Devlin shrugs.
"Seemingly our friend's got the jumps again." He looks around at the comatose twins.
"Reckon I'll be leaving you now. Been good meeting you all."
He runs down the road, nodding briefly at Allan as he passes.
Farrak twitches in his sleep as more divine energy wracks his body. Harrak remains still. Oh joy. I love it when NPCs fail their saving throws ...
Devlin's running and double moving, which will take him off the map. Fairwind gets an OA as he passes, Caine does not due to being dazed.
Fairwind, OA on Devlin
Caine has taken his action
Cronin is up

Geleri Fairwind |

Oh... and he's running... lovely. That will be combat advantage then.
OA on Devlin (inc. CA) with shortsword (1d20+9=13)
Fairwind slashes at the departing cove.
What the hell?

Cronin |

Cronin invokes Selune's grace, saying a word that none can remember, but which restores Chryzylyx to consciousness. He then steps forward and calls up a burst of silvery flame around the hound, but the undead creature seems to dodge it.
Extra healing for Cz (1d6 4=9)
Sacred Flame vs Reflex on hound (1d20 6=10, 1d6 6=9) If by some miracle that hits, Chryzylyx gets a saving throw.
EDIT: Move to D12

Rev DM |

Chryzylyx's wounds look better for Cronin's aid, but the hound is unaffected by his divine power this time.
The Dark Eyed One, glares at Allan and fires another magic missile at Brujo. As it misses, he shrugs. "If you had more faith in eladrin, it might have hit." he remarks, moving to the edge of the road.
Dark Eyed One to J1

Rev DM wrote:Chryzylyx's wounds look better for Cronin's aid,Chryzylyx should be conscious, yes? He goes up to zero, then gets surge + 9
She was at 5hp. Taking the ongoing necrotic at the start of her turn would put her down to 0hp, so your intervention means that she will start her turn on 18hp. That will drop down to 11hp with the ongoing damage kicking in again and she'll have to save against that at the end of her turn. In between those events she is conscious and able to act in any way she chooses.

Leo the half elven Paladin |

Rev DM wrote:Ah, my mistake. I thought she was already dying.Cronin wrote:Chryzylyx should be conscious, yes? He goes up to zero, then gets surge + 9She was at 5hp.
(OOC: Would have been given the hound is on top of her along with the damage she had taken so you could say Brujo saved her life and you made sure she has a chance to actually survive)

Geleri Fairwind |

Move to D15. Minor to sheath shortsword (or is it free? Can't remember without book in front of me.) Standard to mount Perigia's horse.
Fairwind's eyes narrow as Devlin makes his escape; like the wind she heads for Perigia's horse and in a bound leaps onto it.
"Don't mind, do ya?" she says in passing to the genasi, not really expecting an answer.

Perigia |

Perigia shifts to F16 and casts Ray of Frost on Allan. 1d20+4=19 vs. Fort, 1d6+3=5 cold damage, and he is slowed until the end of Perigia's next turn. (Arcane, Cold, Implament)
"Not at all," Perigia say as she passes Fairwind. To Cronin she shouts, "try turning the hound!"

Leo the half elven Paladin |

Very briefly confused when Leo and Chryzylyx swapped positions Leo falls back into his intensive training as he whispers a quick prayer.
"Kelemvor guide my arm and make it tell true upon this abomination!" he mutters as a brief glow flashes outwards engulfing the hound before him before fading from sight.
(Minor action as a divine challenge descends upon the hound)
Even as this fades Leo's sword flashes forward but stumbling because he's still recovering from the sudden shift in position the blade is far off target.
(Holy strike with the longsword rolled a 1 for a total of 10 and yes an automatic miss)
Face falling as a result of this Leo's resolve hardens as he grimaces even as he swings his sword back again in an attempt to keep his guard up.
(Spends an action point to make another attack again with the Holy Strike and this time rolls a 17+9 for 26 doing 1d8+6 as its still marked as the description doesn't say it ends if you miss only that you either have to attack it or end up adjacent for it to stay active for a total of 8pts of radiant damage (or 7 if I'm wrong about it being marked))
This time the blade connects and it literally bursts into light illuminating the area before fading once more...

Rev DM |

Perigia's frosty beam slows Allan in his tracks.
Leo's blow demolishes the hound. With its last breath, it launches itself at the paladin and sinks its teeth into him.
Death Jaws attack on Leo with additional 5 necrotic ongoing damage on hit: (1d20 7=27, 1d6 3=6). That would a crit, which gives Leo 9hp and 5 ongoing necrotic. For something that went down rather easily, it's done some nasty damage.
Hound is dead.
Chryzylyx recovers enough to hurl an eldritch blast in Allan's direction which barely misses him. She retreats into the trees for safety.
Eldritch blast at Allan (v Ref) with added curse damage on hit: (1d20 3=13, 1d10 3=13, 1d6=1)
Chryzylyz to F16
Perhaps the power infused into her by Cronin helps, as sheer force of will allows her to shake off the aftereffects of the hound bite.
Save v necrotic damage: (1d20=12). She's still bloodied, but not longer taking the ongoing damage.
Allan looks at the residue of the failed ambush party. Devlin has run, The Dark Eyed One looks ready to flee, the hound is dead and the twins are unconscious and in one case dieing. He shrugs.
"Pah. Can still take you with me corporal" he snarls, aiming firmly at Commander Caine's guts.
His aim is true, and extremely painful.
Allan's greatsword attack on Caine: (1d20 12=32, 1d10 4=5). Wow. Another crit. Which is 14hp damage to Caine, but with no fancy effects associated with it. Just pain.
END OF ROUND 3
ROUND 4 MAP
Note the following:
Devlin is off the map;
Farrak is unconscious and still taking damage;
Harrak is merely unconscious;
Allan is slowed;
Brujo and Caine are no longer dazed as of the start of their turns;
Fairwind is imitating Zorro;
Leo is taking 5hp ongoing necrotic damage;
Chryzylyx is out of immediate danger, but is still bloodied.

Rev DM |

And Devlin?
Devlin moved 14 squares, which by my calculations takes him to four squares off the map.
If you're asking about init order, he went immediately after Brujo. He's going to keep running, so will have travelled 28 squares by the time your turn with the horse comes up. You can get within 8 squares of him if you double move (within 4 squares if a horse run speed works like character run speed), which would allow you at least to talk to him.

Brujo |

With a flash Brujo appears behind Allan. "Mind if I join"
Fey Step to E9. Flanking Allan with Caine. Minor Action, Aegis of Shielding on Allan.
Brujo brings his sword crashing down on Allan.
Booming Blade 1d20+10=21, +2 from flanking; Damage 1d8+5=7.

Rev DM |

Allan grunts slightly as Brujo's blow connects.
In the distance, Devlin can still just be heard, running fast.
Farrak is once more suffused with divine light. Unable to rouse himself, the power of Kelemvor sears him and he stops breathing.
Save v unconsciousness (1d20=9). Took a further 5hp ongoing for failing to attack Leo (Divine Challenge) and is now dead.
Harrak stirs uneasily, but does not wake.
Save v unconsciousness: (1d20=3)
Caine
Cronin

Commander Caine |

"I will not fall so easily!"
Atk; Guarding Strike Dmg; Thunder Dmg (1d20+9=18, 2d10+4=10, 1d6=3)
I submit that the effects of the Guarding Strike, i.e. +2 to AC can be applied to me.
How do you use healing surge?
Using an Action Point to gain another attack vs. Allan.

Rev DM |

I submit that the effects of the Guarding Strike, i.e. +2 to AC can be applied to me.
How do you use healing surge?
I have real doubts about that Commander. The wording is "Until the end of your next turn, one ally adjacent to you or the target gains a +2 power bonus to AC against the target's attacks". That seems to exclude you. I submit in response that although you can technically be considered an ally of yourself, the power would specifically mention if you could apply it to yourself - as for example in the case of the cleric power Healing Word.
Healing surges can be applied either during a short rest (when out of combat) or as part of the standard action "Second Wind". This allows you to use a healing surge and gives you a +2 to defences until your next turn.
Allan pales and for the first time looks uneasy as Commander Caine's expert blows scythe around him. Although the first blow just misses him, the second strikes true.
Allan is bloodied.

Cronin |

Cronin steps forward and once again invokes the sacred flame, this time on Allan. With it, Cronin's allies begin to recover from their woes.
Sacred Flame vs Allan's Reflex (1d20 6=25, 1d6 6=11)
Move to C10. Leo gets to make a saving throw.
When a power’s target entry specifies that it affects
you and one or more of your allies, then you can take
advantage of the power’s effect along with your teammates.
Otherwise, “ally” or “allies” does not include
you, and both terms assume willing targets. “

Rev DM |

The shifter's blow catches Allan offguard and he staggers.
From the edge of the road, the wizard chants again and hurls a parting magic missile at Commander Caine.
Dark Eyed One magic missile at Caine (v Ref): (1d20 6=15, 2d4 2=9). That just hits. 9hp damage to Commander Caine.
"Too bad you don't like eladrin" he calls, before taking to his heels.
Dark Eyed One is running (he gets 12 squares away) and offers Combat Advantage to anyone capable of hitting him at that range.
Fairwind
Perigia
Leo - who gets a save against the ongoing necrotic damage before he takes the damage as well as another save at the end of his turn in case he fails that one.
Chyrzylyx
Allan - who is bloodied

Rev DM |

43-38 = 5 - 7 temp hit points = -2 hp once the temp is gone. How does healing surge work?
You lose the temporary hit points first, then the permanent ones. You can activate a healing surge on your next turn as a standard action. Cronin can also help you with his Healing Word power which will take you to zero (if you are below 0 by then), allow you use a healing surge and add a further d6 plus his wisdom bonus on top of that.

Leo the half elven Paladin |

(OOC: Rolled a 10 for the save)
Leo is suddenly swathed in glimmering moonlight which ebbs as quickly as it appears and he suddenly stands upright as if some great load has been lifted off his shoulders (or in this case wound).
(OOC: Sorry should say waxes and wanes can never get those two the right way round!)

Leo the half elven Paladin |

(OOC: Technically its Perigia's turn next but I thought I'd post mine early)
Seeing Caine looking about to keel over Leo rushes behind him and steadies him.
"In Kelemvor's name let this man's wounds be healed!" Leo intones as he uses his last lay on hands for the day.
(OOC: Move action to move to E12 I assume a minor action is enough to allow Leo to keep Caine on his feet as he uses his standard action for the Lay on of Hands and spend one of Leo's healing surges to allow Caine to recover as if he spent one of his?)

Rev DM |

Fairwind's yells may not be classic horsemanship, but they certainly provoke a reaction as Perigia's mount hurtles up the road after Devlin.
The horse (and you with it) can double move at a run, so you are within 4 squares of him.
A scream from the Dark Eyed One as he flees confirms Perigia has hit him somewhere sensitive and Commander Caine is looking a lot healthier thanks to Leo's healing powers.
Chryzylyx is also looking a lot brighter. Her accustomed sweetness held firmly at bay and mortally offended by Allan's comments about eladrin, eerie white flames burst from her fingertips and she blasts him into the ground. He hardly notices where his doom comes from, surrounded as he is by enemies.
Eldritch Blast at Allan (inc curse damage on hit) v Ref: (1d20 3=14, 1d10 3=6, 1d6=4). Allan takes 10hp damage and dies.
All except Fairwind and Devlin are out of combat. I'm going to run that separately to save a little time. XP will be allocated on resolution of that scenario.
Please note you have an unconscious bad guy (Harrak) still with you.

Cronin |

Cronin looks after Fairwind for a moment, then turns his attention to what he can affect. "We should bind him," he says to no one in particular. "Someone who's unhurt."
Cronin looks to his new companions' wounds.
I've got a healing word left, so whomever is most hurt can use a highly effective surge (regular value +1d6+4).

Rev DM |

Fairwind
Devlin is going to run again. If you double run, you can catch up with him. Let's assume for the sake of argument that you do just that, and pick it up from there.
Cornered like rat, Devlin halts and keeps his halberd between himself and the horse.
"Mouthy gal." He shakes his head. "Just can't get enough of my charms can you? Who'd you kill back there?"

Rev DM |

Prone beside his dead twin, Harrak stirs, but does not wake.
Save v unconsciousness: (1d20=7). That was one powerful Sleep spell Perigia.

"I'm fine," Leo tells Cronin
(Leo employs second wind at this point reducing the amount of damage he's taken by 9 to 6 thanks to the 7pts of temp hp he had from Caine's bastion of defence and once the fight is over only needs to spend one more healing surge to up to full which would mean he'd have spent 4 of his 10 healing surges)Moving towards Harrak Leo addresses the others present.
"Does anyone vouch for this person or do I finish him here and now?" He asks placing his longsword at Harrak's throat in the process making sure he's actually unconscious and not feigning by keeping his guard up.
(OOC: This is NOT a bluff, Leo is Unaligned and whilst he doesn't much care for killing even Harrak whilst he's down he was hunting Brujo for the express purpose of having him killed and reanimated something that is much against Leo's faith, BUT that doesn't mean Leo won't allow the rest of the party present from intervening on Harrak's behalf (And yes I'm noting this because I've actually playing in a campaign where the player running the paladin does this to any evil foe we've captured using by means that make him even more evil than the npc he's killed) so I feel obliged to allow the party to prevent this if they want)

Cronin |

Moving towards Harrak Leo addresses the others present.
"Does anyone vouch for this person or do I finish him here and now?" He asks placing his longsword at Harrak's throat in the process making sure he's actually unconscious and not feigning by keeping his guard up.
Cronin watches the half-elf, then speaks levelly, "There is no need for that, and there may be need for him. Also, remember: while they drew weapons first, we struck the first blow. After that, killing him in his sleep does us no credit."

Rev DM |

Appropriately enough under the circumstances...
Save v unconsciousness: (1d20=15)
Harrak coughs and opens his eyes to find a sword at his throat. Seconds pass as the man realises that the body beside him belongs to his twin. He slumps, apparently unable to do or say anything, eyes glazed and expression blank.

"Congratulations it appears Kelemvor has spared your life, I suggest you don't squander it by doing something truly foolish," Leo tells him.
"Thank you for speaking up, whilst I truly don't care for anyone who traffics with the making of undead that doesn't mean I won't listen to reason, perhaps someone would disarm our friend here and tie his hands before his wounds are tended to?" Leo says to the others nodding his thanks to Cronin whilst keeping Harrak at sword point until he's disarmed and secured.
(OOC: Its also nice to know just how far the others are prepared to go in such matters.)

Confrontin' Devlin
She continues "So... you gonna run, and know that we're gonna hunt you down like the spoor snufflin' leucrotta ye are? Or... ya gonna surrender and I'll see if I can keep soldier-boy from demonstratin' some more o' that Cormyran muscle?"
