor off?"
Yhen will help pulling him out.
Aid Another (str): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
I don't think that would help at all.
"Hmm well that didn't work well, here you go Grim, this might help." Yhen will cast Guidance on Grim.

![]() |

Moll winces and stays well away from the well, uncoiling her silk rope and looking for a place to attach the hook to. "Hmm, can I get close enough to hook this to the edge of the well? Or do the rest of you want to hold on and we'll just pull him out?" she says.

![]() |

Ate my earlier post...
Looking about, Grim notes a few features...
There is still a small amount of water moving at the bottom of the well, but at some point the earth has shifted and blocked most of the wells functionality. The howl seems to be unnatural. The skeleton has a broken leg and arm, probably from a fall into the well many many years ago.
There are no real decent handholds, but with time and effort Grim could probably work out a way up.

![]() |

Kishara helps Moll stabilize the rope. "Rope coming down, Grimmy. We'll help you out of there."
Can we say we're taking 10 or 20 to get Grimmy out of the well and call it done? We've got quite a few decent Str characters who can help. =D
