i have been working on my submission and will present it before the deadline...

Dark Archive

To clarify things, I will close the recruitment of players tomorrow. That means that after that I will not accept any new applications, but those players who applied will have a week to create their characters - and then I'll choose the party members among them.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

OH ok I though I had to have everything done by tomorrow.

This is Algar Lysandris Character Submission, Complete with fluff (on the character sheet).

currently Jack has just arrived to Briarwood as he is looking for Mithral Hall (since it was re opened by Bruenor BattleHammer)

He is looking for the Mithral Lamp of Arounscius a Nobble Janni (a ancestor of Jack) who was imprisoned in it.

It was said that Arounscius was owed a wish by the Vizer Jalani.

Thus Jack is looking for the Wish that is going to Grand him his heart's desire

You will also get a bonus feat every level in addition to the feats you would get normally.

Hmm only just noticed that, this opens up some very interesting build opportunities.

1. Anyone for teamwork feats?
2. Eldritch heritage! Perhaps I should make Marcus a stealth paladin, with the umbral bloodline...

So here is my first pass at a Crusader of Meilikki. Nightflier, you mentioned rangers being needed, so I decided to forego Mystra and stick to a more complimentary faith.

So far its all rough fluff, but it will get a nice fresh polish this week. As for crunch, would it be possible for us to do final revisions of things like skills when the party has been picked?

Hey Nightflier,

So I got your PM and yeah I am certainly willing to give this a go here. My character concept is a Halfling Warlock (formerly a Rogue) who had a run-in with a particular...item he should NOT have touched.

Let me know which version of the Warlock is OK to use...either THIS or THIS one. Of course if there is another one out there you prefer, just let me know.

OK here are his rolls:
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 1) = 13 12
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 1) = 11 10
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3) = 12 10 (drop)
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 1) = 6 5 (drop)
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 5) = 15 14
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 3) = 14 13
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 4) = 16 13
4d6, drop lowest: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 6) = 20 16

So I have a (12, 10, 14, 13, 13, 16). Not bad. I will work on his BG and post an alias later this evening.

Hmmm, I don't want anyone waiting for me, so I'm going to back out.
I'll be away from the 9th to the 18th at least, and probably have no access during that time.
Have fun guys!

Hi, Eric.

There is, in fact, a warlock conversion by SmiloDan that I prefer.
Also, you can use your character from a Midnight game - just re-fluff her as Drow if you decide to do so.

Liberty's Edge

I'm gonna back out too. Good luck everyone!

Hi there,

Thanks for your e-mail Nightflier. I'm going to give a go to that game. I want to try a sorcerer/dragon disciple, I think. Silver dragon bloodline would fit the setting but I need a little more research for my background.

Here are my rolls:
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 1) = 17 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 2) = 10 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 6) = 18 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 2) = 18 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 5) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 2) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6) = 19 17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 3) = 13 11

Edit: reading through the thread shows that there are lots of arcane casters submitted. I may change for a hunter (I have a great idea for that as well).

I was going to to do dwarf wizard, but changed to human sorcerer. Check the profile for stats and background. Original post was under Joel VA.

Thought?

OK I will keep that in mind. As for the Midnight character you must mean Anwyn. Yeah she was a good character so I can bring her back without any problem.

Any other changes I should make to her?

Preliminary version of character. Spell-less Ranger. Worships Melekki. Not quite feral but not that far from it.

Do you want us to come up with the reason we're in Briarwood?

Great to see some of the old players game in either of the 2 games.

I'll not be using my homebrew traits for this game, so you'd need to take them out of the build. And use PF drow commoner for a race.

It would help, but it is not a most important part of the background.

Applications are now closed. Please post under your character profiles from now on. You have five days to finish your PCs; I will make my selection known come Friday, since I'll be going on a trip over the weekend end we'll begin the game on Monday.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

I'm going to withdraw actually. Been super busy and it looks like there are a ton of applicants. Enjoy the FR! Haven't played in it in ages :)

I'm pretty much done with the background of this character, although feedback is welcome.

I also have a few other character concepts which are not FR specific but could probably be easily modified.A Tiefling Paladin with an (imo) cool background

An ex soldier (barbarian) with a split personality

Tik'Klik should be done. I'll boost his background some when I know more about the game starting point. He'd almost certainly still be in his shipping crate, so not sure how to fit that in based on where the game starts without further details.

Dark Archive

Today I couldn't log on to Paizo for the whole day. I'm gonna review finished characters tomorrow. Some of you may very well be accepted in the party right away.

You have excellent rolls. :) You can make anything you like, really. Perhaps magus? Or some 3pp class? Don't feel constrained by other characters, since party is not yet composed. Alternately, Eric has the option to reuse Anwyn, Solvy's daughter from Midnight. Perhaps you can tie your character with his is some manner? If he decides to play Anwyn, she is perfect for drow assassin/bodyguard, in which case your character could be her patron or perhaps sister/brother.

Of course, these are suggestions only and you can build anything you like. :)

OK I have converted her to FR, although I did keep the Shadar bloodline, the Bladesinger class, and her Heroic path for her as well.

How do you want me to do her BG? Have her transported from her homeland? Or rework her to be from the Underdark?

EDIT: Paizo was down for most of the day NF, so this time it was not you ;-)

Dark Archive

Background is up to you. Perhaps it can be interesting if she's refugee from Midnight. :) Also, I'm gonna give you a choice - you can either keep the Heroic Path or get bonus feat at each level. Not both (it wouldn't be fair to others).

If you decide to keep her Midnight background, keep the equipment including the Obsidian Blade.

Good luck to everyone then...(as the DM is going over his choices)

OK I will keep the HP and her Midnight BG as that is what makes her unique :). She must have gotten separated from her companions in the Swamp and then lost her way. Or perhaps there was a Portal...

I'd just like to finish my crusader off with a notable friend or enemy in or around Briarwood, Nightflier. So are there any thoughtless (or thoughtful) logging operations in the area. An obvious noble splashing cash for hunts or bagging trophies perhaps?

Finally what is the major religion in town and is there a temple or shrine. If Mielikki has no great following then Kelagh would work towards founding a shrine.

Cheers

Ok I'll get her finished up.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 3) = 11 - null
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 3) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 1) = 13 - null
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 5) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 1) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 4) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 6) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 2) = 14

Well this is my attempt for a character if there is even a slot left.

Edit: This leaves me with 17,16,16,16,15,14.

I will submit a Kara-Tur PC if you do not mind.

I have a question, can I use the Oriental Adventures Fighter alternate class as some sort of archetype, if not I'll just try for the Samurai alternate class even if I have no idea how much space there will be for any mounted combat, so I might go Sword Saint just in case.

Background and personality are up will have description up soon.

Perception: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 4) = 194d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 2) = 104d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 1) = 114d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 2) = 154d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6) = 194d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 2) = 144d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 5) = 184d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3) = 12

And in the last moment, I hereby apply :) I'll think about the character concept some more, just wanted to make sure I'm in :)

Sorry, didn't see that you closed the applications.
Would it be possible to make an exception because the site wasn't online yesterday for the better part of the day?
Thanks ether way.

Well, that has some merit. Very well, you and Deiros are in the running.

Perhaps it's best that you use samurai. Mounted combat will not be a large part of the game.

Nightflier, one quick question please.

One of the character concept I'm playing with is a halfling hunter mounted on a roc. That would mean a 1st level character able to fly. I am aware that this may well be an issue for your game both in terms of length of play (with 7-8 characters, there may be no need to add one more) and of the type of game you plan to play. If there are long building/underground/city exploration, this may not fit.

Can you give me an idea if this concept will fit or not?

That would probably not work, since large parts of the game will be exploratory and others will include a lot of diplomacy. I am not against you having animal companion, but I think that riding/flying/large companions would not be that much useful.

There are no shrines or temples in Briarwood. That place is basically a town of exiles who managed to found a deserted place and make it their own. You can incorporate any friend or enemy you want into your background.

Dark Archive

@all

My plans for this game:

What I had in mind is basically exploring the North of the Realms, including Spine of the World and the new forest that grew over Hellgate Keep. There will possibly be some overlapping with Underdark, depending mostly on the party choices. I don't really plan for a long game, since my experience with pbp games is that they mostly last 5-6 levels and I will strive to provide enough of a story for you all to reach those character levels, before we do something else. That will depend of your choices, since Realms are very well connected to other worlds and planes, and one you is already from another world and she very well may want to get back to it.

Faerin is a Ranger of Mielikki who includes Briarwood in her patrols from time to time. She could know Kelagh.

sounds good to me. ready for the show to start

Righty ho.

Mark, thanks, I'll build her in. Faerin sounds like a good match for Kelagh.

Cheers

In that case, Tik'Klik could have been in his crate, in standby mode, from before the fall of the city. He could have been found and either presented to the PCs as a useful thing to take with them while exploring (with the thought it would be just a normal golem), or it could be that they find him in the first unexplored ruin they happen across. Either would work well for his background and intro if he's chosen.

With his background Attikus is a new arrival to Briarwood...so he could have stopped anywhere else first if anyone needs a tie in.

PS: His background is up in case you missed it.

Well this is my completed character from Kara-Tur.

Good background, scranford.

Impressive background scranford, words seem to flow well from you.
