Looking over at Derika, the shamaess' glance reminds her of their conversation.


The kitchen is bare. It appears wild animals have been through here and eaten whatever they could find.

She looks over at Telsyn, "Thanks for that....but, I didn't ask to be anyone's leader. I'm not trying to be "in charge" of anyone....I'm just trying to make sure that everyone is as safe as possible and trying not to lose my own life in the process."

Looking around the torn up kitchen she sighs and says, "Well...I guess we're back to eating rations unless we go back into town for dinner."

Turning she calls back to the others, "Things are okay here and there's plenty of beds." Plopping down on a bed she has some dried fruits, meat and nuts before storing things back in her pack and lays on the bed quietly as she thinks about things.

Jerrica digs in her backpack and takes out some rations. "I suppose I still do."

She points to her own bag, "Okay, there's more in there though if you need some. I always carry extra since you never know what you might run into." Taking a waterskin out of her bag she takes a few drinks.

Vishanti sits on the bed on the other side, "I can refill everyone's canteens so no need to worry about conserving water." she says taking rations from her own gear.

Thangrom slumps onto one of the beds, resting his maul against the bedpost. He empties what water remains in his canteen before offering it to Vishanti. "Would be much obliged," he says to the woman.

Smiling Vishanti takes the canteen, whispering strange words as the faint sound of a bubbling brook fills the room. She hands the canteen back full of fresh spring water, cool as if just emerging from the ground.

The elf Keeps the lights on while he shuffles through his pack and grabs a bite.


After you all eat, you secure the watchtower and sleep.

Yup. First watch, anyhoo. Armed and alert. I'll watch 4 hrs, then it's lights out. Most of the others have darkvision, so they can watch while Telsyn gets a little rest.

I meant he won't be last this time.


Morning arrives in silence and it feels almost ominous as you head back to the donjon and the crypts below. The hallway where you fought the column ends in a steep cliff that plunges into a darkness so deep that even those with darkvision cannot perceive what lies beyond. Your sole passage is the collapsed wall of the crypt which becomes a rocky slope descending into natural caverns. The chill is overpowering here and, were it not for Gorum's blessing, you're sure that you would be suffering from frostbite.

Marching order, please.

Git 'em, grrrlz!


Upon entering the room, you notice that all magical light seems dimmer here. You are able to spot the large chasm (light red area on the map) that dominates the southern portion of the chamber. The chasm plunges about 120 feet, the bottom filled with water. The water filling this chasm is black and gleams sinisterly in the light. An aura of malign cold hangs in the air above the calm water. Water drips down from above, filling the cavern with the sound of rain. Jerrica spots a vaguely humanoid black wisp of shadow heading towards the group.

What are we looking at here?


Telsyn identifies the creature as a shadow, an incorporeal undead whose touch drains the strength from living beings. Those drained of their strength completely becomes a spawn in the control of its killer. Mundane weapons will do nothing, while spells and magic weapons have a diminished effect. Holy water, magic missile or channeled energy are a few things that are effective normally against it.
