Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Ignore the goblin, like usual, Vrealk thinks. Smarter to scout first, me thinks, then have big, noisy group walking around! Oh well, me just follow, me guess.

The gnome follows after the others on her lion Larrs:

"Markhet thinks this is a mistake," the gnome whispers, "Markhet thinks we should get rested up before advancing, but Markhet is not an experienced adventurer."

The outer wall of the west cloister passage bears a massive carving. The central figure—the heroic man with the pointed beard—preaches to a variety of human clerics from throughout the long history of the monastery. The first image depicts the figure manifesting in a spiritual manner to a small group of pilgrims of Sarenrae. Another shows the figure conversing with a man in religious finery while the monastery itself is being constructed in the background. Thereafter follows a procession of similar poses, each depicting a visit by the bearded man and the leader of each era of the temple. The depictions of these clerics often also bear an identifying inscription, complete with dates that span the last several hundred years. The most recent carving is from thirty years ago, and while ample room remains for additional carvings on the west wall, the last thirty feet or so are completely blank. Two open arches on opposite ends of the west wall lead out into the ruined nave.

Celena heads into the ruined knave. "Dont worry we'll be fine." Celena says trying to reassure Markhet."

GM

Ok folks which way

The Exchange

To be frank, I'm not sure where we are. The map is confusing to me for some reason. So, unless someone has another plan, I intend to do a cursory search of each room on this level as well as any outbuildings before continuing to another level (if there is one). I'm looking to evict any current residents and ascertain if the monastery is sufficient to provide the caravan with a suitable base of operations. I'll lean on Celena and N'Djamena for their opinions on that.

We could also just let Vrealk take point.

In each room, I will do a Detect Magic for 1 round. If there is something, I will continue to detect for at least 3 rounds.

GM

sorry for not being clear been a hectic few days am behind on my updates a few places

New map

Your headed south down the cloister, you have the option of heading down the new corridor{running east} or going back down the one you did not explore. You may also walk into what looks to be a courtyard in the middle there

As always if the marching order need moved let me know and sorry for the slow update and lack of info

"Me thinks you are right, friend Markhet. But we will go one best we can, looks like."

At Xerxzayas's suggestion, Vrealk brightens a bit. "Yes! Me take point! Be back in few minutes!" Without waiting for anyone to say anything else, Vrealk darts forward into the hall, disappearing into the shadows. He peers into each room as he creeps along. From the map, looks like Vrealk will first move south and check things out that way.

Spoiler:

Heading east{down} on the map
An open arch along the southern wall at the eastern end of the corridor leads off into darkness, while a series of archways lines the north wall, looking in on the monastery’s massively overgrown courtyard. The southern wall bears a bas-relief sculpture in the form of a triptych. In the first scene, a heroiclooking bearded figure takes leave of four similarly attired companions, who rise off into the heavens, leaving him to stand vigil over the large mountain in the background. The next scene depicts the bearded figure in battle with a flaming half man, half snake creature wielding a spear. The fire spirit transfixes the bearded hero with the spear, seemingly striking a killing blow. In the final scene, the hero appears twice—once on the ground with a wound in his back and once standing over this form, looking down upon it sadly.

This is the same man in the other bas-reliefs. At the end of this corridor there is a doorway[headed south { left on the map} and another corridor like this one headed back north [right on the map] adn then there is the courtyard.

Spoiler:
Vrealk turns away from that door for now, and heads to the north, investigating that hallway. I'll just take 10 on all my perception and stealth checks; that should give me results of 15 and 27, respectively

The Exchange

Hey, weren't you taught that it is impolite to use spoilers? The rest of us might like to know what's going on.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena waits patiently for the sound of screaming goblins.

Spoiler:

The doorway leads you into another hall, 10' wide and 30 feet long. Following that to the end and you come to a large but plain interior hallway leads to the various chambers of the monastery’s southern wing. A weather-worn statue of a winged woman stands in the middle of the hall.
You see 3 doorways on the right, two on the left and one at the end of the hall that looks like it leads back to the nave at the entrance of the monastery.

"Markhet is getting hungry," the gnome whispers, "when this gnome earns her freedom she will decided when she eats, and Markhet plans to eat all the time. And only cake. Markhet loves cake. Cake and eggs, Markhet also likes eggs. Markhet wonders if there are any eggs around here?"

Celena simply stares at the strange Gnome after her random outburst then goes back to polishing the hammer.

Hearing Marhket's words Ayish smiles and reaches out to gently squeeze the Gnome's small shoulder.

"You're in luck then, little one. One of the ingredients in making a cake is egg. So you now know you will be enjoying both your favurite treats." She smiles at Marhket.

"I do hope our Goblin freind is all right." She adds just as softly, now beginning to look nervously at her brother and his large freind.

She likes eggs in cake and eggs by them selves. Markhet wasn't a very good cook though and she got into trouble. Then she was sold to the shouter. Markhet didn't like him very much but she did enjoy the work she got from him. Markhet was in charge of his lions."

"Markhet thinks our goblin friend will be all right, he is very sneaky after all. Larrs and Markhet are very sneaky too but bot as sneaky as Vrealk"

GM

Everyone waiting for a goblin still right?

Vrealk

Spoiler:

You creep along the right side to the wooden door, it seems a bit dry rotted but closed. No sound seems to come from inside. Then you make your way across the hall to an open door way

Ten bunk beds in various stages of disrepair fill this chamber, which must once have been a dormitory for students. The roof is mostly intact. The east and west walls both bear sturdy wooden doors leading to other rooms, and an open arch in the southeast corner of the room leads into a darkened antechamber, perhaps a large closet

You cross back across the hall, right in front of the statue a door hangs ajar. Five austere beds line the north wall of this humble office and
living quarters. A dented metal chest rests at the foot of each bed, and a simple mosaic pattern of red and orange glass chips brings some color to the wall. A layer of grime and filth coats many of the surfaces in this small room, and the redolent stench of dirty fur hangs heavy in the
air.

Laying in the floor are five scrawny half starved looking hyenas among scattered bones, they seem to have not noticed you so far, just as you look inside the door, in a fit of badluck the door falls from it's hinges as you peek though. The hyenas react and spot you...laughter like howls go up as they spring toward you

Roll Init here, also you are 165 feet and 3 halls away from the rest of the group

Everyone else, From the south side of the monastery , down the darkened halls where Vrealk vanished some time ago you here loud yapping howls.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"....... Guess he went that way" Celena says before running in the direction of the noise.

The Exchange

Xerxzayas will summon a dire rat before moving to the aid of his teammate. Mamood moves to remain in front of Xerxzayas

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena shrugs as he draws his morningstar and begins trotting towards the sound of the disturbance.

GM

I know Xerxzayas is single move do to the summons but are the rest of you single or double move?

Male Human Cleric 5

Double move for N'Djamena

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Double move for Celena

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

At the sound of that emanates from the darkness and the rest of her parties reactions, Ayish draws her Rapier and dagger and hurries after them.

Um, single move from Ayish the un-armored, not very combat proficient Bard.

She clears her throat and prepares a tune to rally her friends.

Assuming there is any Bardic ability left in Ayish, that is. *bows*

Markhet spurs Larrs into a run, taking a double move (80ft) in the direction she thinks Vrealk is in.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

initiative 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Spoiler:
Vrealk turns and runs as quickly as he can around the other direction; pulling his short sword as he runs ...

GM

The group runs down the bas-relief covered hall with little heed to the danger, Market and Larrs rushing ahead as the yapping howls get closer

Vrealk

Spoiler:

You run , but the pack as close behind you, you can feel the hot breath and the yapping is almost deafening. You know you can not outrun them and you feel fear in the pit of your stomach

Notes I forgot the rat on the map, but he is there in front of Mamood unless you had other plans for him.. Ayish you have 2 rounds left on bardic performance

The Exchange

I'm fine with having the rat in front of Mamood
Xerxzayas remains at the rear of the group and sends Mamood and the summoned dire rat ahead to attack whatever it is that caused Vrealk to scream.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish pads along, now near the back of the party. She holds her song for the 'thick' of combat and steels herself to possibly attack some one with her rapier and dagger.

With only two rounds to help every one, I'll wait until combat has well and truly started before using up the last dregs of Bardic song for the day. *bows*

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena rushes towards the open door.

point of fact, Vrealk never screamed or uttered a sound. The screams were from my new friends ...

Vrealk tears down the hallway as fast as his legs can carry him. As he barrels through the archway, he sees the rest of the group a little further down. "Hyenas!" he pants, halting right in front of Markhet and turning to face the beasts. Double move, to end up in the square right in front of Markeht's current position on the map.

Would anyone like to change actions now that Vrealk is close to Y'all?

Hyena's are going before Celena so I'll wait and see what they do.

Male Human Cleric 5

Likewise for N'Djamena

GM

Ok note here, Ayish has not poste back but I do not think she would run out in front so am holding her action

Vrealk comes barreling down the hall yelling about hyenas just as they burst though the doorway behind him.

Three hyenas don't even slow down but run down the unexplored hall, while the last two out of the doorway block the end of the hall and stand snapping and howling not far from Vrealk

Spoiler:
You hear movement to the left in the over grown garden

OK folks actions?

Your map guys

Markhet casts guidance on Larrs and orders him into battle. They move diagonally to attack the hyena closest to the door.

Larrs attacks! 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Perception for Markhet: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Perception for Larrs: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

"Markhet hears something over there," Markhet says pointing as she hangs onto the charging Larrs, "Gets him Larrs! Gets that mangy dog!"

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Celena charges the nearest Hyena and brings the just clean hammer down on it

Attack

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

damage

1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

The Exchange

Xerxzayas sends his summoned dire rat to attack the hyenas, then moves to a position about 20 feet behind the 'front line'.
Mamood moves (ending up behind Markhet and Larrs) to support the front line.

Dire Rat
Bite 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Damage 1d4 ⇒ 3 There's also a fort save for disease, but the disease doesn't take effect for d3 days.

Celena Ashram wrote:

I think they're too far away for you to charge, according to the map

N'Djamena also charges to the attack, focusing the destructive force of Nethys on the laughing scoundrels.

Charge, using Destructive Smite if possible

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8, +1 if Destructive Smite is used.

GM

Sigh sorry didn't see this all ready Friday, been a hectic weekend

Larrs leaps forward over Vrealk to bit at one of the Hyena's he injures it but it does not go down. Xerxzayas'S rat moves forward but is unable to land a bite on the hyena , both him and Mamood move forward, Xerxzayas hanging back from the front line, Celena charges forward but with her small legs and armor she just makes it halfway down the hall. N'Djamen charges forward his mace crackling with black lighting as he slams it into the howling hyena with a CRACK!. The beast looks unsteady on it's feet.

Notes : I had Ayish in the wrong spot, she should not have moved yet, Celena can not make it to the hyenas speed of 15 and all. N'Djamen you can use the smite

On to round 2
Init
Vrealk=17
Ayishida=15
Hyenas=15
Larrs=14
Markhet=14
Xerzayas=14
Celena=12
N'djamena=12

Map, if anyone is in the wrong place let me know.

The Exchange

Where is the summoned Dire Rat? If he can't get into the fight that's ok with me. He'll still be there for backup.

Xerxzayas prepares an Acid Splash but not cast it yet.

Mamood maintains his position in case he needs to step in for an injured party member.

Summoned Dire Rat bites (or impatiently waits to bite)
Bite 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Damage 1d4 ⇒ 2

Depending on what the hyenas do, Markhet will get Larrs to hop to the other side of the Hyena to allow a flank.

I believe the DC should be 5+CMD:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Larrs will then attempt to bite from the other side of the flank.

Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk lashes out at the hyena in front of him with his short sword (no flank bonus or sneak attack since Markhet moves after him).

short sword 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

I believe Larrs gets a roll to confirm a crit ...
