What, the place isn't already desecrated? I would think with pugwampis, stirges, hyenas, etc. that this would be pretty un-sacred ground. :-)
"Me thinks friend Xer ... Xev ... Summoner is right. We should check the garden. May be lots of bugs and vermin in there, so be ready!"

You force your way though the underbush, once inside you see Huge branches and overgrown weeds clog the central open air courtyard of the monastery’s cloister walk. In better times, the monastic priests would have contemplated the open space while circling the cloister, but today it is barely possible to see a few feet into the tangled mess, let alone all the way to the opposite cloister walk. Here and there the brush thins out enough that a dedicated explorer might be able to create a sort of passage, but mostly it is an impassable mess

Agreed to the resting for the night part. :)
Ayish is wary as Mahmood goes to work tearing and ripping into the foliage.
"Some small part of me feels there should be a better way to deal with the growth of neglect.[/smaller]" Ayish sighs, while also possibly looking out for yet more Hyenas which may materialize from said disturbed underbrush.
Markhet
"Markhet likes all the gardens and plants," the cheerful little gnome says, "but why bring a garden inside this one wonders? Markhet thinks that gardens should be outside so that all of the mother's creatures can enjoy it."
"Do you think this temple can be restored?" Markhet asks no one in particular, "This one thinks that all of the statues and things are really nice, but everything has been destroyed and ruined. Markhet thinks that this temple should be torn down and maybe later rebuilt."

"I don't think tearing it down is necessary, but a lot of work will be required to fix it. Nevertheless, we shouldn't be tearing down statues or gold filigree, if they can be saved."
How far away are we from the caravan?
Ayishidaj -bintel-Quivarashidj
Ayish coughs quietly as the groups talking drifts towards the 'reclaiming' of certain items.
"Perhaps now that we have removed the threats, the caravan can also use this place for resting and defense? The quicker to start returning the Church to rights?" She adds just as softly, standing quietly in the shadow of Xerxzayas,
Markhet
"Markhet thinks that the gold will be stolen if the mistress reopens this battle market, there will be much traffic this one thinks, and someone will eventually come along as steal it. Markhet thinks that if we salvage it ourselves we can donate the largest part of it back to the church. Markhet believes that if that is our clear intent from the outset that the gods will be forgiving."

We were sent to clear the monastery out to use it as a base of operations while exploring the area. Once we've cleared it, the rest of the caravan will come in as well.
"all will be well. i'm sure in time a proper priest of sarenrae will and rededicate this building. until then, i think it best if we do not make too many more changes. once we have finished making sure the place is safe and the caravan comes here, perhaps you and the other ladies would like to have this room as yours. that way you can keep the gold safe. i don't think lady almah would protest."
How much time has passed since we started investigating the monastery?
Markhet
"Markhet is obviously not a follower of Sarenrae but even she thinks leaving that gold out in the open is foolish. Markhet is certain someone will steal it long before a priest come all the way out here to reclaim the temple. Best to take it now so that most of the gold can make it's way back to the church . . . but if the others think leaving all that money just lying around Markhet is sure it will vanish and we will be out of a commission."
N'Djamena
I don't really care either way, but we're out of healing (I think N'Djamena has one channel left) so try not to get wounded. :)
N'Djamena barks, "Markhet! Just leave the temple alone! How would you like it if I slaughtered your animal friend for his pelt, eh? It would show a great amount of disrespect!"
Ayishidaj -bintel-Quivarashidj
Ayish moves over and places an arm gently around the little Gnomes shoulders, not hard with Marhket atop her large feline. She looks to N'Djamena with an eyebrow arched,
"Diplomacy sir, diplomacy." She gently admonishes him.
"Now now, Marhket. This place will be safe for the short amount of time it takes us to bring the rest of the caravan here." A look crosses Ayish' features,
"Though, there is now only the small matter of the.." Marhket feels a shudder ripple through Ayish, "...clogged basement." She finishes with a sigh.
EEeeeeeew! Icky, barefoot fungus time. >.<

"Me thinks you not need to be so harsh, friend priest. Me sorry for suggesting it. Let's go look in the basement."

Markhet's eyes go wide
"The priest equates the slaughter of animals for their pelts to reclaiming gold found in an abandoned temple? While Markhet is concerned over the priest's sense of proportion she is pleased to gain an ally against those that would defile the land. Markhet will leave the gold alone but she will remind the priest of his convictions when the creatures of her forest are threatened by vile hunters and trappers."

Maybe I'm confused. Wasn't the point of cleaning out the temple to see if it could be fixed up?
I don't believe there were any immediate plans for temple, we were simply clearing it so we could use it as a staging ground for the assault on the battle market.
'Very well that solves that' She saying waving Daski away with the dead beast. "However this area is likely to house more of the pugwampi was it? There stands an old monastery of Sarenrae just outside of Kelmarane. It would make a much better base of operations , but is undoubtedly inhabited. It will have to be cleared." She looks each of you in the eyes as if examining you for some inner answer to something.
Oh and the battle market is the big building in the centre of Kelmrane. That's our main goal. Our boss works for some group called 'the pact makers' or something like that. She's part of a militant merchant organization. Clearing this place is just a step in reclaiming the main prize.

Where does it say all of that? Is this all in the Player's Guide, or something? Maybe I need to give it another careful look.

Ok guys sorry for the slow update. I just got busier then I thought I would.
You make your way back though the monastery, past the dead Hyenas and into the mold filled stairwell. The chamber it opens into seems to be an enormous laboratory. Against the north and south walls are two identical daises raised about five feet from the laboratory floor, each accessed by a wide set of curved stairs. Atop each dais is a wide workbench covered in a bewildering series of glass beakers, tubes, alembics, athanors, and other alchemical tools. Some of these containers are filled with a murky
green substance. A massive mold-encrusted basalt table dominates the entrance of the room, flanked by two small tables to the east and west containing surgical tools and sheaves of old parchment. The walls of the
subterranean lab were clearly fashioned from the living rock under the monastery, but carefully cut mold-encrusted tiles line the floor, interrupted occasionally by metal drains the size of dinner plates.

Feeling responsible for having everyone down here, X stops hesitating and goes into the room to inspect the apparati (apparatus? apparatuses?). Only occasionally will he touch anything or clear mold from an area to inspect it better.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Mammood watches warily from the hallway leading out of the area (it looks like an exit at the top left of the map)
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
