Perception Results:
Joe: 21
Eltumal: 20
Jivaji: 14
Silent: 25
Tam: 11(This is without any ranks in your percetion skill giving it only a +2. I couldn't find the skill in your profile so could you please post ALL of your skill modifier totatls. This applies to everyone.

Silent, Joe, and Eltumal:

You guys see out of the corner of your eyes a ghostly figure of a women floating just to the right of the group. It was brief. She vanishes just as you notice her. One distinguishing feature is that her neck appeared to be broken and her head was laying on her shoulder.

You all hear an eerie voice coming from all around. "It hurts.....it hurts.....WHY!"

Will Saves
Jivaji: 6 :p
Joe: 15
Eltumal: 9
Silent: 21
Tam: 18

Eltumal and Jivaji are now frightened. Oh that reminds me, all the other conditions with the exception of fatigue are no longer in affect.

There is an opening here to prepare or run.

M Human Fighter 1

Seeing the broken ghost, Joe can't help but feel sorry for it. "Hey ghost lady!" He calls out as he looks all around. "Maybe we can help ya with your hurt! If ya tell us what happened to ya, maybe we can figur' out a way to fix ya! You can talk to us, we'll help ya if we can!" He looks to the others shrugging. "Can't hurt. Maybe there's a way to fix a ghost." He returns to looking around to see if the ghost responds.

Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Nice rolls! >:[
Jivaji had just located the magic powder and was on the way back before the wailing pierces his soul and leaves him shaking. "Heh, ok, guys, GUYS? I don't think we can help. I think.. Yes I think we should leave. IS ANYONE LISTENING? We should go!" Jivaji swallows hard, hoping everyone heard him, and thought his plan sound.

Male Elf Alchemist 2

"I'm with Jivaji on this one. I think we need to get going, Joe."

Eltumal will start backing up, fear evident in his eyes.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

"It hurts.....it hurts.....it hurts..."

P.S. This is a random encounter.

M Human Fighter 1

Joe shrugs. "Well alright. It don't look like it's gonna tell me how to fix it anyhow. And I don't really know how to kill somethin' that ain't got nothin' to it." He turns to Tam and Silent. "Unless one of you fellas know how to kill it. Otherwise, we might as well get on outta here."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

I wanna see what Tam and Silent decide before moving on.

You've never seen a wolf shrug before, but that's exactly what Silent does before sliding back away from the eerie thing... obviously not wanting to engage it if he doesn't have to.

Tam doesn't want anything to do with the creepy ghost. He's ready to hit the hermit's hut.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

You all are much faster than the revenant and are able to escape.

Later you arrive at the hut in the previous manner as before.

Those who approached the hut:

As you approach, you spot several large traps. Inside one of the windows you see what looks to be a rainbow patterned Kobold pacing about in the place. Odd part is that the traps around the place are large, elaborate, and painfully obvious. You can approach the hut and knock or continue lurking.

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

"Well, I think we should announce ourselves. Yes?"

Getting just close enough to shout and be heard, Jivaji yells out.
"HELLO THERE! HERMIT! WE COME IN PEACE! WE WISH TO REST, AND TO TRADE!"

He then turns to everyone else, and shrugs and waits for a reply.

M Human Fighter 1

Joe gives Jivaji a thumbs up and a wink, thinking that's a good idea.

Silent's only answer it to shift into his towering half-wolf form, blade scraping from its sheath. His yellow eyes scan the area for threats or traps.

Male Elf Alchemist 2

Eltumal shrugs, drawing his bow preemptively.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

The little white Kobold rushes out of his hut shouting in draconic and shaking his fist angrily at you.

Draconic:

You little whipper snappers better get off of my lawn or Imma gonna cut you!

He seems very upset.

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Jivaji squints his eyes and stares at the kobold, scratching his feathery pate.

Unable to decifer a word he's saying, he merely shrugs again.

"I mean I expected him to be startled, not upset. Why would he be upset with us? Unless..."

Jivaji snaps his beak shut, thinking that the noise he made caused the reaction.

"I wonder if these traps have anything to do with it."

Jivaji then kneels down close to the nearest trap to inspect it and hopefully discern its purpose.

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Survival? 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Kn: Nature? 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Best you can tell Jivaji, these would stop a rex dead in its tracks.

Still waiting to see if someone else speaks Draconic, I think Eltumal does so we will see what he says.

Male Elf Alchemist 2

Sorry, about that. I didn't see the Draconic tag.

"Jivaji, come back for a second. He seems pretty pissed. I'll try and talk with him, to see if we can get some shelter, or at least have him not, as he says, 'cut us'."

Draconic:
"We mean you no harm, honestly. We are trying to survive out here, and we came upon your hut. We simply figured that instead of walking in, we would announce our presence to the great and wise being that must live here, so as not to startle him. I am truly humbled by your presence, and hopefully we can come to an agreement?"

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Backing away slowly and carefully, and whispering to those nearby. "No WONDER he can live alone out here. Look at these traps. They're for the dinosaurs! I must study these... If he allows it I mean."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

The kobold looks at you with a puzzled expression.

Draconic:

"You not tribesman of any kind! Who are ye? Speak! Er Imma gonna give ya da hanky panky! Hhehe"

Male Elf Alchemist 2

Draconic:
"We are merely a group of people in similar conditions who have decided to band together to better our odds against certain impending doom in the jungle. We came from outside the jungle to escape a tyrant who wiped out our homes."

Kneels down.

Scratches an ear.

Sniffs the air.

Shifts blade from hand to hand, watching the incomprehensible conversation.

:D

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Draconic:

"Hmmm yeah those Tyrants are quite the oversized pests aren't they. Well those monster wont be knockin down ma home. I won't lettem. See em bones over dere. Once such Tyrant came here and got himself stuck den I okie doked im a good one. Teach em not to come prodin around here. So, what brings you lot to ma home huh?"
The little Kobold seems less irrate at the moment.

"Is...Is that a language? It sounds like they're growling at each other.." Tam stands perfectly still, smiling as wide as he can, attempting to look nonthreatening in every way.

Sign Language:
"I thought they were clearing their throats."

Male Elf Alchemist 2

It's working! :D

Draconic:
"We came across your home, and hoped to have at least some haven for a short while. It's been rough out here without shelter, you must understand. We've already lost several members of our original group, some fallen to undead, others to the giant lizards. Would you be so kind as to allow us to shelter here for a night, so that we may recuperate?"

"It's a highly intricate form of throat modulation. Takes a while to learn."

M Human Fighter 1

Joe shrugs in answer to Tam's question. Then realizing he's got a hang nail, he proceeds to work on chewing it off.

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Jivaji starts carefully circling the big traps, without touching them. He wears a deeply ponderous expression on his brow as he inspects.

He draws in the air with a clawed finger as he mutters things to himself inaudibly.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Draconic:

"Meh. You seem a useless lot. Come inside. An don't step in ma traps, they fer tyrants, like the one dat destroyed your home."

The white kobold waves his hand in a manner that suggests he is beckoning you to come. He then turns towards his hut and begins to make his way inside leaving the door open behind him.

Not knowing if there are any courtesy issues, Silent releases the hold on the animal within himself, bones popping back into his six foot human form before he follows the group inside. His blade goes back into its sheath as well as he shrugs to everyone.

Male Elf Alchemist 2

Draconic:
"Thank you very much for your generosity.

"Jivaji, if you wouldn't mind, keep away from the traps. He doesn't want us messing about in the least with those."

Eltumal, bowing to the kobold, accepts his offer of hospitality and enters.

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

His resigned sigh betrays his disappointment, but still he simply says "Ok. Maybe I can convince him later to let me study them. Of course I understand."

With that, he stands, wipes his hands off, and trods forth.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

The roof to the hut is barely over 4 feet high. Tam can move about comfortably but the rest of you are horribly hunched or crawling. The Kobold is moving about "cleaning" the place it seems.

Draconic:

"Don't mind the mess. I wasn't expectin company. Don't touch anythin wit out ma say so er Imma gonna stick ya good. Fine a place ta sit an stay. I bring food in a moment."

The place is adorned with unholy symbols and relics. You also see several well crafted items. Using detect magic you will notice this little dude has a LOT of magic items.

Male Elf Alchemist 2

"Touch nothing. He won't hesitate to stick you, he says."

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Jivaji keeps his hands quite obviously to himself.
"Is there anything he might want that we have? Some sort of good faith would seem appropriate."

Male Elf Alchemist 2

"Right now, I'm just trying to stay on his good side. I'm not entirely sure how he'd take an offering from one of us. As soon as i get more comfortable with our position, I may offer him something."

Draconic:
"You have many wonderful things. It must have taken you a long time to amass such a collection. Is there any chance you might regale us with a tale concerning one of these? Surely it would make an interesting story."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Sorry about the wait. Got sick again and could only really make a couple of posts a day. Also, my day to day work load has increased a tad. I may need to cut some campaigns. It feels like I only have two people playing in this thread now. I just need a shout out from you folks, who is still here and enjoying the campaign. Be honest on both. In the meantime, I will keep this going. If everyone is still with it and enjoying it, I'll keep it going.

The kobold brings out three entrees and a plate for each of you. Aside from the tasty looking platter of meat, the other two dishes don't look particularly appetizing.

Draconic:

"Here we have some of me finest dishes. First we have Mugworm stew, followed by raptor flanks, and for desert, Leeches and Cream. Enjoy."

When asked about his trophies he gives the best kobold smile he can.

Draconic:

"Almost all of them come from tribal folks. I have fought to defend my home from many an invader. I gave em all whats for an I'm still here too. You the first to not shoot first an ask questions later. That's a good thing. Cause now I got someone I don'ts hafta Wika pick wit ma stick. Non dese tings have an fancy story except for the staff of dragons which I stole from my old clan near a hundred years ago. Day didn like dat too much at all. Kind funny. Occasionally dey sends their best to recover it but I always swatsem befer day can. You got any neat stories?"

Male Elf Alchemist 2

I'm still interested. I think it's mostly probably because I'm the only one that speaks Draconic that nobody is really posting right now.

Pointing to each dish, in order: " This is Mugworm Stew, followed by Raptor flanks, and finally, leeches and cream. I'm going to try a bit of each, to flatter him. Have whatever you will."

Draconic:
trying to be a good guest,"You don't mind if I try some of all three, do you?"

After helping himself to some of each, and in turn eating a bite or two of each dish, Eltumal continues talking to the kobold, pointing to his clipped ear.

Draconic:
"This one, I got while I was hiking about in the jungles a few years back. Me and my associates, not these, other people, were stalking a few Tyrants, and as one roared, it scared one of my own, and, being jumpy, he accidentally fired a bolt, cutting off the tip of my ear. We took away his crossbow, and we booked it, as the Tyrants heard the commotion caused by his misfire. Other than that, I don't really have anything interesting to tell."

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Jivaji is no stranger to the odd things that one must eat to survive, whether on the streets or in the wilderness. He eagerly helps himself to a healthy serving of each. If anything tastes odd or feels weird in his beak, he doesn't seem to show it.

He pauses long enough to ask Eltumal how to thank the kobold in draconic. After making sure his gullet is clear, he echoes Eltumal's words back to the kobold host.

I think Eltumal's right. It's just running a bit slow because there's only one person speaking draconic. The long delays don't help either, every time I check for updates, there's more and more time between checking. I'm not blaming you of course, you've got stuff going on and it's as simple as that. I think I mentioned earlier that the previous encounter was pretty great? I think we're all good here :)

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Sorry about the delays. I try and wait to see how many people post but you are right, since you are the only one who speaks draconic, I shouldn't expect much from the others.

The kobold nods seemingly pleased.

Draconic:

"He what ye like youngins, it be a long time since I have guest who don't wish to kill me. Very annoying.

M Human Fighter 1

Yep. Eltumal's right.

Joe listens to Eltumal's break down of each dish...and just keeps smiling.

I'm still here. Still engaged. And Eltumal's right... there's not much for Silent to do but hang out.

Silent, not especially tuned into social niceties, avoids the questionable-looking foods, but thankfully keeps his face impassive.

Tam takes a bit of the raptor meat, just to try it. If it's good, though, he'll take more.

Still here.

Oh, missed the meat tray somehow.

Silent lets his nose discover the meat trays, testing it for poisons before grabbing a few bites to chew on.

Male Elf Alchemist 2

Sorry about the wait, I've had some IRL problems. I also didn't see the Draconic spoiler above, so that's a part of it as well.

Draconic:
"That's really unfortunate. And this stuff's pretty good. This brings a question to my mind. How can we ever repay you for such kindness?"

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Sorry for the delay. Back to back shifts. Then we have Skyrim come out. So yeah sorry bout that.

The kobold seems surprised and then leans in and asks Eltumal.

Draconic:

"What kinda repayin er we talkin? Ya see I gotsa thorn in ma side. I useta be apart of a tribe of kobolds. The council of sorcerers said I dun lost my mind an am no use. Can ye off'em fer me?"

Male Elf Alchemist 2

Eltumal's face suddenly straighten's as opposed to the lighthearted visage previously adorning his face.

Draconic:
"Not to be rude, but I'm going to have to speak with my companions on that one. As soon as I get a definitive answer, I'll get back to you."

"Not sure what to make of this, guys. As a bit of repayment, he wants us to go and take out what he called the "Council of Sorcerers" from his old tribe. They're the ones that exiled him, because, in his own words describing the reason, 'The council of sorcerers said I dun lost my mind an am no use'. Thoughts, anyone?"

M Human Fighter 1

Joe looks at Eltumal curiously. "Sounds like paid killin' to me. I ain't into all that. I'm for a fair fight any day, but I can't just walk on up to someone and just start killin' 'em just because they don't think he's useful. I'm gonna have to pass on that'un."

Male Tengu Ranger (Trapper) / 2

Jivaji turns a perplexed face to Eltumal "Perhaps we can offer some sort of counter-offer. It is clear that he is quite useful. Perhaps if we attempt to be the arbiter of his disagreement, and work out some compromise in his behalf? We would need to find out exactly what it is he wants out of such an arrangement though."

Silent looks perplexed, hands flashing.

Sign Language:
"Repayment for what? Exactly what has he done for us here? Other than give us some food... which I'm fairly certain we could have found on our own. I'm not big on killing for money, either."
