"Hmmm. Me hears nothing, but there is bad smell coming from behind door. Like smell from damp basement ... moldy."

The Exchange

Mamood will open the door.

GM

With a little effort by Mamood the door gives way and opens onto a balcony overlooking what must have once been the monastery's library. A overpowering Oder of musty, rotting paper, old leather and mold fills the air here. hundreds of books- most looking to damaged to even open litter the floors and empty bookshelves line the walls.

"Markhet wonders how much more exploring there is," she seems to ask her lion, but if the question was truly intended for the cat then Larrs must be extremely hard of hearing, "this brave little gnome things her friends are taking foolish risks going forwards."

"Don't worry Ayish. this time I am prepared. I will cast a protective spell on you if anything happens. I am sorry for not coming to your aid before. i failed you."

Ayish smiles warmly and with thanks to her brother, sharing her smile wwith the small nome who has been riding by her side since the..event..

With a blush on her cheeks, obviously of embarrassment and something else, Ayish bobs her head,

"My thanks brother and much thanks as well to you, brave Markhet. I am so sorry for being such a burden to every one..." Her voice trails off as she huddles closer between the two, awaiting whatever further devilment this foul place has.

Male Human Cleric 5

"Worry not, Ayish -- when the hour of the destroyer comes, none may know -- but Nethys is all-wise! So take heart, knowing that if your death is meant to be, not all of the powers in the world can stop it."

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

*blinks innocently at N'Djamena* Looks to Markhet and Xerxzayas, smiles shyly back at the friendly priest. Not worried at all by those strange words of comfort, nope, nu-uh.

Thank'e as well N'Djamena. (^_~)

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk enters the room and begins poking about. As he passes the priest, he catches his words, and gives him an odd glance. That's not very helpful, he thinks to himself.

perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

GM

vrealk

Spoiler:
You find nothing of value , just piles of molding books

"Markhet isn't sure what the priest is talking about," the gnome says scratching her head, "there are lots of things that peoples have no control over. How is knowing your god is looking over things that we have no control over supposed to be comforting?"

The gnome gives a small sigh.

"Markhet will continue to look after the living and leave the philosophy to the priests."

GM

Any other actions? move on? or what?

Markhet is actively not participating in the exploring at this point. She is watching but is keeping Larrs and herself close to Ayish rather then risking their lives.

The Exchange

Sure, Mamood will open another door. The next one clockwise.

GM

Across the hall then.

Mamood moves as his master directs across the hall the the open archway .Ten bunk beds in various stages of disrepair fill this chamber, which
must once have been a dormitory for students. The roof is mostly intact, and an open arch in the north wall leads to a large hallwaywhere your at now The east and west walls both bear sturdy wooden doors leading to other rooms, and an open arch in the southeast corner of the
room leads into a darkened antechamber, perhaps a large closet.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Taking comfort and strength from her friends around her, Ayish stands a little straighter, adjusts and tucks her clothing 'together some and says,

"Come, we should at least be thorough in our searching." Then, noticing the attention she attracts, blushes a little, "Um, freind Vrealk, perhaps if you looked within that space?" She indicates across to the closet, though she also uncoils her whip, showing that she is ready to back her companion up if it comes to a fight.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk continues to search everything as thoroughly as possible.

perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

GM

Vrealk

Spoiler:
Just searching the room you see nothing of note, the beds are moldy but nothing of value here that you can find.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"Is it clear?" Celena asks Vrealk

GM

Actions anyone? You have two doors in this room, and two left in the hall.

Markhet continues to talk to Larrs about how having spells is important. The lion seems pretty uninterested but suffers his masters innate nattering.

The Exchange

Waiting on Vrealk before having Mamood open the next door in this room.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Celena will take up position next to the nearest door in the room and have a listen.

Perception

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"Me sees nothing in here but old books. Me thinks we can move on."

Next room, listen/look around ...

perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

GM

Which door top or bottom of the map?

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish sighs quietly and sadly at the loss of other peoples knowledge, hopes and dreams.

Perhaps, later, when they have time she might return and attempt to salvage some of the writings? She thinks to herself as the group moves on in its exploration of the monastery.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Head to the top one first

GM

Celena and Vrealk head toward the western most door, but hear nothing from the other side.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena waits for the next door to be opened, morningstar at the ready.

The Exchange

Mamood will open the western most door.

GM

Vrealk, Celena and N'Djamena stand close by as Mamood opens the door. Three long wooden tables and dozens of chairs that once lined this mess hall are in shambles, mostly rotted away with the passage of years. Light shines through several large holes in the ceiling, illuminating a closed door on the east wall. An open archway leads back to the main hall.

Actions?

yOUR MAP

The Exchange

After searching this room, return to the previous room and open the door on the south side.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Celena searches the room

To avoid confusion the reason this perception check is higher than the last one is that I forgot that gnomes get a +2 bonus to perception

Perception check

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

GM

Celena listens at the est door, but hears nothing, Mamood moves toward the door, but it doesn't seem to open he gives it a bit of a shove but it still does not open

Actions folks? I rolled a str check for mamood..got 13

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena will help.

Aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

The Exchange

Should Mamood do another strength check?
Strength 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

GM

With a little help from N'Djamena, Mamood easily forces open the door. Once open you can see what held it closed. Massive fungus growth covers the floor and walls here, as well as the ceiling and walls of the descending staircase you now look into. The rest of this chamber is filled with crumbed stone, rotten wood and what may have once been a tower, but it's all collapsed within the southwest corner of this room.

Ok guys actions or go down the stairs? any check anyone would like to make or the like?

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"Me doesn't like the look of the mushrooms and stuff. Me has heard of some of that being dangerous, but maybe we should look around anyway. Anyone know what this is?"

Vrealk will wait and see if anyone can identify the fungus, and then will start poking around (unless it's definitely dangerous), trying not to disturb it too much.

perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

The Exchange

Knowledge- nature to identify the fungus 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Xerxzayas moves up to examine the mold....

GM

Xerxzayas

Spoiler:
while the mold seems to be just common mold you would expect to find in such an area and not deadly really. It's distribution is very curious and does not seem very random to you at all.

The Exchange

"interesting. it seems to be rather natural, though in an odd pattern of distribution. i suggest we return here once we've cleared this level"
Everyone can read the spoiler.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish eyes the revealed growths with trepidation and some slight disgust. She sidles closer to Markhet and Larrs, the look upon her features clear evidence that she has no immediate need to go skipping barefoot through the mushrooms/fungus. :P

Male Human Cleric 5

"How fascinating! I'm sure there is some meaning behind the strange mold...but only Nethys is all-knowing!"

N'Djamena looks around a bit and then follows to the next door.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

"You needn't be afraid of mold Ayishidaj," Markhet says, "most is harmless, and is useful for breaking stuff down into food for the plants. The all mother looks after all things. Markhet is happy to serve as her guide and medium."

The Exchange

Ok, Mamood will go to the next door.

Ayish wrinkles her nose "It smells like an alleyway!" Her voice soft but thick with revulsion.

Ready for the next, non smelly door/room plz! ^_^

Celena Ashram wrote:

Markhet makes Larrs edge towards the room. Plant life, even mold, being interesting to her.

"Markhet thinks that's impossible," the gnome says as she looks over the spores for herself, "how would the dog men open the door? Unless there's another way in."

Markhet peeks into the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

GM

Seems the group is headed out into the hall and to the last unexplored room in this hall then

Markhet

Spoiler:

You see nothing in the darkened stairway, the mold looks like it stretches into what lays below

The group moves out of the room and down the hall, coming to the last room on this side of the monastery. Mamood,Celena anN'Djamena mvoe to the front. Beyond a doorless arch appears to be a large kitchen complete
with walls lined in shelves and cupboards, a huge central table, and an enormous oven against the north wall. Several drawers and cupboard doors stand askew, and the floor here is a jagged field of broken glass, smashed pottery, bits of sharp stone, jagged bones, and discarded cutlery.

No sooner then Mamood had moved though the arch then three tiny arrows leap out from somewhere within, one buries itself deep in Mamoods neck6hp

Pugs are on the far side of the room, DC12 reflex save to move across room without taking damage due to junk and broken pots, and roll all d20 twice taking the lowest

"Markhet wonders if those stairs lead to more monsters," Markhet muses, unaware of the danger down the hall, "Markhet thinks mold would make a poor meal but this fungus might be tasty."

GM

Did Markhet stay in the room with the stairs?
