This will be the Shackled City adventure path using the Pathfinder rule set. However, the existing deities (i.e. St. Cuthbert, Pelor, Wee Jas) will not be converted to similar Golarion gods.

The party moves to the fisherman, just three of them left as the others were already lost overboard before the party's arrival. Another wave does not arrive and the party can begin to remove people or attempt to save the entire boat.

Atol hears the stampede coming and grabs a scroll. As soon as he sees them, he casts Calm Emotions on the leaders of the rampage. He hopes that the calming effect on the front 20’ radius spread will calm the stampede in it’s entirety (if they don't all fit in that radius).

Remember, anyone who had breakfast with Atol has 8 temporary hit points, +1 (morale) attack rolls/Will saves, and +4 (morale) on poison/fear saves from the heroes' feast for 12 hours.

Dyrant grunts as the thundering herd of horses, donkeys, mules, and atols comes down the way.

Reacting quickly, Dyrant flies 60' closer (still 30' in the air) toward the stampede.

Dyrant will cast Wall of Ice.(14 10'x10' squares worth), trying to put it well ahead of the stampede (giving them time to slow) and protect civilians.

Granted the "gift" of flight by Dyrant, Finneas grabs the last fisherman and flies above the stampede.

Round 2, Init 16

Glimmil stands aboard the small boat, ready to pursue his plan to grab the anchor rope and tug it to shore. When he looks up, he notices that all the fisherman have disappeared.

"Wait... were those gho--?"

Glancing upwards, he sees the heels of Finneas, Toffitt and the three fisherman and shrugs at the rope he's holding.

"Hello? Anyone else aboard?"

Moving over, he peeks into the cabin for any other fisherfolk in need of saving before leaping off the vessel and into the air again, ascending hire than any other future dangerous waves.


The party removes some thankful sailors, but thinks better of trying to save the boat. The escaped animals from the lakeside livery are first calmed by Atol and then diverted by Dyrant. Unfortunately for the animals the reason for their stampeded quickly becomes evident as a large pack of vrocks rips through the now stationary animals. It’s hard to tell, but there appear to only be three of them, but mirror images add to the confusion. The screams and wailing of the animals can be heard even above the fires and crashing buildings of the city.

Alongside the vrocks the water bubbles even more than the rest of the lake. Suddenly, a massive pale gray shape surges out of the boiling water with a thunderous roar. The creature’s face is that of a deep-sea fish with protruding red eyes and a gaping fanged maw. Horns protrude from its brow and chin, and a spiny sail-like fin runs along its back. Its lower body resembles that of an octopus in that it has eight tentacles, but the creature also sports long, lobster-like legs. The front pair of these legs end in massive talons, one of which holds a wand. A pair of huge wings or flippers unfurls from the creature’s sides, lifting it out of the water and into the air. The creature’s flesh is blistered in places, obviously scaled by the boiling water, and it roars again as it turns from the animals towards the party. The Morkoth has risen from the lake.

There are mirror images and spell resistance in effect. Please remember caster level checks. I’ve removed the stampede as it was dealt with and too much at this point. I had to reset the map, so I placed people in reasonable positions. I’ve assumed that Toffitt and Finneas dropped off their fishermen who have now run off. All buildings are 20' high for simplicity.

Ah, a little time-bending if Toffitt picked up the fishermen on Round 3 Init 15... Glimmil wouldn't have arrived at an empty ship on Round 2 Init 16. Glimmil would've picked them up on his initiative, and thus Toffitt would not have any fishermen to grab in Round 3...?

Glimmil floats over the water and observes with a blank stare as the Morkoth rises from the lake.

Wait... those are real??

From the corner of his eye, Glimmil catches a glimpse of the tiny saddle affixed to Cog and has a terrible thought of riding a Morkoth mount, but quickly shakes his head and dismisses the impracticality of all the tentacles and lobster-like legs in a cramped underground tunnel.


I almost reset the rounds to the beginning, but didn't because I know people are on the last minute of some buffs. Just to be clear. Finneas and Dyrant are up and then the demons. I removed the copy/paste error showing Toffitt's action in round 3.

Dyrant:
Dyrant evidently did some studying since his last encounter with the vrocks and knows their every little secret including the fact they appear to have used their heroism and mirror image.

In regards to the morkoth, it appears to be a fiendish version of a morkoth. A basic morkoth possesses powers of hypnosis and spell reflection and you suspect this one does, also. Being fiendish it is also likely resistant to poison, acid, cold, electricity, and fire. It probably has some nasty spell like abilities in addition to the wand it is wielding just because it's so evil. And then the stupid GM probably even modified it further than the book, so anything really goes at this point.

Finneas stares at the creature, surprised to learn the stories of a lake monster the orphans told each other has come alive.

Dyrant’s fireball puts many of the animals out of their misery while leaving an almost pleasant smell of gristle in the air. Two of the vrocks take a little bit of damage from the spell, but one completely ignores its effects. Finneas calls on Kord for more assistance and moves up to face the demons.

The vrocks decided to thank Dyrant personally for his fireball and surround him, popping up next to him via teleportation. The first vrock in releases a cloud of spores that cling to Dryant and Aralynn and burrow into their bodies. damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

A malevolent darkness like an oily skin covers the morkoth as it flies closer to the party.

As Glimmil observes the three bird-monsters swarming around Dyrant, he calls upon the holy power of Garl (Cast Divine Favor) before kicking his heels and soaring towards the Cuthbertite, summoning Claw-Whomper to his hand with a *pop* and keeping his right arm outstretched as he flies ahead.

Glimmil approaches the morkoth while the rest of the party deals with the vrocks. The putrid steam from the boiling lake fills his lungs. DC 17 FORT save vs STR and CON damage.

Toffitt drinks a potion and flies above Dyrant to draw the AoO's, which he does with much success as numerous claws slice only the air.

Finneas continues to swing at the same vrock, but Kord fails to guide his hand this time and he only manages to eliminate a few images.

Atol watches the Vrock disappear and very nearly cries out in anger. I thinks through his spells and rifles through his scrolls, but having nothing that will help that situation now, he instead steps back (5’ to J30) and begins a full round cast (Summon Monster V).

Visions of riding the morkoth continue to dance in Glimmil's imagination like a circle of spriggans circling Dyrant in some sort of bizarre Cuthbert-Ehlonna infused crossover ritual of fertility.

Shaking them off, Glimmil tries to aim his boots at the morkoth in order to land directly upon it and deliver a mighty bashing from Claw-Whomper.

(Not sure if you want to employ any special rules for Glimmil to land on the morkoth - mostly looking for cinematic flair and not anything special like mechanical advantages or a grapple)

Yes, the morkoth is evil. I missed the 'add +5' taglines. So that's three more hits. Each time Glimmil hits, the inky substance around the morkoth tries to drain Glimmil's strength. Morkoth has taken 157 damage (37,40,46,34=157)


This time Glimmil doesn't hit at all though with the natural 1 and lower numbers. Morkoth is still up.
Morkoth will save: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38

The morkoth still seems oblivious to Dyrant's presence.

Glimmil survives the destruction spell, but it shakes him just enough he is unable to score a hit this round.

Toffitt drinks a potion while the vrocks claw at him. Unscathed, he goes invisible and flies upwards.

Atol tries to eliminate some targets, but his freshly called archon's find the situation awfully chaotic and have trouble focusing. They still manage to finish off all of the images for one of the vrocks. -4 for combat.

While no images remain, Finneas still has a hard time hitting the broad side of a vrock more than once. Fortunately, it is enough to bring it crashing to the ground.

The first vrock moves up next to Atol and screeches. DC 21 FORT save or stunned for Finneas and Atol. Toffitt is out of range this time.

The other vrock tries to finish off Finneas just as Finneas did his partner.

The morlock flies back 5' and actually peers back at Dyrant before casting blasphemy, which catches Glimmil and Dryant.

DC 21 Will save:

Dazed: The creature can take no actions for 1 round, though it defends itself normally. Save negates.

Weakened: The creature's Strength score decreases by 2d6 points for 2d4 rounds. Save for half.

Paralyzed: The creature is paralyzed and helpless for 1d10 minutes. Save reduces the paralyzed effect to 1 round.
