Xerxzayas and Mamood investigate more of the monastery. Xerxzayas wants to determine its worth as a bulwark for the upcoming difficulties with the gnolls.

Xerxzayas: Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Mamood: Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

GM

I am guessing your still inside the chapel?

While there are some windows and the roof is not intact, you should be able to see a good amount from the rafters, In fact you can see the ruined town far in the distance across the pesh fields from up there

Loot able items

Spoiler:

You also find a torn out copys of The birth of light and truth the holy book of Sarenrae which is covered in excrement, you also find loose coin 18 gp worth and some valuable holy relics and trinkets Appraise check

The Exchange

Seeker/Ayish/N'Djamena:

Spoiler:
Appraise 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
I will have Ayish to use prestidigitation to clean it off and will keep it to turn it in to the faithful of Sarenrae. I'll let N'Djamena know of it as well.

"Thank you, friend-priest! Me owe you one. Stupid vermin hit much harder than usual rats and bugs, that for sure!" He gets up, and realizes something. "You know, rats and things sometimes collect shiny things. Me wonder if these do, too?" Vrealk begins poking around the nest and on the dead pugwampis, looking for anything of value.

"Don't thank me, (ugh) goblin. Thank almighty Nethys for his bounty." N'Djamena fastidiously wipes off his hand after touching Vrealk. "And speaking of bounty, I think we ALL deserve to share in any treasures you find, don't you agree?"

He keeps a close eye on Vrealk's potentially sticky fingers.

GM

Xerxzayas

Spoiler:
The items all told could bring maybe 35 gp+ the coins you found. Also the books was in parts ripped and torn pages, still as you start to clean them you feel a presence, as if someone is watching you. Some how its a calming presence and oddly warm but not hot more like a feeling of acceptance as you stand near the ruined alter cleaning the destroyed and defiled book

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Celena once she is back on the ground heads over to where the hammer fell and looks around for it.

GM

The hammer is not hard to find. It looks to be a well balanced and well made hammer:if a bit dirty and mistreated. Nothing it seems a few hours of work can't undo, much to fine a weapon to be left in unskilled hands.

The Exchange

Everyone can read the spoiler from my previous post.

I'll divide the gold evenly, 6gp each. The last 5 will be given as an offering, 3 to Nethys by way of N'Djamena and 2 to Sarenrae as we will be using her temple as a defensive position. Also, as mentioned in the spoiler, I'll see to getting the book back in good shape. (I forgot Mending as well)

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena gratefully blesses the group's generosity in the name of Nethys and holds onto the donation for safekeeping.

"What about the green faith?" Markhet asks, "is this gnome's faith not to be honoured as well?"

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena sniffs.

"How do you donate money to nature? Do you throw it in a bush or something?"

Markhet giggles at the priest's naivety.

"Markhet thinks the priest is being silly!" she laughs, "what would a bush do with money!

"No there are shrines and places sacred to my people," the gnome says suddenly taking on the air of authority, "none as grand as this, but then we don't have the need to prove our god's existence or importance. People can see that in the majesty of nature, the wonder of life, and there is no greater chapel then father sky. No the green faith needs money to support it's people just as your god's people needs it, we tend the shrines, and heal those in need. Mother takes care of her children but we need to feed and cloth the faithful in times of need. Wood cutters chop and destroy what the mother has wrought but with a little incentive they can be persuaded not to destroy but to tend and there can be harmony between the big folk and the land."

The Exchange

"you are absolutely right, markhet. i was remiss in not including the green faith. please take these three gold coins of my own money and put them to good use."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk comes down out of the nest holding a small chest. "Me found some other nice things, me think. Anyone figure out what these is?"

He sets the small chest down, and opens it, pulling out a small golden ring made in the patterns of feathers, and a small box on a leather cord. "Me check this box first, see if it have any nasty stuff."

Vrealk will inspect the tiny box, to see if there's any traps or anything. If not, he'll open it. perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Celena from the moment she gets her hands on it begins to obsessively try and clean it.

Xerxzayas wrote:

Markhet's eyes go wide at the summoner's generosity.

"Markhet couldn't possibly accept as much as the priest," Markhet says, "we of the green faith have no silk robes or gilded gold cups, there are no cathedrals to maintain, no guards, and no great libraries. We are a simple people. We will accept one gold piece. Thank you very much."

Markhet bows deeply.

The Exchange

After giving Markhet the gold coin, Xerxzayas and Mamood go outside to inspect the rest of the grounds of the monastery.

GM

do you plan to explore the two alcoves (west and east of the chapel) or to explore one of the doorways in the long entry hall? there are 3 the nearist 25' outside the chapel or 5 feet past the east facing alcove

The Exchange

Thank you for pointing those out. I had not taken another look at the description. We'll go to the eastern alcove first.

Also don't go too far, this is a big place and we've only cleared one room!

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish happily uses her magic to be of some use to her friends. At the comments between Markhet and N'Djamena she smiles and walks over to kneel down beside the Gnome. Hugging Market Ayish says quietly,

"You have my deepest thanks, little one." (^_^)

At Vrealk's showing of the spoils of the fight in the rafters that happened high above her head, Ayish shifts over and watches the Goblin as he practices his skills at searching the found baubles.

"Sadly, freind Vrealk, I have no abilities in seeing the arcane." She says sadly.

The Exchange

I can detect magic, though not identify.

GM

Xerzzayas

Spoiler:

If you detected magic I am guessing 1 round was used. Then the ring, the tiny box on the leather cord and the hammer celena has now are magic

Who all went to explore the alcove?

Alcove

Spoiler:

This chamber still has an intact roof, the eastern wall is dominated by a bas-relief of a breaded humanoid appearing to a group of robed pilgrims. The being holds it's hands out in a sign of peace. Many limbs and faces on the bas-relief have been worn down or damaged, the expressions rang from beatific to horrified.

A crude stone stele seems to have been erected more recently then the abandonment of the monastery: A graven inscription on the stele reads "A ghost of unholy mien was purged from this place by Theodephus Estrovan, servant of Iomedae 4691 AR":

know religion DC 15

Spoiler:

The breaded man is depicted in a manner of the faith of Sarenrae saints, but is not one of the more common and well known ones

know religion DC 25

Spoiler:
The man is an obscure regional saint named Vardishal

Edited to make it a bit more clear I hope

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena will check out the alcove as well.

Know: Rel 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

"Hm. The man depicted here must be a saint holy to Sarenrae. But only Nethys knows all!"

GM

A note here Theodephus is the name on the stele, something that is newer then the fallen monastery only a few years it being 4709 and that being erected in 4691. So the man on the wall is not Theodephus

Male Human Cleric 5

Oops...fixed.

The Exchange

1 round is good for now. I'll tell everyone that the ring, the tiny box on the leather cord and the hammer Celena has now are all magic.

"what sort of ghost could have haunted this holy place?"

Markhet blinks, unsure of what she's done to earn such praise, but she returns the hug.

"You are welcome Ayishida," the gnome says, "Markhet doesn't know what she has done to earn your thanks. Ayishida is the one who healed Markhet after her fall. N'Djamena helped heal everyone else. Larrs did all the hard work . . . Markhet was just along for the ride."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk looks at the items he found with a little awe. "Magic?" He takes up the ring and small box, and hands them to N'Djamena. "Here, friend-priest. You save me, me thinks you should have one of these. Then you decide who gets the other one, since me not know what they are, anyway. Maybe Markhet get one, too? Her and Larrs very helpful against the dog-pests!"

GM

Anything else here? next alcove? deeper into the monastery? or what?

The Exchange

Sorry, I'll search the next alcove.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Mamood: Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Male Human Cleric 5

N`Djamena checks out the other alcove as well.

GM

This debris-laden chamber once held a shrine and wooden altar, but all of that was smashed decades ago by vandals. The ceiling here has remained intact over the years, helping to preserve a huge bas-relief statue of a
muscular humanoid man with a pointy beard gesturing toward a huge mountain in the background, his face a picture of mortal concern.[same man as in the other room]

A DC 10 Knowledge (local)

Spoiler:

The mountain in the background is Pale Mountain, largest of the Brazen Peaks and the site of many fell legends.

A DC 15 Knowledge (religion)

Spoiler:

the bearded figure is depicted in a manner similar to the way in which the faith of Sarenrae depict their saints, but this is not one of the more frequently honored saints of that faith.

A DC 25 Knowledge (religion)

Spoiler:
c
the image is a very obscure regional saint named Vardishal.

Unfortunately she seems to obsessed with cleaning the hammer to really notice much.

Male Human Cleric 5

For what it's worth, N'Djamena scans both alcoves for magic.

The Exchange

When done with the alcove, we'll go to the closest door. I'll have Mamood open it while I stand ready with a spell.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk follows behind the spellcasters, peering into the alcoves from behind them. After the alcoves are scanned, Vrealk pipes up a bit, "You want me to scout rest of church? Me can look real quick, then come back and tell everybody what me sees! Better to know what out there and not be surprised, right?"

GM

Nothing magic shows in the Alcoves. Which of the three doors down the hall do you wish to check out?

"Markhet thinks we should camp out," the gnome says, "so we can get our spells back. Markhet is out of magic."

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish follows along behind her brother and the others quietly. While she is physically not tired, having done little more than stretch her diaphragm with singing, something within her essence feels depleted. At Markhet's words Ayish sighs, understanding and empathizing with the little Gnome, the feelings inside her seeming to weigh her down.

Happy to follow the party's lead. :) *bows*

The Exchange

I'm not really sure of the map, so I'll trust your judgment. But I believe I said the one closest to the second alcove.

GM

Ok have a map here which way you wish to go west hall or north hall

The doorway opens into a set of cloisters, with one wall looking to lead into a nave, both corridors seem to have bas-reliefs on them, but you can not tell much without getting closer.

I think we will give the west hall a try

"Hmm going to have to get a name for you." Celena seems to whisper to the hammer as she walks along.

Male Human Cleric 5

west sounds good

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish walks along meekly behind her brother and his large companion. Seeming happy to follow the rest of the parties lead, though her hand is seen to hover near the hilt of her whip.

Happy to follow every one else. :)

The Exchange

West hall it is.

GM

The outer wall of the west cloister passage bears a massive carving. The central figure—the heroic man with the pointed beard—preaches to a variety of human clerics from throughout the long history of the monastery. The first image depicts the figure manifesting in a spiritual manner to a small group of pilgrims of Sarenrae. Another shows the figure conversing with a man in religious finery while the monastery itself is being constructed in the background. Thereafter follows a procession of similar poses, each depicting a visit by the bearded man and the leader of each era of the temple. The depictions of these clerics often also bear an identifying inscription, complete with dates that span the last several hundred years. The most recent carving is from thirty years ago, and while ample room remains for additional carvings on the west wall, the last thirty feet or so are completely blank. Two open arches on opposite ends of the west wall lead out into the ruined nave.
