Geleri Fairwind |

Fairwind narrows her eyes and comes close to Brujo. Speaking quietly, she says to him, "We get it, spell-boy. Ya feel bad about what happened. Now quit takin' it out on whoever comes along, leastways take it out on someone yer own size." she adds, looking into his eyes before walking off.

Perigia |

"You okay, fire-lady?" Snaggletooth speaks up. "You no look so hot."
sorry, I couldn't resist. Snaggletooth, on the other hand is not being funny, but genuinely concerned.
He thinks for a second, "You don't like dead things either, huh? Ugly, nasty dead things are bad, yes, but not bad as sneaky creepers. Dead things don't blow up when you kill them." He shudders, remembering the fight with the dark creepers. "I have sword now. I am mighty warrior, too. Those creepers better look out next time we meet them." It almost sounds like Snaggletooth is trying to convince himself of that.
"I'm okay," Perigia says to Snaggletooth. "I just don't like the idea that someone could turn us against each other so easily. It's not right."

Brujo |

Brujo glares at the half-elven woman "I'm just stating my thoughts and what I know to be true. As for 'feeling bad' I could care less about what happened. It was a mistake, one that will never happen again"
Walking down the corridor he stares at the door, "So how wants to knocks on the creepy wooden door? I think this is the kobolds department"

Perigia |

"At least it's not a creepy tunnel in the tomb," Perigia says.

Snaggletooth |

"Blue flame elf, you want my help?" Snaggletooth asks in confusion. "Oh, you worried about more traps. O.K. Snaggletooth will check." He proceeds to do just that.
move up to door, perception (d20+9, 26) to search for traps and, if needed, thievery (d20+12, 31) to bypass/disarm. I LOVE MY GREEN d20!!!! I just hope it doesn't fail me at the wrong time.

Rev DM |

Snaggletooth's remarkably acute senses serve him well as he fiddles with the door. Although it requires no special skill to open, as he checks the fastening for traps, he is certain he can hear something coming from the other side. A faint skittering sound accompanied by the crunch of something being moved.
The kobold can sense no traps on this door or the area around it.

Snaggletooth |

Quietly, Snaggletooth puts one finger to his mouth. "Shhhh," he whispers. "Something moving in there. But no traps." Something about the sound makes Snaggletooth think of Kneebiter, being tied up and dragged along the floor. "Follow me" he says as he kicks the door open to surprise whatever is in that room.
that's what I thought about when I read your description, Rev, that we might be close on the heels of Kneebiter's captors.-Besides, someone has to start the action!

Rev DM |

Snaggletooth kick opens the door easily.
He sees that the room is essentially the Tower stores. Multiple boxes, containers and crates have been pulled into rough walls around the room, piled so high that you cannot see over them. Further, the basement is adorned with huge spiderwebs. The cause is sitting close to the door as Snaggletooth enters, legs extended and poised to leap. The sad remains of a small creature lies web-wrapped at its feet.
Nor is the spider alone. Scuttling towards the nearest box rampart, you see a clawed, chitinous figure, roughly humanoid in shape, but with curiously bisected arms.
Nature checks to identify, DC10 or 15
The map is a little complex. You are entering from the pale corridor top right. Snaggletooth has just gone through the door. The dark strips in the pale corridor are meant to be boxes, but got a little big. The second pale area to the left [i]is[/] a flight of stairs going up. You can't see the orange area yet at all.
Note that boxes are difficult terrain (move 2) and so are the pale elongated blobs (spider webs).
Roll init and state positions please everyone. Also ask any questions about the map.

Rev DM |

Cronin
They have a spiritual kinship with spiders and scorpions and use them as human hunters use dogs or drakes. Ettercaps are not particularly clever, but they are cunning and often used by more powerful creatures as guards.
Init so far
Cronin
Ettercap
Caine
Brujo

Leo the half elven Paladin |

Snaggletooth kick opens the door easily.

Nature checks to identify, DC10 or 15
Leo's Nature check was a total of 18
Leo rolled a 17 on initiative and moves to try and reach Caine's side at E-18 if thats okay

Cronin |

Cronin is up - note that neither he nor Leo have enlightened te rest of the group about what they are facing.
Just waiting for everyone to finish rolling dice!
Cronin eases past Snaggletooth (F18) and points at the ettercap. "Fall!" he shouts.
To his comrades: "Careful -- that ettercap means there are probably more spiders around -- as well as whatever brought it here."
Command v Will (1d20+6=20) If that hits the ettercap's Will, it is dazed through my next turn and knocked prone.

Its been years since I last heard of ettercaps and am still getting used to the fact I can comment as afree action!
"Oh great, that thing loves spinning webs and it will have company, lots of spiders and maybe more ettercaps be wary,"Leo mutters looking like he really doesn't like spiders...

Rev DM |

Chittering with fury, E1 collapses in a heap, dazed by Cronin's power. It struggles to its feet, gesturing and squealing.
At the sound, two further Ettercaps appear from behind the boxes, wielding greataxes and a slightly larger one with more pronounced mandibles clambers up to survey the terrain.
Note that E2 and W are on the boxes and therefore about 5 feet up. Climbing the boxes requires a DC10 Athletics check.
Caine is up
Brujo
Leo
Webslinger (W)

Leo the half elven Paladin |

Recklessly, Commander Caine hurls himself towards the spider. The arachnid is made of tougher stuff than he thought however, and dodges quickly aside.
Brujo eyes the developing battlefield and bides his time.
Leo is up
Webspinner
Spiders
Leo moves first to F-17 then diagonally so he ends up on D-15 and employs valiant strike on E#2, if its not too much trouble could you make this roll for me as I can't make any rolls where I'm currently typing? It should be +9 to hit and does 1d8+4 damage if it hits and if it does both E#2 and the spider are divine challenged if I remember valiant strike rules correctly.
Leo sidesteps to move past Fairwind and moves to engage one of the crate bound foes whilst drawing the ire of Caine's opponent.

Rev DM |

No problem Leo. I don't think you can divinely challenge more than one enemy at a time, but I will check. I'm guessing that if you have to pick one, you'd prefer the challenge to go to E2?
Leo stides towards the crouching ettercap and drives his blade home with precision.
Leo v E2 (AC) (1d20 9=22, 1d8 4=8)
In response, the webspinner clicks and fires sticky web from its imposing mandibles, neatly entangling both Cronin and Fairwind and immobilising the pair. Sidling closer, it aims a further jet of sticky web at Leo, which falls harmlessly away as the deft paladin spots the move in time and dodges.
The spiders lunge forward, eager to taste fresh meat. S1 misses Snaggletooth, but Commander Caine sustains a nasty bite from S2 and feels horribly as though the world has slowed down as poison courses through his veins.
Webbed terrain v Caine, Leo, Fairwind, Cronin, Snaggletooth (on hit target immobilised, save ends). (1d20 9=13, 1d20 9=11, 1d20 9=27, 1d20 9=25, 1d20 9=16). Webbed Terrain - rechargeable power. Creates a zone of spider web which on hit immobilises the target (save ends). Zone becomes difficult terrain to the end of the encounter - a diffculty which does not affect creatures with the web walker ability..
Bite attack v Caine (1d20 6=21, 2d6 3=8). 8hp damage to Caine, 5 ongoing poison damage and slowed (save ends both)
Snaggletooth is up - on difficult terrain
Fairwind - immobilised
Perigia

Perigia |

Perigia moves to were she can see the battlefield and casts Sleep into E12. 1d20+5=15 (E3), 1d20+5=8 (W), 1d20+5=21 (E1), 1d20+5=15 (S2) vs Will. Those who are hit are slowed (save ends, failed save results in unconciousnes) Those who are missed are slowed (save ends)
I wasn't sure if there was a door or if we were all in the open, sorry.

Rev DM |

There is a door. Perigia is in the corridor leading to the room at the moment (the pale beige is the corridor). Snaggletooth is in front of the door at the moment. Once you cross the green line, you are in difficult terrain due to the webslinger's antics. What's the range of Sleep? You can stand at G19 and fire from there to hit the bad guys.
Apologies if that was not clear to anyone.

Snaggletooth |

Snaggletooth, seeing that he can't move effectively, decides to face the foe in front of him. He takes a deep breath and gives a fierce growl. "GRRRRRRRRRRRR!" He thinks to himself, 'at least they are not dead things.' as he strikes, making an opportunity for himself.
it is riposte strike time again. (d20+8,24, if hit, 1d6+3, 5 hp damage, and set up for riposte)

Rev DM |

EDIT - Fairwind posted at the same time as me - and using the exact power I just rolled for her.
Teeth gritting, and unable to move, the half-elf woman raises a hand and chants a few arcane syllables. Flame launches towards the ettercaps, hitting the webspinner. The smell of charred spider web fills the air.
With an enormous effort, she pulls her legs and arms free of the sticky mess of webs.
Fairwind is no longer immobilised.
Perigia moves swiftly behind Snaggletooth and sends sweetly scented tendrils of lethargy arcing across the room. The spider and the webspinner are unaffected, but E1, E3 are visibly slowed.
Sleep hits E1, E3. They are both slowed and will become unconscious and prone if they fail their first save.
In a blaze of blue light, Brujo appears beside S2 and deftly finds a way through the creature's defenses. Legs flail as pain hits.
Cronin is up - immobilised
E1 - slowed and needs to save v sleep
E2
E3 - slowed and needs to save v sleep
Caine
Leo

Cronin |

Seeing Brujo and Caine about to be mobbed, Cronin sends a spear of moonlight at the spider they are attacking. He meanwhile fails to extricate himself from the webbing, even after calling on Selune's grace.
Lance of Faith vs S2 Ref - 1d20+6=22, 1d8+6=9 Caine gets +2 to next attack vs S2

Rev DM |

Even as the sticky threads bind him tighter to the spot, Cronin unleashes a burst of divine light at S2. The spider writhes as the glow cuts into its tender underbody.
Clicking and chittering, E1 moves closer to S2 and trys and fails to entangle Brujo is a mess of web before Perigia's spell hits it and it collapses prone and unconscious.
E2 spits web at Leo, and successfully wraps the paladin up like a parcel. With a satisfied hiss, it pulls out its greataxe.
Web tangle (Ref) v Leo (1d20 7=15). Leo is immobilised.
E3 advances on Brujo as well, but like its kin, misses the swordmage. With a triumphant chitter, it casts off the effect of Perigia's spell, and although still slowed, it remains upright.
