It is always soooooooooooooooo nice when players split the party.
Taking N'Djamerna's advice, Vrealk ties himself off and climbs down the shaft. He finds himself dangling above a very large room.50x70 feet or roughly 15x21 meters The floor seems badly damaged, scarred with creaks and huge gaping holes. Pieces of the old wood and rusted metal bars cover some of the damaged areas, though they look unsafe. Along the northern wall, loose rocks and other debris neatly fill a wide arch, blocking passage but for a few small gaps.
GM
well? Action , vrealk is currently dangling 15 or so feet off the ground of this new room
Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2
Calmly waiting for every one, while continuing to help out with the illumination. :) *Bows*
Those holes look much to small for me to fit. I'm waiting for Vrealk to come back out so we can continue looking.
Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4
Vrealk climbs back up and reports what he saw below.
"That might help us to navigate that level better- knowing where it is in relation to this room could prove beneficial. Let's keep moving."
GM
You force open the second set of doors and it leads you to a round hall. Built around the buildings outer walls. The left leads toward the stair way you saw the Gnolls outside. You have another set of Doors in front of you and to the right you can see stairs going down.
So though the next set of doors in front of you, down the stairs or off to try and kill the Two Gnolls you saw from the outside?
Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2
Ayish peers around in the gloom of the hall.

"Now, where are those Gnolls we saw earlier? Dealing with them in the dusk and halls would seem a better idea..." She whispers.
GM
Going after the Gnolls? If so who is first though the doors? Might want to make some stealth rolls as well.

Kelden will use his wand of shield before going after the gnolls.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I'll be back at at lest 1 /day from here on out
While you can't open the door without being noticed, the gnolls do not expect an attack from that direction and you catch them by surprise. You also catch more Gnolls then you thought were in this room as well.
Kelden has a spell ready but no one within range You may change your action Vrealk moves in and manages to dig his dagger into one of the Gnolls, taking its life before it even knew the Goblin was there. Larrs charges in, but misses his target.
Ok actions for everyone else? You guys still have surprise, Kelden, celena,N'Djamrina and Ayish have yet to act.

I haven't used that ability yet, but there's always a first time...
Markhet will cast produce flame when she realizes that there are more gnolls.

Since Celena is going after most of the Gnolls gonna wait ad see what they do before posting her actions.

Celena Ashram wrote: Since Celena is going after most of the Gnolls gonna wait ad see what they do before posting her actions. Actually, it's a surprise round. So N'Djamena will just single move into the room.
Female Gnome Paladin 5
In that case
Celena moves into the room preferably putting herself between a Gnoll and the group if possible.
Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4
Vrealk grimaces as Ayish begins singing. "Me thinks that might not have been best, friend-Ayish ...". He hopes that it isn't loud enough to raise the alarm. He then moves quickly to the gnoll in the north room, and attacks with his main dagger (not sure which gnoll that is, so I'll roll sneak attack in case it's still flat-footed).

Kelden steps back and buries an arrow into the Gnoll he just attacked, dropping it to the floor. The Gnoll in front of Celena lets out a yell and steps forward to stab at the Gnome with its spear, but she easily deflects the spear. N'Djamera charges forward smashing tempest into the Gnolls skull and dropping the beast.
The Gnoll in front of Larrs stabs at the lion, unable to land a blow as the lion mauls it to death. Markhet throws fire at one of the Gnolls as Vrealk moves in to finish off the flaming gnoll. The last Gnoll runs to the outside deck yelling "Intruders!" as loud as it can.

"You do realize that this is exactly the situation for which I suggested that plan for our swift and safe departure."
Quote: Kelden also realizes they don't have a solid plan of retreat so he offers this one. "Also, in case we need to retreat, N'Djamena, I'll cast Invisibility on you. Make for the site where we ambushed the gnolls. Markhet, would it be ok if Celena were to ride out on Larrs? That is assuming that Celena is amenable to this plan of course. Ayish, you go with them as well. Vrealk and I will lead them off and make our way there as soon as we can. Any questions? Everyone ok with that plan?"
GM
Kelden and Ayish take down the last Gnoll, but even as he falls you can hear a horn sounding alarm outside.
Male Human Cleric 5
"Kelden, you think we should run away and come back later? I didn't think a few gnolls would cow you! But if you think that's for the best, I'll play along."
"It's not a few gnolls that I'm worried about. Its my guess that it would take more than a few to run this place. I just think it wise to keep in mind that leaving and coming back at a later time is a valid tactic."
"Markhet likes hit and run tactics," the tiny druid says, "better to take down big monsters that way then a big nasty slug fest. But Markhet thinks someone should stay and count gnolls."
GM
Is the plan to run now, while you might have an opening or hold up and wait?
I'll leave the decision to Celena and N'Djamena.
Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2
Sorry to sound like a fence sitter, but Ayish has no real understanding of combat, being a Bard she tends to sing of such tales that actually know how to fight them. I am happy to go with the group. *Bows*

"If we leave now we may not get another chance to get in. If they have half a brain there sure to increase the guard after this." Celena points out
Male Human Cleric 5
"I think Kelden's idea has merit. Perhaps we can circle around and attack from a different direction now. Kelden, do your magic, if you like."
GM
The Gnolls outside are mounted, you are not sure how many are below. Which way do you plan to run? Out the stairs here and try to make for the break you came in?
Out the way we came.
N'djamena gets an invisibility. I'll leave an obscuring mist in this room in hopes of slowing down pursuit (I had not considered that they may be mounted). Vrealk and I try stealth, Celena and Ayish ride Larrs, and Markhet wildshapes. Or at least that's the plan.
GM
So that is two more rounds to clear out of the room correct? Ok folks trying stealth give me some rolls and I will go from there.
Male Human Cleric 5
Including a -5 penalty for almost-but-not-quite double moving (e.g. moving 35' per round):
1d20 + 20 - 7 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 20 - 7 - 5 = 20
Sadly Larrs is still medium sized for two more levels, and the lion probably can't carry Celena and Ayish. Course at level 7 Larrs becomes large and then he can probably carry Ayish and all the small sized characters together!
Larrs Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23+4 in undergrowth
